I think this was my first visit to this location. I wanted to stop by a physical location because I heard about a $5.00 cafe book deal. This location does not have a cafe, but they still honor the sale. I think the book is normally $18.00 but it drops to $5.00 if you get a cafe item, or in this case a chocolate. The staff is helpful and accommodating. I grabbed a true crime book and my annual tote. I'm a member of their rewards program so I get a free tote each year and a discount on my purchases. read more

Although this Barnes and Nobles did not have the book i wanted, everyone was courteous.

Much smaller than any other Barnes and Nobel location I have visited, in any number of states. Interior is clean, light, and bright. There is more of a modern feel than their old classic library style of decor. There are a few places to sit. Children's section is a mix of books, toys, games, and gifts. There are items that are for ages birth to adolescence. Beginning reader books have such thin binding that there are many more titles in the section than may appear at first glance. Barnes and Nobel is trying to adapt to a world where paper books just aren't as popular. While still primarily books, this location has a plethora of board games. Seriously, whether looking for a take on a classic or something completely new, this B&N location has you covered. There is also a wall of puzzles. There are many small items and journals that would work well for coworkers and teacher type gifts. read more

It's so nice to have a bookstore in the neighborhood. They are becoming rare. But at B & N I can find almost any book I want, and if I can't find it, the employees are most helpful. The prices are usually full retail, but I love turning the pages as I read so it's worth it. read more

Stopped into Barnes &Noble yesterday so my daughters could turn in this summer reading logs to earn a free book. This Barnes &Noble is smaller than other ones I have been in and it is lacking a cafe or honestly any type of seating for patrons to relax in, but maybe that was intentional to have customers get what they need and move on. The prices are typical bookstore prices (back over prices) so even thinking to compare it to online sellers isn't really practical as online will normally always be cheaper, but you lose the magic and appeal of picking out the book and buying it right then. The summer reading program they offer is a great incentive for keeping kids reading over the summer. I can definitely see us coming back to this store in the future. read more

There's something for everyone and I wish there were some more spots to sit and relax other than the cafe. I often go into this particular store just to browse, however tonight I went in to purchase a book I had been wanting to read. Found it quickly, no pressure atmosphere when wanting to browse and the checkout was very fast. The young lady behind the counter was courteous and very helpful with my rewards. Killin' some time this morning and I stopped by Barnes & Noble to pick up the latest issue of PHOENIX magazine. I'm trying to remember the last time I've been in a bookstore and sadly, I'm not sure when the last time that was... In a day and age of Amazons and eBays, I think it's important for Barnes & Noble (and other local bookstores) to survive. When you want a place to hang out, escape the daily grind, grab a cup of coffee and read a good book - it is wonderful that these places still exist. It's located in the heart of Peoria essentially off 75th Ave. & Bell Rd. There's a lot of other businesses in this strip mall so there's plenty of ample parking. The store entrance is clean and I wasn't attached by sales people the moment I walked in the store. I was in the store killin' some time and was there for approx. 30 minutes. I was asked twice if I needed help finding anything which is obviously a double-edged sword. On one hand, I just want to browse and take my time without someone asking me every 5 minutes if I need help. On the other hand, if I truly DID need some assistance, it's nice to know there's no shortage of employees to assist. I did find what I was looking for and got something to bring home with me. Here's what I don't like about Barnes & Noble: Upon check out, I was asked several questions. You can't simply bring your purchase to the register, pay and leave. Can I have your e-mail address? Are you a member of our club? Do you want to be? You'll save thousands of dollars off your mortgage interest if you'll just pay us extra money to be a part of our club and blah blah blah blah blah. Let me pay for my book and leave your establishment. To be fair, it isn't just Barnes & Noble, although, it does appear to be more prevalent with them. It's an intense game of 20 Questions and all I'm trying to do is support your business. I really wish they would do away with this. If you want to strike up a conversation - "Hey, how's it going? Thanks for coming in!" I think that's great, but begging me to sign up for your club just gets old. It's their job. I get it. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location to friends, family and fellow Yelp'ers. The experience of a good book store is something you don't find on Amazon and eBay. This is my favorite place to study! I come here if I need peace and quite and it's great because there is a Starbucks located inside this B&N. That's everything I could need for a good study/reading session. There are many seatings at the Starbucks cafe or there are much comfier couches that B&N offer throughout the store. I've never encountered a problem during my visit here except one time when I tried to return an item and management denied me because the tag from the item was off, even though I had the tag and the item present for exchange. Not sure if the management is the same since that incident but I still enjoy coming here for studying. read more

The store is one of the more striking inside specially the Starbucks that is predominately located in the middle of the store which is very unusual for a B&N. I love to read books and I'm glad that Barnes and Nobles is here to be my one stop shop for books. The store is huge and filled with books. Everything is organized by genre. There are other things they sell too, like toys, board games and bookmarks. They have a stand for their Nook products, eReaders, right as you walk into the store. The Starbucks cafe is right in the middle of everything. It's nice to come in, buy a book and coffee then just sit and read. The staff does pretty good. They will help you get books that they don't have at the store but it's hard for them to compete with the online retailers. Employees are super knowledgeable about books and they can direct you to anything you need in the store. This location is in a big shopping center at Arrowhead. Tons of parking but just be prepared because it's a very busy area. If you love books then come check out Barnes and Noble! read more

I went to the B & N with a friend who lives in the area and was very delighted by the huge selection and friendliness of the staff. They have the standard Starbucks island floating in the middle so if caffeine is needed, all is well. I frequent the spirituality sections as a Christian who reads widely in Buddhism and other faiths; I must report that their selection is wide. We need all the bookstores we can get these days so get out and support your local one. read more

I will always prefer a bookstore to an EBook. I saddens me to see the loss of bookstores everywhere. However, I'm glad to see a few bookstores still standing, and Barnes and Nobel is one of my favorites. Barnes and Noble has everything I enjoy about bookstores, great selections, friendly and helpful staff, Starbucks with comfortable couches & chairs. There is just something I find peaceful and relaxing about being able to read a book sitting on a chair in the middle of a quiet aisle drinking a caramel macchiato . I was not offered help or asked any questions besides "are you ready?" Did not enjoy being in this bookstore at all. And that is how you get people to come back. I'm sure I won't be missed- and that is fine. I know reviews only do so much and are more just a vent session when a bad experience is had. I doubt I will be returning to this location. I went in a week or two before Christmas looking for a book for my boyfriend. Luckily they had two BUT they couldn't find either of them. I looked the whole store for an hour. Then ask for an update to see if they had found a copy, and I get told that they did. BUT it was on hold for a online order. Who does that? read more

Store is a bit tired looking, but these days so are most of the locations. Servers are pleasant and accommodating in the cafe and workers on the bookstore floor initiate conversation and ask if they can help, which is nice in a day and age where that isn't so common. A few years ago this store would of gotten 5 stars. But not now. I have been going to this store as long as it has been open. I really like a good book store. I have bought several cameras in the past few years. The book that comes with the camera tells you all the settings but not the best for the pictures you are taking. I always go to Barns and Noble to get a book on that camera written by someone that has used it. They will help you set the camera the way you want it. With the last camera I went in to find no books on this camera and the shelf had very few books on other cameras either. Very sad. So off to the section on travel. Looking for a guide in the Philippines. None on shelf. This store used to be packed full of shelfs and books. Now there are sections with no selfs or books. Yes I will go back, hope they have what I want. I don't like mail order but sometimes you are forced to order on line. It won't be from Barnes & Noble. They have a store front. I went to this store today was treated very poorly! My cashier Renee rolled her eyes at me and my wife! She was super rude to us. There was a misplaced tag on a Monopoly game that my nephew wanted and she did not even offer to do a price check! This store does care for their customers! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't B&N in business to make money? You'd think that ringing up sales would be the priority here. It would be nice if the employees would stop wandering around the store (like they are stocking books on the shelves) and help ring up the line of customers. I have better things to do with my time than wait in line all day...even if I look-thru the copies of PEOPLE and STAR while waiting, the line doesn't move fast enough. I always see just ONE cashier all the time, it's the same fellow....the little, old man. There are usually more employees stationed at the Starbucks counter than at the main register. Maybe because people just park themselves in the sofa seats all day like it's a library and they're not used to ringing up book sales? I dunno. I do prefer Border's, which is down the street...but, ultimately when it comes down to it, I prefer to shop online...with Amazon, which is cheaper and offers FREE SHIPPING, and since they have a HUB here too, the books arrive within a couple of days. read more

Welcoming, clean, and a wonderful place to snuggle with my little guy and read books while we pass time. The staff is friendly and kind. The Starbucks guy was funny and helpful. Overall a nice visit. The one thing I wish that businesses (and this BN is guilty of it) WOULD NOT do is put the changing table in the handicap stall. There was a woman in the handicap stall for...no joke...45 minutes. I had to take my boy out to the car to change him as I sure won't change him on a pad on a public restroom dirty yucky floor. I wouldn't have had to do that on a 113 degree day though if the darn changing table was outside the handicap stall. And the reason I know it was 45 minutes? We went in to the bathroom right at our arrival and had to use it again 45 minutes later. Same lady in the stall. And yes, she was ok. Or so she said. So, if you have kids, keep this in mind when using the rest room, otherwise enjoy a very nice experience at this BN location. read more

I have spent HUNDREDS of dollars at this exact location and I'm officially taking my business elsewhere. I'm 7+ months pregnant and they only have 3 (dirty) comfortable chairs to sit in here and they're always taken up. Today for 20 mins two of the chairs just had stuff sitting next to them with nobody sitting in them, so I sat in one and had a dirty, rude man come up to me and very rudely tell me I need to leave because it's he sat his stuff next to that chair. If store employees are management are going to let customers reserve these chairs and treat their high paying customers this way, especially pregnant ones, then I will never spend another dollar here. DEAR MANAGEMENT, WHY ARE YOU LETTING PEOPLE RESERVE THE ONLY 3 COMFORTABLE CHAIRS YOU HAVE??? I'm pretty sure from the looks of all their baggage they're not even locals and aren't spending any money here. The store is usually clean and the people who work here are nice, my issues pertain to corporate... Staff at the counter asking if I'm using a B&N member card, then asking if I want to buy one, then asking if I want to buy a gift card, then asking if I want to buy some little item on the counter display is totally excessive... I know it isn't the staff's fault, B&N- stop already. Then there's the prices. The last three times I've bought books from here I've returned them because I found them, new, on Amazon for 30-50% cheaper... Get with the times... Came in to find a book about police officers to read to a 2-3 year old class for their first responder and community worker month. They had no books about police officers. The best they could do was order. I just ordered from amazon. I didn't want to spend my money there. My 11 yr old son ordered a drink from Starbucks Cafe today and asked for extra caramel... (Which he does EVERY TIME) he had to wait about 15 minutes for the drink because the girl kept skipping making his drink and made others that came after him. I'm assuming because of his age he wasn't as important to her. I finally had to go stand next to him so she'd make his drink. Once she handed us the drink I asked her what's on the bottom and she proceeded to tell me caramel. Are you kidding me who fills the cup with caramel last time I checked and every time we've ordered it before they put it on the side. I even asked her why is it all on the bottom and she said "it all falls to the bottom." I've never had all my caramel fall to the bottom of the cup like that maybe it all fell to the bottom because you let the cup stand for 15 minutes while making everyone else's drink. She didn't even offer to remake it even after my son tried it and said it tasted horrible... Her response was well you asked for extra caramel. I've never experienced such horrible customer service from a Starbucks before and I hope the only reason was bc it was a Barnes and Noble Cafe. If I could give it zero stars I would but that isn't even an option. read more

I am so upset about buying a book from the online site seven days ago, paying well for delivery, and just now finding it will take an additional, two more weeks!!! to arrive that I am not sure I can really be fair. But I will try. The staff was friendly and willing to help me find stuff. When I needed help the cashier couldn't provide, he called for assistance without rolling his eyes or doing anything rude. The thing that struck me the most was the display inside the front door. A book by noted Christian author Max Lucado was one down and three over from a tarot card manual. The store is like that -- whatever you believe, they'll have books supporting it. Not only do they not take sides, they go looking for sides. They also have plenty of other things like vinyl records and record players, Frank Lloyd Wright socks and note cards (this may be local because of the Frank Lloyd Wright house in nearby Scottsdale. If you are out of this area, you might not see FLW merchandise by you), games, Harry Potter hats, toys for kids, and dish drainers. I kid you not. Special dish drainers for drying baby bottles. I applaud their great brands, and I hope I happen in when they have their best sale/s of the year. read more

I always visit this Barnes and Noble during the weekend to look for new books! They have different genre available, each is separated into different sections so its easy to locate if you want to search just for 'Mystery' or 'Fantasy'. The store is very clean and organized, very open so I don't feel cramped when walking around the shelves. The staff are very helpful whenever I need help locating a book and if it is not available in the store they help me with buying it online. Not only do they have just books but also games and toys such as Funko Pops (which I collect). Bonus, inside the store is also a café that serves coffee and snacks, I always enjoy sitting down at a table after buying a new book with some iced coffee! read more

I've frequented this store for many years and have always had good luck getting help from the employees. Generally if I can't find a book, all I need to do is ask at customer service and they'll either point me in the right direction or help me to place an order for the book. The store has a good selection of product besides books as well including comics, games, collectibles, etc. I've never noticed the cleanliness issues that some of the other Yelpers have mentioned about this store. I took my daughter the other day to buy a book for school. We didn't know if they would have it but no one was there at the Customer Service desk. So we started looking. Finally a lady asked my daughter if she needed help. She said, yes she is looking for a book called The Bell Jar by Silvia Plath. I was on the other side so she didn't see me. In a rude tone she said (Haven't you ever been to a library before you have to look by last name) then started to pronounce the authors name like my daughter (who is 16) didn't speak English. These people need to read a book on how to treat Customers because this place is obviously slacking in that department. Horrible Customer Service! read more

eewh! yuck and wtf!? This Barnes & Noble Book Store sucks for sitting back, relaxing and trying to read. I know it is not a library, and I don't expect it to be. But, come on - you can at least have some sense of trying to keep the noise level down and have some cozy seating. And... Yikes! The people here are gross. They had some couch-chairs to lounge in and they were - in all of their grossness. And they were reading magazines of all things. WTF buy it and go home and let your kids do kart wheels there. EEWH! Then, those of us who actually purchased books and were trying to peacefully read them were in the cafe' - sitting on their dirty wooden benches - where I guess the servers there think that part of theirs jobs in serving coffee is to do a drum solo every time they empty the used coffee grinds into the trash can - which was about every 5 minutes. Yeesh! Luckily, I had my iPod. It was blasting and I still could hear them banging away. It was not a very cleanly area either. I was going to ask if they had wifi but I just high-tailed it out of there instead. This place is small too and their book selection is limited. I have been looking for a place to go to read, work and drink some coffee in my area (Arrowhead) and this one is definitely crossed off of my list. Come here to try and find a book but don't come expecting to kick back and enjoy your novel or what have you. If you like people watching though, this may be your place. There are all kinds here.
