I've been here before with Jenny and she was great! She made my first wax not so terrifying and made sure I was comfortable. My second visit though, was not so great. I had called in advanced that my friend and I would be a few minutes late to our appointment and front desk said that it would be "okay" and if one of us could come up while the other parked would be best. To at which we do so, I arrive not more than 15 minutes later, and when I walked in they told me they can only do one of us now and I'd be charged for the cancelation fee. I understand they have other appointments but if I called previously and front desk SAID it was "okay" then why am I going to be charged? So I waited in the waiting room while my friend got her wax. I'd just appreciate I'd be compensated instead of charged the full cancelation. read more

The receptionist Fiona was so nice and helpful. She and the Lay Bare staff were very welcoming and made the experience there a pleasant one. My appointment was with Veronica, who made me as comfortable as you can be while sitting bottomless on a table with my legs spread like butterfly wings. I appreciated that she checked to see if I was ok and continued to talk to me (through the pain). Most importantly the place was clean! I am blown away by this whole experience from start to finish. I purchased 1 Brazilian wax on Groupon for Lay Bare Waxing Salon to try out cold wax for the very first time. Let me start with the service: Making the appointment over the phone was fast and easy and they even send you an appointment confirmation via text message. Once I got to the location, they were very nice and accommodating and got me in right away with my wax specialist, Ana (even after being 10 minutes late). After the wax, I just had to complete my quick questionnaire pertaining to waxing and the lady at the front desk redeemed my Groupon voucher and off I went! Now, to my first cold wax experience: AWEEESOMMEE!!! I have tried soft wax with muslin strips and hard wax and hard wax was truly my favorite as it was least painful. However, cold wax is now my first preference and my favorite! There is absolutely NO DOUBLE DIPPING and sanitary issues because you have your own, as my wax specialist calls it, "wax ball" ^_^ They make their own wax with sugar, honey, and lemon and put it away in a small disposable container and warm it up in hot water bath to soften the wax and they use that 1 ball to wax ALL of your hair (maybe more wax balls depending on the area). The pain level is a little bit higher than hard wax (soft wax: 5/5, hard wax 2/5, cold wax 2.5/5); the .5 difference is due to the fact that because there's no pausing to let the wax harden, it is constant wax and pull. Overall, I find that with cold wax, there's less pain, less redness, less bumps, and tenderness is brief. Ana made me comfortable right away and I'm not sure what pattern she did when waxing me, but it was quick, not too painful, and easy. Love the results! This place is great!!! Second time here and the girls are so nice. Prices are super reasonable, and although it hurts like nothing has ever hurt before, the girls make the experience less horrifying. They say take a Motrin 30 minutes in advance and no caffeine....and it'll hurt less. I've yet to try that but I'm sure it works!! I definitely recommend this place. read more

So, I had a Brazilian done and I'm very pleased! Parking and location was really easy, they have a parking structure and it totally beats street parking, plus the valet were very nice and professional. The studio was easy to find, especially since the escalator comfortably moved me up to the 2nd floor. I was welcomed and the paperwork was simple and only took a minute. The service was great, I had two service technicians :). Sheryl and Olivia made me feel very comfortable, kept the conversation pleasant and me relaxed, well as relaxed as one would hope to be. I was a little hesitant to try sugaring because I've been waxing for years but I must say, this is THE BEST! The pain isn't as intense and I have very low pain tolerance. It even takes a while for the hair to grow back and there were no bumps/bruises/rashes etc. I went to Jazmin for my first visit and Danielle for the second visit. Both were awesome! I had such a great experience here. I had never had anything waxed other than my eyebrows and upper lip, so I was insanely nervous about my first bikini wax. I heard good things about sugar wax and decided that would be the best way to go for my first time. While I'm still on the fence about sugar waxing (I think hard wax is probably better, my reason for 4 stars instead of 5), I am definitely a fan of Lay Bare and their staff! I used to be regular. My favorite aesthetician left and between her and finding my next favorite, I had hits and misses. They were always kind to accommodate me (sometimes after they mistakenly cancelled my appointment but a couple of those times I was either late or had no appointment). Or they (receptionist) seemed kind. I stopped going after one particular experience. While I was in the room waiting for my aesthetician, I could overhear the receptionist talking to someone ad laughing and saying something that sounded like she was mocking both a specific customer and her customers in general. She said something in a sarcastic voice about customers always being right, she laughed, and she said "they are so stupid." I never ever went back. They have some talented girls. Some not so much. So if you must go, strongly rely on the yelp reviews for recommendations, I strongly discourage you from trying a new random person. Though I will never come again on principle. read more
