It was nice walking into a book store again! I'll admit I use Amazon, Costco, the library and audible. We happen to come for a Lego event. Apparently they have events. It was kinda a hot mess with rules/instructions from employees but it gave us time to walk around. We found some really good sales for Christmas gifts. They have some gorgeous book covers of classics, lots of gifts items for readers, crafters and half the store it seems like is now a toy store. Who knew?! Not too much seating just in the newsstand and the Starbucks. read more

It's been a while since I've walked into a Barnes & Noble. This one was very organized, and there were lots of people to help you find books. They had a wide variety of items, including tons of stationery. I really enjoyed walking around to see all the books and things they had for sale. They were relatively busy, but the lines moved quickly since they had 3 cashiers working. read more

Standard and clean Barnes and noble with lots of books/stationary, but my review is mostly for the Starbucks cafe inside. The baristas said they just took out all the outlets :( I will give it a few stars though because I like the calm ambience, the two young ladies working were nice, and they had a much more expansive cafe menu than the typical Starbucks. I didn't get to try anything but they had some type of vegan "chicken" tender and lots of fancy looking cupcakes/cakes. If they had outlets I would've stayed longer to try something but I think people staying too long is what they're trying to avoid. read more

I sometimes reminisce on the good ol' days of brick-and-mortar bookstores before the e-commerce boom. I checked out this store incidentally while looking for a nearby Starbucks, and it's a pretty decent place. Parking is spacious with a big lot in front. The store is well-lit, of decent size, and carries a good selection of books, magazines, movies for all ages. And a nice perk, as aforementioned, is the Starbucks within the store (which is not listed on Yelp; correct me if I'm mistaken), with free AT&T wifi and a decent amount of seats. I got the caramel brûlée latte ($5 grande) hot, which was really good. Overall, I'd recommend this place for book and/or Starbucks lovers. P.S. Kevin is my go-to alias at restaurants and coffee shops, because my real name is highly prone to mispronunciations (some of which are pretty hilarious though). read more

I still miss Borders, I think it's more expensive here. That being said, they are always very nice, and it's a pleasant place. We sit perusing for hours, usually with a coffee, and look at books and magazines. They do have a wide selection, except gardening magazines, very few. What's up with that? Bathrooms can get a tad gross, pee before you come. They are helpful, but not pushy. The Starbucks usually offers a holiday type special drink, and has Cream Puffs, and Cannoli that are pretty good, though not as good as in Delaware, or was that Baltimore? It's been harder to find bookstores to actually touch, browse, buy and take home books. Sure, there are internet stores to purchase from but that just can't compare to enjoying the real deal. Barnes and Noble gives me that pleasure and more. Books,books,books! Magazines of all kinds, children's books and toys, greeting cards, accessories and they've been stocking up with Holiday gifts. I found some great knitted hats and scarves, blankets, warm comfy socks and lots of Harry Potter items. Oh yeah, I got my HP fix. ‍‍ They have their electronic book, the Nook. I do like the one that lights up but I still will always prefer the smell of paper and ink as well as the feel of a book. They have a membership card so you can enjoy discounts and boy do I use it. Don't forget there's a coffee shop inside. This Sunday there was quite a few people inside drinking beverages, eating snacks and enjoying conversation. Yes. I will be back. read more

I generally like Barnes & Noble. Not all the stores are great, but this one is pretty good. Good selection of magazines in the ever dwindling world of such. Location is good and it seems to be a popular location. Most of the employees are cool. They recently revamped the music/video section and turned it into toys and games. The now very limited music/video dept. is tucked back with the magazines and has a very sad selection. read more

I spied this Barnes and Noble on the way home one day, and decided it would be worth a try as I hadn't been to one in several years. It was OK. I'm not sure if it's this location specifically, but it has changed a lot over the years, and now seems to be trying to be all things for all people, as it has morphed into this Frankenstein type of store that sells books, toys, movies, and music. If that wasn't enough, it also has a cafe. Still, the emphasis is on books, and thankfully, about 2/3 of the store seems to be dedicated to them. It helps that the building is quite massive as to allow them to coexist with other forms of media. I ended up leaving with a couple of new books I spied on the bargain shelf as well as a Funko figure for my collection. \ I'll probably pop in every now and then. read more

I have been a patron of this bookstore for years - mostly because of its wonderful café area. Overall, the store is clean, quiet and usually has very nice for sale items in stock. The staff is always very helpful. But the coffee is very basic compared to many of Tucson's awesome, locally-owned establishments. And I very rarely purchase books, magazines or cards here (preferring Antigones or online sites) but do enjoy reading and writing in the café. Be forewarned: The bookstore has been very careful not to install electrical outlets in the café in an attempt to prevent people from camping out for hours on end. read more

All in all, I like the feel of the Barnes and Noble stores over the Borders book stores. Barnes and Noble feel more spacious inside, they have a nicer cafe with a good selection of treats and sandwiches to choose from. However, Borders seems to have a wider selection of books. In general, if I'm just after a book and then leaving, I'll head to Borders, but if I want to hang out and enjoy the experience, I much prefer Barnes and Noble. read more

The good ol' book store is becoming less and less with the online boom. Personally I prefer to browse for my books in person so I can read small exerpts and truly mull over the feelings I get during a read and decide if a books truly for me. I don't often let go of the books I purchase so each selection is very thought out. I love Barnes & Noble's selection. I get lost in this store for hours! There are reading areas available through out the store along with a Starbucks to grab coffee. The employees are extremely knowledgable and ready to assist. If I'm unable to find a particular book, I can usually order it or the staff will tell me where I can chase it down. Store is clean, well organized and easy to navigate. read more

I love getting lost in this place, i guess my inner bookworm always comes out here. Although sometimes books can be a bit pricey, their bargain books sections always have good selections. If you're a member then you can save certain discounts on their books too. I've seen a lot of people hanging in this establishment doing their studies and taking advantage of the free wifi. It's also convenient that you can browse through all the books here and take your time to catch up with your reading. One thing though, the starbucks located inside does not take your starbucks card so it doesn't give you your rewards. read more

We are regulars at this location. The staff have always been helpful. We often come to buy a magazine or work in their cafe. My one qualm with this location is that the cafe is too small for the amount of business they get. It is often so crowded that we cannot find a space to sit. I would love it if they expanded their cafe area. The book selection is good for crafts, languages, fine arts, and fiction. Local authors often come to give talks as well. read more

My boyfriend and I came here this morning to get a couple drinks as today was going to be a long day (we each worked full shifts and had to finish moving out of our old apartment immediately after) and I usually love going to the cafe inside Barnes and noble for my drink. The barista today (I didn't catch his name) was pretty rude when I asked for our drinks, he flat out said "we're not affiliated with Starbucks in any way. We don't have the same flavors they do." And when I changed my order he said okay and walked away from the register to make it without giving me a receipt or anything, and then told me to stand at the opposite end of the counter. I get that it's not actually a Starbucks, but how am I supposed to know what they carry and don't carry? They don't have much of a menu for non-coffee items and don't display their flavor options. There was no need for him to give me that attitude. I also announced "let me add some money on my card real quick" and he waited until I was DONE doing that to tell me that he can't scan my card on my phone (even though there's a card reader right next to the register???) so I ended up spending another $10 because I couldn't refund the $10 I just added to my card. Absolutely terrible service. The drinks were good, but he didn't give us any "have a nice day" or anything at all. Just silence. Sorry for the freaking inconvenience dude, my bad. Jeez read more

This place has gone terribly downhill since I was a boy as it's become more like a public library than a respected private bookstore. I walk into the cafe area with my feet practically sticking to the floor and the smell of unwashed drug addicts and the homeless fill the air. I was browsing the childrens books with my kids and a staff member rudely said "What can I help you find?" In a tone that made it seem like I was bothering here. Yesterday I took my family over to Barnes and noble only to have a really disappointing discovery. First off, I have gone to this store for years and used to enjoy this location. Now I don't think much of it anymore. We went to the Customer Service booth for an employee to search for a DVD and Book we couldn't find. The lady who was busy on the phone pointed to another woman who took note that we should be helped. Therefore, the gal waddled over and smiled standing in front of us. We asked politely if she could look up our title to see if we could order it from the store. Her response? "Oh, sorry! no help." You go over there." She pointed to the DVD center. At first I wondered if she spoke good English. So I tried approaching my question a second time but only to be given the same response, "No help sorry." Bull. I have ordered from that station before, since everyone who works there has access to the same info. When we arrived at the other station another coworker there confirmed our suspicions. Therefore, I don't think my family will be returning since it's obvious either the employee refused to help or didn't want to help when they are being paid to do the job they are hired for. Spent $15 only to discover too late that they've covered their electrical outlets to get rid of the community and friendliness that used to exist in the cafe. I didn't realize bookstores were in a position to be turning away customers, but apparently this bookstore does not want to be a place where people gather. We've had membership for a year and never bought anything. It's only a 10% discount so in our minds, it wasn't worth it. We decided to go for Black Friday and it was the bomb.com. We actually got our money's worth with a free game since they sent us a 25% discount on top of the 50% off they were already offering plus the 10% off with our membership. Then they sent us a free drink for the Starbucks inside the store and a $2 off coupon for a future drink. Finally, after a year we are reaping the benefits of our membership and I'm excited to buy more things this upcoming year. read more

Bookstores are becoming a thing of the past, sadly. Glad Barnes and Noble is still around, though I confess to being a big fan of the speed and convenience of Amazon. My bf prefers bookstores and we went here to look around. Spacious with some local charities like a golden retriever rescue were in front and inside. Appreciate that. Barnes and Noble seems to cater to your fiction, YA, games and Legos crowd which is fine-if I need something specific, I will go online or to the Iliad Bookstore in North Hollywood when I'm in town. I truly adore reading, and adore Barnes & Noble. My favorite moment is walking into the store and smelling coffee and books, they have a little cafe to the left of the entrance, in which I had a piece of cheesecake awhile ago that was very large and very rich. Now on to the books, I love their large selection most fun of all is the large variety of arts and crafts projects up front. I have an eleven month old child who loves books and I love reading Dr. Seuss to her, surprisingly those books can be hard to find but they have a wonderful selection of Dr. Seuss books from early classics to brand new "lost" stories. They have so many children's books and stuffed characters to accompany them. They have a big magazine section with an eclectic mix of information. The books can be a bit pricey but it's a cozy, comfortable atmosphere with a colorful array of adventures to lose yourself in. read more

I work at Borders. Sure we're competitors, but that's just the CEOs. As sales associates, we'll contact each other if we're not able to find something in our store. They are easy to talk to and are friendly... Over the phone. Now, I do in fact love Barnes and Noble, however, I find the staff to be a bit rude when you go into the store. I asked where the true crime section was once, not expecting it to be in between the entrance to the bathrooms and after music books, and the associate 'helping me' was irritated. I mean, shit, it was a legit question. I get asked the same questions everyday but don't get irritated unless the person is just utterly stupid or they make me read the back of movies for them. But, hell, we all hate our jobs. I just say shape up the attitude a little more... Good stuff, though... read more
