We just discovered this bar & grill and even though the floor plan of the place isn't the most appealing (the entrance door is way too close to the bar/bar stools), the bartenders are quick, attentive, fun, and know their drinks, and the food is very good!! We love the bison burger, the whiskey melt, and the steak fries. These wide cut fries are some of the best in the area. Also, I tried their cucumber & mint martini on their Tuesday night martini menu and loved it! You can't beat a $5 martini. read more

I found this place on Yelp and am pleasantly surprised. The waitress, Payton was busy, attentive and friendly. She made you comfortable to be there. I had the WBLT and Garlic Fries. A WBLT is Walleye, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato. Loved the atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and patient with an outsider from Tennessee. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, the staff and the customers. On a personal note, the place was nicely decorated. Not gawdy, but more than enough to keep you interest. When I come back through, I will definitely stop again. read more

Had to give one star - app doesn't allow negative. We've driven by this place many times and decided to give it a try. Won't stop there again. Waitress asked how I'd like my burger, I say med rate. Came out beyond well done. Fries were dried out, like they'd been sitting and were reheated in an air fryer. Wife ordered the taco salad. Chips were stale and limp. Lettuce looked like it was from a bag of pre-chopped lettuce you get at the store in a kit, edges were brown and wilted. Chicken was also like from a pre-made bag of chopped grilled chicken, somehow both tough and rubbery. Salsa had no flavor. We'll continue to drive by this place. read more

A delicious meal in a hometown restaurant! This was my first experience at barnboard and I already know it will not be my last. We ordered a small feast to go as they are not enforcing any covid precautions and have rude customers if you do wear a mask. We started off with some delicious apps, potato skins and mac n cheese bites. The potato skins were okay, but the mac n cheese bites were such a fun treat and probably a new family favorite. We ordered 2 ragin cajun burgers and fell deeply in love. Deliciously seasoned beef, jalapeños, pepper Jack, and cooked onions made for a great way to perk us us half way through the day. My loss of star is due to the lack of safety standards, and that they didn't say anything to the customer for harassing me for simply choosing to wearing a mask because my daughter is high risk, even when they were interrupting my attempts to pay. I wish the bartender would have spoken up as I just wanted to support my new hometown restaurants during the pandemic. Otherwise, great food. Just ignore the local loud mouths. read more

We stopped here for lunch on our way to the Mall of America, and I'm glad we did. The food here was delicious. The burger I received was juicy and flavorful. The same can be said for the wrap and wings we ordered as well. The only nitpick I have is that the waitress never came to check on us during the middle of the meal to see if we needed refills (which we did). This seemed strange to me as there were only 2 other parties besides us at the time. Other than that, this is a great place to eat! read more

Cute place, was clean, we came in a group of 9. They were not busy. Waitress took our drink and dinner order and never came back to ask how our meal was or if we needed another drink. Unfriendly waitress. The food servers were trying hard. Bartender was friendly when I asked her to find our waitress because we all were thirsty. Food was mediocre. My daughters hamburger was burnt. Visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We had mimosas bloody marys for drinks. I had the cajun stuffed hashbrown (so did half our party), but others had the meat omelet or pancakes with a side order of egg. My food was very good. The service we had unfortunately wasn't quite up to par. We needed to ask for silverware, ketchup, and salt. Good things: they take party reservations without charge, there's a 10% military discount with proper ID (yay Uncle Sam), and their breakfast is until 12 on weekends! We walked in and it appeared that there was only one server working in a somewhat busy restaurant. We decided to give it a try anyway and sat outside on the patio. We waited at least 10 minutes (husband walked inside to make sure someone remembered we were sitting outside and was ignored). Another family came outside and was followed out by a server, so we thought perhaps we would be acknowledged. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. She took the other tables order and totally ignored us. She came out again to clarify something and ignored us again. Went out to eat late Sunday night for a quick meal and we were not disappointed. Ordered a bleu Buffalo bacon bison and a nacho chicken wrap. Both were amazing! I'm from out of town and just here for work so I was just googling "best burgers near me" and this place was number 1 on the list. And for good reason, THEY'RE GREAT! I was very satisfied! The burger was cooked a perfect medium (as I requested) and the onions we're red onions cooked perfectly. The mushrooms were all portabella caps (fresh, not canned) and also cooked perfectly. We walked in, there was hardly anyone there, one guy at the bar, two people eating in the restaurant. The server told us to find a table. We waited for 15 minutes, no one came by to bring us menus or waters or anything. Finally my boyfriend went up to the bar where the server was hanging out chatting with the guy at the bar, he asked for some menus and she said, "oh, I forgot about you." My boyfriend, (not the waitress) comes back carrying menus and two waters for us. We decide on their "famous chili", because we were on a bit of a time constraint. A different waitress we hadn't seen anywhere before now comes over and takes our orders. A few minutes later she comes back with two lukewarm bowls of "chili" that tasted more like stewed tomatoes and old broken up hamburger. There was also a dinner roll on each that I legit could not break open it was so rock hard. We finished our "chili" and then after another five minutes we decided to go up to the front of the restaurant to pay our bill. Another waitress I hadn't seen before now either, looks at me oddly and says, "Do you need something?" I tell her I want to pay our bill. She says, "well, what did you have?" I told her two bowls of chili. She says, "14.95." In conclusion, I would definitely not recommend the chili or the service, as both left a lot to be desired. In their defense, there was a note on the table explaining they were short staffed due to Covid and that menu prices had to increase. Unfortunately for us, we didn't take that warning more seriously. Random stop when driving through Wisconsin. Glad we did. Lunch was hopping at 11:50 when we arrived, but Jake was on top of it. He's the main reason why I rate it so highly. Everything was good and he was excellent. Great WI craft beer selection. Reasonable prices at $4 a pint. Cheese curds were good, I'd have liked marinara sauce instead of ranch but I can't dock them for that. Got the Jim Beam flat iron (I think called cowboy style?) , it was very good and cooked the medium rare I requested. At $15.99 (I think the sauce was $3 extra), it's a lot for a flat iron & the sauce was pricy, but it was good enough that I wasn't sad about it. Wife got a soup & salad, both were good. Updated 7/9/17 to reflect a MUCH better experience. Everyone has a bad day, and I think our first experience at Barn Board supports that. Something must just have been off for our server. After a negative review of that experience, the owner of Barn Board reached out with an apology and invited us back. There was a long time in between, so there's no way he could have known we were coming. Our second experience was much better, and I'm happy to say that the restaurant definitely deserves a more positive review to reflect it. We did have a problem in that we ordered a pepperoni pizza for our son, and the waiter brought cheese, but as soon as we mentioned it, he immediately headed back to the kitchen to have another one made, and even left the original so my son wouldn't have to sit there hungry. He was polite, and the turnaround on the mistake was fast. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the restaurant. Our second experience was very good, and the food was in line with our expectations. Most importantly, when he noticed something wrong, the owner went out of his way to make it right, which isn't terribly common these days. When it arrived, my wife tried some too (I mean, who doesn't snag some milkshake when the opportunity arises), made a face, and then made me try it. It was HORRIBLE. I told our server that there was a problem and he looked at me like I was stupid and said, "Well, I guess I'll make another." No apology was offered... Nothing. After a long while, he came back with another, and with an explanation. "There is a new girl in the back, and when she was putting in the sugar, she accidentally put in salt." First, why in the world are they putting sugar in a milkshake? But whatever. More importantly, STILL no apology. And not only were we still charged for the milkshake, we were charged a dollar more than is printed on the menu! In addition, the waiter did not bring our orders correctly. Instead of the cottage cheese we ordered with the chicken strips, he brought fries. Instead of an order of onion rings, he changed the sides on one of the entrees to onion rings. Most likely these errors were a result of him not writing any of the order down. These were all things we could live with, so we didn't say anything, but the overall experience was very poor. To be fair, the fault of much of our experience falls on the shoulders of our server, but I still think good management could have prevented it. And the price error most likely wasn't his responsibility. We pass through that area often, but we certain won't go back to the Barn Board. read more

I ordered delivery from Barn Board and Schuggys (owned by the same guy) several times and their delivery people have always worn a mask since the mandate. That made me believe all the employees wear a mask (I know I should assume). I walked in to get a gift card and saw 3 employees standing at the bar facing away from everyone without their masks. No they weren't taking a mask break either, I didn't see their masks anywhere near them. I watched a 4th employee walk out of the kitchen without a mask and not 1 in sight. I love their food, but the fact that they can't follow a simple mandate makes me wonder what else they are not following. I was also shown how they charge WAY more on taxes then any other restaurants in town, so the mask thing made my husband and I not want to eat there (or Schuggys) anymore. This makes us sad, but can't support a business who can't follow a simple mandate. read more

My husband had a burger and he said it was great. This is amazing coming from him because it takes a lot to impress him. I had the pulled pork and it was fantastic. This isn't quite a 3, more of a 3.5. When these guys are on, they are great but a lot of times, they are really inconsistent. Not so much with the food, as I have never had a bad meal, but the service sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. After waiting for a good 10 minutes and no drinks, we decided to move outside to the patio since it was a lovely day. I told our waitress we were moving outside to eat. Once we got out there, we waited ANOTHER 10 minutes to get our drinks!!! So finally she brings out the drinks and takes our food order. 40 minutes later we are wondering if they lost our food order. I was baffled because there were very few people in the place so I have no idea why it took so long! I finally had to walk in and ask the waitress if our food was coming. Shortly after it came. She never once came back to ask us if we needed a drink refill and then I had to go ask for the ticket. Complete fail on service. They have a good kids menu and portions are nice and big. Burgers are good. Fish fry is good. They also have good food specials. You take a gamble with service when you come here. It isn't always consistent. I say about ever 4th time I come here, the service is bad/mediocre. But the food is generally always good. It's a decent choice for Roberts (since there aren't many options) but you might want to take the 10 minute drive to Hudson for more and better choices. read more

Never again! My husband ordered ribs and mashed potatoes. Ribs looked absolutely disgusting and the potatoes were cold. I ordered wings and they were sub par at best. The server never refilled my husband's soda, and barely gave us the time of day. Won't be going back for sure. Very disappointed. Btw, I don't think I have ever written a bad review like this before. The Barnboard has a great atmosphere! I love going there for drinks and catching up with friends and family! On the down side the service isn't very good, you spend a lot of extra time waiting, and half the time your order gets messed up. The staff is very friendly.
