Cool little diner tucked down on Main St in the logging town of Toledo. A total time warp of a place, vintage vibe, with cozy red leather (vinyl?) booths and all. The food is fresh and the portions are healthy and the friendly service is straight out of the 1950s. I'd heard it was the best breakfast in town, and our breakfast sandwich, piled high with a fried egg, a giant slab of bacon and lots of gooey cheese on an English muffin, sure as heck did not disappoint. It's a proper diner, so nothing fancy or frilly here, just good ol comfort food, and that's ok by me. Down a narrow stairway there's a totally separate lounge room with a full bar, pool table and TVs downstairs (with the same menu) if you're looking for a completely different ambiance. This used to be one of my favorite bars, and it genuinely pains me to write this review. Tonight was the last straw. I am currently sick at home and my fiance was kind enough to place a to-go order on my behalf. What he brought back was nothing but disappointment. The salad arrived hot and completely wilted because all to-go orders are bagged together regardless of temperature. When I reached out via Facebook Messenger to request a refund, an owner informed me this is done to "keep costs down." That logic falls apart when you are issuing refunds for inedible food. The owner offered a refund for the burger only, refusing to refund the salad based on their own packaging policy. The burger itself had little to no lettuce on it, and what was there looked like it had been through the wringer before it ever hit the plate. To add to that, there were only three tiny ringlets of raw onion on it, sliced so thin they were practically transparent. My burger was also missing its tomato entirely, which is ironic considering that every single time I have ordered a salad here the tomatoes have been sour, yet the tomatoes on the burgers are apparently always fresh. But the food was not even the worst part. When I called to request a refund, I was met with Savannah, someone I actually know from the bar and who has always been kind to me in the past. I do not know what was going on that night, but I have never been treated that way by her before. She talked over me repeatedly, would not let me finish a single sentence, put words in my mouth, cussed me out, told me I had "no clue what I was talking about," and ultimately told me she "didn't have time for this" and hung up on me. After reaching out via Facebook Messenger, the owner offered to refund me $9.25, when the burger was clearly priced at $9.75 on my receipt. I will not be returning or recommending this establishment to anyone. Truly heartbreaking for a place that used to feel like home. 3/02/26 UPDATE: Since leaving this review, the situation has only gotten worse. After days of back and forth messages simply trying to obtain a refund and a basic apology, I have now been added to the establishment's 86 list. Not for being rude. Not for causing problems. For following up on a legitimate complaint about food quality and being cussed at by a staff member. No apology was ever offered for the food or for how I was spoken to. The only action taken was against me, the customer who was wronged. I was then blocked from their facebook business page entirely, presumably to prevent me from updating my review. A refund and an apology are the bare minimum any business should offer when a staff member cuses a customer out and hangs up on them. Instead I was banned and silenced. That tells you everything you need to know about how this establishment handles accountability. I have the phone call recorded and the entire message exchange documented. read more

I ordered the Chef's salad, it was so good, it came with lots of meat and ingredients! Huge portion, fresh tomatoes/lettuce/ham etc, really worth the price! I was so full after this big salad! I think it will cost probably $25 in LA, but they only charger $9! I also had the coffee, tasted good, great price too! The service was also very good, staff are friendly polite and welcoming. I had to do a meeting, they told me stay as long as you want, and if I need anything just call them. They are so nice and warm! I wanna thank you for your great service! I come here usually every other Thursday because I have clients here in Toledo, and it never disappoints. It's nothing fancy, but it's the best diner in town in my opinion. They make homemade soups, their breakfast is the best around and staff are usually friendly. It's got a casual ambiance, like a small town diner feel. I've had quite a few items on the menu and they are all good, but you have to come for the breakfast. I also know the owners personally and can't say enough good things about them. read more

Dinner for 5 on 4/26. two ha d catch of the day, halibut; wonderful, large filet, properly cooked. Two had prime rib with yorkshire pudding and baked potato. Excellent. Fifth person, six-year-old, had mac and cheese with home fries - ate the fries, not so much the mac. All-in-all, great meal. A plus was the outside playground; the kid nloved it and went there 3 times. Great service, nice environment, easy parking. What's not to like? The only 'nit' would be the dull steak knives. An easy fix. Buy some Wusthoffs and don't put them in the dishwasher! read more

The Timbers is a place most in the Toledo area have eaten. I've always been pleased with their food and especially enjoy their cheeseburger baskets (cheeseburger and fries). They historically have been there on main street for decades and is a gathering and meeting place for so many in this area. I've always been met with a friendly greeting as I enter the door, even when I lived in another state I would come home for a visit and was greeted like an old friend even with new owners! read more

We stumbled upon this place while visiting Toledo today and I have to say what a pleasant surprise it was. This place is your classic greasy spoon diner and I mean that in the best way possible. Some of the other reviews are complaining about the condition of the bathroom, but whatever. I don't see a relationship between the bathroom and the food. The food was very good! Between the three of us we sampled a breakfast, lunch, and dinner entree and it was all fantastic. The service was also great. Both the server and cook staff were so nice and they really bent over backwards to try and accommodate some dietary restrictions. The cook took pride in making the food delicious, despite the restrictions. This is a nice little diner in a town that deserves your business. Take it from a guy who loves to eat! read more

We enjoyed the food, better lighting than most previous years, the only reason I have not given them a five star upon our first visit since the establishments' new management, is simply because of the still continuing construction. The woman may of assumed I was from out of town so I would never come back anyway. I wouldn't go back under any circumstance. I am actually moving here. She totally ignored me served customers who came after me. Finally took my order. I was to get a soup, never got it. Brought my steak overcooked, baked potatoes no fixings a bowl of disgusting vegetables. Asked about a drink which I never got. Timbers offers something unique to Toledo, a full bar! It is definitely not a fancy place with cocktail specialties or anything, but it is a good place to grab a traditional simple drink or diner style food. The restaurant and lounge definitely could use a remodel and update, but that is also part of its charm in a way. The staff are all very nice in both the restaurant and lounge, but more so in the lounge, you definitely can tell that they are not experts in their craft as you'd find from a bartender in a big city. That being said, it is the only real full bar in Toledo so I take what I can get! read more

Came up from southern Oregon to visit some family, we wanted to go out to lunch and chose Timbers. There was one group ordering before us but the host was able to help us within a few minutes of entering. We placed our order with no problems but then waited 43 minutes until the waitress came and told us our food was just now being started. Then awkwardly stood there staring at us until we said we have other things to do today. She said we can get it to go, but that meant we had to wait another 22 minutes for our food. Waitress didn't comp any meals or give us free drinks that we didn't touch. All in all this place is a joke, wont ever step foot near there again. read more

If you come here you must order the Monte Christo sandwich! It is a delicious and marvelous delicacy that consists of a club sandwich made with french toast! It is so good! We come here from Newport from time to time just to have the great breakfast! They have wonderful coffee too. Cool pictures on the wall to look at while you are eating too.
