Great service and honest businesspeople. You will find things in the shop not available anywhere in the world. Probably the most exotic item is a tusk made of ivory from a Wooley Mammoth. It has dozens of Chinese figures carved into it. That piece alone is worth a visit. It belongs in a museum. They also have an amazing assortment of items that they get from the estates. I was on my way back from a client meeting today and decided to take a different route back to my office avoiding the crowds of Bryant Park. Wow! I really like the family that owns/works here and stop in whenever I am in Manhattan and they are open. They sell amazing art and jewelry and it's fun even to window shop. Also an excellent stop for theater comments. And they are my first choice place to buy interesting jewelry - no assembly line rings or bracelets here. I have a beautiful Tiffany diamond and tanzanite ring and a lovely understated tennis bracelet that I got there. Friends bought several impressionist paintings they didn't know they needed. This place has people working there that think they are high and mighty. I over heard a salesman saying as I was leaving "... Sundays you get these NOBODY'S" or they could be racist. Prices are OK. I wouldn't waste my time there again. read more

I truly adore this gallery and the people who own and manage it. The Barclay Gallery has an exquisite and unique collection of treasures. When I went inside I was promptly greeted by a lovely woman named Esther. I was not shopping for anything in particular, in fact I had never purchased art of any real value before, and she made me feel very welcome in the gallery. I found a painting of where my husband and I honeymooned that I really wanted to gift him for Christmas. Esther, Robert and Albert worked with me to make me feel comfortable with the large purchase. This gallery not only has beautiful things, but they clearly respect individuals, their stories, and like to see their pieces go to appreciative customers. They aren't just in it for the money and they want to create a lasting relationship with their customers. If you are looking for something special, please pay them a visit. I was passing by the gallery and on my way to Rockefeller Center to ice skate during the holidays. I told my spouse that this gallery looked like a museum! We both entered the gallery and were greeted by Joseph, Sam, and Gali (God Bless Them all). It was such a fascinating place (2 floors- 5 total) we split up and were amazed. I looked at all of the art work which was one of a kind and was flawless! We were offered coffee (I drink Coke -Cola)! We weren't planning on purchasing any items whatsoever. We decided on purchasing a necklace! It was of the highest quality that I ever had seen. No wonder that Barclay's was in business for over 75 years!
