    Sticky Toffee Cake $8
    Sophie T.

This was my second time dining here, and given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, my expectations were higher than usual. Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.

Came here for an early dinner, and the atmosphere was really nice! We sat in the upstairs area, which was cozy and had a great ambiance. Our server greeted us quickly, provided amazing service, and gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted without feeling rushed. I ordered the braised pork pasta, and it was pretty good overall. The portion size was nice, but I do wish it had a bit more seasoning to bring out the flavors. My sister ordered the steak frites, but unfortunately her steak was cooked well done instead of the medium well she requested, which made it difficult for her to eat. Overall, it was a decent experience. While there were a few things that could have been better, the service and atmosphere stood out, and I'd be willing to give this place another chance in the future.

We came here for my work baby shower and it was so good!!! Such a fun atmosphere, natural lighting. All their wine is on tap. Service was great, super friendly kind and accommodating. The food was so good. The carrot cake pancakes were delicious. The French fries were perfect and the dipping sauces were not your typical but I loved them. The coffee came with this really yummy brownie type cookie which i thought was so cute. The only thing was the parking is not ideal. We went on a Saturday afternoon so it was packed. The parking garage was free but not a lot of parking when it's busy.

Loved stumbling upon this place -- and will now seek it out when I'm around here! This cute casual but chic wine bar/restaurant is nestled in the shops around rice village (there may be a name for this area) and worked perfectly for a stop in lunch. They have a massive wine list, options to make a wine flight, but also wine-based cocktails. I enjoyed their froze, made with jam jar red wine. It was delicious and served with fruit topping. For lunch, they have an excellent deal called the "Duo" - a house or Caesar salad with a half pizza of your choice. Incredible deal -- the pizza was quite large and I ended up taking half home. I had the house salad - super yummy, a bit tart and fresh - with the fig and prosciutto pizza. Pizza was excellent -- New York style I believe, nice crust. Great service and in a convenient location with the shops.

Long story short - I found a large sparkly red finger nail clipping in my leftover pasta. Absolutely unacceptable. I came for a work dinner yesterday evening and got my tried and true creste di gallo. The pasta was tasted good however the chicken was dry. The portion was big so I took a box to go (of note, my waiter packed my dish to go and didn't have on nail polish). I heated up my pasta later & saw the nail clipping that I've attached here (I thought it was tomato until the end). I'm quite nauseated by this - I have never seen anything like this in a dish before. My waiter provided great service. Parking on the second floor is free for two hours.

Absolutely loved this place! A friend recommended it to me, and I went in with no expectations but it completely exceeded them. The restaurant itself is beautiful, especially during brunch with all the natural lighting coming through the indoor space. Such a lovely atmosphere with plants surrounding us. The food was amazing, and sharing appetizers was the perfect way to try a few different things. They also have a huge wine selection, which I really enjoyed. I tried their pizza paired with wine, and honestly, it was the perfect combination. The service was also excellent, everyone was welcoming, attentive, and made the experience even better without feeling rushed. They even asked if we wanted to help to get our picture taken, that was so sweet of them.

Didn't know of this place until we went here for a group dinner. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to start, and each ordered some wine. Wine pricing is fair, with a good selection, and price points (on the lower end). Half-pours available! Personally, I wish there was more than just one Riesling. The wood-fired cauliflower, salumi & cheese board, and truffled vineyard fries were all excellent choices. The daylight spritz mocktail was good as well. For my main, I ordered a house salad to start and a Double Cabernet Burger. The house salad was amazingly good, one of the best I've had in recent memory. The portion size and price at $9 was incredible. Loved the candied walnuts, sliced strawberries, peppered pecorino, and the citrus-honey vinaigrette. The burger was a little disappointing in comparison. While I love a good double patty, and potato buns, it was honestly just too messy to eat, and the buns could not hold up well against the fairly saucy/smothered patties and toppings. Staff were friendly, and water was provided fairly quickly. Restrooms were nice. Parking was easy, the garage leads right up to the upper floor of the restaurant. First 2 hours free, and even the next hour was pretty cheap! Easily a top happy hour spot in the Rice Village/West U area!

I love the vibes upstairs! The cali chicken chop salad was perfect! Tons of chicken, perfectly dressed. It also had a great crunch to it. Will come back to get it again and again.

Lovely restaurant! I've been to Sixty Vines for happy hour and recently came back to try their brunch. Although a chain restaurant, sixty vines has such a personalized feel and very warming atmosphere, high quality service. We were seated outside under the covered patio which was perfect to beat the Houston heat but still enjoy the busy Rice Village scenery. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and courteous. For my drink I ordered an Aperol spritz which was made perfectly ~ refreshing and crisp. For my meal I ordered the beet and herbed goat cheese salad with shrimp which was delicious. I was craving the earthy, semi sweet beet flavor and this definitely did the trick. The goat cheese was soft and tart which was a great pairing. I also ordered the shrimp and bacon pizza to get some carbs in which was really delicious as well. Their desert options looked so yummy as well so I'd definitely come back to try more of their food options!

We didn't try the wines but the food was wonderful. Flavors were spot on and service was good. We loved the creste di gallo. This place will be placed in rotation!! We had originally went to another restaurant for drinks and appetizers and everything was and went horribly! After cashing out we saw that Sixty vines was down the sidewalk and once entering through the doors everything was amazing!! From the energy, the ambiance, the music, the bartender (wish I remembered her name), THE DRINKS, and the zucchini! Most definitely will be back!! Especially for the frozen espresso martini !!!!

This is a great place for wine lovers looking to unwind with a glass after work. We sat at the bar during happy hour. The HH menu is limited, so this may not be the best spot if you're wanting to have a variety to choose from. They have a big selection of wines and the servers are very knowledgeable, perfect for those that are still looking for their favorite type of wine. In addition to enjoying the house red, we got the burrata and the burger. The burger was great! You could taste the Cabernet in the patty. The burrata was also good, simple and light. If you work in the med center, pic this place as your next meeting spot!

60 vines is a really nice place to visit solo or with your date. The ambience itself is really warm cozy a tad bit cold, but still give relaxation vibes. The service is really good as far as engagement however we had a few hiccups with my food, but I won't name them since the manager rectified everything. I had their pasta their brussels sprouts and I believe it was like a bruschetta toast. I may be way off but scroll through my pictures and you'll see everything that I ate. The wine itself was a nine out of 10 at least the ones that I chose. I will definitely be coming back here for more wine tasting, and I hope to try even more items. I give this place four stars and maybe next time they earn another one

Ask the Community - Sixty Vines

Is it realistic to dine at 6 pm on a Thursday before a 7:30 Main Street Theater show at 7:30?

How loud is it? Hoping to have a casual business meeting lunch

It seems louder on the top level than the lower level to me but definitely a place you could have a meeting.

Do they accept walk in or do we have to make a reservation?

    They accept walk in.

    What's parking like?

There is meter parking towards the front of the restaurant for easy access but you have to pay a few dollars for it. Otherwise, there is validated garage parking that's few short walking minutes away

Is there anything more corny than when a restaurant has one gluten free option and one vegan option and they are the same dish?

Ah I see what you did there, corny, corn, vegan I get it! Try asking your server if any modifications can be made to other dishes in order to make them vegan or gluten free.

Does Sixty Vines have a private room?

Yes. I attended a work lunch meeting in the private room in the back.

Do they serve cocktails or beer ? Or is it only wine?

They have ciders and brews but don't think they serve any cocktails.

Do they serve brunch on Fridays?

    Nope.

Is there Happy hour? Didn't see anything on website and yet it keeps coming up online for it.

I have been several times and have never seen a happy hour

    Is this teenager friendly?

    Yes

Do they have live music? If so, when?

No, not that I have ever seen.

Do they have gluten free options?

There's GF flat bread, pizza crust, pasta and sandwich buns

No one speaks about the cost....there is no $$ code to help with the absence of price on the menu available on line. Where might I see the costs of that very compelling menu?

You can look at the menu photos on Yelp!

We ordered several tapas and one large plate half order. I don't know much about wine, personally, but the drinks we did get were amazing. The restaurant itself was very pretty as well, lots of natural lighting and then low lighting as the sun went down. The music was low and we were able to hear each other well, apart from one group across the room that would get rowdy but I can't blame them for having a good time. Our food was all delicious and I forgot to take pics of some of them because we devoured them so quickly. Not pictured, we ordered the grilled asparagus and focaccia. I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

Not once has that ever happened. We have been there one time when you were out of most of the cheese and some meat and you still was able to make some type of plate to snack on. Thank goodness for the under the volcano across the street they are amazing, delicious, welcoming, and happy to serve you!! Please visit under the volcano and skip this place. It's not worth it and you feel unappreciated as soon as you walk in.

We were able to snag some free street parking and wandered our way into a cute setup with mood lighting and plenty of seating. There's a central bar and plenty of outdoor patio space. We were immediately helped as soon as we found a table which I really appreciated. The menu is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want. We're big red wine fans so we settled on that page. J opted for a cab while I decided on a couple to sample before ultimately choosing a red blend. I appreciate that they're more than happy to give you a taste before committing to a glass. You can choose between 3 or 6oz pours, or a bottle. We also decided to share a cheese board with the Willoughby cheese which was soft and delicious! I appreciated how kind and accommodating the servers were as they frequently checked on us. This is a great spot to enjoy some wine with friends, on date night, or anything really! It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit. Till next time!

We sat at the bar and the server took our order. I got a sweet wine and we split a small board. I got the brie with prosciutto and she got cheddar with salami. They do charge extra for the prosciutto cut. The jam that comes on the board is her favorite and it's delicious. We chatted with each other and with some gentleman that said they were regulars there. It was a lovely evening. I will definitely return so that I can try their s'mores board.

It took over what was literally the WORST Jamba Juice kiosk ever that always made me late to class when I was still in school. This was a much needed improvement, because you can't get turnt up on a smoothie no matter how hard your blessed little heart tries. Even the spelling of the Whole Foods Megacorp's 95th in-store bar will get you a little turnt up, either from sheer whimsy or out of college-educated just plain knowing better how certain things are spelled and how certain things are not spelled unless they are as full of shit as a Christmas turkey. The difference is whether you are on your first or seventh pint moreso than whether you skipped second breakfast and elevenses before showing up here in all of your splendor. Mondays are pizza/pint night for $5 between 6-8pm. Local Brew Fridays are $3 pints between 3-6pm. Write that one down. Also according to the internets, the last Thursday of the month is Zoo Beats Day so between 6-8pm some spare change marches into the coffers of the Houston Zoo's conservation efforts. I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! Until next time, Nobie!

This shop differentiates itself from others in that they sell natural wines - organic and no additives or preservatives. I did notice with these wines that you don't quite get the same buzz as with other wine; on the flip side, you don't wake up feeling groggy the next day. The vibe inside is super cute and intimate. It's a converted house, and you can choose your seating in the various "common areas" of the house or the patio. The lighting is dark and intimate and they even have a disco ball spinning to some good tunes! We met owner Steve who was super welcoming - he and the entire staff at Light Years is super knowledgeable on their wines and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences (and something that doesn't break the bank!). We were recommended a white pinot noir (crazy right?) for our first bottle, which was something unique and fun to try. While they did not have a chilled bottle available, they chilled a bottle off the shelf for us, but this did take about 15 minutes before we were served the wine. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. I appreciate having Light Years as a local neighborhood wine shop and will definitely be back to meet up with friends after a long day over some wine.
