Only problem I have with them is that most companies I've worked with will apply the service call fee (~$125 in this case) towards the actual repair if a repair is needed, and Register Appliance does not. Generally, the service call fee is to cover the cost of sending a service tech out when no actual service is needed--and maybe covering a very, very simple fix (like tightening a loose hose or something). In this company's case, this is not true. To be clear, I was informed of this when I booked them, so this was NOT a surprise, but I was also in a bit of a tough spot, as my mother needed a working dryer immediately.

A year after we moved into this house our HVAC system died and they replaced it with a Carrier which worked great for 16 years (low end of the expected life) until it died last December on the second 5 degree night we had. We really needed some heat! We are on the JBAC annual maintenance plan and the tech came out at 10 PM and said, yep, it's dead. (Luckily we had a gas fireplace to keep us from freezing.) Estimator came the next day, showed us some options, and the day after that a crew came out and installed a hybrid gas/heat pump system which has worked great for the past 8 months. I enjoyed the annual maintenance included with the JBAC plan, and it has more or less paid for itself in reducing or eliminating service fees for other issues. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was about 10 years ago they installed a pricey UV air purifier unit (my wife had asthma) which died a few weeks after the warranty ran out. Hopefully they don't continue to peddle bad products, but the rest of their work has been great and they are always polite and friendly.

My reptile room and incubator are in the basement as well. They're on timers so I didn't notice until I went to do cleaning and feedings. Thankfully they were ok. Accidents happen but they took zero responsibility when my husband called on Monday and basically called us liars. The cost to fix my sensor is more than what we were charged for the service, so I'd say they're not worth it. The person that hit it knows they hit it and chose to not say anything at the time and then chose to straight up lie about it.
