Well welll well I want to give this place more stars because Dr Todd Brown and Chloe are great but the other staff needs more training. I called in to see get the prescription details and the lady didnt ask me for any information but just started talking about I have to pay $65 to get a prescription which my brother never had to pay before but I asked did she have his chart up and she says no because you havent given me and information and I said because you havent asked and she hung up in my face ... COMPLETELY RUDE AND UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR and I wish I had her name because I would 100% add it to this but she was working after 5pm so yall need to give her new training read more

Ok seriously I'll never go back there I was told I needed glasses dr tanner was my dr I told him I have been under stress and acccss I know they only pay for a exam if medically necessary which mine was and he said go ahead go get your glass I'll take care of them I was so excited as my eye sight is so bad I have to have my daughter with autism read the tv guide or movie titles . So my husband drives me to another location higley and southern I signed in and sat and waited 30 mins my husband stayed in the car with two of my kids who are autistic and had non stop melt downs I finally was called and told her dr tanner said he would take care of the cost of my glasses she then seemed shocked and started being rude and gave me major attitude started asking me questions of why I need free glasses and why I can't afford them even though not her business I told her and she said no it doesn't say anything at all about him saying it and read what things it said so I ran out of the office crying she made me feel so stupid!!! So I called to speak to a manager I was so upset she then calls me back and basically like she was calling me stupid saying the dr never said that and that I was confused and it was miscommunication and also that the thing he said was covered was the eye exam which I knew the eye exam was covered !!! I'll never ever ever get my eyes checked again there or even ever after this experience! We drove all the way from Florence which is so far away!!! Assistant staff is very nice and helpful. Doctor is very good and is knowledgeable. My problem is with billing. I received a bill in my email. The very next day, I received a PAST DUE notice. They did not give me a chance to pay. I have never had a bill past due. Then, when trying to pay, they want to charge me to pay. I know that is partially the credit card, but to pay extra for a doctor's visit, I don't appreciate. Would have been 5 stars except for billing. read more

Another BDP professional (Dr. Alam) saved the vision in my right eye in January of 2007; repairing seven tears to my retina, via emergency surgery. I have had two cataracts removed with these doctors, and continue to go there for my eye exams and eyeglass prescriptions when needed. My doctor there is Dr. Brown, he's very kind very patient and explains what's going on and I appreciate that. Gone are the days where the doctor does ALL your testing, but the technician's that I dealt with, which was three, were all very kind and knowledgeable. The front desk women were also very nice and offered to help if I needed it when I came in and signed in via the kiosk. I would definitely recommend. read more

The check in procedure not great. Liz is grumpy. Many of the folks here are cross from not being treated kindly. The doctor Dr Brown O D was selected for me. I am waiting so far within the 20-30 minutes the white sign says. Three folks that checked in after me have been called. Now wait time has exceeded 30 minutes. Doctor a bit impersonal but did a decent job of explaining in the end. Wouldn't chose this as my go to spot. read more

DANGEROUS. My husband received a referral for possible glaucoma. When they called to set up the appointment they Did Not tell us that his eyes would be dilated. I was babysitting that day but we figured he'd be fine going alone. He said there's a cold vibe like everyone there wishes they weren't. They dilated his eyes and after he went through they "assembly" line of doctors he was told to come back in 3 months and sent him on his way. As soon as he pulled out of the parking lot and got hit with the suns rays he couldn't see , and had to stop in the middle of the road. After upsetting drivers around him he was able to pull off to they side. He called the office and they asked if he was wearing his glasses, they never gave him glasses. The woman put him on hold and never came back. He could of caused a serious accident. Thank God he made it home safely. His eyes didn't clear up for hours read more

So my prior review has been removed despite Yelp's promises that companies cannot remove reviews. The gist of my review is this: I was told to pay $75 at the time of my appointment, which was a reasonable price for a full eye exam (they didn't check my prescription, though). One month later, the company tried to bill me an additional $129 after already soaking my insurance company for over $200, which brought the total for their "complete" eye exam (not including checking prescription -- that would have been extra) to almost $500. This is outrageous. I have never paid more than $100 for an actual COMPLETE eye exam. It has been three months since I went to them, and they continue to bill me, despite the fact that I have informed them I will NEVER pay this bill. It's simple extortion. Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere. If this review gets removed again, I will keep coming back and resubmitting it unless and until they write off the $129 they claim that I owe. UPDATE: They're still billing me. If the office ever reads these reviews, take note: I will NEVER change my mind, and I will NEVER pay this bill. You should be sanctioned for predatory business practices. read more

Follow-up review, 3/13/22 JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF MY REVIEW HAD BEEN REMOVED AGAIN. There were many more 1/2 stars than 3/5 but they got them removed claiming they were not from their location. WRONG, They are all one business operating the same. Exams one location, surgery another. IF you're considering this business for your eyecare I suggest you simply stop by any of their locations and observe the chaos, wait times. poor service, You'll be one of 20/40 in the main waiting room, you'll then be shuffled from one room, back to secondary waiting, to another room, back to waiting, to another room, back to waiting again for 20/30 min, minimum before you see the Doctor, etc. None of my 10/12 visits were less than 2 hours, give or take, for a total of maybe 10 minutes exam, and Doctor time. It's like feeding time at a fish farm, only for the elderly with Medicare or VA benefits. To many fish and not enough fish tenders Almost 2 years from 1st visit to final visit for cataract surgery that was screwed up causing serious scarring requiring laser removal. I still can't see properly. The director called to say he would meet with me, He never showed. Yes, the pandemic caused extra time but was considered for my reviews. read more

I rave, rave, rave about Barnet, Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. I haven't seen an optometrist in 12 years...I HATE eye exams & any procedure having to do with my eyes, but was referred to see one by my neurologist. Immediately, I was put at ease & distracted with pleasant conversation that made the exam more than bearable. Dr. Duong was gentle & sensitive to my fear. My exam was over before I knew it. Had a horrible experience at Barnet Dulaney Perkins this morning, May 25, 2022. My husband and I both had appointments, one at 9:30 am and one at 9:40 am. We arrived early at about 9:15 am. The check in process has changed and was a bit awkward, but we got checked in and had a seat in the waiting area. I noticed the gentleman behind the front desk come out into the waiting area and write something on the "white board". He didn't say a word to anyone, just wrote something down. It was about 9:37 am and neither of us had been called back yet. I stood up and read what he wrote on the "white board" and it said...... WAIT TIME 45 MINUTES - 1 HOUR. So, I went to front desk and asked if that truly meant that we were going to have to wait that long for our appointments. They said.... "yes, we are behind". I asked if this was normal and they said it just depends on the day of the week. I told them that my time was just as important as the doctor's time and I was not going to wait an hour for my appointment. I paid for my co pay and my husbands co pay and asked for that back. They said they could not give it to me and they would credit my account. My question is....... If they knew they were behind and the note was written on the "white board" why didn't the gentleman announce that to the patients waiting. Instead he said nothing. And, why couldn't they call the patients early this morning and let them know of the wait. It really bothers me when you go to a doctor and they feel that they are better than you and they have the right to make you wait for them. I will now look for a different doctor for my husband and I. I do not recommend this facility read more

Today I went in for a routine eye exam I had scheduled for 7:15am. Couple days prior they had called for a referral from my doctor. I had called my doctor they said I did not need a referral because my insurance covers it. Referral only needed to see the specialist. I called the eye center back to let them know I did not need a referral but my mistake because I had entered my appointment wrong I put it as some medical thing instead of a routine eye exam. The lady I spoke with on the phone was able to cancel my appointment and re enter it for the same day and time but this time as a routine eye exam. I had asked her if I needed a referral for my doctor to double check. She said no. I also called my insurance company to triple check this information. This was so I do not waste my time going to the eye center and make sure my insurance would cover it. I show up today and I'm greeted by the man at the front desk he asks my information and then says I need a referral. I told him I switched the appointment from medical to routine. He still told me in order to be seen, I need a referral because I'm a new patient. I told him he was not right and if he could call my insurance company and clear it up. He said they had tried several times to contact me and get the referral from me. I had told them I called them back and the lady on the phone told me I did not need a referral. He basically ignored the fact I wanted him to call my insurance so I ended up calling them in the office. I got my insurance on the phone they said exactly what I knew they would say. I stayed on the line with her and told the man that she is still saying there is no referral needed. He then argues against us and says that I already missed my time slot and won't be seen. The lady on the phone says she is going to call the escalation team to check the information we are saying is correct. While on hold I told him that I would like to just get checked because I made my appointment and drove all the way here. I told him why one person that works there would tell me one thing and then him tell me something different. He said since they have a support center it's not someone in office so they may have different information. I told him why would they cancel my appointment time if it was not my fault. I showed up on time. He got me frustrated so I asked to speak with someone other than him. (still on hold with agent) A lady comes out and says the same as him. She explains that because of the insurance I have they do not think they'll be able to cover it. I told her I already called them before and insurance said they would cover it and I'm on the phone with them now. She then asks if I would like to wait and speak with the office manager when he/she gets there or the doctor himself. I said office manager so she said okay but she can not promise I will be seen today. I sat down and the agent comes back and says whether I was a new patient or existing patient I would be covered and need no referral for a routine eye exam. The agent then asks if I would like to file a grievance since the man at the front desk had said they won't be able to help me out. I agreed to filing the grievance and did so while waiting for the office manager in the waiting room. While she was filing the grievance the front desk lady comes back and asks me to come and sign a paper agreeing that any charges I would promise to pay. My agent still on the phone tells me that what they are making me do is illegal and to not sign anything. I placed her on speaker phone and the agent told her why it was illegal. The agent says everything is covered because they are contracted with them and it is stated in the handbook that a routine eye exam is covered and got off the phone. The front desk man apologizes to me for the way he was being. Hopefully he learns to not assume everything he knows to be true and gets more knowledge from this situation. read more
