I had to go search around for the deli and found it in a case ahead of where the deli was. After circling around a couple times I found it. Also, they need to put out some hand baskets in the cart area if possible, or nearby for people to go in and quickly get some small items. They could have a little more small carts as well. Constantly going in and seeing none in the entrance area, let me know that the ratio is a little bit off. Other than that, they have some really nice premade dinners that I am always picking up and they have the best cheddar in the area in the form of sliced cheese. The market itself is well situated, where I can get in and park and get out as well.

On the right sight as you walk in, the departments are in a different order than you'd typically expect - first bakery, then deli, and produce in the back. The produce space is limited, and they were missing some items I can easily find in their other stores. The checkout area is another busy and cramped spot, and if you use the self-checkout area, there's not a lot of distance between the stations and room for your carts. Apart from that, it's going to be a basic Hannaford product and price-wise. I don't know if they have the space to do it, but this store could definitely benefit from an upgrade.

I'm not religious, but It was very sad to see this historical building that was built by working class Irish immigrants (much like my own great-grandfather who came from Ireland in the 1880s) demolished. We aren't from Watervliet, but my parents would sometimes attend this church. To be fair, this church building did need a lot of expensive repair work done and I don't think the diocese could afford it. I always liked driving through 'vliet and seeing this majestic building that looked like something you might see in NYC. I'm sad to see a Price Chopper in it's place. As you can imagine, there was some controversy over this church being torn down and this store being built. To be honest, the old PC in this neighborhood was in very rough shape and kind of gross. I would very rarely stop there. This store is better, but still a little dirty. I'm surprised to see how worn this place looks since it is very new. This PC doesn't have a dedicated florist like the stores in more affluent neighborhoods like Latham or Clifton Park stores, but they did have some fresh looking pre-arranged bouquets. In the front corner of the store there is a dedicated snack and beer area. They have the make your own 6 pack of craft beers available, but the selection was much more limited compared to the Latham store. Prices are a bit on the high side, someone has to pay for all of the renovations of the stores in this chain. The produce section at this store does seem to be an improvement over the former store. Just kind of a meh experience.

Today was the third time since December that they have screwed me over by either not making the order, or getting it wrong. I was willing to give them another chance after the first two mistakes figuring the third time would be the charm, and I was wrong. The woman who took my order repeated it back to me and it was correct, but when I picked it up the woman who handed it to me said they didn't write it down on the order sheet. Obviously quality control is something that they don't take seriously here. Next time it's Hannaford for me.

Of course, by early November the outdoor market has moved indoors and we have little idea what the waterfront outdoor market looks like, but I've gotta say I'm impressed. I'm impressed with the organisation of the so many vendors in different corners of the two-floor space, and the variety and quality of the goodies available. Pretty much all cooked foods were upstairs with tables and chairs dotted amongst vendors, and the offerings ranged from West African and Caribbean American to dumplings, crepes, and empanadas. There was a "makers" room with clothing, jewlery, pottery, and other knickknacks, and produce, Belgian sugar waffles, and dried flower arrangements lined the middle section of the ground level. Probably the biggest room was in the back corner across from the 'booze' section, and this is where we see the dairy, dips, honey, peanut butter, gourds, pickles, and lots of baked goods, some of which we couldn't resist. We ended up with a small haul from Golden Blend Bakehouse, Our Daily Bread, and The Placid Baker. I'm be sure to follow up on how the baked goods go but the farmers market was impressive and I'm glad this has become a real landmark in the Capital Region. Parking is available among the street (mostly metred) and near the waterfront. We'll be back.
