I had to order some books online. I had them delivered here to join up with some other books that I had shipped to my home. Books arrived on time however, the pick up process wasn't as straightforward as I expected. I ended up going to the center customer service desk & waiting for about 5 to almost 10 minutes. At that point, I gave up and just went straight to the line. Thankfully, when I got in line after about a 5 to 10 minute wait with only one person at the register, I was able to get access. One could argue after reading my review that I need to go to the bookstore more often... and you would lose that argument as I frequent Bookstores and read a lot more than you'd expect!! :-) Customer service was really good when I got a hold of someone however, I just didn't like the process of knowing where to go to pick up the books. It would be good to have some signage when you first walk in, letting you know what to do. read more

This location of Barnes & Noble's booksellers is fine, I think the best part about it is truly the location. With several restaurants nearby, including an AJ's grocery store and a small park behind it. If you didn't know, you cannot use your Starbucks app at a Barnes & Noble, they advertise Starbucks coffee because it's what they use but technically it's its own Barnes & Noble Café. Also at the café/around this store, there is nowhere comfortable to sit. It is all tables and chairs made of wood or metal, so if you're like me and simply enjoy the atmosphere of a Barnes & Noble and want to hang out, this is not the Barnes & Noble for that. read more

Hey there my YELPies!!! B&N Dana Park had Awesome customer service, I actually requested my book club book online and was notified it was ready. Picked it up from the cashier that had an amazing smile and was quick to tell me about some events at the bookstore. I just so happened to also pick up a vision board kit... first time I had ever seen a kit, you know... my vision boards have all been old school with magazines and poster board. Anywho.. cute kit with all the fixin's. I would say if you want a neat display of your board... get one of these kits. There were three themes to choose from. I have a points card with B&N so the value is always top notch and the coupon for coffee at the shop inside is AMAZING! You know when you just want to sit and sip and read and smell the mix of coffee and books . I said all that to say.. go tickle your bookworm fancy at B&N Dana Park.You won't regret it! Whoever was the lady barista tonight, negative stars for her. The drink I ordered was blah. I ordered a pumpkin cheesecake that cost me about $6. I was looking forward to eating it. I love food and cheesecake. She asked if I wanted it for here or to go, I stated that I wanted it for here. Despite that, she stuck it in a flat container and shoved it in a bag on its side, and she forgot probably about half the cheesecake and bottom layer of crust. I just hope she didn't forget it on the floor or something. Seriously looked like it fell on the floor and she just scraped off the parts that didn't touch the floor and put it in the container. I finished the $6 piece of yumness before allowing myself to consider what this piece of decadence had been through before it's ultimately cheap "plating". Maybe that's why she didn't place it in a "for here" plate. Anyway, 1 star because I could actually find a peaceful table to sit on and read + audible my book that I brought into the bookstore, and another star because the place was clean. I came in today to look for a Funko Pop Wonder Woman. Unfortunately it was not there even though the website said it was in stock. Technology is weird & not always accurate. However, the team member who helped me, Blake Honeycutt, was extremely nice & patient. He helped a few senior citizens & I listened & watched him. Sure, it's his job to be nice to customers but we've all been there, they aren't always nice or patient. He was both & it made me smile. It was honestly very refreshing to see someone who genuinely wanted to help the customers. He spent time with me trying to find the item but we were unsuccessful. He offered to order it for me, which I appreciated. He was personable & funny. I would definitely ask him for assistance next time I'm there. read more

I just love going to a book store. On this visit I went with my son who needed a novel required for one of his college classes. Not sure where it was and looking a little lost; one of the employees comes up and offered to help. He seriously did not even have to look it up! He took us straight to the book! Yep that's all it took to impress me : ) Don't even get me started on the sale/clearance section. They also sell individual cards for birthdays, thank you, Valentine's etc.. And there are quick little gifts you can pick up if you don't want to run around town looking for something . read more

When I was at Barnes and Nobles on April 8th there was a staff member that was wearing a green sweater/shirt that was accusing my cousin and I of damaging a book when we were just checking it out to see if we liked it for our brothers birthday and she told us that we would buy the next book if we "damaged" one again and she was not polite about it which also made us very uncomfortable and made us feel pressured to leave because we felt we weren't welcome there. read more

Love a real deal bookstore. So many have closed, been squeezed out by technology. Barnes & Noble was headed that way. But they have not only survived book downloads, Covid & a dwindling attention span of the tech gadget enthusiasts of the past 25 years, they seem to be THRIVING. And their recent love and support of local authors has impacted and stimulated a LOT of local interest. The Dana Park B&N is big, has a busy Starbucks inside and LOTS is seats & tables to relax, browse over books & just calmly pour over books as you decide which treasures to purchase. The staff is attentive, book & author knowledgeable, and just a great immersive atmosphere for the book loving customer. They also have great clearance prices on date sensitive inventory. The store manager Rachele is fun, personable and sets the tone for all the amazing staff. read more

i have been a regular at this location for a few months now, coming about 2 or 3 times a month. The people who work here are so so so incredible kind and helpful. They always welcome me in and make me feel so at home. As well as that almost every time i need help finding a book they have it. it's such a wide selection of all different types of books and they are always getting new stuff. in all honesty you can find better prices at other bookstores, which is a downside. However the sense of community here is better then any other bookstore i've been a regular at. if your in the area and looking for a place to hangout or a bookstore to start coming too, this would definitely be place to check out! read more

A week later I went to my account to check something and it is no longer active which is weird because I pay for it and did not ask anyone to cancel it. I guess this is the manager petty way to getting even with me since I talked to Hr. Walked I to the middle of the store and there is a desk. I walked by and there was three employees. One female and two males. The female was wear a blue blouse. She was telling the two men about a customer she had. I was in disbelief by her story. This woman had spoken so poorly about the customer. What she was saying about her customer, once upon a time, she would have been fired. This is how Barns and Noble run their store? I am never shopping there again. I tried to read the young lady's name tag but she had it covered. I went up to the desk and she tucked the name tag in her shirt. Pure evil. Disrespectful... all three of them. I'd rather shop at a smaller book store. These big box stores are garbage. If I could have given them zero stars I would have. This isn't the first time at this store. First time coming into this location an hour and a half from my house but I had to run some errands around here so I decided to stop by this Barnes and Noble's and do a little work on my laptop. I get to the café where I always go, seems very clean and I was getting ready to get a coffee and a water but first I wanted to put my bags down as there was plenty of tables free which surprised me because the location I go to near my home is always packed on a Friday morning. I start looking around and all the outlets in the walls by the tables that you are supposed to be able to have a seat at are completely blocked, they have been covered up boarded up. There's not one single outlet in the entire café sitting area. I have never encountered this in my life so even though it is in the middle of a very nice shopping center. I shop at several of these places right next-door to AJ's there's a bunch of women boutique stores and I like all of them but the Barnes and Noble there is no way for me to plug in my laptop and work. There were maybe two people in the café with a couple of laptops and actually they were tablets because there was no way to plug it in for laptops which means I will no longer be able to carry my nice laptop if I ever come back here which I'm sure I won't. I would have to bring my tablet with me. Anyway, this was very disappointing and what's the point of having a café where you can sit down and work on a couple of things on your computer or your laptop and have some coffee and always have a treat but you can't so this is not the place for me. read more

I miss the days of Waldenbooks and Bookstar. When I go to find the book I'm looking for, it's usually not there and if by some miracle, I find it but I find it's been so picked over, that it comes with scratches, dings or bends in the pages. You can't go to Fry's or Walmart and find a wide selection of cryptograms. They don't carry them anymore. So I try here and lately, they are down to only three or four to choose from, all dinged up. I wish they carried Kappa brand crosswords too. Not much in the way of music CDs to choose from anymore and I guess that's the way technology is going. A little sad. On the plus side, I love their selection of gifts and things near the checkout. And their selection of novelty games near the help desk. I recommend this store for birthday and Christmas gifts in that regard. read more

Then I went over to the Starbucks and the service was undeniably perfect!!!! The girl behind the counter "Giovanna" was so personable, kind, and authentic! Great location in the East Valley. I love bookstores like this because I am a throwback myself as a person who has yet to read a digital book. This store is packed full of great reading options. Plenty of discounted and clearance priced items for thrifty shoppers - like me. Came in for a replacement book for my mom's birthday gift - which was a book she had already pre-ordered online. Store computer let me know they had two copies and where they were located. Boom. Quickly had the book for her and was able to browse for a bit before checking out. Friendly staff members asked if I needed anything and the cashier was very funny - my name is misspelled in their system and we had a few laughs about it. They were swamped with the holiday rush, but he said if I came back again we could change me from Brin to Brian. read more

Busy Christmas season and I just had to get my 15 year old son this book! They're all sold out on Amazon but I thought it would be worth a stop by Barnes & Noble to just check. I was helped almost immediately by a very pleasant Ashley who walked me directly where she saw a copy. Turns out it was the last one in the store and had black scrape marks all over it. Not that my kid would really care but Santa is going to put this in his stocking!!! Trust me, he needs this advice. She looked in the computer to see if there was another copy and this was the last one! Must be a lot of di*ks out there! She suggested that she rummage around their service station for an alcohol pad and maybe that would help. I said "Naw I will just try at home." She responded with a sincere "Really?" Like she did not want me leaving disappointed. Then around the corner comes Joanna who seems interested in the issue and pulls an alcohol swab right out of her pocket! Ashley worked on it for about a minute then ran to get a tissue to dry it and it looks as good as new! I have never had such quick and friendly service from a couple of young ladies who knew exactly what their customers needed and were there at the ready. You can tell they aren't seasonal help because they knew that store through and through. Yay thanks ladies!!! read more

I absolutely love going to the book store and buying a new fresh books to sit down, enjoy, relax and add to my book shelf. This location is the closest to me and and I've generally have had no problems going to this location in the past. But recently the employees at this location have made me very uncomfortable. I've been getting weird stares from the employees. And received some condescending attitudes from the cashiers recently. Please consider training your employees to be a bit nicer. read more

I'm reviewing both the bookstore and the Starbucks that is located in the store. The bookstore is huge, great selection on books, and the people there are very helpful. They have great periodical selections and a good place to just relax and read a good article - even though you should really buy it rather than reading it there. Now for the Starbucks in the store. Note: I'm not really a big Starbucks reviewer, but this one is an exception. I was there tonight, reading some periodicals on the comfy chair that's laid out throughout the store. I kept hearing the guy behind the counter - Daniel (I asked for his name while ordering a cup of java). Anyway, I was amazed at how great he was interacting with every customer walking up to the counter. He was very friendly, charming, and a great sales guy promoting their Venti size drinks for 25¢ more... great tactic! I fell for it. :) After I ordered my coffee and cookie, I sat there observing his people skills and he was just GREAT! The way he spoke to everyone seemed like he knew who they were and by hearing him, I could just tell he was good at talking to people. I went into the Starbucks inside of the book store for a drink while I waited for my wife. The young man that waited in my was very nice. His barista skills to make my drink was horrible. I had to remind him of items that should go into my drink 2 times. This is totally unacceptable. The drink did not have the regular flavor I am accustomed to at other Starbucks. For the first time in my life I was actually left speechless at how poor the customer service was at a business. For those who don't know, this Barnes and Noble is in a shopping center with several other shops, including an AJ's grocery store. My brother and I got some coffee and scones from AJ's while our mom was shopping at some of the other shops in the center. We got a text saying to meet her at Barnes and Noble while she was looking for a book. So we were sitting at one of the tables near the entrance, drinking coffee and eating scones quietly while she shopped. There was another gentleman at the table behind us with a grocery bag and a large iced tea from AJ's. All of a sudden, a woman walked up to the guy behind us and said: "Excuse me sir, and you two guys can listen to this as well (referring to my brother and me): We sell drinks and snacks at our cafe. Please don't come in here with your outside food and beverages. This is our business. Thank you." This was all said in a sarcastic, condescending, overly polite tone. The guy behind us started chuckling as his wife approached the table. She had just purchased a few items. I told the guy, "I guess your business isn't good enough. Should have spent an extra $2 on an iced tea here!" We all had a good laugh. We met up with our mom, who couldn't find what she was looking for, and went home to order the book on Amazon. read more

Bought a Nook HD+ today (3/4/13)! Thanks to my friend/sista who wanted to treat me to an early birthday gift! This is my first tablet purchase. And my experience was AWESOME! The Nook rep came over after I took my time browsing the area for a while. I inundated her with all kinds of tech-y questions as well as price comparisons vs. value of other tablet brands. The gal knew her stuff! Oh gosh... What was her name?... Where's the receipt... I'll be "write" back... ... Thirteen days later ... Oh this is just ridiculous. It shouldn't take this long to finish a review. But I couldn't find my receipt! Man, I wish I could remember her name. She was a real nice and helpful lady. Go see her when you are ready to by a Nook... whatever her name is... Oh and the experience got better! The checkout was the smoothest and quickest I ever remember experiencing at B&N! Not many people shop here any longer as everything is pretty much digital now. I don't know about you, but I still love the feel (and smell) of a good book. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, the store was moderately busy. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, but found myself leaving with 5 books. The store is huge. It is well organized with signs above each section. There is a Starbucks inside, so when you walk in there are all the yummy treats are right there. For someone on a diet, it's hard to walk by and say no. There is a seating area so if you want to sit for a treat or to read, or work there is plenty of room. Like other reviews I found the Customer Service to be seriously lacking. Nobody came up to me to ask if I needed help finding things and the particular cashier I had was unfriendly. read more
