Parking sucked. We really didn't need any help....just some gift cards. The girl that rang us up, kept complaining that the cards weren't activating. I never buy books form this place (as you can get them cheaper on Amazon) but I did stop in for some Starbucks. I presented the staff member with a coupon for a free drink and she told me I couldn't use it because they aren't Starbucks. I told the woman that I was literate, and that the coffee cups and signs on the wall clearly read the name STARBUCKS. She then, in a smug tone of superiority, said that Barnes & Noble only sells Starbucks but does not honor its coupons. She could have told me this form the start, and in a polite manner. Barnes & Noble is a Nazi chain. I will never step foot into one again. Thank god there was a Starbucks across the street from the fascist bookstore, so I went over there and used my coupon (guy there was nice and gave me an extra shot in my drink). read more

When covid hit, this place went downhill. They act like customers are a nuisance, and treat them as such. They use it as an excuse to be rude, and have lost all sense of customer service. When I hear the employees/supervisors talking out loud about how horrible other customers are/were, it is pretty annoying. Customers are already annoyed at the masks and other rules the store enforces, but then they make it worse and escalate things with how they talk to the customers--like they're little children. No tact, no customer service. Mostly from the supervisors as well. Some of the regular employees are nicer at least. Ive been wanting to leave a review about this issue recently, but I keep coming back hoping it will have gotten better, but it seems like it's been getting worse. Especially now that they're starting to open up their cafe seating area. They seemed annoyed that we even bought drinks and wanted to sit there, and stated all their rules to us to even do so, and seemed annoyed that we still did after. As if they were trying to to talk us out of it. Barnes has always been one of my favorite places to come, but now it just annoys me every time I'm here. read more

Worst customer service EVER!! I was trying to return a book that I had just got as a gift and they would not take it with out a receipt. Not even for store credit. I explained that it was a gift I was not given a receipt he didn't care. Terrible customer service. Store was empty no wonder why it SUCKS!! Don't waste your time going to this location. In addition when I was standing in front of the cashier I had to initiate the conversation he just ignored me and my kids! Terrible location, horrible return policy! This B&N is sub-par to others I've been to. The book selection is okay, but more often than not it's impossible to find any. The book-finder computers are always malfunctioning, or un-usable. The staff is not of the kindest nature, nor do they know where things are located. Also, the "Starbucks" at this location is NOT a Starbucks, but rather a B&N Cafe serving "Starbucks." This is made public on the cups, and probably on some signage. That explains why the brewers are nasty and rude, and why the drinks taste like crap. I tried to pay with my Starbucks Card (10 stars away from Gold), and the clerk gave me this rather rude look and said "We're not a starbucks. Are you a member?" I say yes, and she says, "Use your card." Okay.. so upon second swipe of my Starbucks card, she re-iterates that it's not a Starbucks.. and she gets nastier. What damn card am I supposed to use? A member of what? Starbucks or B&N? Some specificity please? Then she finally proceeds to explain (or attempts to, rather) that as they're not a Starbucks they can't take gift cards (excuse me, it's an account card).. rather rudely. So I pull out my Debit, swipe it. Oops. Swipe it again. Nope.. then she swipes it from me. Does her own little thing with it.. and says "now put your pin." WTF? After that whole ordeal, I sit down and begin studying. 10 minutes later, no drink. 15 minutes later, no drink. 20 minutes later, I get up and see my drink sitting on the counter. No call? Later, it would turn out that wasn't the case because they replaced my harpie-clerk with a real banshee, who would literally shout the names of each patron out. Great. Not to mention my drink was watery, gross, and not filled up. So to summarise things, the book section of the store is sub-par, but acceptable and the cafe section of the store is absolute crap. If you come for drinks, stay away. If you come for relaxation, stay away! They have no chairs, except for in the cafe (in which you NEED to buy a drink). And, if you come for books, make sure they're reserved. read more

Having been a long time Barnes and Noble patron, I must admit that the customer service at the Temecula B&N is pretty craptacular. Every time I purchase something there, it feels like I am interrupting the cashier's day, or requesting an audience with the Queen of England. On the floor, the employees are great, and very helpful, but it seems that those stuck behind the cashier feel like they are in the innermost ring of Dante's inferno. It is also in a pretty good location. The Starbucks is okay, and the book selection is pretty run-of-the-mill for a Barnes and Noble. I would recommend it for those looking for a place to spend some time leisurely reading while sipping on a Mocha Frappuccino. Could really use some more places to sit though. I always see at least 2-3 people at any given time running around on the prowl for an open chair. read more

I just came back from a trip here and was both happy and sad. The reason for my visit was to purchase a gift card for my goddaughter's upcoming birthday. When I walked into the store, I unconsciously walked to the children's book section. The section was very tidy and books were arranged accordingly. Of course the majority of books in this section I had never heard of, but what made me happy was finding a classics section that had nearly book I ever read as a youngster. Here comes the happy part. Instead of buying a gift card for my goddaughter I thought it was a much better idea to just buy books that I think she would like. I also bought her a book that I loved as a child. I figured that I could write a little dedication inside with a little explanation of how awesome the book was to me. So I ended up buying 3 books and a gift card. Tomorrow I mail the books out, hopefully they reach her before her birthday. Now for the sad part. While looking for books, I started thinking to myself, "wouldn't it be so great if I was here with my wife and kids?" Now before you get all weird, I don't have any kids, and I'm also single at the moment. But I just thought it was weird that I got a little emotional. While I enjoy coming here to browse the books, the service is always poor. I try really hard to support brick and mortar stores, but Barnes and Noble makes it really difficult for me. In several instances I have looked online to see if a book is in stock, gone to the store to find it and can't. I ask for help and they tell me they only have one in stock and it's missing. Then they tell you they can order the book for you and it ships free to store. The one time I did this (because Amazon didn't have this particular book) I waited for two weeks for it to arrive. I finally reserved it again and went in to pick it up and they had two under my name. They didn't even call or email me to let me know the first request had been there! Pros: You can hold a physical book in your hands. The children's section is really cute. Cons: They charge really high prices. They don't price match (not even their own website). Shipping takes forever. Customer service is terrible. They don't know where to look for books and will just give up, instead offering to order it for you. (If I wanted to order a book online, I'd just go to Amazon with the 2 day shipping and better prices). If you absolutely need a book THAT DAY then give them a try. Just know they might not even have it in stock for you. If you can wait 2 days, give Amazon prime a try and get a better deal while you're at it. read more

I love this book store for their selection and various categories. I also appreciate that they finally have more staff walking around aksing if customers need help (rather than us having to stand in line at the help counter to inquire about a book). The only negative I have (and, it occurs every time I go in) is when I check out, they ask me if I'm member - I reply "no, and thank you", they then ask if I want become a member - I reply "no, thank you", they then go on about the benefits, etc. - no matter how many times I politely say "thank you, I'm not interested", they push. I wonder if they receive a commission for every person they sign up - ?? Not only is this process annoying, it holds up their already long line to check-out. I'll always go back to B&N, but do wish they'd back-off and let us just enjoy their store the way we, the customer, want to enjoy it! read more

Staff is rude as hell. We came in with our 2 year old to view books and my 8 year old. My 8 year old sat on floor and was looking at a book (trying to foster excitement for reading and learning) and my 2 year old was excited to look at books. An employee told us we can't sit down or read in store ... why is the store open then? So my wife and I left if they don't want our business done. She explained to my son they didn't want our business and then the employee started laughing as we walked out. Never going here again. read more

I've been there two days in a row at night. First night on Thursday, February 10th @ 6:30, it was a little busy with a long line and I was buying deserts and after paying for it, the barista takes the next customer and gets her order (who also only ordered desert also) then starts talking to her co-worker she seemed overwhelmed, seriously took 5 minutes to get my dessert which she put in individual boxes, I wanted to jump over and help her since the line jut kept getting longer. Please somebody, train your people! I know you are not Starbucks but take their customer service training. read more

Horrible employees work at Temecula location , went into location today and employees were taking pictures of customers ? For what reason I have no idea , they took a picture of an older man who got angry and made him delete the picture, they took my brothers picture and angered him and finally took my picture , I asked why my picture was taken and lady said I looked awkward standing in the middle of the store ? I was using WiFi there and the reception seemed best in that spot , I go into that location once every week or two, to buy mostly magazines , metal hammer , classic rock , rock candy , power play , planet rock , decibel , revolver , horror hound , rue morgue and scream magazine I pick up every new issue that hits the stands , they are not cheap about 10-17 dollars an issue and I'm always picking up new issues at this location , I must spend 50-80 dollars or more easy here a month ,I even have had the barnes and noble membership card on and off last 17 years , the lady that took my picture has asked me numerous times what my phone number is to look up my barnes and noble membership , can she really be that clueless to not know regular customers who always buy from you ? She treated me and my brother like we were trying to steal something , when my brother walked out I heard her say "black hat guy just left " on wireless walkie talkies they use , unreal , I even asked to speak to the manager and and he asked what I was doing at store ? I'm a customer lol I asked him why lady took my picture and his words were " we are allowed to take your picture, what does it matter for anyway ? I always enjoy exploring the books available at Barnes and Noble. This location has a good selection of novels to choose from and the store is also a decent size. They have a cafe inside so you can sip some coffee or tea while you decide which book you may buy. Unfortunately, they do not have many outlets in the cafe. Other than that it's a good spot to find your next book to read. read more

I come here at least once a week. I love the selections of books but I will agree with most reviews about the cafe. It sucks!!!!! The food is way overpriced for what you're getting. The drinks aren't even remotely close to the same quality of an actual Starbucks. My chief complaint is how loud the employees are. Their personal conversations are so distracting. I find it odd how it's not the customers who are loud but the employees. This used to be my place to relax and enjoy my hobby but I can't believe how much blabbing goes on at this place read more

I normally don't write these bad reviews or maybe it was just a bad experience overall. This happen over the weekend placed a product on hold waited a day called back to double check the next day that the item was avaliable and they said it was in their hand as we spoke so I make the commute to Temecula from rialto just to hear they have no idea what the item was and no where to be found. Like wow really!!? That's the worst experience I've ever had to deal with in retail. Very unprofessional and frustrating to drive a long way to hear this BS. Thanks for wasting my time. read more

I'd say it's more like 3 1/2 stars. We're in Temecula every week so while my wife is with clients, I'm usually running errands around town. I had to do a return here a couple of weeks ago and the worker was very friendly. I had a gift receipt, which of course, made it less hassle. I'm actually surprised that they're still open with everything going online. It's nice to have a brick & mortar store to stop into. Honestly, with the prices though, I buy everything online. Ha ha, they carried a book that I was a contributor for. It's always cool to see bookstores carry my stuff. They just gave me store credit and I bought something on their online store. read more

Went in with my husband he wanted war and Native American books he found that all very quick. However I was having trouble what I was looking for and was a little embarrassed to ask a staff member after wondering around for a hour staff memeber coco I believe her name is asked if I needed any help so I finally said yes please and let her know what I was looking for she helped me out so much I got about 4 or 5 books that I think will help me tremendously!!! 5 stars, because I love the location of this Barnes. I don't know how many times I've come here to study, and although they SAY that you need to buy something from the cafe in order to sit in their seating area, I've come here a couple of times and have gotten away with just being there without ordering. I love how theres always water available as well. The cafe area is very neat and clean with a lot of sitting area. and I'd say this Barne's is pretty organized for it's size. Although they are usually busy helping people at their information desk in the middle, they do have a computer that can help you locate a book or whatever it is you're looking for. The staff at checkout always asks if I found everything OK and asks if I know about their rewards program, which is very kind of them. The people here really know what they're doing, where you can find things which is what I appreciate the most. The location is right across the mall so I'd say it's semi-busy... but i love coming to any Barne's and strolling the aisles :) that is all. The experience that I am going to be referring to does not involve this location, however, it does involve Barnes and Noble. I am extremely disappointed in the experience I have had with my last order that was placed online. They chose a delivery service that was not authorized to deliver to the facility I was having the 3 books shipped to. When I called their customer service line on Monday November 16th, 2020, 10 days after I placed my order and 6 days after the item shipped. The man I spoke to said he would resubmit the order, HE DID NOT DO THAT BEFORE THE REFUND WAS SUBMITTED TODAY NOVEMBER 19TH, 2020. now I have been partially refunded and have to wait until the other book comes on to be refunded doe that as well. I ordered a total of 3 books! He informed me that he would make sure to select USPS as the delivery service and expedite the order as I had chosen that as well originally. Here we are on November 19, 2020 and I called again because I received a email with a refund for half the amount, and have to wait until all the books are returned although I order all 3 books at the sametime. On top of that they are unsure if they are going to be able to refund me foe the shipping that I paid as well. I am not sure if I will order ever again from Barnes and Noble!!! One of my favorite stores EVER. I love B&N. I love books. I love their B&N Classic Novel Collection at such an affordable price. With all the new availability for ebooks and books from cheap online stores, I feel like people probably tend to avoid these big stores. I however, absolutely love coming in and shopping for a new read or add to my collection. This store isn't as big as some of the others, but it is spacious and cozy. They have a starbucks cafe where you can sit and enjoy your new find. I have also used this area for research when I had school work to do (like a library). They are open late, so I always stop by after my trip to the mall or a movie. There are always different specials. This week I got a hardcover collection of Sherlock Holmes with 44 shorts stories and 4 novels for the low price of $7.98! HARDCOVER! This is a steal. They also have other greats: Poe, Austen, Dickens, etc. I highly recommend supporting this bookstore! I'd love for them to survive, as many big bookstores have died off. read more

The cafe is still the worst part of the B&N. They harass you the moment you sit down - YOU MUST BUY SOMETHING TO OCCUPY THAT SEAT! Forget that you've spent thousands of dollars in the store buying books and magazines. If you don't buy that latte you may not occupy space. They removed all outlets to discourage laptop users and the chairs are so unstable there should be a CAUTION sign 'Sit At Your Own Risk". Not only must you purchase coffee but.... If you can believe it, once I paid for coffee and a desert and sat down in the cafe only to have a rather large woman with black hair come over and count the number of books and magazines I had. She wanted me to put some back (I had 5), because she said they only allow up to two items off the shelf at once to prevent any spills. I said OMG, you made me buy the coffee in order to sit here, now you're concerned it may tarnish the book I'm reading!!!! WTF! They are lazy and simply don't want to have to put the books back on the shelf if I decide not to purchase all. Corporate should do something about the way this particular B&N is managed. It's terrible. Temecula needs a new bookstore - one with comfortable seating and a non hostile staff that wants to work. read more

The fact they even have a library, I'm very grateful. They have an interesting staff. One lady threatened to call the cops, and asked me to leave the building because I said an inappropriate statement to an 18 year old. I'm 19 by the way. I said something along the lines of "Your lipstick adds to your sexual appeal"... then a few statements about my passion for talking to people and a little bit about veganism. Another lady kept imposing corporate rules on me to stop sitting down on the floor. Thirdly at the very end, a younger staff member would mention about how I was hitting on every girl in the building , and she was saving them from me. In my defense, I like to talk to people and most of the interactions in Barnes and noble is insane! I meet very high-level people in libraries :) that's why I do it. There are a few bunch that don't get me which may come across to them as discomforting, I'm sorry..I'll just add a bit of awareness. Honestly, i believe that Barnes and noble should be a place to connect with people. Our social word is changing, and to meet people in a bar is less appetizing. read more

Good location just outside the mall, includes a Starbucks location within. It's sometimes hard to find staff when I need help finding something, but whatever. My experience has been that the most friendly staff are at the Starbucks cafe and a the B+N checkout registers. (Hmmm.) Kids reading area is nice and my kids love hanging out there for hours, although it gets really busy there on the weekends. read more

I hate this B&N. I tried to buy my review material at this location and they didn't have the ones I needed, just a bunch of review books from companies that weren't highly recommended or ones I haven't even heard of. I ended up just buying my review books off of Amazon. The staff is rude, they force you to buy a drink to be able to sit down in the cafe area and never have I seen them smile. I shall continue to baby my small drink, study hours on end, and use up their wifi just to get under their skin. I think they should also offer a free digital copy of books on ipads/nooks/kindles I mean you bought the book and their stupid ebook reader, is it so much to ask to get the digital copy for free? There are just times I don't really want to bring my 1000+ page book everywhere--it'd be easier on my ipad but noooo you have to buy the stupid book twice. read more

Now there are only two benches for everyone to fight over. This might be a move to prevent cheap bastards like myself from just coming in and reading magazines. They don't even take starbucks giftcards as payment. The door man kept eyeballing me like he was a Steven Seagal villain. Now there is only one type of guy who does that, and that's if you're looking for a fight. Someone needs to train this guy in manners before he gets his ass kicked. No Joke. He is a Bookstore doorman, not the bouncer at the Double Deuce. Oh and some poor girl needed to find a place to sit, and she grabbed a few chairs to scoot over by a table, the employee piped up and said "WE DONT ALLOW ANYONE TO USE THOSE CHAIRS." So the lady shrugged, and went had to borrow a chair from someone else. After that, the employee kept complaining and bitching about how people need to know they can't use those chairs. I love going here. I go fairly often to relax in the cafe, have some coffee and read for a while. Very peaceful and relaxing for the most part. The staff in the cafe are friendly and make very good drinks. The staff in the rest of the store are very helpful when trying to find a book that is hard to locate While a little bit smaller than other B&N's, they still have a very large selection. You can usually find what you're looking for. Or if you go in with nothing specific in mind, just walk around for a bit, I guarantee you will find several things that you like read more

So, my husband and I went to the fake Starbucks in Barnes and Noble to kill some time before the mall opened as may people do I imagine, when the fake Starbucks Karen taking our drink order rudely informed us twice that we were not allowed to walk around with our drinks or bring any books/magazines in the lounge with us while we enjoyed our beverages. I was fine with this, and we sat down looking at our phones instead. About 10 min. in, still not finished with our drinks might I add, fake Starbucks Karen comes over to us and tells us this lounge area is not for lounging and we are not allowed to look at our phones either. Why is the sitting area even open if people are going to be harassed for sitting in it? Are you telling me that If I were to have paid to eat in a restaurant they would be trying to kick me out after receiving my meal because restaurants are not for eating in? Needless to say, we were beyond the point of being pissed and were more insulted than anything. If I were a ruthless person, I would have emptied the remainder of my drink all over the floor so that fake Starbucks Karen would have something to do other than monitor how long guests were occupying her precious lounging area. read more

I love going to Barnes & Noble. I usually go to the Corona and/or Riverside location but decide to check out the Temecula location, worst experience I've ever had! Felt like the employees judged me because of my skin color! Didn't get asked once if I needed help but any customer with a lighter skin color was gladly assisted. I let it roll off my back and proceeded to check out with some books but the employee wouldn't let me use my 15% coupon. The employee Said it was an online code but it specifically said good for online and in store purchases. He wouldn't honor my coupon so I just decide to leave! Ordered a book online to pick it up and granted I should have waited to get confirmation that they did IN FACT HAVE the book in store before driving half hour out of town to pick it up, but the payment went through so I figured I'd go ahead and call the store to get someone to confirm that they have this book alreday. After all, why the hell would they have processed the damn payment online and tell me the payment went through successfully, right??? Long story short, after waiting on the phone forever....??? I decided to just head over anyway because it's B&N--for sure they'd have it, otherwise, thy the hell process my payment, right...??? So, I get there, reach for my phone and wouldn't you know it, they texted me while I was on the road to say, they're sorry, they don't have my book in stock...??? AND, get this, they said, they would "not charge me." Well, no shit shirlock!! Why would you charge me for an item you DON'T have?!!! And, what I can't figure out is how the hell do you run the payment through in the FIRST place??? Because if ya'll had your shit together, the computer would clearly say, "ITEM OUT OF STOCK."
