This was a very large Barnes and Noble with a beautiful view of Westlake. The upstairs kid area had a large selection of books and toys. There is an area in front of the large windows with a table for kids to play and seating area for parents. My toddler enjoyed the time we spent at the bookstore. They have a Starbucks like most Barnes and Nobles so you can get some coffee and hang out. read more

What is there to say about a book store that still sells paperbacks in a mostly digital world seemingly obsessed with social media? Well, they still have Wi-Fi. Which, I suspect is a key feature that draws in the majority of their clientele. It's worth mentioning they also have a coffee shop inside. One that...interestingly enough, sells Starbucks coffee, yet suspiciously does not have the Starbucks scanning app. But they DO accept NFC payments. Always a plus in my book. Located in a ville of sorts, this is a nice spot to just sit, sip coffee, and read or have a casual coffee date with a friend. I wish I were doing the latter. As a used book bookstore bookseller myself I have high hopes anytime I visit any bookstore. This particular BN knocked it out of the park. I wish I had gotten the name of the bookseller who helped me. She was fabulous and made recommendations of books I was not familiar with. I ended up buying 2 books she recommended and 2 books I went in to purchase specifically. The layout was different in this particular BN and it worked really well. I had the day off work today (18 Feb. 2019) for President's day so I decided to drive to beautiful Crocker Park. BOOKS -- I love Barnes & Nobles and always have. It's great to browse through all the books while sitting and people watching. I came to work on my laptop at the cafe. GIFTS - There are endless gift ideas to choose from here including candles, cute journals, handbags, magnets, natural soaps, and other little intricacies. CAFE -- There is a cafe inside that sells Starbucks coffee and Harney & Sons tea. I'm a tea drinker so I ordered the Ginger tea. I experienced great service from the woman behind the counter. To sweeten your drinks, they have sugar and honey on the side where the napkins are located. The cafe also sells sandwiches, soups, and pastries (bagels, croissants, cookies, etc). I arrived at noon and the cafe was quiet. Around 3pm when I was leaving, it became more noisy. FREE WIFI - There is free wifi here. Connect to "BNWifi" and then you'll be all set. There are bathrooms on the first floor. The parking garage is free; otherwise, you can park outside but you will need to pay at the meter. This place has icky vibes. Sure the selection is good but there are always people walking around everywhere, teenagers getting Starbucks, and a million people going to the bathroom. I asked for a book and the guy at the help desk looked at me like I was stupid for asking him for a book. He sucked. Really dipped out of my bucket. Not to mention it's hard to park to get there. Um- Barnes and Noble is just a dangerous store in general lol I rarely visit book stores (I honestly should visit them and read more) but- when I do I end up buying the world! Haha This location is in a really cool spot. It's in a small shopping area a few blocks long. I was staying at a hotel near by so decided to take a walk and check out what was close by. I saw this store and thought- oh boy- I am gonna get lost in there if I go in. I tried to resist but I failed lol The store is huge! Very well organized. They have two floors. I'm a big kid so I ended up walking over to the toys and collectibles first haha I managed to not buy any collectibles which was hard for me to do :-/ Went upstairs and glanced around. So in short, I ended up leaving with a zombie tarot card deck, a hard covered "Back to the future" book all about the movie, a "deadpool" coloring book, and a "Rolling Stone David Bowie" collectible magazine. Did I "need" these things? Absolutely not! haha This is why I can't be trusted in these huge book stores! But eh- why not splurge a bit! Above all- great location, nice big store! Plenty of places upstairs to sit and relax. There's also a food counter in there, and bathrooms. You really could spend the whole damn day in here if you wanted! And on a day like this- it was snowing and gloomy out- so it was a perfect day to spend at a spot like this. I would have stayed longer if I didn't have dinner plans afterwards haha Probably better that way- because I would have found way more stuff to buy! read more

I usually go to Borders for magazines, but we stopped in here to buy Look At This F*cking Hipster, the book. It's nice enough. Clean, quiet, nice staff. I still like Borders better. How both of these stores coexist at Crocker is beyond me. Note about Crocker Park- this store is in the safe part of this "lifestyle" shopping center. Once you venture down to Dave's Cosmic Subs or Trader Joe's, you take your life into your own hands. That back area is the skid row of Crocker. I have seen people wearing not designer jeans and parking not crossover vehicles in the non valet parking lot. The RTA even stops there for Pete's sake. Please be very careful when venturing to this haven of crime. I suggest having 911 at the ready on the I-Phone. One time some person, who clearly did not have a membership to a Westlake country club, tried to ask me where Cheesecake Factory was. Thank the constitution for my right to defend myself using lethal force. read more

I have to add to this. Today started off as a disappointing outing to B&N. We ordered our lattes and they were burnt. My husband went back up and politely explained they were burnt. The barista asks "so did you want me to remake them?" I'm thinking oh no they are so deliciously burnt we just thought we would come up and share. My husband responds yes please. So she remakes them. Lo and behold, burnt yet again. So he returns and says I'm sorry but these are also burnt. The barista says well I remade them. Ok and? If they are burnt I do not care how many times you remake them. Burnt is burnt. So my husband requests a refund. We wait for our little one to finish her pretzel and her milk. She is very happy and satisfied. The we go upstairs , she picks out a stuffed puppy and we leave. We are putting her in her car seat when we both realize she no longer has her Nintendo 3d DS. We race back just knowing it's gone for good. My California mentality kicks in, just knowing someone pocketed it and took it home. I'm trying not to panic. I got to the register and ask if anyone has turned it in. She guides me to the customer service kiosk lost and found. I ask if someone turned it in. The girl says yes, the woman just brought it a few minutes ago saying some little person was going to be extremely upset that it was gone. I almost cried. I wish I could thank this woman in person. Honest, compassionate, and caring. She's right. This little one is a sensitive little soul. And the meltdown that would have ensued, along with the genuine heartbreak were all averted, thanks to an honest person. In California had something like this happened we would barely have turned away from where it was left and someone would have snatched it and ran. And I know a good many people personally who would not have done The right thing. It's reaffirmed my faith in humanity and honesty. I cannot thank this person enough and wish I had been able to in person. And thank you to the staff in B&N for also being honest. Amazing! read more

The world of print publications is not dead. Not even close. Ok, maybe close, but this Barnes and Noble made me believe again. Two floors of everything from children's to classics, bags to CD's, educational to trashy. What a site. Yes, yes, yes there was a Starbucks in the back as expected. Upstairs had an amazing children's section and their offering of classic novel collections was something special. Very open area with lots of room to move, browse, walk and even sit and read for a while. read more

I rarely visit Crocker Park. My visit to Barnes & Noble today reminded me exactly why. I am a 40-year old HIspanic, college-educated, well-spoken female. However, I look very young for my age and people tend to think I'm still in my 20's. Maybe they think I'm just a young punk and couldn't possibly afford whatever it is they're selling in their store. Whenever I visit a store in a dominantly white neighborhood such as this, the white employees tend to look down their noses at me. Which is exactly what happened to me today. It's sad that this still happens in 2016, but this happens to me every time I visit Crocker Park. I just hope I like my new Nook enough to make this trip to B&N worth it. read more

I guess I usually prefer B&N to Borders...although I don't really have a good reason for this other than the fact that it's where I always went as a kid. This Crocker Park location is fine, with two levels (not nearly as annoying as the four- level ones I have been to!). They seemed to have a rather weak selection today and I couldn't really find what I was looking for. Also, the cafe baristas are sorta like robots. I know this is expected at most Starbucks, but it was really noticeable here. They said stuff like, "The tall is teeny. Would you like to size-up to a grande for only 40 cents more?" No, and you'd better stop giving me the cookie-cutter movie theater bribes before I size down to a short! read more

This is a fun two-level Barnes and Noble; it's a great place to relax during a long shopping marathon at Crocker Park or find the book or magazine that you want to snatch up! They have a great selection of books and magazines and their sale section is especially awesome. The cafe leaves a lot to be desired, though. Service there always moves at a glacial pace, which means that mile-long lines form on busy nights. Inevitably, these lines snake through a good bit of the seating area, leaving those who sit there at risk of feeling claustrophobic. Some of the other seats are located near the door, enabling those who sit there to receive frequent blasts of frigid air during the winter or humid air during the summer. I wish there were actually a full-scale Starbucks located in the main section of Crocker Park, not at the edge of the Promenade. The prices here tend to be a bit higher for CD's\DVD's than at Borders too. However, the browsing areas are a lot nicer than Borders' browsing areas--I always tend to feel a bit cramped there. read more

I'm a big reader...and when I say big reader, I mean I read probably a good 2-4 books a week. What can I say, reading calms me!! With this affinity for reading, it's only natural that I find bookstores my second home. I normally frequent local booksellers, because hey, I'm all about supporting the local busineses, but when it comes down to needing a read on short notice, this Barnes & Noble is my go to place! I've found things easily searchable, the staff helpful, and the hours convienient. They've been able to help me locate books that are about to be out of print and order fashion magazines printed out of the country (most noteably the French fashion magazine Purple and Visionaire). Unfortunately, the downside to ordering these items is that they weren't in the store. I would have liked to have been able to purchase them forthwith, but alas that wasn't an option. The selection sometimes does leave a bit to be desired out of a bookstore, but the friendliness and ease of ordering items halfway makes up for it. Perhaps another gripe about this particular bookstore would be the in-store Starbucks Cafe. As a girl who can't live without daily Starbucks, the cleanliness of the cafe and the poor attitudes of the baristas working there, make me want to hold off on my venti vanilla chai and wander over to another Starbucks (there's a second one less than a 2 minute drive away in the Westlake Promenade shopping center, I don't even have to go on to main roads, I drive through parking lots)! My last minor complaint about this particular bookstore is that on a weekend night, it seems to be tween hangout central. I don't mind teenagers in any particular location, except for a bookstore. Tonight when I was in there, they were loud, blocked aisles, and overall disruptive when I was attempting to pick out a new book. When shopping by myself, I usually wear headphones, tonight I could hear them through them. I understand though, you're in the 12-17 range, you can't get in any 18+ venues and you need somewhere to hang out, especially since you most likely live in surburbia and your mother dropped you off at Crocker Park hours ago and Barnes & Noble is the last thing left open. I've been there, I feel your pain, we were all 12-17 once! However with that being said, I liken a bookstore somewhat to a library, it should be quiet, easy to navigate, and filled with books. Aside from the tweeny-bopper noise over the latest magazine with Justin Bieber on the cover, the Barnes and Noble in Crocker Park seems to fit the bill. read more

Anyone ever loved a bookstore for it's food? I think I am the first one. And here is why: I think I figured out new dieting tip. It is a well-know fact that American society over-eats. But hardly anyone knows why. I think the problem is that in this country we go to eat to places where we are expected to eat, or to be more precise, to over-eat. Let's say you go to the trendy burger diner with your friends on Saturday. Of course absolutely everyone and everything wants you to have a burger. And even if you were thinking: "Oh I am going to have their Cobb salad", the thought evaporates the minute you entered the joint and intoxicating smell of fresh French Fries started to claim your soul and stomach. Of course you will have the burger, fries, maybe even an appetizer and a beer. Simply because the place CONDITIONED you to do so. Now try to pull off the same at the bookstore café. First of all, no French Fries for obvious reasons ( fat stains on the pages?), second of all, portions are smaller and you will not order two turkey paninins under the poster of "Farewell to Arms". You would think: " Hemingway wouldn't have done it. He fought the wars through the freezing German rain, he was lucky to have a stale slice of Russian bread." If Hemingway wouldn't touch you, Jane Austin will. "Seriously, two paninis young lady? How on Earth will you fit into the dress you saw on sale at Macy's? Other more reasonable ladies who had one Panini will." Everywhere you look in the store, you stumble upon someone famous, skinny, spiritual or all of it. I am not even talking about entire diet aisle which is strategically located a floor above, not to ruin your skinny Panini. And food tastes amazingly fresh in there. Because you are not burdened with expectations of it to be great. You don't dwell on your dining experience there. You devour your food in the corner and then wonder around pretending that you are above all of that, just like Gandhi, and you are so spiritually transparent because only good thoughts and water feed your soul. You can call it pretentious, I call it smart. Have dinner there once a week and I can guarantee you will finally fit into the skinny jeans sold at Urban Outfitters next door. read more

The Gang from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has taught me innumerable life lessons over the past several years: 1) Do not plug an open wound with trash, 2) All politicians will blast your ass, and 3) Any amount of cheese before a date is too much cheese. Now, I'm not the educated college type, but when I heard the Gang wrote a self help book entitled "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The 7 Secrets of Awakening the Highly Effective Four-Hour Giant, Today" I had to have it. I've even been drawing pictures of myself reading this novel in my Dram Bok. Upon entering Barnes and Noble I was taken aback by the amount of jabronis riffling through books like they're better than me. Ohhh, bet you read a lotta Gordon Wood, huh? You read your Gordon Wood and you regurgitate it from a textbook and you think you're wicked awesome doin' that, and how 'bout 'dem apples? And all that Gordon Wood business. But that's not even the worst part. This Barnes and Noble has an in-store Starbucks. Do you know what coffee breath smells like? An old lady fart passing through an onion. Now, I didn't get a whiff of anyone's breath, but I can imagine. On my way to the "self help" section I noticed a display of pens on the first floor, even though the "self help" section full of books is on the second floor. Yes, Barnes and Noble, put the books all the way upstairs, but leave the pens on the showroom floor. Oh, I get it. Cute. You leave this pen here and people are supposed to think, "Wait, that looks like a dick." Anyways, I'll just regress, because I feel I made myself perfectly redundant. When I reached the aisle where my book was to be located it was not there. I almost fainted, I thought I browned out because I was drinking grain alcohol in the parking lot. I asked a store clerk where I could locate the book, but it was "out of stock". What good is a brick and mortar book store if they don't even have books. I shoulda popped my shirt off. Goddammit, really shoulda popped that shirt off. Maybe then the clerk would have shown me where the secret room full of books was. Cause if the clerk said "no," then the answer obviously is "no." But the thing is, is she's not gonna say "no." She would never say "no," because of the implication. Anyhow, this place could be worse. I picked up a pack of stickers on the way out and ate them on the way home. read more

I had a serious problem with my nook downloading purchases. It was beyond a simple fix. Barb and a Gentleman whose name I didn't get were absolutely fantastic in helping me. They stayed with me the entire time it took. We needed to get B&N Help Line involved and they too were wonderful. You wont find better Customer service anywhere! This is my favorite Barnes & Noble location in NE Ohio. It is located right in the middle of Crocker Park, making it easy to get to. This is a spacious, two story location. There is a huge selection of books, magazines, and other bookstore items. They serve Starbucks coffee here as well as cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. There are also other bakery items from what I believe is their own company bakery (although I may be wrong about that). Overall, if you're looking for a good bookstore especially on the West Side, Barnes & Noble may be for you, even though it's a chain bookstore. read more

I enjoy coming here at night and sitting in the Starbucks when I need to get some reading or studying done. Many reviewers cite that their prices are not competitive and you can't find anything there, but duh. You are simply stating the obvious. If you need a book fast this is a fine place to get it. And on the weekends there are throngs of teenagers acting obnoxiously. It is really relaxing to be inside this bookstore. read more

Barnes & Noble is a huge asset to Crocker Park. The place is a gem. From the gorgeous, modern towering outdoor facade to the spacious, expansive 2 story interior (with elevator and escalator), the place is inviting and warm. There is an ample selection of books, magazines, CD's, DVD's, and children's games, toys, and science kits. There is also a coffee shop on premises as well. Yes, of course you can find stuff cheaper on Amazon, but what's a dollar or two more knowing that we can still have a great public bookstore where we humans can still congregate 'face to face' instead of turning into pasty-white, internet shopping 'shut-ins'! read more

Went in today and was happy to see the elephant book series with a buy one particular title and get the rest of the titles on the list half off. Went to the register with these books, as well as other items and the books didn't ring up for the correct price and the cashier, Chris, said the deal was BOGO. My son went back to look at the sign again to make sure we saw it correctly, since the cashier, Chris, went right on ringing up the rest of my items. He came back and told the cashier it was buy the title and get all of the other titles listed half off, but, Chris, insisted it was BOGO. My son told him to look at the sign and Chris stormed off to look at the sign and continued to insist he was right. I found the manager and asked her to give her interpretation of the "deal" and her response was we had to buy the books listed"?????? I told her we did have the books listed and she took our books, went to the list to "double check". When she said "well, they were on the list so there's so we will have to give them to you for half price", I told her no thanks and left. And they wonder why people buy their books off of Amazon. read more

so I went in here thinking that I was gonna see a purple dinosaur but then I realized I read it wrong on the sign, so I already was walking in disappointed. I really was pumped up to see Barney so I went to the kids section to find some Barney books. I asked some employees for help and they just looked at me awkwardly. I guess a guy in a fur suit isn't allowed in the children's section of Barney Noble. Anyways, I was eventually assaulted and sexually harassed due to my gender and thrown off the property. The security guards who are obviously homophobes who can't tolerate other lifestyles that aren't as privileged as theirs kept screaming something about me trying to rape kids or something. I was just asking what their favorite Barney episode was. I swear, I've jerked off to jpg's of wolves that are smarter than those shit-for-brains miniature ableists.
