As a grad trip, I was heading towards Glacier National Park back in June, partly because I've never been, and partly because I wanted to make use of the free Canada 150 parks passes. I came across this place as I looked up places to visit and places to eat after arriving at the hotel, and the Barley Station was one of the first places that came up, partly due to the positive reviews, and partly due to it's proximity to my hotel. I drove over ordered their "Bushwacker Brown Ale" and on the recommendation of my awesome waitress, the Moroccan Lamb Burger... served on naan bread. I have to hand it to them, the Barley Station offers hefty portions. I consider myself as someone with a monstrous appetite, and I found that I still had to struggle to clear my plate. The Morrocan Lamb Burger was a good recommendation, and one that surprised me. The lamb was mildly sweet, and had a very unique fragrance from the seasoning which seems to work in it's favour. The lamb was tender and and quite juicy, and the beer complemented it quite well. One criticism I do have for the lamb burger though, is that as I went through it, it seemed increasingly necessary for me to eat it with a fork and knife as there was a lot of sauce, and lamb, but not nearly enough naan to hold it all. I'd personally have been okay with a lot less lamb, but that opinion probably won't sit in well with the regulars. The Barley Station also offers a selection of Kombucha. I wanted to try the ginger flavoured one, but they ran out that day, so as per the server's recommendation, I went with the pomegranate Kombucha. That too, was great. It was fizzy, fruity, mildly acidic, and they managed to get the sweetness just right. I wanted to have another, but it turns out I had the last batch of the day (or week?), and so settled with the blackcurrant instead. While the Blackcurrant Kombucha was also good, I feel that that one was a little too sweet, and surprisingly, didn't seem as fizzy as the other (maybe it has something to do with how it didn't seem as sour as the pomegranate one). If I swing by Salmon Arm again, I'd definitely come again. The food and service was great, and the drinks were pretty awesome too. read more

Great little pub in Salmon Arm BC. Good microbrew with small selection. Good service. Lively room. Food very good. Our table had a delicious seafood chowder. Caesar salad. Sous vide cooked steak with Cajun prawns peppercorn sauce finishing with a very good local berry cheesecake. Overall very good. Definitely would return if in Salmon Arm. read more

Order meal size Ceasar with chicken, it was quite good but portion was so small it surely seemed like a kitchen mistake, I wouldn't have cared but when I pointed it out to the owner she just made a joke about it and embarrassed me. I left hungry which was disappointing. read more

This may be a family-owned restaurant, but it is certainly not family friendly. Guess family isn't important enough. If you have a child (even a well behaved older one) don't bother stopping. After a long day of driving across BC, go to Mr. Mike's instead. Minors welcomed in the presence of Majors and the food is fantastic! read more

Great little Brew pub with really friendly, helpful staff that make you feel welcome and even went the extra mile to find me the colour of the t-shirt I wanted! Place was rammed by 1230pm and food looked delish even though I only had the sample pack of beer. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Not a lot of options in Salmon Arm. In a larger town this would be a 3 star review. Service was good, beer was good, halibut fish and chips was very good. Beer battered and moist. My son had the lamb burger and loved it. Also liked the crispy onion wings. My wife had the chicken slovaki and was just not impressed. We're from out of town and it was late. We found the Barley Station Brew pub, and were impressed. I tried the in-house brewed Talking Dog beer, and was very impressed. This beer was extremely flavourful and I could not resist getting a second beer. The food was very good. I had a sandwich that had roasted chicken, bacon and guacamole. It was very good - and the whole meal was filling. Overall, I strongly recommend the pub. Good food, good drink, reasonable prices, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. read more

The beer was quite good, although small (not a pint). My wife had the Lemonade special and enjoyed it. The issue was the food and customer service. I ordered the Burrito bowl without Sour Cream, it initially appeared to come this way, but as I got to the bottom, the had used sour cream to "stick" the bowl to the plate. When I challenged them on this, the server tried to justify it, then went and got her manager, who also tried to justify the usage, as well as talk down to me. The manager brought me the bill, which she snarkily said she comped the dish, and hoped they didn't wreck our evening. The waitress never returned to the table. read more

5 stars for the beer, 4 for the food, 3 for the server - she started strong but flaked out. No quality check, brought the bill out prior to checking to see if we wanted another beer. The beer is so good we put up with this and ordered anyway. A note to servers - if the beer is getting to about one quarter of the glass it is a good idea to ask if your customer wants another one. Better service = more beer = happy customers = more sales = bigger tips. It's not rocket science. A note about the food - wife had the angus burger and I had the pulled pork burger. Good beer, good service, good food. Clam chowder shouldn't be advertised as New England Style and had an obvious taste/texture of thickening agent but it was still tasty. Fish tacos were good, fries and burger good too. Nothing outstanding but better than other places we went in Salmon Arm and definitely the best beer in town. read more

I've been to the Barley Station Brew Pub roughly half a dozen times, and every time it impresses me. First, the food is outstanding. I'm a pescetarian so I've only ever had the veggie or fish dishes, but both have been exceptional. The quinoa salad is particularly good. The blend of textures and flavours leaves me pleased as punch. Second, the service is very good. In my experience, the service sector of Salmon Arm is very good. Third, the beer is excellent. As a microbrewery, they offer a wonderful little beer sampler to try out each of their offerings. This is both smart business practice and benefits those of us who aren't so beerducated. Once again, we enjoyed ourselves on our date to Barley Station. Atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. The owners and staff are "service first" friendly and the food is fresh, delicious, and well prepared. My husband loves fish and chips and says Barley Station has the best and he has tried them everywhere. My friend and I had the special and it was amazing! Stopped in here for lunch and was quite impressed with their selection of house brewed beers. Friendly bartenders and great service. Tried the beef dip which was served on a fresh baked baguette from a local bakery. The beef and au jus were delicious. I wished the onions and mushrooms were a little more caramelized though. The addition of a horseradish aoli would have put this sandwich over the top. But it was still a solid offering as it was. I would definitely return to try their other offerings! read more

This place was okay. I had the ribs which were average. My gf had the pacific chicken. Chicken breast stuffed with seafood. She couldn't eat it. The hollandaise sauce was unlike any I've had and very bland. Highlight of our experience was their house made kombucha. This place was super disappointing. This pub was located by our hotel and was very busy, so we (wrongly) assumed it would be a good dining option. It's very nice inside, and has a great patio. However, it was packed when we arrived and had two people in front of us and 5 behind us. People were so put off by the fact that no one helped us find seats (or cleaned tables so we could sit) that two groups ended up leaving. Our server was very sweet, but looked extremely rushed. We received our appetizer 25 minutes after we ordered, and our main 40 minutes after we ordered. The poor couple who ordered just before us waiting an hour. When we got the food it was bland. The shrimp had no falvour and the lime chilli sauce was a thick dark mess. We both rodered the Station burger which had pulled pork and asian slaw. Both were dry and tasteless, especially seeing as pulled pork is supposed to be flavorful. Our fries weren't fully cooked either, and were raw/hard. All in all, this place got a 2 because we felt for our poor server who had sections inside as well as on the outdoor patio which were no where near each other. read more

I was very disappointed with this place. The service was VERY slow and the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu sandwich and my wife ordered the fish and chips. My sandwich was very similar in quality to the Arby's sandwich of the name. The kaiser roll was stale and the lettuce was limp and warm like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a whole. The French fries were cold and did not seem freshly cooked. The one saving grace was the beer. I had the brown ale and my wife had the raspberry wheat. Both were refreshing and served nice and cold. If there's one thing that sets my socks on fire it is a modest but excellently brewed beer like the Bushwacker I had here. But I have to put it out here that I am not down with filler-type beef burgers. Meat only for me! But the poutine is really very very very good. The folks are nice here! We had the rack of lamb...a gutsy call at a brew pub I know ... but OMG! It was perfectly seasoned and cooked (Sous - vide / Mediterranean style). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Great burgers, same with the fish and chips. My wife always has the Barley soup... she loves it. read more

The place was hopping when we walked in but our servicer was up to the challenge. Have only eaten here once so far, but the mango curry dish I chose with the help of the excellent waitress was very good. I'm a big eater so I can't say I was stuffed but really enjoyed the quality meal just the same. Look forward to trying another dish. The barley station is always up to the best standards and the food is amazing. Love the staff and the layout of the restaurant and if there was anything bad to say about the place is it is a little loud but it is a bar atmosphere and you have to expect that. Went here for lunch as we heard great reviews...pretty disappointed. Beer was great but food was not impressive at all. Had a bunch of appetizers and mains and nothing stood out. My main was greasy and really not good, ate three bites and they gave me 50% off that item it was inedible though so not sure why it wasn't completely taken off, wouldn't have written this review if they had. Service was slow and seemed like we were annoying the her just by being there. Was planning on going to the noble pig in Kamloops as we've been there before and definitely worth the drive.... read more
