    Barnes & Noble

This is the Barnes & Noble that opened up at the Village of Rochester Hills, which I appreciate for its central location. What makes me really sad though is the fact that because this one opened, they closed the bigger and better Barnes & Noble on Rochester Road (across from the Hampton Village Centre). I knew this was going to happen because why would they have two B&N locations within the same city and just a few miles from one another? It really sucks and I'll always be salty about that though because if I'm going into a bookstore, I want it to be massive and have a ton of stuff to explore through, not to mention the old B&N on Rochester had a used section as well and it was the most special and glorious thing! I still miss it! This new B&N is one of those "modern concept" bookstores, where it's going the way of those brick and mortar Amazon bookstores. Using the algorithm of what is selling to stock their shelves. It's smaller, has a much more limited selection given that there are still so many sections, but literally one to two rows of books per section at the very most. Nowadays, I will come here to very intentionally pick up a specific book and I would never come here just to "browse," which has always been the beauty of a bookstore. If you're looking for that, this B&N is not the one for you! But if you're here to pick up a new (and relatively popular aka NYT bestseller) book, this will do the trick. I appreciate it for existing and being those few miles closer to me so that I have a place to go to on release days for books I'm hotly anticipating, but I'll always resent it for the impact it had to the other B&N. May she rest in peace!

I like visiting the old traditional book store and fortunately we still have a Barnes and Noble near by. It is a remarkable company that has been around since 1886 and has changed a lot in the years but still has a great selection of paper books and magazines. The store is always clean and staffed with friendly professional employees who are happy to help. My mission today was to check out coin magazines because it has always been a interest to me and i know i can find every important book and magazine on any topic at Barnes and Noble. They have a excellent coffee shop along with free wifi while you eat and drink. The deli has sandwiches, quiche, cookies and cakes if you want a quick bite to eat.

They had them ready and waiting for me the following afternoon. Store is clean and well organized. And the employee at the front desk was very friendly - seemed very nice when checking out the couple in front of me and when some people walked into the store after me. I'll definitely go back. And the online ordering/pickup system was so easy. Plus there are multiple small stores to stop in that shopping center - TJ maxx, hallmark, better health, an ACE hardware - so then I can pop in multiple spots!

Books. Books. Books…read more I'm slowly getting my momentum back when it comes to reading, and it was time I put a dent into my wishlist. I came here the other day specifically for Pete Souza's new book, which is hysterical and amusing after only three pages. I would've saved around 10 bucks had I ordered online, but I couldn't wait 3-5 days. The employees don't seem too high strung, and seem very eager to help you out, which is great because it can be annoying when it's obviously that you need help, yet staff just walks by you. When I initially entered the store the first thing to catch my eye was a mug. I end up picking it up, only to add to the 40+ mugs I already have and don't really need. In addition to mugs they're tons of gadgets, cards, keychains, ect... This store almost feels like a an outlet Barnes and Nobles meets Borders. Plan on return to do some Christmas shopping for friends/family who also loves books.

If that doesn't deter you then coming here, as a book lover, researcher, or anyone involved in intellectual or literate pursuits, is one of the best decisions you could possibly make. This is a real bookshop. It's a relic from what you would have had easy access to in the 20th century and prior and that (sadly for our species) barely exists any longer. You're more likely to walk out with a first edition of some esoteric and forgotten knowledge than whatever you planned on finding when you walked in. You could spend hours just glancing through one row of shelves and still not even catch half of it. The books here are high quality, ranging from contemporary titles to 19th century (and probably beyond) originals. There's a bit of everything, from history and archaeology, to religion and spirituality, to music and cars, to novels and poetry, to travel and hobbies, to social matters and Jewish interests. If you like books, knowledge, or anything that could be found in a written text, you'll find it here. Apparently people dislike the owner. I have no idea why. He's brief, witty, and competent. Are people so accustomed to the fake smiles and creepy stalking you'd get at a Barnes & Noble that they've actually convinced themselves that this is real life? Or even desirable in any way? You won't find a retail worker pretending to like you in hopes of keeping a job or getting a tip here. Just a real man with a real mission and amenity. The space is clean, well-organized, and somehow manages to feel calm even when it's busy. The staff really stands out here. Every time I've needed help, someone was genuinely friendly and actually knowledgeable (not just pointing vaguely in the direction of a shelf). Whether you're looking for a specific title or just browsing for something new, they're happy to help without hovering. The selection is excellent--books, journals, gifts, and that dangerous section where you go in for one thing and leave with five. It's also a great place to just exist for a while: grab a coffee, flip through a book, and unplug from the world. In a time when so many bookstores are disappearing, this Barnes & Noble feels like a reminder of why they matter. Reliable, welcoming, and always worth the visit. Barnes & Noble offers great value, especially for the quality and variety you get. Whether you're buying books, magazines, journals, or gifts, it always feels like your money is well spent. The prices are fair, and between deals, memberships, and discounts, it's easy to walk out with more than you planned in the best way. Beyond the value, the store itself is clean, organized, and easy to browse. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, making it a great place to take your time and really enjoy the experience. The staff is helpful and friendly, adding to the overall positive vibe. Barnes & Noble continues to be a reliable go-to and a place that delivers quality and value every time.

I just love their variety of topics, and I always find something I "just" had to buy! Another big plus for me is that all the staff knows exactly where whatever topic I'm looking for is located. It helps on a budget for even the new arrivals of all my favorite horror authors, King, McCammon, Patterson, Saul, etc.

I notified them and they said it's my fault because I didn't review it. I said this was not my issue this is a typo on typo end. I begged and pleaded that they kindly fix it and send me a new book or refund me. They went ahead and sent me another invoice for me to pay for their mistake. I reviewed everything thoroughly before approving the book the 2nd time and now have to deal with their typo because they won't fix this issue. I would not do business with this company. The concept is really cute and can be a very lovable gift but they are not very compassionate when it comes to helping their customers. They are also not very worried about creating the perfect book fr you-if so they would also proof-read the pages and notify you with any issues before publishing it.
