I am grateful to have found Suzanne. I have a severe macaw that I have raised since he was a baby. After I met my wife he became very territorial and constantly squaked to the point where it was time to either find him a new home or somehow correct his behavior. All I can say is WOW! Never have I felt more confident and comfortable while leaving my rescued Pionus, Cricket, with someone before. Suzanne's level of care is on par with my own (and I'm meticulous when it comes to my baby bird), so I have no hesitation in highly recommending Pampered Parrot Boarding. Suzanne took extra special care to make sure Cricket was comfortable, especially since our bird is a rescue and can be very timid at times. The first day Suzanne met Cricket, Cricket felt comfortable enough around her to fall asleep, which a scared bird would never do, so that was a huge sign to me that Cricket was in good hands. Suzanne was also kind enough to send daily updates and pictures to us via email, which, again, helped us feel comfortable that Cricket was truly getting the best care. My husband and I have always had a hard time leaving Cricket when we go on vacation, but we now have the peace of mind in knowing that when we do have to leave our baby bird behind, she will be getting the same quality care and attention that she gets in her own home. This is the first time we felt comfortable enough to leave our cockatiel at a boarding place. Our bird is our baby -- so it was truly important to us that this be the right fit. Suzanne took the time to really get all the information from us about his habits, likes, dislikes, etc as well as to answer all of our questions. Very knowledgeable about birds, she ensured that his environment was a safe one, and he apparently felt safe enough to do some exploring as well! For the 10 days while we were away, she regularly sent emails including photo updates and tidbits about his day, which truly put our minds and hearts at ease and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worry. I always looked forward to reading and seeing the latest updates! We were also in the process of switching to a new avian vet, and she took the time to make a couple calls on our behalf while we out of the country. I contacted Suzanne because my 1 1/2 year old pineapple green cheek conure started aggressively biting my hand (I still have scars...) I met with Suzanne and after two sessions (one at her place, one at mine) I am happy to report that my GCC's biting has ceased and she is back to her cuddly adorable self. Suzanne gave me tips to curb my GCC's behavior as well as a safe place for her to socialize with other people and birds. I was being kind to give Suzanne a 2 star review, and after reading her comment I wish I could leave zero. My bird has never attacked anyone and I did NOT ask her to leave the room because I was afraid my bird might attack her. My bird is a quaker parrot ... and quakers are known to be cage territorial. I have no idea if Suzanne actually spent the time with my bird she charged for. In addition the claims I only left my bird one toy are not true ... in fact I left a bag with several toys that could be traded out and such. I also purchased 2 toys from Suzanne. We had our two birds (lineolated parakeet and English budgie) stay with Suzanne while we were away. She is nothing short of amazing! I'm extremely picky about who watches my birds and I felt very at ease with them being in her care. She kept us up to date on how they were doing and sent many pictures. Not only is she an expert on birds, but she goes out of her way to share her knowledge with you. When we came home both of our birds had been out flying around with her budgies and were being very vocal. She also sells some very high quality food mixes she puts together herself as well as toys. We have used her service many times now for our little lineolated parakeet, and I would now feel a little strange about taking him any other place for boarding. On top of being flexible and very understanding of travel plans and particular bird issues, she clearly loves spending time with birds and always emails us photos and updates while we're away. She has also been incredibly gracious and generous with her time- we are nearly-first-time bird owners, and on several occasions, she has taken time out of her evening to spend an hour with us on the phone giving us knowledgable advice and thoughts about bird behavior and training. She also has given us veterinarian recommendations. We received email photos of our birds showing them having a good stay. This was a great bonus for us to see our birds while we were on vacation. Suzanne cared for our cockatiel (Cricket) and Hahn's macaw (Link) while we were having work done on our condo. Her service was incredible, and I would gladly board them with her again! She is incredibly thorough with the cleaning of the cages, she is incredibly knowledgeable, and I never doubted that my birds would receive anything but the best care. When we arrived, she spent lots of time going over the setup of their cage, asking about their likes, their fears, etc. They settled in very quickly, and were quite content when we picked them up. It was wonderful too, she helped us find bird toys that each bird would like - which can be especially challenging for Link, since she's very nervous. I cannot write enough good things about Pampered Parrot. We have an 8 yr old canary winged parakeet family member named Jimmie who lost her bird friend, Scout, last year. The loss of Scout changed everything for our family. Although Jimmie seemed fine, I stopped being able to take overnight trips because she would refuse to eat. Birds are not like dogs and I was never prepared to see how long this would last. Jimmie had never been boarded before and we'd always left her in our home with a family member coming to stay with her - these are people that she knew and loved - but this was no longer enough. We cancelled trips and tried intermittently to see if she had returned to normal. She refused to eat with each trial. After 9 months we knew this wasn't a blip. Enter "Auntie" Suzanne. She has DECADES of experience with all things bird. From our first conversation, Suzanne was kind, knowledgeable and incredibly insightful. I scheduled an appointment for her behavior coaching which was immensely helpful. She gave me applicable information and ideas that I immediately put to use to help Jimmie get her swagger back. Within weeks, we all noticed a change. We scheduled a trip and discussed boarding with Suzanne. We both felt that Jimmie needed to be able to see and hear other birds. She needed a safe environment in which to build her confidence. Suzanne has an amazing group of rescued birds that share her home. She is meticulous about their care and needs. She is thoughtful about individual birds and we decided Jimmie's cage placement would be where she could watch other feathered friends and (hopefully) eat when they ate, preen when they preened, etc. It worked like a charm. I worried about my girl but never for a moment worried that Suzanne didn't have eyes on her. I knew that Suzanne would monitor every morsel, every possible nibble. Jimmie adored "camp" (our term for Suzanne's home). We received frequent texts and pictures of Jimmie out playing with Suzanne and EATING her favorite foods. We were THRILLED! Upon our return, Jimmie was happy to see me but didn't cling to me as she would have before camp and the changes we noticed since bringing her home have been so amazing. She is back to her confident, sassy self. She flies to all our family members and spends time with everyone and rarely seeks me out in the desperate way that she did after the loss of Scout. I never thought I'd board our girl but after camp - I doubt I'll ever not board Jimmie with Auntie Suzanne. It is a vacation for her as much as it is for us. Thank you again, Auntie Suzanne! I contacted Suzanne a couple of weeks ago to board my 2y/o Senegal parrot, Otis. Suzanne is so incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to our avian kids, and has so many great tips to offer to people struggling with parrot behavioral problems. During his stay, Otis only received great quality homemade, organic food and got a very spacious cage in order to keep him active. Whenever we would board Otis elsewhere, he would come back acting very lethargic which made me worry about his health. After a 4 day stay with Suzanne, Otis didn't display any worrisome behaviors and was still very energetic, healthy and happy. I could really tell that Suzanne truly cared about Otis's well-being as she was so willing to answer all of our questions and give advice when and where we needed it. As first time parrot owners, I know that Suzanne is going to truly be a lifesaver when it comes to our relationship with Otis.
