New Rheem outside unit on new slab.
    Bob E.

I have written a few reviews for Barker A/C & Electric over the years. Last month, my central AC unit that Barker had kept going forever finally bit the dust. Many times over the past 15 years, every tech would say after fixing this part or replacing another, you know, someday soon you will have to replace this system. The inside parts, including the coils, etc., were original from when the house was built in 1976; the outside fan and condenser were replaced about 15 years ago. I never expected to have anyone but Buddy at Barker AC to replace my home's system, but because I was getting some help with paying for it I had to get a couple of estimates. All I will say is that nobody else who came out and gave me a quote came anywhere close to the quote I got from Eric at Barker! I got a top-quality 4-ton Rheem system, full installation, which included removing the original poured concrete slab it sat on, replacing it with a brand new and beautifully white concrete pad. They did everything anyone, even the most demanding Yenta, could think of. They left my utility room twice as clean as it was before arriving. They did the full removal and installation, including the electric work, and had the new system up and running in less than one full work day. Because I am a loyal customer of over 20 years, and I am a U. S. Navy veteran, Barker sharpened their proverbial pencil and gave me the deal of the century that included everything I asked for, including a new fancy thermostat, and also included a 10-year parts and labor warranty!! Every other company offered a 2-year full parts and labor warranty, and for just a couple thousand dollars more, they would upgrade the warranty to last for 10 years, which Barker AC & Electric included up-front. If I hadn't already had enough great service from Barker over the last couple of decades to warrant a guaranteed 5-star rating, they sure have gone over the top now. Oh yeah, they also give you a month to pay after the house is cold. As Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda) would say, Barker AC is the "Finest Kind"!

The young man knew what to do. This was not his first rodeo. He fixed the problem. He made sure it wouldn't happen again.

I called Climate Experts to fix a cracked PVC pipe on the outlet side of my water softener filter…read more The repair involved exposing and replacing a roughly 2-foot section of pipe (3/4" to 2"), and it completely resolved the issue with my water softener system. The technician was friendly and knew what he was doing; he worked efficiently and had it sorted without any hassle. My only real note is on price: the repair was on the expensive side for what it was. That said, the work was done right, and the problem was fixed, which ultimately matters most. Overall a solid experience, and I'd consider them again for future plumbing needs.

Below is a detailed account of the situation, including the timeline, agreements, and subsequent issues: Timeline and Agreements Initial Quote and Agreement: On 5 February 2025, Climate Experts provided a quote for installing a customer-supplied water heater. The quote explicitly stated: "The replacement water heater can be installed either in the attic space where the existing one currently is (provided it fits in the attic access), or it can be installed in the garage. Either location, pricing valid for either.", "*Installation includes all required wiring & water lines." Pictures and requested information were provided by my realtor to assist in preparing the quote. Additional detailed pictures of the house layout were available online via the property listing. I signed the quote on 7 February 2025 and paid $2,150 on 9 February 2025. Tech Visit and Refusal to Install: The technician arrived at the property and stated that the supplied water heater could not be installed in the attic due to its hybrid nature, weight concerns, and potential condensation issues. I requested that the water heater be installed in the garage, as explicitly stated in the signed quote. Climate Experts refused, claiming the situation was not as expected and that installation in the garage would cost more than the quoted and paid amount. Forced Purchase of Additional Water Heater: Due to time constraints related to the sale of the house, Climate Experts leveraged the urgency of the situation, leaving me with no choice but to purchase the recommended water heater for installation in the attic. The new water heater was installed with an invoice dated 17 February 2025 and signed 13 February 2025. Issues and Concerns Failure to Honor Signed Quote: The signed quote explicitly stated that the water heater could be installed in the garage. Climate Experts refused to honor this agreement, citing additional costs and unforeseen circumstances despite having sufficient information (pictures, listing details, etc.) to prepare the quote. Lack of Due Diligence: Climate Experts did not send a technician to inspect the property prior to providing the quote, despite my realtor offering flexibility to accommodate a visit. This oversight led to inaccurate assumptions and subsequent issues. Leverage of Time Constraints: Climate Experts leveraged the urgency of the situation, forcing me to purchase an additional water heater to meet the inspection requirements for selling the house. Financial Impact: I incurred additional costs due to Climate Experts' refusal to honor the original agreement and their lack of due diligence.

My first step when hiring a company for a major project is always to read reviews. We received…read morequotes from two different companies, and when this company came out, the representative explained that they have been serving Port St. Lucie for a long time and that the business is still independently owned rather than being sold to a larger corporation. That's something I really appreciate because it's becoming harder and harder to find locally owned companies these days. The only frustrating part of the process was getting an updated quote. We had waited too long, and the original estimate had expired. My husband called the office several times, and each time they had to take down all of his information again because it apparently had never been entered into the system. That seemed a bit unusual, as I would expect everyone to have access to the same customer information. After discussing our options with the salesman, we decided to move forward. The installation was scheduled just a few days later. We had both the inside and outside units replaced. The crew arrived around 9:00 a.m. and finished shortly after 2:00 p.m. One of the heater components that was delivered was incorrect, but we were informed that the technician would return with the correct part. The installers were friendly, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. I chatted with them a few times throughout the day, and they worked efficiently to get everything completed. The installation also included a new thermostat, with the cost. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our electric bill will drop significantly. Our old system seemed to run nonstop, and I'm hoping this new, more efficient unit will make a noticeable difference. With the energy savings, I'm optimistic that the investment will pay for itself within a few years.

All of them determined there is a huge leak in my evap coil, and I would need to get an entire new system for thousands of dollars. A/C Doctors was the only one to realise there was something else amiss, and to take the time and properly diagnose the issue. Turns out it was a plugged up valve. They fixed the valve for a fraction of the price of the other companies, and now my A/C is running ice cold. If you need help with your A/C but don't know who to call, this is it, this is the company you are looking for. Knowledgeable, communicative, no nonsense service. 4 other companies got it wrong. A/C Doctors got it right.

I asked them what if I have an emergency on my A/C they said they will be able to come that day but they will charge $89 for diagnostic. We set an appointment few days later. The technician came and told me that one of the unit need a new blow motor. I have a full labor and part warranty from the MFR. but they charge me diagnostic charge off $89 + $ 150 what they call "processing fee" which is a simple money grab. sound to me to me like a form of classic bait and switch technique.( they came the flowing week and change the motor it took the technician only 15 minutes sharp to replace the motor, they got $150 from the MFG as Josh told me + 150 +89 =$389.) As far as the 2nd unit it was working perfectly well before they "serviced it" 2 hours after the technician left the system shut down and I noticed that the pan below the system which was bone dry was full of water water the technician said that I need a new drain line which they will charge $1000, Called other companies and replacing a drain line run $500-$800. Turned out that the drain line didn't needed a replacement but just a correct opening the clog. I did pay them the $ 150 "grab money" but they called me already twice to pay it. Just remember when something look too good to be true it probably is. Don't fall for their $29/$39 bait.

I heard a lot of good things about Jim Rott HVAC but have not personally used them. This review is…read morein reference to a quote that I received from them. I requested a quote for a mini split for our master bedroom to save money at night. Our home is two-story and the master bedroom is the only occupied room downstairs at night, so a mini split makes perfect sense. I received three quotes, all varying about $500, for different quality units. One quote was the cheapest, but I would not allow that particular unit to be installed due to the mediocre quality. Among top tier units, (Gree & Mitsubishi, 2 of the 3 quotes), there's only a $230 difference, but there is a big efficiency difference between them, so the price difference makes sense. I decided to contact Jim Rott because I did hear good things about this company. They also quoted for a Gree unit, however, they came in more than $1,600 more than the next highest bid ($4111 vs $2500), and the $2,500 unit was a 26.4 seer Mitsubishi. The Gree is a 19.5 seer. The quote for the other identical (same seer & size at least) Gree unit was $2100, so Rott was $2111 more than the same unit, installed, from another company. I looked up the price of that unit and several HVAC supply companies range from $1048 to $1400. IMO, $800 to $1,000 for about 2 hours work seems reasonable for a legitimate HVAC company, however, ~ $2111 is not in my opinion. I already had a dedicated electrical box installed, with disconnect, so everything is ready to go. The istall should not have taken more than 2 hours since the area has very easy access. I'm confident that this company does good work, however in my opinion, this quote is obscene. $1,600 more for a significantly less efficient unit is beyond unacceptable. After explaining all of this, they stated that if I received a cheaper quote, go that route. No problem! I certainly don't need their permission to get a better unit for less money. Good luck Jim Rott with that business model. The absolute lack of concern or care for the price discrepancy was the most disturbing part of this process.
