As it was early, breakfast was in order. I had the chef specialty of an egg sandwich w sausage bacon smoked Gouda and something else. It was very very tasty. All items were prepared correctly and it was on a nice brioche type bun. Had the side of hash brown potatoes which were rich and creamy. My 4 yo granddaughter had the kids choc chip pancakes w bacon. I must say they too were nicely done, large pancakes with an abundance of chocolate chips. The child was delighted. She ate every last bit of it. As many people know four-year-olds can be difficult at times and I was amazed. The server came back to us a few times. Overall, it was very good and I would definitely go back. This was the original location of The Toasted Yolk that made me look for it everywhere I go in Texas cities. The ingredients are always fresh and full of quality. Their patented bright green tables and chairs are vibrant and memorable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The portions are more than generous, everything from the Arnold's to the omelette and desserts are great. They serve Coke products here, and have plenty of spirit options and coffee varieties. I'm not usually a breakfast person, but today I was with my family and when in Rome you do as the Romans. Or make a good compromise. So we decided to do brunch and toasted told was the topic. The service was amazing, but to my surprise the food was even better. I got the brisket scramble tacos, my brother got the egg burger, and we also got bacon, pancakes, and fries, junk yard fries to be specific. We can't forget about the mimosa bottle. This place was everything I never knew I needed. Our waitress was the sweetest girl, gave us excellent recommendations and did not disappoint. Every plate on the table left empty and the mimosa was enough to make everyone involved a smily face emoji. We had a great time and we'll be back for much more soon. I've been to several locations and the quality is always consistent, which I really appreciate. The inside is nothing special so don't expect a view. We're usually seated immediately, even on busy mornings, which is a huge plus. That said, the service could definitely use some improvement. My order has been wrong more than once, and while they do fix it, it usually takes a while. The servers are okay, polite, just not super warm or memorable. But honestly? Came for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday around early 10am and it wasn't too busy. However as we were leaving the place had definitely filled up to where it looked like they had a wait. I had their iced vanilla latte, the strawberry orange mimosa, and the rocky mountain omelette. Their portion sizes are huge, especially since the omelette came with a side and a biscuit. Everything overall was tasty but nothing super impressive - just decent chain food tbh. Service was nice and adequately attentive. The space had that clean, casual vibe that photographs really well (clearly I took full advantage). Food-wise, the biscuit was the main character. Flaky, soft, and golden. My omelette, on the other hand, looked better than it tasted. It needed more seasoning, and the mimosa was mostly juice with a little fizz and a whole lot of foam. I have visited this location several times and the food has never disappointed. My last visit was a hot mess! After my husband and I were seated we noticed the waitress was acknowledging everyone but us. After 15 minutes we went to find a manager (Winderfa) and she was absolutely no better. She literally just stood there and didn't acknowledge anything we said. Winderfa immediately went to the server and told her about our complaint and now the waitress comes out talking ready to fight. Talking about unprofessional!!! We decided to sit at the bar and eat but best believe we will NOT return. Winderfa and the rowdy waitress should not be working in this industry. Churros donuts were possibly the best donuts i have had in my entire life, i was absolutely blown away. Soft and moist in the center (rare for a cake count), crispy exterior, tons of cinnamon sugar. 5 stars just because of the execution of these donuts, complete perfection i cannot stop thinking about them. Also the order comes with 4 full-sized donuts which was a pleasant surprise. I'll be coming back just for the churros donuts if for nothing else. The brunchy breakfast items we got were very good, great portions for a very good price. I love a place like this where you're going to leave having actually eaten enough food to fill you up but they don't charge crazy prices either. The soft scramble was solid, nice toast, chicken sausage was eh but overall very decent breakfast. I live within walking distance and have been coming here almost weekly since they opened in 2019. It has been reliably good until recently! Yesterday, the Greek salad was, well, not a Greek salad. It was the same base they use for the strawberry field salad - mixed greens with shredded chicken deli meat, topped with a few black olives and sliced banana peppers, tossed in an undistinguished vinaigrette. No feta, no cucumber, no bell pepper - just a few sliced red onions and chopped tomatoes. While my half BLT was decent (but light on the mayo), my husband's cheeseburger had no cheese, and was overcooked. The chicken soup is over salty and has entirely too much rosemary. Recent omelets have been dry. However, the lattes are consistently good. I'll continue to give them a chance but have been truly disappointed the past few visits. The coffee tasted watered down and no amount of creamer or sugar was going to save it. It also came in a styrofoam cup because they were out of mugs. As for the food, I got a Rueben Arnold which is on the seasonal menu. This dish came with two thick-cut marbled rye bread with pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and poached eggs, topped with Horshack Sauce. Stopped by The Toasted Yolk Café while in town for the Beyoncé Cowboy Carter Tour with my best friend and we're so glad we did! I ordered an omelette and a cocktail (which was delicious), and my best friend had the shrimp and grits with a side of pancakes. She really enjoyed her meal, and I did too everything was fresh and flavorful. The café itself has a warm, welcoming vibe, and our server was super friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The only downside was being seated next to a very loud large group, which made it hard to fully relax and chat. That said, I totally understand that's out of the restaurant's control and wouldn't hold it against them. We were looking for a spot for Saturday breakfast with some friends and decided on this Toasted Yolk because of it's central location. Located off Washington, it is easy to find with an attached garage. This garage does charge, but The Toasted Yolk will validate your parking up to 3 hours. I've been to other locations before on a weekend and was anticipating a line here. We did have to wait, but it wasn't too bad. This location used to be Kitchen 713. The completely changed it to a bright and inviting environment. The dining area is large and can accommodate alot of people. Customer service here was great. What I love about this place is they have boozy breakfast drinks. The Toasted Yolk Coffee is one of my favorite go to drinks here. It is coffee with Bailey's, Kahlua, and whipped cream. The coffee cancels out the alcohol so it's like it never happened....or atleast that's what I tell myself. Their regular coffee and juices are just as good. I play it by ear usually. They always have different seasonal specials. On this particular trip, I ordered the Maple Bacon Donuts for the table. This was good but super sweet. The bacon's saltiness helped cut through the sweetness. I have ordered the churro style donuts in the past and those are really good. Perfect with some coffee. For my entree, I went with the Double Decker Omelet. The omelets here are substantial in size. They have 4 eggs with sausage, bacon, ham, jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. They cooked slightly over, but it was still delicious. I substituted my biscuit for an English muffin. I was expecting a full muffin, but it was just half. The plate also came with hashbrowns that were cooked just right and seasoned nicely as well. Overall, I've been to multiple Toasted Yolks and have never left unsatisfied. Went here for a birthday brunch with a group of 6. Pretty busy however they do have seating inside and outside while you wait. We waited about 10-15 before we were seated. The hostess was extremely nice. Our waiter Noah was friendly, funny, and helpful. Great menu options with a little bit of everything for everybody. Everyone enjoyed their selections. When I put the restaurant name into the rental car GPS, we ended up driving to the wrong location (of course). Once we got to the correct location, we asked one of the waitresses if they could reheat the food and just let us eat there. She said, 'No'. Actually, what she said was, 'Just have a seat and we'll remake your order fresh.' I pointed out that the reason our food was cold was totally our fault. Found this place on Yelp while in Houston. My husband had the Cowboy scramble a biscuit and gray meal with an amazing hash brown casserole. Homemade biscuits were soft in the inside and lightly crispy on the outside. The gravy will make you want more with the rich sauce and sausage with coffee. It was pretty delicious for sure. My son had the Big Ben omelette with ham, onions, green peppers and cheddar cheese and fries and orange juice. He loved it so much he couldn't stop eating it. I had the brisket scramble with smoked brisket, sautéed onions, jalapeños and cheddar cheese with a biscuit. This dish is super delicious, and recommend all is the above. So 20 minutes went by, then 30, then 40, & at 45 minutes a 6 top that came in over 30 minutes after us was seated first. When we went inside to ask what in the world was happening the hostesses were pointing the finger at each other. They accidentally gave our table away & when I was explaining to the group the snotty high school hostess said "No! They just accidentally got seated before you all." Um, that's giving the table away. She tried to sit our party outside at SEPARATE tables. After another 15 minutes we were seated. We had to basically tell the hostesses that we would need to speak to a manager. The manager while friendly did not offer any type of compensation. We were well into an hour of waiting for our reservation in the Houston hear that was supposed to be a 15 - 20 minute wait. Incredible. Once we were seated we waited another 5 minutes to be approached & we immediately placed our order. Another 10 minutes for just our drinks in which we had to again ask the manager to check on. The food was absolutely incredible & our waitress was a sweetheart but the experience was absolutely horrendous. What's the point of making reservations if the hostesses don't understand how to manage them? We wanted to get out of there ASAP! The visit started off okay, I was greeted and sat quickly which is always a plus. Even on a Sunday morning. The food comes out cold, I tried to be a good sport about it, but looking at the people next to us who came after us and got food before us with steam still coming out of their food had me steaming as well. The first manager comes, speaks to the other tables surrounding us, then stops at her table, we express our concerns and she said, "let me see what I can do," and never came back. The waitress at least came back and got the other manager for us. He comes and he is the reason for the stars because he was a star so patient and concerned to help make our experience better. The food came back amazing! It was fresh and hot and so tasty. I'm so glad I did speak up, because if I didn't , I most likely would've never come back. JC was truly a gem I'm very grateful.
