We had been wanting to visit this lil restaurant since we moved here in April, and had the chance to go with some friends to celebrate a birthday. I'm not going to talk too much about the food because I would have to cut my stars down even further, but suffice to say, it's not a place I think we will come back to. I was impressed, however by the loyal regulars who come in and sit at the bar. They were a happy crowd being serviced by their loyal folks in a very "feel like family way", and that earned this lil place that didn't do it for me an extra star. Service was slow, and our young server seemed a bit "out of it", not very engaging, but hustling like a pro - bless his soul. Beverage crafting was a bit off, but things eventually made it to the table. In general, the food was edible, but nothing to write about - temperature instabilities, overcooked and rubbery scallops, some things were cold others were salty - just a bit all over the map. BUT portions are huge and great for splitting, which they did, their salads are good and not over dressed and if you ask for a variation on your dish (e.g. no pasta sub for veg.), they will gladly accommodate. This italo american joint is FAR from Tuscan cuisine, but it is loved by its locals and that is kudos for the place. One thing is to get them through the door, another is to keep them coming. I'm glad we tried it! And our company couldn't have been better. But as with Volaggio, I came, I tried, and I'll say good bye unless we are attending with friends that want to visit, we will know how to order to get a better experience. read more

Thank you, Allison for the amazing service tonight. My husband and I met friends for a six o'clock dinner. (We had reservations and did not need to wait at all). The lobster bisque was a genuine hit as was the scallops appetizer. I ordered the Lobster ravioli and was not disappointed! It was magnificent. Pillowy lobster sections inside perfectly cooked (slightly al dente ravioli). The portions were definitely on the larger side. We sampled three deserts, including key lime pie. Barnstable Tuscan Cuisine is my favorite restaurant on Cape Cod! All of the appetizers I have had were delicious. I have a weakness for oysters on the half shell and they are fresh and scrumptious! The mussels in a white wine broth are enough for 2 to 3 of us. We agree they are the best we've had. The menu has a variety of excellent choices of seafood, chicken and beef and are prepared when ordered. Tuscan makes their own linguine pasta! It we can fit it in, we have one of their delicious desserts or split one or two. Quality and quantity are top notch! Ambiance is cozy and roomy and the wait staff are top notch! read more

A friend and I decided to try this place on an off night, Thursday night in December. I have to confess that I loved the previous Barnstable Tavern meals, but those memories are now long distant. The current renovation is updated, the new bar area is attractive and our dining booth was cozy and comfortable. Our server, MiYu, was courteous, knowledgeable about the menu and the wine choices, attentive, friendly, and my favorite description, she was so nice. We had such an amazing dinner at the Tuscan Cuisine in Barnstable last night! Our waiter Freddie was so accommodating and friendly and all of our requests were speedily accomplished. The atmosphere outside under the nearly full moon was both romantic and lively. This is a follow-up review from a couple weeks ago. I increased the rating, because the food was consistent, and we had a wider variety to "judge". Most of the diners were outside on the patio, but we chose to sit indoors. Before, I couldn't see an Amaro in the tavern bar, so this time I asked. Yes; they brought over two of their Amari to choose, (and even though not my standard Averna) I chose one to make a Black Manhattan. Good enough. My wife and I split a Caesar salad - even the split portions were large. Once again I had the chicken saltimbocca; the flavor was consistent from before (still no sage), but it seemed to be a larger portion so I had take-home. The table loved their fried calamari and baked oysters. My wife devoured the lamb Osso Bucco. Our visitors had a delicious lobster and shrimp saffron over fresh linguine and a shrimp and lobster limoncello (needed more oomph...). I've increased my rating due to food consistency, and for having Amari... a telltale sign of a good Italian restaurant. I said I'd have to visit a second or third time; now I'm going to have to visit a third time (and try something different.) read more

This restaurant has been a favorite and I've eaten dinner there often ... 6 times in the last 5 weeks. It was a go to when I wanted a place to take friends, often spending upwards of $200+ with drinks and meals. In these times, I also make sure to tip generously. Now ... the draw for me was always the dollar oysters when you bought a drink from 4 -5. I'd order the oysters and have a glass of wine before ordering dinner. I went today and the oyster special is no longer offered. They are now 6 oysters for $14.95! (I bought oysters for $1.25 each at the local fish market in Forestdale on Tuesday.) With so many other choices nearby, it's unfortunate that they've done away with this feature. If it returns, so will I but today they lost my business. read more

I drove 7 miles to have dinner here. During Corona it's not easy to host all the customers but this restaurant does it with class. Under a quality tent with cool lightning and a great garden. I had Rosa as a server and she was great in helping me decide my dinner, and her service was so on point. I had the grapefruit martini and it was delicious. The homemade macaroni was so firm and yet supple and their sauce was very good. I had a slice of lemon cake, and that was so incredibly light. read more

This is hands down the worst restaurant experience I've had at cape cod. I don't even know where to start. We ordered two burgers that came cold and when we bit into them there was either bones or stones in the burger. The flatbread came cold and the tomatoes we're rotten. Even the mozzarella sticks where burnt to a crisp and seemed to have come out from the freezer. My niece ordered penne pasta and she ended up getting spaghetti. Are you order the cocktail named patio painkiller and even though that seemed to be just sugar and water. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This spot is incredibly disappointing. We had dinner reservations and our grandfather (86 years old) arrived early to sit outside, have a drink and an appetizer while he waited. There was a sign outside that read "oysters $1, 4-5pm". It was 4:15pm. Our server told him, when he ordered a dozen oysters, he was "not allowed to order a dozen" and that the limit was 6 (?!?). It was rude to anyone but especially to a senior citizen. The advertisement is clearly misleading (and the sign is still outside every day, for the record). On top of this, the dining experience, food and atmosphere are moderate at best. With the Dolphin and so many other great spots right up the street/locally, I would advise Barnstable Tavern to 1) be more customer friendly! 2) take that misleading sign down because you aren't actually offering $1 oysters! 3) up your game because you're not the only game in town. read more

Disappointing lunch today. I ordered the Tuscan Caprese salad. It was advertised as eggplant, mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto and balsamic. I wrongly assumed there would be lettuce under the components but it was just the vegetables and cheese with a small amount pesto and balsamic. I had to ask for olive oil to enhance the dish. The eggplant was cold and bland....I thought it would be marinated. I strongly suggest the chef revisit the recipe for this. My husband did have good steamed mussels but we had to ask for bread to go with it. Our friend had clam chowder which he felt had too much thickener. His Caesar salad with added shrimp was just ok. read more

We've been to Tuscan a couple times and enjoy it much more than we did when it was the Tavern. We took our 2 year old both times and the staff was extremely accommodating. The booths are very large which makes dining more enjoyable as you aren't sitting arm to arm with the others in your dining party. Is the food 5 star no, but it is very good for what it is, this isn't a fine dining establishment so expectations should reflect. I do agree that prices should be reevaluated but that won't deter us from visiting occasionally. Very disappointed by the lack of effort. We ordered two items for take out: salmon and arugula salad. The items were ready in 15 minutes which was great. The salmon was fine - came with steamed broccoli and potatoes. The salad was a meager effort - it was a bunch of arugula, 2 cherry tomatoes sliced, 6 dried cranberries, a dusting of goat cheese, and a few pecans. What a charming well hidden spot to go for a fine dinner. The night was cold, restaurant warm, cozy yet empty. We were delighted with the menu choices, quality of service and excellence of the dishes. The ambiance was inviting, clean, comfortable and the menus varied and complete. So many choices made decision making a challenge. I settled on the prix fixe (4-5 pm) which was simply perfect. A Cesar salad, bolognese (perfectly done with homemade pasta) followed by panne cotta. Portions were perfect. My husband had the ginger scallops, done to a succulent delicious entree. Our friends enjoyed steak tips and a caprese salad. Allison, our waitress, could not have been more attentive. Kudos to the entire staff. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. read more

Great spot to grab a meal on the outdoor patio after a day at the beach. Always a good location in Barnstable Village to meet up with family or friends. I've had hit or miss here in the Cape in times of Covid. Yesterday my son got sick from eating at a place. This was a refreshing contrast to that! The bolognese was exceptional, and the portions are great. It's a very comfortable and refreshing amount given and dishes are presented elegantly. I'd recommend this to anyone any day. Where do I start.. We visited for the second time in 2 months, and I didn't think it could get any better. There were 5 of us. The crab cakes are always going to be a go to, and the calamari in a crazy good vodka cream sauce that we found ourselves dragging the warm table bread with was out of this world. My wife got the beet and apple salad w/ chicken, while the other three dishes where stuffed lobster tail w/ seafood stuffing (on special), shrimp and lobster saffron, and a scallop dish w/ angel hair in a creamy sauce. Finally I took a shot at the steak tips... I have finally found what I feel are the best tips on the cape. I made everyone try some because I couldn't believe the tenderness and the flavor. Almost felt like a coke, orange juice based marinade that you almost could cut w/ your fork. Still thinking about them. Sat at the bar for dinner, first time here. Very friendly atmosphere, great bartender.Clearly a favorite with locals. Caesar salad was good (unremarkable). Entree was a crispy duck special which was delicious. Had the homemade tirimasu for dessert-- very light, just right after a heavy meal. Several people at the bar ordered the linguine with clams, and the scent of garlic filled the air as they went by. Had to wait quite a while for salad, which is why 4 stars not 5. Prices reasonable. The one dollar oysters are limited to six per person and you have to buy a starter or a cocktail. This was explained to us by an extremely unfriendly waitress who appeared to take umbrage at our even asking what the deal was. She was so unfriendly it was almost comical, but not quite. read more

I couldn't agree more with Kate N.'s review below. The "1$ oysters" from 4-5 pm advertised all over Main Street are basically a scam. You can only order six, and then only if you order an expensive cocktail. If the idea is to get people to fill the restaurant at an off hour, wouldn't it be smart to actually offer a deal and not a trick? On top of this, the waitress seems to have forgotten to smile and be friendly to customers. I won't be going back with so many other places to choose from. Very beautiful patio atmosphere, food was delicious we tried the pesto clams pasta it was really light tasty sauce nothing heavy, the ginger scallops were outstanding. Let me start off by saying our server was fantastic. If I was only rating Ashley it would be five stars. Our plan was to sit outside for drinks and apps and listen to music, then go inside for dinner. Mainly because music was 4-6 and we didn't want to eat that early. The "Manager" insisted that he had dinner reservations for the outside and we couldn't sit there. This was not true. Eventually he begrudgingly let us sit down. We did end up spending four hours eating and drinking and enjoying the pleasant evening. Notably the patio never filled up. The "Manager " is a detriment to this restaurant. read more
