Corn Beef Hash and Eggs, French Toast Breakfast Sandwich
    Tracy L.

WHAT I ORDERED: French Toast Breakfast Sandwich, Corn Beef Hash and Eggs, Lemonade PARKING: Small parking lot with limited spots PATIO: Dog-friendly patio, appreciate the dog menu with the complimentary water and decently priced food items. There's a good amount of outside seating and the tables are spaced out well so you don't have to worry about being too close to another furry friend. Our server was great and although it was hot, the umbrella helped provide shade. THE FOODS/DRINKS: Solid breakfast place! I really enjoyed the french toast breakfast sandwich, definitely add the syrup that comes on the side. The corn beef hash and eggs was good too but it's on the heavier side so fair warning. The lemonade was refreshing, especially sitting outside in the heat.

A nice casual place. The only drawback was the size of the table was almost too small for three people. If a 4th had joined us, the table would have been uncomfortably small.

Back to one of my top 4 restaurants in H-Town! Tonight I was craving a burger and I chose Barnaby's because I knew the food would be good and the service welcoming. Seriously, one of the friendliest restaurants I have ever been to. This location is one of my favorites because the dining room has a nice open feeling, staff is always friendly, and the distance to home is good. Tonight I had the Green Chili Cheese Burger. It hit the spot!!! Juicy burger with a great added flavor from the green chili. And their fries are always my favorite. Don't forget a side of honey mustard to dip your fries in! I saved a little room for dessert. Now their desserts are huge, so my go-to is the Baby Brownie á la Mode. It's tiny, but perfect to take care of a little sweet tooth craving. I'd say it's about 4 bites. And only $3!!!

The definition on dependable and solid. Barnabys is an unsung chain in the Houston area. Every location has the the same reliable menu options and atmosphere. Patios are dog friendly and servers are friendly iniside the neighborly feeling establishment. There's sandwiches, salads, steaks, burgers, and a couple other odds and ends to meet your needs when ordering. It's mostly diner type food thats always prepared very well and not too overly priced. This has been a consistent group of restaurants that I can come to and know what I'm getting into and that is always comforting!

Great atmosphere. Solid food. Wide variety in the menu, so there's something for everyone. Barnaby is one of my go to places when people are in town because no matter if you're picky or not, there's something for you on the menu. In addition, the food is priced well and the portions are huge. Lastly, a personal favorite of mine is that they allow you to make substitutes and give you options for the sides. the staff is always very nice, my favorites. Here are the French dip, the strawberry lemonade, and whatever dessert I pick that day.

Really enjoyed Barnaby's Cafe! Such good comfort food, the service is quick and friendly, and the vibes are very homey--reminds me of the diners in my hometown. We started off with the strawberry lemonade, which was incredible. I could truly drink a whole jug of it. We also got the sweet potato fries, which were delicious, and paired really well with the provided barbecue sauce. For our main courses, we ordered the Green Chile Cheese Burger and the Luna's Meat Lasagna. I was kinda disappointed by the burger--it was pretty bland, and they could have seasoned the meat more. It wasn't bad, though. The lasagna, on the other hand, was amazing. We also took the carrot cake home for dessert, and it was so so good! The cake was moist and flavorful, and not at all overpowered by the icing (an issue I find many carrot cakes suffer from). Overall, really recommend this restaurant.

He also mentioned his family had a store on Canal Street. I had no idea. An exceptional person, a legend in the restaurant industry here in Houston, Texas. It was great to meet you today Johnny. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality and also thank you for serving some of the best food in Houston, Texas! Food: as you can see from all my pictures of the food is simply amazing. I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!

They accommodated a baby and we saw a couple of other families present. I had always heard the Toasted Coconut was vegetarian friendly but there wasn't that many vegetarian options on the menu. The menu in the past had a vegetarian sandwich, but it looks like this has since been removed. I got the onion hash which was a large egg dish with black beans and potatoes. The overall vibe is casual and welcoming, making it a great place to grab a few drinks with friends or coworkers. The indoor and outdoor seating options are nice when Houston isn't blistering hot. Parking can be tough, though, since the lot is shared with a couple of other restaurants. That said, this recent visit was overshadowed by what was easily the most awkward and least customer-focused service experience I've had here. I was dining with a group of friends, and one friend ordered a meal to eat there along with another item to go. There was a little confusion when the order was placed, but we thought everything had been clarified. When the food arrived, both items were served on plates for the table. We politely explained that one of them was supposed to be a to-go order. It turned out the server had entered an additional order and believed we wanted both items for the table. What bothered me wasn't the mistake itself--those happen. It was the response. There was no apology, and instead we were told the misunderstanding was due to how we had communicated the order. We decided to keep all the food and move on, but the interaction felt unnecessarily defensive. I came a little late and was looking at the menu and asked whether they still had the fried eggplant dish that had been on the menu before. The response was simply, "No." No explanation, no follow-up, just an awkward silence. It set the tone for the rest of the interaction. So I decided to let her know I'll continue to look. This response was so uncomfortable that I later decided not to order anything at all. At one point, the server mentioned she had overheard us talking about having a "crazy weekend" and seemed to use that as an explanation for the earlier confusion. Whether there was miscommunication on both sides or not, the overall experience felt unnecessarily tense. I've typically had wonderful experiences here, which is why this visit stood out so much. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are still reasons I'd come back, but please avoid assigning Naya to customers if she's not willing to be a bit more cordial.

The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. For my entrée, I ordered the pesto bucatini. If I'm being honest, the food just didn't do it for me. The calamari was simply fried with no noticeable seasoning or standout dipping sauce. The pesto bucatini was pretty underwhelming too. It was very heavy on the mint with just a hint of pistachio crumbs, and the pesto flavor I was hoping for never really came through. Pesto pasta is usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one honestly felt like a waste of carbs. The positives were definitely the service and the atmosphere.
