I'm genuinely confused how this place stays in business. I have tried on many occasions to use this location for grooming and have had pretty much the same negative experiences each time. They have the WORST communication of any business I've ever seen. They do not answer their phone regularly - it always goes to voicemail and on top of that, they don't return those voicemails. I was able to finally reach someone after multiple days of calling to schedule an appointment. Appointment is schedule for 2 weeks out - that's great. Day of appointment comes, groomer calls out sick - I get it, no worries. They move my appointment to the following week on a Friday, same time - again, great, that works. I call Tuesday to confirm the time of my appointment - no answer, nothing returned. Same with my calls Wednesday and Thursday. No answer, no call back to VM. Show up on Friday, with the idea that my appointment was the same time that I was told 3 weeks ago. The person checking me in tells me, "We had your appointment down for an hour earlier and we're booked for the day, we can reschedule you for 3 weeks from now." No thanks. Our experience with The Bark Zone has always been great. We have been 10-15 times since moving here and found that they are friendly, polite and always do a great job. Love BarkZone in Lake O. I have been going to Bark Zone for about 7.5 years on a regular basis. I always use MYRA because she has a lot of expertise & experience in grooming my rare breed dog. I have an "Irish Water Spaniel" and they are not a breed most groomers have the skill to make look good. I have other short haired purebred dogs too, but they are simple to clean & groom. Most groomers have never even seen an IWS! Generally, they are hand scissored & so it is definitely a job for a experienced & skilled groomer. They look a bit like a poodle & have a topknot & curls. I also successfully showed my dog in conformation at AKC dog shows & he became a champion & looked beautiful thanks to MYRA. I have had many people stop me on the street to ask where I get my dog groomed? It happened so often, I started to carry business cards for Bark Zone & MYRA! Lol!! I've referred many friends & acquaintances to the shop & they have all been very happy with the job she did. There is another excellent groomer at Bark Zone called JANELLE. SHE's excellent too. They are so kind to all the dogs (even if they are being a pill!) & they always seem to notice tiny details about your dog! I know both of these groomers have shown owners something on their dog that was unusual & probably should be seen by a vet. That alone gives me piece of mind. Love having my dog come home from Bark Zone happy & clean!! PS- I noticed a negative review from someone that said they gave instructions for how they "wanted" their dog groomed & they came back to find their dog shaved down. I must make a comment about this! Let me say from years of experience, that most people do not know how matted their dogs hair can be! It would be too painful & unkind to the dog to try to comb out snarled, tangled patches of hair. Tangled hair gets worse over time & goes right to the skin of the dog. It is much kinder to shave the dog down & start growing the hair back. That doesn't hurt the dog, and they have a positive e petite cr at the groomer! Groomers aren't miracle workers! And I can almost guarantee that that owner of that dog does not schedule grooming appointments regularly & most assuredly has not kept up with the daily or weekly grooming their dog really needs! I'm sorry to be so blunt, but I don't think the dog owner took responsibility for their dog's grooming maintenance! read more

This establishment does not follow specific instructions. They absolutely butchered our dogs haircut. We are extremely disappointed. I had seen great reviews on google for barkzone and felt excited to have our dog go there. I should have come to yelp first for the real deal reviews! Instead of a clean up cut- we get a haphazard shave down that is NOT what was requested at all. I do NOT recommend going here. We will never be back. read more

Update: After leaving the below review, the owner of BarkZone contacted me and was professional and polite. We received a full refund and the owner encouraged us to return and visit a different groomer on his staff, but made it very clear he understood he would have to earn our business back. I give his customer service skills a 10 and updated the stars on this review to reflect his prompt attention and professional manner. I've never left a review before but this place was so terrible I don't want other pet owners to have a bad experience. My boyfriend and I brought his 5-year old Goldendoodle here for a haircut. The dog was overdue and we knew he'd have to be shaved pretty close to the skin. The woman who helped us was pretty short with us, and didn't seem interested in providing any type of customer experience. We asked for the dog's head to be kept as long as possible. The woman grabbed at his head and said she didn't have time to comb through all the matting. I know Goldendoodle fur/hair mats, and we explained we just wanted it kept as long as possible. When we retrieved our dog, he seemed happy (all other groomers he's been to comment on how well-behaved he is). A few hours later, we noticed he seemed a little quiet, and the bridge of his snout was red. Upon closer inspection, his nose was cut. Further inspection led to us discovering more cuts behind his hears, next to his nose, and on his back. These were not just nicks, but shaving all the way to skin, in multiple places. He was clearly depressed/subdued because of this and we feel terrible. The groomer didn't even have the respect for us or the dog to give us a heads up about this. So unprofessional. We will not be supporting this business anymore and don't want other pet owners to experience what we did. read more

I have never left a review. This is a first and I felt compelled to do so. I dropped my beautiful Bernedoodle off this morning with instructions to trim her face, sanitary trim and brush her out. I even agreed to pay the extra $30 for this service. I specifically said- I don't want her to look like a poodle cut- at all. 4 hours later- I pick up my sweet baby and she looks like a poorly cut standard poodle. Her beard is gone and lopsided even. I'm very upset. I paid my $75 and walked out. NEVER to return and will be sure to NOT recommend BarkZone. I hardly ever write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I have a one year old goldendoodle, I've taken him to the same groomer since he was a few months old (Oswego Vet Hospital's groomer, highly recommend). Anyway, my dogs nails were long and I was taking him to my brothers house that evening. My regular groomer was closed, so I called BarkZone to see if I could make an appointment that day to get them cut and rounded (so he wouldn't scratch my brothers hardwood floors). The lady on the phone seemed pretty nice and I made an appointment to bring him in. I showed up for my appointment with my dog. The place was messy, very loud and there was a lady sitting there grooming a dog. She barely acknowledged I was there. I told her I had an appointment and she yelled into the back. Another lady comes out with dog clippers in her hand. Barely says a word to me (or my dog) and goes to grab my dogs feet. I was still in the doorway with my dog by my side. I stopped her and said I asked for the special rounded nail cut. She seemed really irritated and asked if my dog could go into the back. I said yes, he's very well behaved when he gets groomed (I started getting him use to that very young). She grabbed the leash and yanked him into the back. She couldn't find the clippers she needed and was just pulling him around with her. Then she just disappeared with him. I tried to peek around and suddenly I saw my dog laying on the ground with his head pinned to the floor. The lady came out, very angry, handed him back to me (he ran and coward near my legs) and she said they didn't do the special nail file thing I wanted and that it took two of them to hold him down! Then proceeded to tell me it was $12. I was so sick to my stomach seeing how my dog was treated. I walked him back to my car. My dog jumped into the back seat and I saw a bunch of blood. I looked at his back paw, and sure enough it was covered in blood. I went back into the place, told the lady sitting there my dog was bleeding. She just yells into the back for that lady again and says "we got a bleeder". She comes out SAYS NOTHING, my dog is trying to get away from her, she grabs his back foot and quickly rubs stuff on his nails (she cut them too short) and told me to keep him out of puddles. I carried him back to my car, gave him treats and kisses. Then cried. I'm never going back. And I'm telling everyone I know who owns a dog, to not go there. Not only was my own interaction with the employees terrible, but the fact they treated my dog so poorly, makes me angry. If your job is interacting with animals, you should at least show how much you love and care about them. Seeing my dog pinned down JUST to cut his nails is infuriating and heart breaking. I've tried so hard to get him comfortable with getting groomed and she almost ruined it. I hope she's not that mean to all the dogs. Please keep your doggies away from this place. Grooming should be an enjoyable experience (as best as it can be). read more

Bark Zone is the worst groomer I've come across in 12 years of 6 week grooming for my dog. I would give it negative stars.

The only place I can take my dog where he doesn't get nervous. He is a silky terrier and has lots of issues so I usually have to go in and repeat what I need done with him. I wish they could just keep it on file somewhere. Especially because they always seem to forget something. But it's nothing serious and they leave him looking spiffy and smelling great! They're also pretty fast--I usually get a call a couple hours later and don't have to wait all day like at some groomers. read more

Seriously let us down. We called and asked to purchase a gift card. The woman on the phone told us we could do it. We were on a tight schedule and needed to pick it up that afternoon, on our way to my fiancé's mother's house (it was a gift for her birthday that night). We asked the woman how late they would be open for us to come by to purchase it, and she said they closed at 5:00, and anytime before then would be fine. We showed up around 3:30. There was no one at the front desk, so we waited. About 10 minutes passed. We made some noise, called out. Finally a girl appeared from in back, and she said she was busy with a dog. We explained that we had called earlier and just wanted to purchase a gift card. She said "nobody told me, and everyone else is gone." Then she began to mumble about how the woman who knows how to operate the computer is gone, and the computer is off, and she can't touch the computer. We asked if she had any way to ring something up, she said no. We told her we were in a bind and asked is she could call someone (presumably the woman we'd spoken with, who can use a computer), she said no. She seemed very shaken by our asking, and just said no one told her someone would be coming by. I'm not sure what exactly the issue was, but we were left totally in the lurch by this, having driven out of our way to come here, and being left with few options. So we had to forgo the gift, which sucks, but it was probably better than sending my fiancé's mother here and risking her having a similar experience. Bark Zone will need to learn to be more professional. read more

I took my golden-doodle Xavier into the Barkzone grooming Salon located off of state street. The groomer I had Myra was extremely friendly and made me feel at home right away. She was kind and gentle and took her time with the groom. The shop is conveniently located in Lake Oswego which makes it easy to do errands while the groom is being done. Took my 6 month old Bernese Mountain Dog for grooming. They did not blow dry her but put her in a drying cage. She cannot stand the heat which is indicative to the breed. To leave her there for the full dry was irresponsible. To top it off, a week after taking her for grooming, she had a check up at the vet. The Dr. looked in her ears and found the cotton balls that BarkZone put in to prevent water from entering. Again VERY irresponsible and careless. I do not suggest taking your dog there but if you do be very cautious. read more
