Amazing first visit here!! I was referred very highly to Dr. LaLonde by a friend, and they were right-she was just the right fit for my young teen daughter. Handled all of our questions and concerns in a kind and professional way. Couldn't be happier, and I'll be setting appts for myself and other kids to be seen here. I may have been 'upsold' on some things at other optometrists I feel, but that didn't happen here at all. Conveniently located, and every other employee was great. Checkout guy was so kind as well-and several of them checked on us while waiting to offer water etc. The office is clean and updated. Even the guy in eyeglass shopping area was helpful and offered to help me check insurance quickly, even though I could tell he was busy. Thankful I found this office! read more

Another thing that i saw so many times was people come out of seeing the doctor with a new eye prescription and the places closes at 5pm and anytime after 4pm they tell you sorry our systems close at 4pm so i can't take payment so you can order or pick up. Parking 5/5 Plenty of strip mall spaces available including Handicap near the front. Today I had a space near the office. Atmosphere 5/5 This location is much better than their other office in every way! Modern contemporary. Service 5/5 Always friendly check-in staff here! They see patients for normal annual exams forces health, for dilation eye exams for eye glass prescriptions and a verity of surgeries including retinal detachment laser surgery, cataract surgery and LASIK surgery. Dr Sherlock has zero bedside manner. He told me I was getting old and need glasses and everyone needs glasses by the time they are 50 bc their "Lens" gets hard. And said that my normal Optometrist lied and I don't have cataract in my eye. I only went here because I couldn't get into my normal Optometrist before the year end. Too many snow birds, I guess. Anyways, I took my "new"prescription from this joke of an optometrist to Costco and Costco questioned this dude, due to my last 3 years of prescriptions... they told me to "go back to your normal optometrist asap bc the guy you saw is wrong". So I went back to Swaggel Wotten and they told me Dr Sherlock was smoking crack. I do have a mild or starter of a cataract. And the BS of everyone needing glasses is just that, BS. On top of that Bartnet wanted to over charge me even though my insurance covers my yearly exam!! So I called them today and turns out that they used my medical insurance instead of my vision insurance!! Claiming they never had my vision info. Seriously I'll never go back to Barnet Delaney who clearly employ folks who get their degree out of the crack jack box!!! Never again!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Lewis for almost 10 years. But, my most recent appointment was extremely frustrating. I arrived at my appointment early. They took me in back within about 10 minutes and I took 2 of the 3 tests, that took about 20 minutes. Then I was told to wait in the back waiting room, which took about 20 minutes, for the 3rd test. After the 3rd test, then I was told to go back to the waiting room to wait to see the Doctor. While I was waiting I observed 2 other patients that had later appointments, go ahead of me to see the Doctor, by this time it had been over an hour and one half, I felt I had waited long enough and got up to leave. I told the girl at the checkout counter that I was leaving. She said, (with an attitude) that we needed to talk to Dr. Lewis, I said you talk to him, I'm leaving. I left. Also I feel that I should not be charged for the Doctor Appointment. read more

I chose Southwestern Eye Center based off of their reviews and after initially seeing an optometrist who told me I needed to see an ophthalmologist. I was seen by Dr Rahman who is really nice and because I had already been seen by an outside optometrist they let me see an ophthalmologist on my first appointment with them. The assistant Kim who took me back before I saw Dr. Rahman was incredibly mean and rude to me during my entire visit. I have never had eye issues before and so everything was very new to me. I didn't understand any of the tests or procedures and just wanted basic knowledge of what was happening during my appointment. After explaining my symptoms and what was happening she started the tests with a picture of my eye but didn't tell me that's what she was doing and just told me to look through this tiny hole where a really bright light then flashed and took the picture. I had already explained to her that my eye was really sensitive to light and after she took the first picture I moved my head back as I wasn't expecting the bright light and told her that it hurt and she huffed and very unsympathetically told me that she needed to redo it because she didn't get the image. She then went to put numbing eye drops in my eyes and as she did it she told me it was going to burn. She again didn't tell me until they were being put in my eyes. I started crying because I was feeling very nervous and her attitude was making me feel like I was one big inconvenience to her. She didn't ask me if I was ok as she saw me crying she just kept going. She then told me they were going to dilate my eyes in which I've never had done before and I asked her what it meant to dilate your eyes and how would it affect me. She again responded very rudely and told me that it would cause my eyes to be slightly sensitive to light but didn't tell me how blurry it would cause my vision to be. When I told her I drove there alone and asked if it would it be ok for me to drive afterwards she got an attitude again like I shouldn't be asking any questions and told me that I could drive home with no problem. Every time I would ask a question she would huff, cut me off mid sentence and then follow up with "that's a question for the doctor" again with an attitude. After she dilated my eyes she took me to the room where it's dark and you wait to see the doctor. I literally could not see anything and it made me incredibly dizzy. She did not tell me it would make my vision super blurry. Another tech named Emerald came to get me and I was so upset by the way I was treated I asked her what the first tech's name was that I had just seen as I missed her name- and she looks at me and says- "My name is Emerald" and I asked her what the other tech's name was a second time and she responded "Oh the other girl's name?- Oh I don't know what her name is?" and then she walked out of the room and around the corner where Kim was and very loudly said "she just asked for your name" and they both started laughing. You could clearly hear everything they were saying. Dr Rahman himself is very kind and explained they would only ever have to dilate my eyes one time on my first visit. After leaving there I came in and spoke with their front desk 2 days later because I was so upset about the way Kim had treated me. A manager had reached out to me and left me a voicemail in which I called back and asked to speak with her and she never called me back or followed up with me after that. I then came in for my follow up appointment and had made sure before I came in that Kim would not be the tech assisting me. This tech this time was also rude and it felt like it was because I made a complaint. She went to put the eye numbing drops in my eyes and when I hesitated because I didn't understand why they have to do that- she threw her hands up and rudely goes "What!?-do you not want me to do it!?" I left the 2nd half of this review and my experience on the Stapley office's reviews on Google and Yelp due to it being so long where you can further read as it continues to get worse. read more

I had cataract surgery done through SEC. My experience in the clinic and most of the surgical experience were both great. The only issue was that the surgical staff did not call my ride to come pick me up, which was promised and confirmed several times. Fortunately, I contacted the person myself as soon as I was returned to the waiting room. So - I knocked it down to a 4 rating and have to say that I was disappointed. They made a big deal of having a ride home and then didn't do their part. read more

Dr Sherlock is the best Optometrist I have ever had. Don't believe ANY negative reviews. He is kind, considerate, super intelligent and knowledgeable. I have been going to him for 20 years. As I age and struggle with Diabetes I have been guided with superior care and a ton of love. Not just from the Doctor but his complete staff! He hires nothing but the most caring, educated staff to assist him. I walk in the door and am made to feel I've come home and am super important to them. Doctor Sherlock talks completely to you...eye to eye. In my 20 years with him I have grown to sincerely love everyone I have come in contact with under his care. Stay away the pitifully few of you that share untruths about him or his practice...it just gives those of us who love SW Eye more time to be with every one of the doctors and staff. read more

Southwestern took over Guy McDougal's practice after he retired a few years ago. Now they push you through like an assembly line, and they have an unlicensed assistant do half the eye exam before the optometrist even shows up. My prescription seemed to be getting less accurate each year. 2023's prescription was somewhat off, and in 2024, it was even worse and I pointed out during the exam that I wasn't seeing clearly. Dr. Trinh brushed off my concerns and left the room and that was that. My glasses ended up being unusable (this was not a manufacturing error), and I went back to my older glasses. This year I went to a new optometrist who took his time and got things right. During the exam he pointed out that my correct prescription was substantially different from Southwestern's, and when my new glasses came in yesterday, it was a world of difference. This review was two years in the making, and I waited until I had new glasses from another doctor before writing it. Southwestern seems to be putting profits over quality, and I can't recommend them. read more

I was recommended by my Primary eye doctor to have an ingrown eyelashes correction surgery done in order to prevent further damages to my eyes. The first time I met my surgeon Dr. Angela Perry, I was impressed with her genuine kindness. She did some exams and asked me several questions. And before I left the examine room, she handed me a piece of paper with her personal telephone number on it and asked me to call her any time when I have a question before the surgery. I was stunned! Ture to her promise, when I texted her the first time, she responded a couple minutes later! I didn't want to bother her because I realized that she could be with a patient or in the middle of a surgery. But I realized that it seems to her that any questions from any of her patients are truly important and urgent to that individual patient. And she has always managed to respond to them as promptly as she could, before OR after the surgery. My surgery is a great success. I don't have to suffer painful eye irritation 24 hours a day anymore. Thanks to Dr. Perry! My most memorable experience is the feeling that I have knowing that my doctor really cares, and that she would do anything to help me. That feeling is priceless! read more

Back again for another review. Do not order your contacts here and if you do be prepared to wait FOREVER to pick them up when they are ready. Their process is ridiculous. It should take no longer than 2 minutes to hand me a back with my contacts. However, if someone else is there after their eye appointment and they want to pick out glasses and order contacts then you will be waiting behind them to simply pickup your contacts. Never ordering them here again and never returning for an eye appointment. read more

Great doctors but the staff members are not helping them out at all. If you like to waste your time holding for them to answer your call for 20 minutes and more go for it. Their automated system allows your to take your name and number to put you inline for call back but they don't. You also can get on their patient portal but after three times and no communication I am looking for another doctor. Hopefully their office manager sees this to follow up. Good doctors and busy practice but there's issues people. Good luck to established and to future new patients. read more

I had an appointment last week for an eye exam. The first associate to help me was Beth. She was very very kind, sweet and light hearted! She was very warm and pleasant to talk to. The optometrist was Dr. Sherlock who was also very kind. They seem to be very busy, which is a good and bad thing. Good because it means that people enjoy using them as their optometrist but bad if you are in any kind of a hurry. They give you a paper print out of your prescription as well which is super helpful especially if you do not want to purchase glasses from their optical center. read more

Dr. John Lewis is great! Very professional, good explanation of what is going on with my eyes, very please with him and his assistant! I gave 4 stars Instead of 5 because of their appointment center, they took a whole month to even set the appointment for me and then I have to wait another 3 weeks for the actual visit.When you go there are 3 ladies behind the counter and when you getting closer they tell you to check yourself in to a scanner they have on the side and they continue sitting there, 40 minutes passed by and nothing, I have to go and asked when they planning to call me,then they went to find out. I recently was outsourced to this location from the VA due to the extreme back log of appointments at the VA. I was extremely glad that I was referred here! They were extremely professional, service oriented, and easy to work with as a patient. Waiting Area: So, this office is right next to Falcon Airfield, which means the buildings are a little bit older. This office doesn't have the most up to date, or comfortable seating arrangement. You should arrive early to fill out the paperwork. Doctor/Tech/Appointment: I went in due to a different provider stating I had vision less than 20/35. I'm glad I got this second opinion. My tech was the wonderful Beth, and we talked and talked. I loved how friendly she was towards me, really made me feel comfortable. Dr.Bluth was my provider, and was really easy to speak with. He didn't understand why I was told I had bad eyesight when I had 20/15 in the right and 20/30 in the left. Overall: This office is really great, they are fast, efficient and would recommend anyone I know to come to this location for their optical needs. If I ever need to see another provider, I will make sure to come here first! read more

*UPDATE: After writing my review, I was contacted two days later (after emailing them as instructed the day of), and was told they would take care of it and would call me back. They did about 30 minutes later saying that as I was told many times before that my payment just wasn't transferred over into the system and that it wasn't an excuse simply what happened. I was told that it was taken care of and they would be contacting the collections company to reverse it, and by the end of the day I'd have a statement showing a zero balance. Well, I never received that statement, so truthfully I don't have confidence that the problem was taken care of at all.* Don't ever go here unless you want to deal with nothing but issues with billing!!! I paid IN FULL with receipt to prove it the day of service. Months later I received a bill. I called and was assured after I sent them my receipt via email, that they would take care of it. This happened 4 times before I finally got furious and requested to speak to a manager instead of being bounced around and promise false things. The last person I spoke with told me that due to covid their staff and the person that needed to handle it wasn't in and they would make sure it got taken care of. She also assured me that she would put a note in not to send me anymore bills because I paid already. I even said okay but this won't be sent to collections if it isn't handled without bills will it? She said oh no definitely not. We are now a year and 2 months out from my daughters appointment and I just got a collections bill in the mail! Oh my goodness!!! Stay away from this place! This is my 3rd time at this location. I keep on thinking give them one more time. I am done! Every time I have been here it is at least a 30 minute wait to get back in the exam room...even though you are on time for your appointment. My first time here they told me I did not have an appointment...my bad...but the appointment I missed they never sent me a reminder. The facility is extremely run down. They cater to old people and because you have to wait so long people in the waiting room are angry. Oh yeah...the waiting room is horrible, super small and since you have to so long for your appointment super crowded. read more

Had an appointment today July 29, 2021 for contact Rx and glasses Rx. Was told at the front desk I would be responsible for $50 that insurance doesn't cover. 1/2 hour late. I can just about tolerate that. I had filled their online questionnaire which is about 5 miles long. In it, I agreed to a $52 charge for refraction for glasses. Taken to the back for another 15 minutes of questions. Then wait for the MD. Spent about 20 min with the MD. The usual "which is better, 1 or 2" stuff and "what's the last line can you read". Looked in my eyes. Wrote the Rx. I asked if they give out a trial pair of contacts. Nope. I have NEVER been to an OD who didn't have trial contacts. THEN... get to the desk to pay. That'll be $100. Was told it was for a contact lens fitting. I told her that I was told I would be responsible for 50. She said, "who told you that" and I told her the desk AND the online questionnaire I filled out. She then said (in a kinda snarky manner) "Oh, contact lens fittings can go up to $500). I paid. Will NEVER go back to Southwest Eye. I got better service and paid less WITHOUT insurance at Target Optical. Bottom line. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. PS. My "emotional support human" (cuz they wouldn't let her in if she wasn't) went to the ladies room and, as she puts it, the biggest cockroach she's ever seen is hanging out in there. read more

I would not recommend this place. I ordered my glasses on 12/22/2020. It's now 1/19/2021. I still have not received my glasses. I called and it seemed as though the person on the other end of the phone was implying that not call them, they would call me. I spent over $258 for these glasses. I will call everyday! It's been close to a month now. Go somewhere else. read more

My appointment was at 10am. I got here at 954 to fill out paperwork - they already had my information from when I called to make the appointment. I sat down and started waiting... And waiting... And waiting. I don't appreciate having to sit in a waiting room for 30 minutes for an appointment especially when the office only opened a little while ago. I then saw the tech and was sent to ANOTHER waiting room. When I asked if they typically run late, they said it depends which sounds closer to a yes than a no. If you value your time, I'd look elsewhere. Once you get on though, the tech and the doctor were helpful. I just wish they were forthcoming with their delay. (A lady sitting next to me has been here an hour and still hasn't seen the doctor.) Dr. Sherlock was really nice and seemed knowledgeable - great for serious vision problems, but for routine visits maybe go elsewhere. read more

I have been using this facility or should I say this company for as long as we have been in Arizona. And the treatment we got on Wednesday was beyond what we could have ever imagined. They took care of my husband and myself with the greatest of care and ease. My husband being a little anxious was in a way that the representative that helped us knew what he needed and she made sure that he was comfortable and comforted.
