I recently visited Barker's farm-stand. I was overwhelmed as I looked over the many and unique products they offer for sale. Items including beauty products, food, sauces,preserves, Jams, chocolates and much more! They feature a deli and will make you a sandwich on the spot with some of the freshest ingredients I have ever tasted. The delightful and friendly woman who made my sandwich thanked me for my business and asked me to come again. It was nice to see gratitude for my patronage of their business, nice touch. I live in Hamilton, so I usually go to my local farm-stand but I would certainly make the drive to North Andover to visit Barker's farm-stand again! read more

Since I wrote two reviews on farms already (Smolak and Turkey Hill) I figured I should write one on Barker's as it's the one that has been nearest and dearest to my heart--oh childhood memories. Growing up, this farm was steps from my backyard and I would always walk over with the neighborhood hooligans to poke the animals and inhale some tasty fudge (fat kid). Barker's is one of, if not the oldest farm in town, dating back to 1642 (NA was established in 1646) and has been run by 10 generations of the Barker family. There's a cute little farmstand with fresh vegetables (corn!), baked goods (fudge!), fruit (apples!), flowers, plants, and whatever else. There is also an area around the back of the barn where you can go look at the variety of animals they have and take in a deep breath of fresh animal stench. Barker's also offers your seasonal needs such as pumpkins, Christmas trees, etc. In comparison, Smolak Farm in North Andover is your 5-star place to go, but Barker's will always have that special place in my heart and that's why I love it. read more

Went to Barker's to pick some apples, left with dinner for tonight and produce for three days. Decided to stop here for apple picking to avoid other amenities certain farms may offer (animals & ice cream) as it was a before dinner excursion that I wanted to go quickly and smoothly. If going with young child en, this place is a hot spot! Branches with ripe, luscious apples hanging almost to the ground. The short walk out the font door is also mighty convenient when you child won't walk on grass (Mia). The absence of the "flare" of hayrides and such (not that these are bad things) has given way to their extremely reasonable prices. The woman who helped us was friendly ... and patient (kids). Loved the produce (corns cooking now :), immediately wanted to take one of everything! Will be heading back to try the turkey pie...my nemesis (in a good way). Wide variety of produce, fresh breads and jarred goodies. Would suggest Baker's for pit stops on the way home, and a quick/quiet time with kids (during picking seasons). read more

Very rude person that works the register. Went in to get some tomatoes, which are priced higher than most grocery stores but I can understand that they are a small farm stand and need to charge more for their produce. I was picking up tomatoes and carefully moving them around to find ones that weren't overly ripe. The woman at the register told me not to pick through the tomatoes because "they are all good". In my opinion, if you don't want people picking through the produce than you shouldn't be running a farm stand. I didn't say anything to her, I just put the tomatoes I had picked out back in the bin and walked out. I'll never go back there again. Too many other farm stands out there that don't scold you for trying to find produce that you are happy with. read more

The simple pure farm stand experience, without the amusement park feeling. A favorite for that reason. I understand why some farms go the cotton candy, hay maze and hay ride route. I also understand why some farm stands seem to sell.... everything. I do. But that, is why I prefer here to there. read more

I like to give my business to this farm stand. The best corn around. Apples too. Prices are fair for a farm stand. As Jeffrey stated, it is the oldest family run farm, I believe, in New England. This MAY be the last generation, and they haven't sold out. I don't think the owners are smug, I think they are farmers. I, too, remember the Barker's AND Smolak's from my youth. There is nothing fancy and yuppified about this farm stand. It's a farm stand, somewhere close and convenient to buy fresh veggies and fruit. Simple. read more

My wife and I took our two sons (ages 3 & 1) apple picking here last weekend. The trees were loaded with apples and they even had plenty of lower apples on the branches for our boys to pick them. The service is very friendly and the prices are very competitive with the surrounding orchards. They also have a great selection of produce and pumpkins. The orchard itself has many different kinds of apples and wasn't over crowded and the walk is very short from your car. read more

Don't bother! Poor selections and overpriced.Am a new resident in the area nearby, went in for turkey pot pie (a resale) from another farm. Quantities of pies, fruits, etc. seemed very limited and overpriced. Furthermore, i just get a sense of smugness from the owner(s), like we're the only game around. We can compare them with some other farms of this sort; Mann orchards, ten times the stock and variety also a bit pricey though and pies overrated. Inglesby farm, a better shopping experience overall, though a bit out of the way from major highways. better varieties and quantities. One of my best farm produce experiences(if not the best), was up at Mack's apple farms in londonderry, N.H.) Shop there, esp. around cider time and then compare some other places! read more

My favorite farm in North Andover! It has the true farm feel, and a vast variety of fresh veggies and fruit at reasonable prices. Definitely the best corn in the area too. I will not go anywhere else during the summer months - Barkers is the best. read more
