Really delicious diner spot on the UES! It's a tight space, but the diner vibes and seating are quite comfortable / charming. We came for lunch on a sweltering Saturday, and the diner had AC luckily. We got their cheeseburger (made deluxe adding $5 for fries/lettuce/tomato), the blue bacon burger, and 10 piece buffalo chicken wings. I personally really liked the cheeseburger, which had a thick patty and toasted buns. The blue burger was also good, but the blue cheese dressing was tie heavy in flavor and overwhelmed the rest of the burger a bit. The wings were super fresh and we got the hot wings with blue cheese, and it definitely had a kick / nice tang! It was cool to see the food being prepared in front of you. The fries are a hard pass go for the onion rings. The bacon grilled cheese heavily or heavenly buttered sandwich is a hit! The egg salad could make you ask for seconds. Yeah it's good. This place is small, tight and is not fancy. Could I see my father eating here at the counter, yeah! For the most part you should be happy with it. The fries are pretty good though, if you eat ''em fresh. Neater thought that for a while in the wall joint, it's quite pricey. We loved this place !!! The size of it is much like eating at Dad's counter -old school experience makes it awesome , it's not Michelin star but a great place to sit at a counter & be cozy. Everyone behind the counter is friendly . Burger and sandwiches were great , one of the best cups of coffee we've had in awhile .. midday too , not burned .. son filled himself with a chicken parm & got the last piece of chocolate mousse cake & a glass of milk.. counter fits about 7 and a few tables on the side .. my only regret is I realized I under tipped a few $ in error and I want to go back to deliver it -I'm still bothered by my stupidity hours later .. Having walked by this small diner many times, I had to give it a try. What grabbed my attention was the big picture of Emeril posted in the front window. This place is really small. There are 2 counters and about 3 tables. Ordered a beef burger and fries. No matter where you sit in the restaurant you will be able to see your food being prepared. In no time my burger was ready. It was a simple meat patty topped off with a slice of tomato, onions, and lettuce. A small side of Cole Slaw also accompanies your meal. The burger didn't blow me away. The fries were warm and crisp. The gentleman behind the counter is sweet. He is the cashier, cook, and server on most days. Extremely hard worker. Jimbo's is a nice place to grab a quick bite if you're in the area. Got a Texas burger and bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. Total was $21 bucks. Which is ridiculously cheap for NYC. The place is tiny and a little dilapidated. One guy was working as chef, cashier, and waiter. That being said from the moment I stepped in and ordered to the moment I left took less than 15 minutes. So it was quick. Burgers were both super subpar. I literally watched the guy pull two patties out of the freezer and drop em on the grill, like frozen pucks of meat. Cheap ingredients means a cheap taste. It was fine. Definitely edible. But for sure not anything to write home about. Onion rings were the frozen kind where they all look exactly the same in size and shape. The fries were whatever. I was craving a burger the other day so found this as the closet "burger" joint nearby. It's a pretty small/intimate place with some bar seating and that's it. The waiter was friendly and handed me a menu. The menu was pretty full of many choices. I ordered a Swiss and Bacon Burger and got it back within a few minutes. I really liked this burger. It was seasoned well and the bacon was on point. The pieces were huge too. They definitely didn't nickel and dime you for that. Ingredients seemed fresh and cooked correctly. I've been here quite a few times since it's literally around the corner from my uncle's apartment. I get the same thing every time, so I can't say too much about the rest of their menu. I can, however, talk about their burger and fries. Their burger is pure greasy deliciousness. Do I think it's the highest quality beef? No. Does it come with a million choices of toppings? No. But it's so good. They serve you a burger that's big but not too big, with or without cheese, on a simple sesame seed hamburger roll, wrap it up in aluminum foil, and send you on your way. If you get the deluxe it'll come with tomato and lettuce. Today they wrapped up a bunch of pickles for me also -- too bad I hate pickles. The fries are the perfect kind of greasy-spoon diner fries. They wrap foil around those too to keep them hot. They also tend to give me about 10 ketchup packets and enough salt and pepper to last me several months, but I'm not complaining, I try to remind them not to include it. Everyone who works here is very friendly and works hard to get your food ready quickly. I've never eaten here, since it would be silly to not just walk 2 blocks back to the apartment, but considering the size of the place, they have a decent number of seats available, including a fair number of stools and a few 2-person tables. One of these days I'm going to grab some breakfast here just to try something new. They have a sign that says they serve burgers all day though, so I may have to decide between an egg sandwich and a burger even if I'm here at 7am. Definitely try it out if you're looking for a great hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon and you're in the neighborhood. It's the best meal for your dollar in this area for sure. read more
