Bartender Red was the warmest and nicest person with great recommendations. He recommend the Lobster Diavolo and Fruitta (I don't remember the whole name for the 2nd dish) were amazinggg pasta perfect size, sauce was delicious with a little kick, and perfect amount of seafood!! We got the Lobster Ravioli and it was a pleasant surprise being decently filled although I would say it was on the small size portion wise but paired great with a Caesar salad. This was my parents' go-to restaurant when they came to visit me in D.C. We usually went during late lunch/early dinner, and each time there was a very tranquil, quiet dining atmosphere. There's not much chaos or loudness, so if you are looking for a more tranquil dinner spot, I recommend it. As my entree, I usually get the Filetto Mignon, and it never fails me. I went to Flavios with my coworkers and it was honestly below mid. We were a group of six and they knew ahead of time we were coming. We were sat as soon as we came in but a server didn't come for like 10-15 minutes. Finally one came with waters and took the drink order, then it took that much longer to come back to take the food. The food I thought was okay. I'm GLUTEN FREE. I only got the Caprese salad. Thought that was okay and then my co workers got the pastas that are pictured. They said it was good. Wow, Georgetown's Flavio knocked my socks off! It was such a fun and enjoyable experience dining and imbibing at the bar because we were so well taken care of by Red at the bar. The old fashioned that I had was so expertly made and never did we feel like we were ignored the entire time we were there. Usually, I cannot eat pizza with red sauce because it gives me incredible heartburn, but that was not the case here! I am not sure what they did, but their sauce tasted rich and smoky and fresh! Came here for a wedding reception and it was honestly very terrible. I felt so bad for my friend, the bride. She reserved the entire restaurant and instead they sectioned off 1/4th of the place without telling her. They had a small bar in the back and had the appetizers along that area, which logistically didn't make sense. Because they crammed 11 tables downstairs and 2 upstairs (even though there weren't supposed to be people up there), there was zero space to walk, let alone get to the stair case to get upstairs, which is where I was seated, or to get through to the apps and drinks at the bar. The apps ran out quickly and were not refilled for a long time. Because there were only a few people seated upstairs including the DJ, we were very last to eat, literally getting serviced as downstairs was getting their plates cleared. We did not get the champagne toast because we were forgotten. And the food was cold by the time it got to us. I wish I could say the food was good, but it was so cold that it wasn't appetizing. On top of all of this, the roof was leaking!! It literally had black duck tape in several sections to prevent the water from dripping, which did not help. One table for Marissa had ti be completely removed due to a literal waterfall coming down at one point. There were puddles of water everywhere and they weren't cleaning it up. Such a scary hazard! The area where we were is directly next to the kitchen area, so the regular servers were repeatedly walking through our very small, sectioned off part. It was rude and distracting. read more

Oh my... was this place memorable. When we arrived we were seated right away. Service was spotty. At the beginning our waitress kept rushing us to order, once we placed our order she disappeared. The food is delicious. We enjoyed everything that we ordered. Be warned that the add-ons get pricey quickly. Adding chicken $8, adding broccoli $8. Now for the memorable part of the evening. There were a couple of girls at the table next to us. You could tell they were having a very bad experience both with the food and the service. The way the restaurant handled the situation was what lost them stars for me. This is based on our first and likely only visit to Flavio. Overall experience was underwhelming. We expected better based on reviews. I'd recommend several other Italian restaurants over Flavio. There are much better Italian restaurants we'd rather visit next time for better ambiance, food quality, portions, and value. Our server was attentive without being annoying. For a Friday evening about 7pm, it was very quiet. I'd estimate less than 25% seats filled. The pizza came out very quickly and about 10 solid minutes before the pasta dish. Timing wouldn't been awkward if we didn't share our entrees. Flavio's pizza. It was bigger than the plate and easily shareable between 2-3 people. This and a nice salad would've been nice to share. Good amount of seafood toppings. Nice flavor overall. Crust was soft. I would've preferred crispier NY style. Spaghetti bolognese. Small portion for the price. Good flavor but nothing exceptional. I would not reorder. House made pasta would've made a big difference. Bread basket and pesto dip. Bread basket included sliced pita style bread. OK but I would've preferred fresh rolls or an option to order a mixed fresh baked bread option. This was disappointing for an Italian restaurant. They charge a "recovery fee". I did not see any signage about this. It was a small fee so instead of making a big deal of it, I opted to reduce the tip amount by this fee amount from my usual 20% I leave for good service. read more

An awesome lunch after a day of touring DC... Flavio was recommended by our tour guide (shout out to Alan at Concierge Tours), and he even called ahead to make sure we were taken care of. This place is off the beaten path in Georgetown, but it's honestly a must try. The food was all amazing and the owner, Moose, took amazing care of us. The restaurant has a cool casual vibe. We started with the calamari and bruschetta (amazing - and I don't love raw tomatoes), both were fantastic. Entrees were veal piccata, chicken fettuccini Alfredo and the lobster diavolo... all were awesome. Pastas were all cooked perfectly, and all the seasoning were perfect. Easily one of the best alfredo's any of us have ever had. At the end we had the limoncello cake and tiramisu, both were stand out fantastic!! We walk to the establishment and noticed two Italian restaurant right next door called, il canale and Piccalo The guy outside who was the host, wasn't very attentive. Another couple, who seemed like regulars were ahead of us...however the host left us outside for about 5 minutes, until I decided to walk into the restaurant to ask for a table and get out of the cold. By the time he realized I had stepped foot inside, he sat us right away. Our server wasn't very attentive. We asked for cokes and mom asked for a decaf cappuccino...and the gentleman kinda takes a while. As soon as I checked into this establishment using the Yelp app, it offered me a free dessert so before ordering I wanted to make sure that I could use the online coupon. Anyway, our Coke's took a while to get to our table, our food wasn't that great and the service was overall below mediocre. I think amongst the guest list of over 20 people, we sampled the entire menu. Sadly, our party didn't begin until a little after 9 pm, and the kitchen closed at 9:30, but the food arrived hot and without issue. I jad the lobster diavolo, my boyfriend had the salmon, and my youngest son had the chicken parmesan. My meal was a little bland for my taste. But, it was still good. Would I return? Yes.
