I love this Barnes and Noble location. The place is HUGE!!! The staff is very friendly, including the Starbucks workers. I came to B&N to study and I wanted some water, the Starbucks worker gave me free water and he was very nice. The tables at b&n are very clean. I do wish there were more tables though. One thing I'll say also is that I wish there were more outlets. At the table that I was sitting at no outlets were nearby. Spread out on one level, this is probably smallest Barnes & Noble I've been to. You'll be able to find mostly new releases here. There's an pretty spacious children's area, which was being utilized by a school group while I was there on a Saturday. Sound travels in this store, so having lots of children there was pretty loud. However, I do have to note that this Barnes & Noble has beautiful interior decor. I added a star for that. It's bright and airy with large windows, stylist chairs and tables in the cafe, and cool lighting. There's a decent number of seats in that area for studying, but I think around the rest of the store, seating is lacking. There are a few sofa chairs in one section of books and that's it. On a weekend, you'll likely be hard pressed to find a chair to lounge in if you're not by yourself. read more

When you first walk into this Barnes & Noble what immediately you notice is how well lit it is. Seriously that alone and the spacious nature of it already made it feel very homey. I loved the selections here, and the ease of navigating the place. The cafés in adjust right location so you don't feel pressured to drink coffee unless you actually want to. What I also like about it is the crowd. Everyone here seems like they're actively shopping for a book, not just using it as a place to sit around, which is something that I've encountered at other Barnes & Nobles. The staff should also be commended on how helpful they were. Everyone over here seems to take their job seriously, and go above and beyond in helping you find whatever it is you're trying to find, or answering whatever questions you have. read more

STEP INTO the Staten Island Mall's hive of scum and villainy. RUB greasy elbows with people bringing their takeout from the food court. FIGHT for seats with private tutors monopolizing chairs and tables. SIT on the floor to read as you watch high school students bring in giant sheets of foam board and work on their projects on cafe tables. Sh at the useless security guards who amble about without enforcing and rules. SAVE your cantina money as you won't be able to sit and enjoy anything you buy from the cafe. LAUGH at the short line of people buying books. PONDER why the store designers have enabled laptop users to linger for hours with convenient power outlets. WONDER if the head office is noticing the drop in sales as the wrong clientele now occupy a bookstore. WEEP at the shell of what Barnes & Noble has become by moving to the mall. The new Barnes and Noble is smaller in terms of square footage compared to the old, free standing store down the street. However, it's designed in a very impressive way, more akin to an Apple store than a book shop. read more

We had ordered some books online for the holidays and there was some confusion the order (our confusion) and we had some duplicate books. We took a chance trying to return them here, half expecting that it was too long of a time. The manager, rather than just telling us that, was condescending asking where we bought the books, they were overdue (maybe she worked in a library previously). Just a very rude experience. I find it curious that brick and mortar chains don't even try to differentiate by being, at least, nice. Lost our business. read more

The worst Barnes and Noble on the island. Denise who works there is the rudest lady I have ever seen in my life . This lady needs to be fired. I am literally just trying to study for my exams and she always has something to say. I was drinking water and she had told me I was not allowed to drink it. Staten island ny...so while I was there I bought food from Starbucks in barnes and noble...be mindful I'm 8 weeks pregnant and i told them.however they left me outside in rain because they didnt want me to eat closer to the door but I wasn't in the way I made sure of that. Its ok, honestly the area is definitely smaller than the old Barnes and nobles. The store is more modernized and lacks the homey feel that the other one had, which I guess depends on the preferences of each person. Honestly, not my style, there is less privacy because the area is more open and the shelves are much lower. Like I said its based on preferences on whether or not this place might suit you. read more
