I'm not usually a breakfast person, but today I was with my family and when in Rome you do as the Romans. Or make a good compromise. So we decided to do brunch and toasted told was the topic. The service was amazing, but to my surprise the food was even better. I got the brisket scramble tacos, my brother got the egg burger, and we also got bacon, pancakes, and fries, junk yard fries to be specific. We can't forget about the mimosa bottle. This place was everything I never knew I needed. Our waitress was the sweetest girl, gave us excellent recommendations and did not disappoint. Every plate on the table left empty and the mimosa was enough to make everyone involved a smily face emoji. We had a great time and we'll be back for much more soon. The brunch menu is stacked with solid options, the portions are generous, and the coffee and mixed drinks hit just right. I've been to several locations and the quality is always consistent, which I really appreciate. The inside is nothing special so don't expect a view. We're usually seated immediately, even on busy mornings, which is a huge plus. That said, the service could definitely use some improvement. This was the original location of The Toasted Yolk that made me look for it everywhere I go in Texas cities. The ingredients are always fresh and full of quality. Their patented bright green tables and chairs are vibrant and memorable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The portions are more than generous, everything from the Arnold's to the omelette and desserts are great. They serve Coke products here, and have plenty of spirit options and coffee varieties. Went there Sunday with daughter and family. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly. Table was clean and tidy. Server came right away and gave us a little time to decide. As it was early, breakfast was in order. I had the chef specialty of an egg sandwich w sausage bacon smoked Gouda and something else. It was very very tasty. All items were prepared correctly and it was on a nice brioche type bun. Had the side of hash brown potatoes which were rich and creamy. My 4 yo granddaughter had the kids choc chip pancakes w bacon. I have visited this location several times and the food has never disappointed. My last visit was a hot mess! After my husband and I were seated we noticed the waitress was acknowledging everyone but us. After 15 minutes we went to find a manager (Winderfa) and she was absolutely no better. She literally just stood there and didn't acknowledge anything we said. Winderfa immediately went to the server and told her about our complaint and now the waitress comes out talking ready to fight. Churros donuts were possibly the best donuts i have had in my entire life, i was absolutely blown away. Soft and moist in the center (rare for a cake count), crispy exterior, tons of cinnamon sugar. 5 stars just because of the execution of these donuts, complete perfection i cannot stop thinking about them. I live within walking distance and have been coming here almost weekly since they opened in 2019. It has been reliably good until recently! Yesterday, the Greek salad was, well, not a Greek salad. It was the same base they use for the strawberry field salad - mixed greens with shredded chicken deli meat, topped with a few black olives and sliced banana peppers, tossed in an undistinguished vinaigrette. No feta, no cucumber, no bell pepper - just a few sliced red onions and chopped tomatoes. While my half BLT was decent (but light on the mayo), my husband's cheeseburger had no cheese, and was overcooked. The chicken soup is over salty and has entirely too much rosemary. Recent omelets have been dry. However, the lattes are consistently good. I'll continue to give them a chance but have been truly disappointed the past few visits. Located off Washington, it is easy to find with an attached garage. This garage does charge, but The Toasted Yolk will validate your parking up to 3 hours. The completely changed it to a bright and inviting environment. The dining area is large and can accommodate alot of people. Customer service here was great. What I love about this place is they have boozy breakfast drinks. The Toasted Yolk Coffee is one of my favorite go to drinks here. It is coffee with Bailey's, Kahlua, and whipped cream. The coffee cancels out the alcohol so it's like it never happened....or atleast that's what I tell myself. Their regular coffee and juices are just as good. I play it by ear usually. They always have different seasonal specials. On this particular trip, I ordered the Maple Bacon Donuts for the table. This was good but super sweet. The bacon's saltiness helped cut through the sweetness. I have ordered the churro style donuts in the past and those are really good. Perfect with some coffee. For my entree, I went with the Double Decker Omelet. The omelets here are substantial in size. They have 4 eggs with sausage, bacon, ham, jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. They cooked slightly over, but it was still delicious. I substituted my biscuit for an English muffin. I was expecting a full muffin, but it was just half. When I put the restaurant name into the rental car GPS, we ended up driving to the wrong location (of course). Once we got to the correct location, we asked one of the waitresses if they could reheat the food and just let us eat there. She said, 'No'. Actually, what she said was, 'Just have a seat and we'll remake your order fresh.' I pointed out that the reason our food was cold was totally our fault. So 20 minutes went by, then 30, then 40, & at 45 minutes a 6 top that came in over 30 minutes after us was seated first. When we went inside to ask what in the world was happening the hostesses were pointing the finger at each other. They accidentally gave our table away & when I was explaining to the group the snotty high school hostess said "No! They just accidentally got seated before you all." Um, that's giving the table away. She tried to sit our party outside at SEPARATE tables. After another 15 minutes we were seated. We had to basically tell the hostesses that we would need to speak to a manager. The manager while friendly did not offer any type of compensation. We were well into an hour of waiting for our reservation in the Houston hear that was supposed to be a 15 - 20 minute wait. Incredible. Once we were seated we waited another 5 minutes to be approached & we immediately placed our order. Another 10 minutes for just our drinks in which we had to again ask the manager to check on. The food was absolutely incredible & our waitress was a sweetheart but the experience was absolutely horrendous. What's the point of making reservations if the hostesses don't understand how to manage them? We wanted to get out of there ASAP! Oh, & the cherry on top was that they do validate parking but it only covers two hours so because of THEIR mistake our entire party had to pay parking. read more
