What a cute vibe: tropical with a mix of old school. They have a bar separate from the dining tables and booths giving lots of different seating options. They offer an incredible lunch special for a DOLLAR you can add fries and a soda to your burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and fries hit the spot with just a hint of salt. I opted for a single patty which was plenty, couldn't even finish it. On a side note the guys working Leo and the shift manager were running it as if they owned it. I was looking to cool down and enjoy a nice burger for lunch, but it was warm inside with no air conditioning and service was disorganized and slow. I have never been treated so poorly by staff. I went pick up my order with MealPal, and after scanning and confirming my order with a male staff, I waited for about 15 minutes. Another person came in and scanned his MealPal order, and his order came out first, before mine. The male staff clearly forgot to put my order in. Went here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation and there was no wait! I couldn't decide what to get, so I went with the server's recommendation for a juicier burger--the Cilantro Black Bean. My friend and I both got combos with fries and a drink. The burger was massive, and the fries were super generous and seasoned perfectly! My burger was messy to eat--juicy and full of flavor, which was awesome! Definitely one of those meals you need to have at the restaurant or at home, though, not in a park or outdoors because of how messy it got. I loved how they didn't skimp on the avocado, the pickled onions weren't overpowering, and the patty was moist! The only downside? The bun felt a little weirdly cold. Ordered pickup online from the Bareburger website. Double Smash burger with sunny egg and bacon extras, along with a vanilla milk shake. Plus tip + $40.00. When I arrive to pickup my food I ask about the Bison Burger which is no longer available. I'm told that Kips Bay is now a "Test" kitchen with a focused menu. I notice there is no milkshake in the bag and they tell me "2 minutes". 10 minutes later the shake finally arrives and by the time I get home the egg has dried, the beef is lukewarm and the bacon is chewy. It doesn't matter how fantastic the burger is, and let's face it, it's just a burger, waiting 10 minutes for a shake that costs $10 (probably the highest margin food item on the menu) it ruins the whole experience. Kips Bay used to be quick, easy and they would always get the order right. Maybe they should "test" that! read more

I ordered the Farmstead, which is literally a vegan burrito. The decor of the restaurants are funky and are often a depiction of animals in clothing. My server was helpful, friendly and attentive during the visit. I had the Guadalupe - a vegan burger made of black bean, roasted corn & poblano patty, guacamole, onions on a brioche bun. The burger was filling and oh so delicious. I cleaned my plate. I haven't been to bareburger in about a year and took off some items that I've been craving like the Buckaroo. I was seated very quickly on a Saturday afternoon. And the service there was phenomenal. I ended up ordering the Paul Bunyan burger and fries. Paul Bunyan: bison, blue cheese, Black Forest bacon, bourbon pear jam, caramelized onions in a sprout bun. The question I have to ask sometimes when I review is, "is it fair to review it this way when this place is obviously not for me?"
