I was happy to see Bareburger expanded their menu and now offers a widely vegan friendly lineup. I hadn't been to a Bareburger since 2014. This location is inviting and relatively close to my job and complete with open space and new fixtures. Their pay system is tech forward and the staff are pretty friendly. The food: I've now tried two of their vegan burgers and I'm not impressed. The sprout bun is pretty dry and tough and the black bean patty is the most tasteless and equally dry one I've had to date. The concept is cool and I appreciate the extension of vegan offerings, but the execution fails. Hopefully they'll switch out the choice of vegan patty and get a softer bun and create a juicer more appealing vegan burger. read more

I came here to check out the impossible burger 2.0! My review is based strictly on this and the French fries. The French fries were excellent, even the ketchup they use, I dont know what they put in it but it's great and I typically would not use ketchup on my fries. The environment/decor is really cute. As for the impossible burger, I am not sure but I want to say it was probably overcooked because it wasnt "bleeding" as the company advertises. The burger was good though and I'd eat it again. The texture and taste of the patty is a little more reminiscent of a lower quality patty (but not gross) and less so a fancy juicy burger... which may be due to being overcooked? The sauce, cheese, bun, and pickle were all good additions as well. Overall an enjoyable burger and good meat replacement if you want to feel a little less greasy after finishing your meal. I always get a salad with grilled organic chicken, but you can get almost any protein on the salad, such as a burger. Then menu isn't cheap, but the food is of a very high quality. (We use Grubhub) Earlier in the week I ordered a vegan Forager, with an Impossible Burger , truffle frizzled onions, organic wild mushrooms, organic baby kale. I asked for it to be Medium, it was. It was really good. A side of fries, they were way way too salty, never had fries this salty anywhere. Fries were good except for the salt. And onion rings, they were just a little better than average (which are pretty bad), too thick batter. Tonight, I ordered burgers and fries for my non-veg teenagers. They were less than impressed. My Impossible Burger was very rare inside, even though I ordered medium, and they made it to order correctly the last time. I forgot to ask for one of the fries to be salt free (that is not an actual option) and again way too salty. According to my kids, the fries were saltier than McDonalds (at least in Murray Hill). It was close to $100 for the four of us, I think we'll go back to the old standby Greek Diner hamburgers. It wasn't too expensive, but it was too expensive for what it is. So many great options for picky eaters and people with certain diet restrictions. I can't remember the name of the burger I ordered but it was simple and had lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo and mustard. It was sooo juicy where I kept having to wipe my face and chin after every bite. The meat was cooked exactly as I asked, medium rare. This place is not at all cheap for a cheeseburger, you'll end up paying about $15-$25 a person depending on the type of burger, plus the extra cost of a side and a drink. But if you have someone in your group that doesn't eat gluten or is a vegetarian, it's good for everyone to catch a meal at the same place. read more

The fries were crisp, golden brown, and had good saltiness to them. Perfect for dipping in the sauces. The maine root soda diet root beer was just the right drink for this lunch. Is the burger huge? No. But for a lunch special it was just the right amount of food. Not bad at all for a place that specializes in organic and natural ingredients. Lots of options on the menu for a small burger place. Good selection of crafty organic beers and wines. Nice seating and decor, plus decent rock music was playing. After being cooped up all Winter, I made it to my favorite BB spot. I was disappointed when I found that the California Style Burger is off the menu. I tried the new sprouted replacement. I decided that I need to find an new way to order so I can afford the add-ons I want. I'm not fond of sprouts and can't eat guacamole. The waiter was wonderful. Pedro requested plain avocado for me as a substitution. Thank Goodness my other two favorites are still on the menu. I had the sweet potato fries and the Peanut Butter Sammie! My husband and I both ordered the turkey burger. We ordered the crispy Brussels and I didn't really taste the asiago on them, but the lemon was perfect for them. I never considered that combo. Hubs got the fries and we shared. I got the dill pickles. I looooove pickles, and these were amazing. I can't wait to go back and have the sweet pickles. I've been to several Bareburger locations but this is my favorite one. The service is always good and the food is always consistent. Yes, this is one of those "hot spot" restaurants, mostly due to the location (3rd Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan calls to ALL 20somethings throughout the city), so naturally it gets packed rather quickly. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table, no matter how long they told me the wait is. I recommend getting ostrich, it's delicious and for all you health freaks out there, I decided to look up nutritional information on this exotic meat after I consumed and fell in love with it and GUESS WHAT?! It's more lean than beef and has less fat than chicken! Presto, you can fulfill your burger craving without the guilt! In fact, you can swap your bun for a lettuce wrap (I don't always do this, but this morning's carby breakfast made me make some adjustments to my meal). Get the sweet potato croqs. In my opinion, only the habanero chipotle mayo goes well with them, skip the stone ground honey mustard. You'll have some leftover to spread on your burger too, nom nom nom! read more

I've ordered delivery from Bareburger a few times and was lukewarm to happy about it. I love the sustainable and healthy messaging, but didn't always find a meal that added up to my expectations. However, I made my first in-person visit to try out the Impossible Burger and I found myself pleasantly surprised. To set the scene, this Bareburger, despite its Murray Hill location, is more artsy than fratty. The walls are lined with paper-mache bear heads and human-animal hybrid portraits. It all feels a little corporate-funky, but a nice effort. Service was mostly meh, and it felt like everything took a while, but we ended up being in and out in 45 minutes. All four of us opted for the Impossible Burger, two with their Bareburger version (american cheese, caramelized onions, all that jazz), one customized (me), and one collard green wrapped. We also split onion rings and fries. The Impossible Burger is real. It actually, honestly, tastes like beef. If you did a side-by-side comparison, you might be able to tell the difference, but it was pretty damn close. And pretty damn good! I would pick the Impossible Burger whenever available as an alternative. All of the toppings were also fresh and tasty. Not sure if I would get the collard green wrap myself, but interesting concept. The fries and rings were fine, and I like that they give you a bunch of sauces, but I'd skip them next time. It ended up being an expensive meal at $25 a person, with us each just getting a burger and splitting fries. Part of that is that the Impossible Burger is still pretty expensive; looking forward to the price going down as they hit scale. Okay, okay - so I didn't get a burger. But hey, that was a damn good egg sandwich. The pickle chips were awesome. And the nice crispy fries - well, what upped the ante were the three sauces that came with it: curry ketchup, spicy chipotle mayo and bareburger special sauce. Yum, yum, and yum. You know this place was packed and everyone seems to love it but I didn't think it was anything special considering the price. I got a quinoa burger and a small Asian salad. Cost $18. The broccoli slaw in salad was kind of brown and the peanuts were kind of soft. The burger I ordered as a lettuce wrap, but unlike some of the pretty pics mine came as a patty sat on romaine. Not worth the price. I could have gone to grocery store bought a head lettuce a freezer box of 4 parties and 4 times the food for half price. Food taste was good. As expected. Bareburger is a really fun place to go for dinner, I loved the rustic but hipster kind of ambience and the decor. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the Supreme burger and a side of fries and onion rings. It didn't come with any sauce so we got the habanero chipotle on the side for 55c extra. The food was just the right amount for 2 people and it was delicious. The burger was juicy and cooked well, the special sauce added a nice touch. The fries could have been a bit crispier but overall a great side. Rings had a different kind of breading which was pretty tasty. The habanero mayo was SO good. I could have used even more of it. Everything tasted very fresh and organic, even the ketchup! Love the concept of Bareburger although I wish the protein offerings were consistent at every location. I've eaten at several locations (pre Yelp days) but now that I'm writing reviews I wanted to share my experience and love. What did stand out to me was the Dijon mustard at the table! The perfect blend of sourness and mustard kick - and quite aromatic! I couldn't tell if any of the other toppings in my burger were stellar or not, but Bareburger does point out they source locally as much as possible, so applause for that. We ordered waffle fries but were accidentally served regular, we clarified immediately and the order was fixed! Unfortunately, when the waffle fries arrived it seemed the regular had looked more fresh. Nothing to write about on the waffle fries. Overall, I don't know if I'll be back. On one starving Saturday night my friend who lives in Murray Hill brought me here. He'd been before and said they had great burgers. Everything on the menu sounded excellent but I settled on the Fire Quacker Burger and a side order of onion rings. The onion rings had more of a baked feel to them, as opposed to fried. This made them feel more healthy. The Fire Quacker was a duck burger with pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, red onions, baby spinach, tomatoes, and habanero mayo on a brioche bun. They claim this is a spicy burger but it barely had any habanero mayo on it. If the duck wasn't so juicy, the burger would have been really dry. The food was prepared relatively quickly and our server was friendly but I felt the prices were a bit high. Due to its location on 3rd Avenue is midtown Manhattan, you can't avoid these high prices. He provided the best service I've had at any Bareburger and honestly brightened mine and my sister's night a little with his gentle wit. Food wise, I had the new Blazin Burger with beef and the also new Chocolate Hazelnut milkshake, both of which I recommend, although you can never go wrong with the chocolate peanutbutter shake.
