I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in, by the size, brightness, and cleanliness of this place! (The bathrooms were also really wel kept). We stopped in for lunch and split a captain's platter. The portion was plenty for two of us for lunch. The food was ok. Not the freshest tasting, but it was fried bar food, so not expecting the world's best seafood. I shouldn't make assumptions, but it did seem like some of the items were pre-packaged, frozen items. I would love to give this place an extra half-star, based on the bartender. She was great, with the perfect balance of providing good service and allowing us to enjoy our lunch. She also helped us with some recommendations of other places to check it out. read more

The energy and attitude of every staff member I've encountered is 100% combative, discriminatory and toxic. I am overcharged and grossly underpoured every freaking time. I also believe that good old H2O is added to the bottle in a substantial amount and on a regular basis as standard business practice. I believe that they do this for all of the 'well' alcohol. It is common to hear disgruntled employees behind the bar criticizing management and ownership openly, discussing details of their dissatisfaction with clients sitting down for a beer or a meal. The behavior is Absolutely RIDICULOUS. $17 for a 1 OZ shot of Jamison's whiskey with a tablespoon of hazelnut liqueur sprinkled on top. No ice. No straw. No napkin. Shameful. I hope the owners stop this nonsense immediately and fire every single employee who is a workforce CANCER and a liability to the business. I will not go back until that happens. They arrived steaming, like they just came out of a microwave. They were most definitely not sautéed. Dry, and no seasoning at all. They tasted rubbery. That was $16.00 for 6 of the worst shrimp ever. I spoke to 3 different employees about it. The third one insisted they were not microwaved, and said they cook them in a pot of water with lemon. Bar staff is solid, tends to patrons frequently making sure all is good. Chefs work in plain sight, clearly without gloves... We observed both chefs touching raw meat, then touching other food product without washing hands, just a quick wipe on the apron to clean up. Accommodating with grace a bunch of people who got stuck on a rainy Thursday night couldn't have been easy or fun, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you for staying open until the highway was passable!! Shrimp lover's casserole? Believe me, it's the featured dish on the menu and it is very tasty! A combination of huge shrimp, bacon, spinach, pasta and cheese all baked together. The shrimp is big and plentiful. The accompanying garlic bread wasn't great. Not billowy and soft but basically large croutons. Still the casserole was worth it. The atmosphere is sports bar like - lots of monitors and dimly lit but the service is exceptional and very friendly and thoughtful. Food was consistently good! FOOD: we also ordered the chicken fingers, Sea Note Dog (pig in a blanket), and wings. All were good. The fries were overcooked (burnt) but the rest of the food was tasty. The Sea Note Dog was fun. I'm a fan of the Sea Note. It's definitely more of a bar than a restaurant, but because it's beautiful inside and well-lit with natural light, you wouldn't really know it. The food is solid and better than average bar food- the flatbreads we get are tasty, the wings are very good, and the tots are cronchy. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is their painfully domestic beer selection. They do have a bunch of Depoe Bay beers, but the menu formatting makes it so you can't even tell that's what they are. This place is very clean. The dining and bar area are so clean and filled with light during the daytime. One gets the impression that the cleanliness extends into the kitchen. We had a meatball sub and the calamari. I would have added grilled onions and peppers to the sub, but it was very nice. A crispy crust with a tender interior to the bread. Nicely spiced meatballs. The calamari was some sort of prefabricated breaded stick-like things. It was pretty much tasteless. They put signs everywhere about how they price everything to compensate for credit card processing fees. This has the effect of making credit and debit customers feel unwelcome. A lot of restaurants just put a notice on the menu that says they prefer cash and leave it at that. The signage makes me think the management have lost the ability to look at this place from their customer's perspective. I walk in the door and there is a sign about credit cards and prices. Before I even order, this place tries to make their problems my problems. It made me feel unwelcome. The service was attentive and glacially slow. The server said everything happens at once. She said she would be right back, but next took the order of the table next us. It was not wrong to take their order, but why promise to do something immediately and then you don't? She was the only server, but went to the back parking to chat with a guy about to drive away. The optics of her choices made no sense and were mildly annoying. If you're busy, be busy. Wait tables, chat with friends later. Customers who endure glacially slow service have little else to do but watch your every move. The other reviews take issue with to go fees. Such fees are an industry standard, I think the issue is a lack of a graciousness on the part of the server. The food is okay, not great. The service was inconsistent. Happy to see a place open later on the coast. Got into town late and the Sea Note was open later than 8pm. Nice interior and clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. Selection of draft and food is more than adequate. Food is serviceable but nothing to write home about. Sysco food elevated to diner status is all I can really say. Prices are high, yes I get it's a coast town and yes I get it's the only place open late but a hamburger patty slathered in instant gravy is not Salisbury steak and should not be 22$. We were able to sit outside with our pup, and the pointed us to the water so we could refill the existing dog bowl. My wife was holding a hot coffee from the green salmon cafe across the street and the wait person said Oregon law doesn't allow us to bring it in. So as I went back outside to put her coffee in the car, my family was seated (family section) and they were asked what they wanted to drink. When I return a few moments later the wait person did come back to take my drink order. What I think is weird, an 18 yr old can't sit at a table in the non family area with her parents yet it's ok to to the same in the family area when my beer is 2 feet from where she is sitting - crazy So anyway we were able to get a good view of one of the many TV screens to watch the game Other observations Several people came to be seated and were not wearing masks even though there is a large sign on the door saying it's required by law read more

Seven of us spent two hours waiting for our food today, ordering only four different orders. Four of the orders were chicken strips and those were of a tiny amount. We had to ask for water three times while waiting for the meals to arrive. People who arrived after us received their food, drank their drinks and left while we continued to wait. The hamburger was raw, fries and strips were cooked in old oil. When we discussed the matter with staff, the only compensation was the burger order was taken off and excuse of "We are so busy." I decided to give this place a try based on the good reviews rather than the complaining ones, and I'm sure glad I did! We came here for a casual dinner at the end of a day of traveling. We enjoyed local craft beer. My husband ordered the clam basket with fries, and I ordered the shrimp basket with tots. Our servers were friendly and working their tails off as one of the cooks had called in sick earlier that evening. The food was really good. I would definitely eat here again. There are quite a few tvs around the place airing various sports - we were watching pre-Olympics. It was a fun evening. Don't believe the reviews that say this place is horrible. We often visit Yachats, it's our 'home' outside of Portland and this lounge (with plenty of parking) is non assuming from the outside. Once you go inside it's 'sports bar' like except with these beautiful wood tables and a gorgeous wood inlay bar. Stopped in with a pal who was in desperate need of some vodka medicine. I had no idea I would order food but we ended up sharing some oyster casserole that was lick your plate good. Since we are Keto learning we asked the super sweet and very funny waitress to hold the bread and she offered to supplement sliced tomato. Excellent service- I wish I would of caught her name as she is worthy of mentioning as her kindness and excellent service made this a 5 star experience. Overall- don't judge this place like I did by the outside, it's a worthy stop in Yachats. I understand they sometimes have live music so we plan to check that out next time. Went here for breakfast! They are following covid protocol, and we were able to sit at the bar. The eggs benedict was fantastic; Hollendaise sauce was to die for! Yay! Hooray for these people to open a new place to eat in Yachats. It was nice to have a new place to choose from. And this place didn't disappoint. The tables round the bar and high tops and there are picnic tables outside if you eat there when its warm out. The nice large bar in the center look lively and new and inviting. The waitress we had was so nice and personable. They were brand new and still learning so it took quite a while to get the food but that said food was spectacular! I opted for the chicken sandwich special with pesto. It had a punch of flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The balance of this dish made me realize the professionalism and talent of the boisterous chef in the kitchen. He looked like he was having a lot of fun for sure:). And of course TATER TOTS! Im so happy some one decided to start the trend of bringing these suckers back! Very nostalgic of childhood. My hubs ordered the fish and chips. These were so light and airy! It seemed almost to be baked in panic bread crumbs, Im sure it probably was fried, but it wasn't not oily one bit and seemed so healthy. The only thing I could say negative about this dish was the Cole slaw didn't have any dressing. It was plain cabbage on the side. This may be indicative of being very new and still getting their machine well oiled. The shrimp casserole was something I was weary about but the waitress said it was superb, and meant for 2 people. My mom being a good sport decided to then share it with my dad. They loved it and shared a very fresh crisp house sale with the best bleu cheese dressing. Last night, we hit our usual fave in Yachats for a late dinner right at 9:00 pm, only to remember that their particular sidewalk rolls up early. For a moment, we worried we might not get dinner, then the staffer turning us away at the first place said, "Hit the Sea Note! They have awesome food!" He was right. We asked for a piece of bread or two right when we arrived, because we were famished and starting to fade. What arrived was garlic toast made with fresh garlic on bread with a strong crumb and crust with just enough bend, sprinkled with fresh Italian parsley that had that slight whiff of anise. It was perfect! The prawn cocktail had 6 large, incredibly fresh prawns on a bed of bay shrimp, celery and greens. Lemon and more parsley accompanied. My guy got the fish tacos made with cod, perfectly seasoned and lightly fried with panko crust. A nicely spicy black bean salsa with mango, shredded cabbage, and a crema sauce made great foils to the fish and tender corn tortillas. I had the flatbread of the day after seeing it at a neighboring table. It was a large square base, tender towards the middle and crispy around the edges, lightly brushed with pesto, layered in garlicky greens, artichoke hearts and sautéed mushrooms. The cheese on top was the perfect amount--not smothering, but not too light. Just right. Cider, beer, and full bar, oh my! The Sea Note has all the options! I'd be giving this new pub a full five stars, save one thing: all the neon beer signs gave it a pretty cheesy old school bar vibe and it needs to be called something other than a "lounge."
