Every time we're in Houston, we have to eat at Toasted Yolk Café it's become a ritual. It's one of those spots where the food and drinks never miss. The brunch menu is stacked with solid options, the portions are generous, and the coffee and mixed drinks hit just right. I've been to several locations and the quality is always consistent, which I really appreciate. The inside is nothing special so don't expect a view. We're usually seated immediately, even on busy mornings, which is a huge plus. That said, the service could definitely use some improvement. My order has been wrong more than once, and while they do fix it, it usually takes a while. The servers are okay, polite, just not super warm or memorable. But honestly? The food is so good I keep coming back anyway. If you're in Houston and want a dependable, tasty brunch, Toasted Yolk is still a great choice.

Pancakes were delicious! I had them with strawberries. The turkey sausage was tastey. Music nice. Beautuful mugs, but coffee could use upgrade.

Toasted Yolk offered quick service, bright natural light, and convenient street parking, which is always a win in Houston. The space had that clean, casual vibe that photographs really well (clearly I took full advantage). Food-wise, the biscuit was the main character. Flaky, soft, and golden. My omelette, on the other hand, looked better than it tasted. It needed more seasoning, and the mimosa was mostly juice with a little fizz and a whole lot of foam. Our server, Shaneese, was kind and attentive throughout. I appreciated the community love too, with signs about their book club for little ones and midweek deals. That said, based on taste alone, I wouldn't put this high on my brunch rotation. But if you're looking for fast service and/or a cozy corner to catch up with friends, this is the spot.

Toasted yolk is our old faithful for brunch. Friendly service, great food at reasonable prices, and they have great pineapple mimosas. We've eaten burgers, Reuben, shrimp salad, shrimp and grits, chicken friend sandwich, and so many other options and they are all good. The sleeper is the cheesy hash browns! I also like the whimsical jokes on the hallway to the bathroom.

Churros donuts were possibly the best donuts i have had in my entire life, i was absolutely blown away. Soft and moist in the center (rare for a cake count), crispy exterior, tons of cinnamon sugar. 5 stars just because of the execution of these donuts, complete perfection i cannot stop thinking about them. Also the order comes with 4 full-sized donuts which was a pleasant surprise. I'll be coming back just for the churros donuts if for nothing else. The brunchy breakfast items we got were very good, great portions for a very good price. I love a place like this where you're going to leave having actually eaten enough food to fill you up but they don't charge crazy prices either. The soft scramble was solid, nice toast, chicken sausage was eh but overall very decent breakfast. The menu with all day breakfast and lunch was very great, so many yummy options for both meals, we were spoiled for choice. I was very impressed with this place, a great chill diner vibes. Great experience! And I implore you to get the churros donuts

American dining done right!!! I'm not the one to do American breakfast unless I'm really craving it today I decided to try this spot. And it was best decision of my day. I tried the iced latte with hazelnut I was sat near the bar area so the server promptly came to take my order she approached being kind and professional. I was debating between different options the sandwiches and omelets looked amazing and also the pancakes were whispering my name too bad I didn't go with a plus one so we could share different meals; I ordered the cowboy scramble and that dish was HUGE! 2 biscuits with gravy and scrambled eggs with bacon and ham with a side of fruit and hashbrown casserole. Everything tasted delicious and was fast in my table. Would have to come back to try the rest of the menu. ********WHATEVER YOU ORDER MAKE SURE YOU GET A SIDE OF HASHBROWN CASSEROLE IT WAS SO CHEESY LIKE A 90s ROM-COM (But actually good) *******

Great service!! The server was super attentive, kind and quick. I got the hot cocoa which came in a warm ceramic mug with whipped cream. It could've been chocolatier/creamier. The coffee tasted watered down and no amount of creamer or sugar was going to save it. It also came in a styrofoam cup because they were out of mugs. As for the food, I got a Rueben Arnold which is on the seasonal menu. This dish came with two thick-cut marbled rye bread with pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and poached eggs, topped with Horshack Sauce. It is big enough to share between two people and I got it with a side of hash brown casserole. It was an interesting combination of flavors and I really liked it. Very filling!

The food in Texas is so good. Huge portions which are totally shareable. This place is located at The Heights, in Houston, Texas whee we visited family from LA. Found this place on Yelp while in Houston. My husband had the Cowboy scramble a biscuit and gray meal with an amazing hash brown casserole. Homemade biscuits were soft in the inside and lightly crispy on the outside. The gravy will make you want more with the rich sauce and sausage with coffee. It was pretty delicious for sure. My son had the Big Ben omelette with ham, onions, green peppers and cheddar cheese and fries and orange juice. He loved it so much he couldn't stop eating it. I had the brisket scramble with smoked brisket, sautéed onions, jalapeños and cheddar cheese with a biscuit. This dish is super delicious, and recommend all is the above. However, this is the most flavorful breakfast i've had in a long time. The staff was very friendly and recommended were helpful being from out of town. It's a much of you visit Houston Texas.

This spot knows how to show out for breakfast. I ordered the Southern Fried Arnold and whew crispy, savory, and served like they knew I needed some comfort on a plate. Portions? Generous. Flavor? A-mazing! Now let's talk about service, because that's half the meal. Mayco, my server, was a whole vibe. Welcoming, knowledgeable, and you could tell he really loves what he does. He didn't just take my order he curated an experience. Suggested a few of his faves and some house hits. I trusted the energy, went with one of his picks, and it did not disappoint. The whole place feels like brunch with good company even if you roll in solo. The staff, the food, the atmosphere it all gave what it needed to give. If you're in the Heights and craving brunch that's got soul, flavor, and people who actually care this is it. And if you're lucky enough to get Mayco as your server, listen when he speaks. The man knows good food. SD Mac approved. I'll be back. Maybe with friends, maybe solo. But definitely hungry.

In the past they would bring out a bread basket, as a free appetizer like how some mexican restaurants bring out chips and salsa, however, they dont seem to do that here anymore. Service at the table was mediocre, our waitress took our drink order and on the way over, the waitress was spilling the drinks over the floor on the way to our table. After our waitress took our order, my gf did not get the mayo on the side as she had asked, and after we received our food, our waitress never came around to check on us, didn't refill our drinks or anything. The place was very loud, louder than visiting waffle house. I was trying to have a conversation with my gf sitting just across the table from one another, and we were having to literally yell at one another just to hear what each other were saying. My gf did state that the sandwich she ordered was a big sandwich, and was more than she could finish. Once we were ready to go, our waitress still hadn't been around to check on us. So I had to flag down someone else, to get us some to go boxes, and our check. Low and behold, when I was ready to checkout, the waitress appears out of nowhere, after all this time, I'm guessing because she thought she was going to get a good tip. I'm sorry, waitstaff only get a great tip from me, once and if they perform a great job duty, and this was not the case in this matter. Maybe, better luck next time, maybe Papas needs to hire better waitstaff worth hiring and keeping.

We shared a bowl of the potato soup where we had no expectations and I thought it tasted pretty decent. But the real test was the entrees. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
