My first visit to Family Tree Eye Care was encourage by my daughter who takes my younger grandson for his exams and glasses. My examination by Dr Yamamoto was a sight changer it was determined I needed a cataract evolution. I was referred to Q Vision where I did qualify for both eyes to have cataract surgery. I had the surgeries completed if it wasn't for Dr Yamamoto's finding the cataracts I would still be seeing bright white as a dingy cream along with every colored dark and dull . The surgery corrected my nearsightedness I had. Thank you so much Dr Yamamoto for leading me to a beautiful bright world of color. Teri B

Disclaimer: this is my forst ever experience with an eye doctor for an eye exam!! Found Family Tree Eye Care through my insurance provider. Next I search here on yelp for reviews. After reading the ratings and reviews I called to make an appointment. I was able to get in the same day due to cancellations. Front office: friendly ladies that greeted and checked me in promptly! One of the ladies did the initial testings and fitting i guess (sorry can't remember what she said ‍) . Everything she did she explained (what she doing, what i need to do and what it's for) Office: bright, clean and very welcoming! Dr . Yamamoto had excellent chair side manners He was very professional and thorough and explained everything he was going to do and what it's for! He really made me feel at ease with the whole eye test including the last test (refraction i think) He knows eyes and had gave me lots of information on what's going on with my eyes and how to help me see better. He also encouraged questions. Overall: I highly recommend Dr. Yamamoto and his office! They seem to genuinely like seeing their patients and takes their time with each one. I never felt rushed. Bonus: before you even walk in the door mat says e ko mo mai (welcome in Hawaiian) Dr. Yamamoto picked up on my lingering "Hawaii" accent and asked if I was from the islands! Ofcourse I said yes! He grew up in Oahu! Brah! Now let's share some Aloha!

My husband needed to get glasses and so we came in yesterday around 2:30 PM. There was a man sitting at his desk (literally right when you walk in) bent down rubbing his leg and looked like he was in absolute agony! My husband told him what he was looking for and this man made no effort to communicate or attempt to help us as again he really looked like he was struggling & should have not been in any shape to come to work. As we were looking around there was just one other staff member at her desk (Michelle) already helping another customer. We browsed at frames and I told my husband I was extremely uncomfortable with this man as by this point he was literally laying his head down on the table (see video). It was a shame and sad, but also unprofessional and very concerning! There were a few employees in the back office area so I approached them with our concerns & they said they had gotten numerous complaints already? What? Why didn't he get sent home and how many customers walked out?! We asked if someone else could assist us and Michelle was just finishing up, so she was able to get everything we needed and her customer service was excellent! She saved the day for this review! Michelle was knowledgeable, patient, friendly and kind. She helped get my husband exactly what he needed and gave additional advice for his eyewear. To the management staff. You should not have an employee come in, work, be at his desk in misery! This isn't a good look for your business, how can you even have someone come in to work that can't even function? Advise- this man should get the help he needs and return when he is healthy or go on disability pay until he is stable enough to come back to work.

As I was checking in, an unfriendly front office staff member asked whether I wanted the $39 retinal scan with my eye exam. I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer.
