This was my first visit at Barcocina and I enjoyed myself. We started with an of chips and salsa which were probably the best I've had in a long time. The salsa is more of a pico de gallo and is so fresh. We ordered the ancho fries which had a nice kick to them and the sauce on the chipotle mayo dipping sauce was perfect. The smoked mushroom tacos included a variety of mushrooms. The smokey flavor was definitely present.To drink, I ordered Blackberry Sangria. It did the job, but I wished I tasted more blackberry. Overall, I had a good experience and would return. I want to come back and try happy hour. read more

I've been coming to Barcocina since I moved to Baltimore and it's one of my favorites in the city for a great margarita (or three) and interesting, unique tacos that always hit the spot. Al the guacamole is amazing, but my favorites are the Oaxacan style and the house Barcocina guacamole (it has basil and it's so unique and tasty). The queso fundido is also a satisfying choice as an appetizer if you're not feeling guacamole. I'm pretty sure I've had every taco on their list, and they are all so freaking good. My favorites and the ones I always go to are the cheeseburger, Korean beef, smoked brisket, and mushroom tinga. I always recommend the cauliflower tacos, but I don't see them on the menu anymore, they must be retired (I posted pics of them anyway because I love them ). read more

We stopped by on Labor Day. The restaurant was pretty full. We were offered a table immediately but it was right next to the bathroom (). There were several other tables that needed to be cleaned but they only had one busser available. Please be patient with restaurant staff, everyone is stretched thin these days. We started with the Brussels sprouts, salsa roja and barcocina guacamole. The brussel sprouts were slightly over cooked, exactly how I like them. The salsa was fresh and the chips were perfect. I also had the bang bang cauliflower tacos and OMG. They were amazing. The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and the sauce wasn't too thick. I enjoyed the pickled slaw that was on the tacos. Food: (4/5) The guac with balsamic vinegar was a great twist. I have never tried anything like that. The chips were also great, not too salty and they have a good thickness. I have been coming here for a long time, and my favorite part of barcocina is the vibes and ambience they create! They have the best location right on top of the water, so you have some nice views over the pier and an outdoor-indoor vibe even when you're sitting inside. They have a weekday happy hour 4-6 pm and I love their margs! I've had their spicy margs and I really enjoy them as well (they have this spicy foam on top) but I've only gotten those outside of happy hour. Their mimosas are also delicious! They have a lot of drink options and I look forward to trying them. In terms of their brunch food, I always enjoy their appys especially their unique guacamole and chips options. Nice spot on the harbor, I really enjoyed just sitting by the water, relaxing with a couple of cocktails. I tried a tequila old fashioned which was unique, probably won't get it again but that is personal preference, the flavor was good. We didn't stay long enough to order meals because the guacamole was horrible(we sent It back), the chips were chip your tooth hard and then the sangria was the most tasteless sangria I've ever had. Got to sit outside on the patio and had a very nice view of the harbor. Ordered a couple items to share. The menu had a lot of different choices which was very nice. Enjoyed our meal at Barcocina - everyone in our group of 7 was very happy with their food. They have a lot of interesting and creative taco options - favorites were the cheeseburger tacos, Kung pao shrimp tacos, and the Korean beef tacos. Great drink selection as well - I had the smoky margarita which was excellent, as I am very partial to mezcal. One of the major draws is the beatific setting on the water and outside seating. Unfortunately during our visit, there was loud work going on at the dock with a very strong gas smell. We asked for a different outside table on the other side of the restaurant, but they couldn't accommodate us and we had to move inside. Definitely took away from the experience for us. Probably won't happen often, but if you are set on outside dining, worth noting the risk. read more

Coming from California this is pricey for tacos (15$ for three) but it's worth it for the harbor front water view. Drinks were also good. It's a nice spot to have some small bites and drink and socialize with friends from out of town. Taste wise it's less greasy than California street tacos. I walked there from harbor point. Parking available at harbor point for a price (city parking ..). It's about a twenty minute walk from there and worth it for the water view. I guess you can also drive there but I wouldn't know how/parking. They do have bottomless mimosa but for lunchtime only. read more

This was my first time here and it was very nice! We had reservations for 5:30, we called the restaurant to advise, and they suggested a great parking garage which was very helpful. Once we arrived we were immediately seated. Let's get to the good stuff, food! We ordered the nachos and guac, cornbread, cauliflower tacos, mac and cheese quesadillas which was a special, and sangrias. Everything was very delicious! Our waitress Lindsey was the best! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Barcocina yet. I have been there many times! I would say that the ambiance by the water is fabulous especially on a nice day and the vibe is casual and lively. Service can sometimes be hit or miss as we have gone with much larger groups and smaller groups with some variety there. In terms of the menu, the tacos are awesome. The hash breakfast tacos if you can catch them on the breakfast menu are delicious! The taco exterior is made of hashed potato and is crispy. Can't get much better than that! Our favorite taco in general is the Buffalo chicken I would say. It's quite flavorful and comes in a set of three with ranch dressing. We also tried the Peruvian chicken tacos recently which were delicious with a side of cilantro dressing to place on the tacos. The guacamole has also been a reliably good item to get and the fries we tried recently are crispy, thin and served with an aioli type dressing which was tasty. Before six, at least on weekdays, drinks were discounted and their classic margarita is definitely good and not too sweet. I usually ask for less ice since they often give a lot of ice in the drinks. All in all, if you're looking for a great vibe on a nice day and nothing fancy but good, decent tacos and drinks I do recommend Barcocina! read more

I've been to this establishment many times and virtually every visit has been positive. Usually I am just there drinking, but recently I stopped in for a meal as well as drinks. I requested outdoor seating, but there was a wait so I sat at the bar. The bartender patiently provided beer suggestions and samples until I decided on a nice sour. I enjoyed my time at the bar until my table was available. Only issue was the bartender got super busy just as I needed my check, and it took him a while to close me out. The table outside was great as it was a lovely day. I ordered a brussel sprouts appetizer and the fish tacos. The app was very good and I ate it all. The fish tacos were ok, nothing spectacular about them, but nothing bad either. I'd like to try some of the other tacos there, some may be a better match for my taste buds. The food here is amazing but the service always needs improvement. This is the second time I visited this restaurant. The first time we were walk-ins and we were seated outside in a remote location that in my opinion probably shouldn't even have seating for this restaurant. We found it very difficult to get our waiters attention and long periods of time would pass by before we were able to request anything from water to the check. The second time I visited here was for brunch. Initially the hostess had told us that there was no seating available because she had automatically assumed that we wanted to sit outside for some reason ?? After I asked some additional questions I told her that indoor seating was actually preferred and we were seated right away. My friend and I ordered bottomless Mamosa's. I was very disappointed with not only the quality of the mimosas but the presentation. They were served in a 16 ounce glass usually reserved for tapwater or beer and for the first time in my life I had mimosas over ice. Toward the end of our dining experience we had ordered one more Mimosa and after one sip we realized we tasted almost no alcohol so we waved our waitress over and before I even had the opportunity to finish my sentence she cut me off assuming she I was going to ask for another drink before I had finished my current one and said she's not allowed to give me multiple drinks. I corrected her by saying that I was going to comment on the actual taste of the drink not my need for a second one. She told me she had made the drink herself and it was half champagne half orange juice-- so at that point I just said OK and a few minutes later she came back with half a cup of champagne for us to top off the mimosas with. This was thoughtful but it also helped me realize that the Mimosa's probably weren't that good because they were being watered down with all the ice. Aside from my complaints about the service if you come here I absolutely recommend you getting the jalapeño cornbread which is so good it's acceptable to come to this restaurant just for that alone. read more

3.5, and very solidly so. Very good ambience and atmosphere: Located by the waterfront with both indoor and outdoor seating, this place has a very cool and hip vibe. However, I've been here at least 4 times in the past (and just realized I never dropped a review), and the service is always extremely slow and things can get a little pricey. During weekends (pre-COVID), wait times could get extremely long (an hour or so). One time we went here after waiting 45 minutes to be seated, it took about another 20 minutes to order and an 45 minutes for half of our food to arrive and the other half never showed up (turns out they lost/forgot our order? Manager came out and apologized to all of the tables and had the bartender mix a few "shots"). The food is always hit or miss; I have had some really good chips with the different types of dip (highly recommend the one with beans and corn and you can never go wrong with guacamole). I had the mahi mahi tacos which were extremely disappointing (the fish was in dry cubes and the flavor didn't wow me). The drinks are always tasty (but again, pricey). This is a great place to meet up with friends, take out of town guests, etc. for the ambience, but for the food alone, there are better places to explore. read more

The service and food were excellent. Getting seated was a bit of an ordeal. Let's talk about the food and service. My server was a trainee and paid good attention to me but I never felt rushed and she respected the fact I wanted to enjoy the water views and happy hour. In the end I bought dinner for myself too, even though I started out just wanting to enjoy happy hour by the water. Service and food are 15 out of 10! Now...about getting seated. The restaurant was 99% empty...it was Monday at about 5 PM. When I told the host and hostess that I was hoping to enjoy some wine and perhaps dinner by the water, the host took me to an outdoor table far from the water and said they had this table available. When I asked for something closer to the water, he took me to the worst table in direct sunlight. I stood my ground and ultimately got seated at a good table. During my dining, over half the waterfront tables stayed mostly empty. So why he wanted to seat me at crappy tables is baffling. That part of the experience was 1 out of 10. But back to the food. The rockfish tacos were a generous serving and very good. The side order of Brussels sprouts were the best I ever ate, extremely good. Over all, I'd recommend this place but they need to learn how to seat patrons at good tables on Monday nights! read more

Considering I go here as often as once a week, I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! This restaurant is a true gem of the city. Sitting right on the water with an incredibly large wrap around patio, a big horseshoe style bar, and wrap around windows, it is one of the prettiest spots there are. The best part though is that it is really affordable. It's really cool that folks who are on a tighter budget can also enjoy a waterfront spot, since most of the other waterfront views cost a pretty penny. Everything I have ever gotten here is delicious. The appetizers (brussel sprouts, guacamole, yuca fries, crab corn dip, etc) are all so unique and yummy. Not to mention the portions are HUGE. I have come here with parties of 4 or more and we have been able to successfully share two appetizers amongst all of us. They have a large selection of flavors for tacos, including an awesome cauliflower one for vegetarians. The drinks might be my favorite part of this place. The spiy marg is to die for, the julio splash is awesome, and the cucumber crush is really refreshing. Weekdays from 4-6 there is a happy hour which is always fun, and though I have never gotten to experience their brunch, I have heard it is amazing. I very recently came here with a friend at night during some bar hopping and I was amazed that they were able to transform the peaceful day time ambiance into a full blown dance party bar scene. The waiters are on point and are always checking on your table to see if you require anything else. I had a steak and egg which tasted so good.
