We told her our likes and dislikes and in under 5 minutes she suggested about a 1/2 dozen properties they book for (they have listings for over 200). After we reviewed the suggested properties, we certainly had a preference for which one we would like to stay at (the Fawkwerk Cottage at Haussegen Log Haus). Booked and done! And, I must add this was a last minute trip. We called about 2 days prior to our desired arrival date and Carren was more than eager to accommodate us. We loved the Cottage and our "hosts" (please see separate review) so much that we decided to stay an extra night. One call to Carren. Booked and done again! GREAT customer service from Carren and all of the other staff we interacted with! They were all so helpful, friendly, and a hoot to boot!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL OF YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS WHEN VISITING FREDERICKSBURG, TX!!! Have to add the following to the overall review: On the FCLRS website, they offer "Romance Packages" that you can add on to any lodging stay. We discovered this while we were on the initial phone call with Carren during booking. So, the "fun" between my husband and I and FCLRS began very early into our first experience of Fredericksburg. A necessary explanation: There are 3 different package prices ranging from $39.95-$59.95 that offer a variety of items to enhance your stay; chocolates or roses perhaps...or Easy Cheese (Midnight Package) and 1-time use camera (in the Snuggle Package). hahaha! I am NOT kidding! My husband arranged to have flowers waiting for me at the cottage, the owner/manager was so great to work with. The communication was stellar. As we arrived at the cottage, there were dear just hanging around. We opened the door to the cottage and it really was just so beautiful. We were able to enjoy the tranquil surrounding, it was just so peaceful. The jacuzzi over looking the landscape was such a wonderful bonus at added to the perfect night. The second night, was a cold evening so we sat by the fireplace, watched a movie, and had a glass of wine. The cabin was 15 mins away from down town Fredericksburg so we visited several of the wineries. It was an amazing anniversary.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather not stay in a hotel room all weekend since that doesn't feel better than staying home. That's what led us to The Gathering. We came upon their listing via a post on Instagram about interesting places to stay around Austin, or within a short drive. I fell in love with the decor and the privacy! The Gathering is a collection of cottages or houses that each have their own style and although the houses are close to each other, they share no common walls, and each has a private outdoor area, and hot tub, in addition to delightful homey touches. There is a kitchenette for meals, but no stove or oven, but we found November the perfect time to make sausage dogs over the fire pit. We toasted s'mores and sipped champagne, spent time relaxing in the hot tub, and even rinsed off in the outdoor shower. By the time our stay was up, we were both wishing we had booked more nights! We stayed at the Hideaway house, which is the farthest property from the street and really enjoyed how alone we felt despite the adjacent houses also having guests. We enjoyed a game of basketball on the court across from our cottage and gathered pecans from the huge trees for a mid day snack. Deer were seen scampering across the back meadow and the gentle baas from the sheep nearby added to the bucolic scene. The only negative for me was that I found the mattress to be a bit firm for my tastes, but since that is purely a personal preference, I would not deduct stars for it. We will definitely book another stay, soon! Thanks for the Texas hospitality!

We stayed at the Hideaway and absolutely loved our experience! It's super cozy, private and quiet…read moredespite being so close to the other properties. Check in was easy, we had no problems getting in. Property managers are communicative if you need anything but also give you complete privacy if you wish. There is free uncovered parking, park on the quiet street out front and there's a small, short path that leads you to all the different properties. The area is off the main streets of town to afford you comfort and quiet, but also close enough to get to everything easily via a short car or bike ride. I appreciated all the little modern, homey details of this place. A couple things of note: Wifi is very spotty so don't count on that if you need it for anything. It wasn't a big deal to us because we were there to relax and disconnect anyway. Not sure if it had anything to do with the Hideaway being the last property farthest from the entrance. If you want to use the fire pit, bring your own fire wood. Though there is a starter log provided and a gas fireplace available. Lots of shampoo and body wash provided but bring your own conditioner if you wish - only a hotel size tube available in the bathroom. Walgreens and HEB/Walmart are very close by if you need anything! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

We hit the wine road towards Fredericksburg and after seven wineries, 42 tastings, and six bottles later, he brought me to the most adorable place I've ever stayed at: Carriage House. In case you're wondering, it was just as adorable the next day when I was more sober (my photos don't do the place justice). The outside of the main house was pretty, but no, we weren't staying in the main house- he did better than that. Off to the side of the main house was a little cottage standing by itself. "EEEEE, we're staying in there?!" my tipsy self gushed. The girly squeals only intensified after I saw the interior of the cottage. Hubs had outdone himself. A few tips for first timers: Dogs under 30lbs are allowed to stay for an extra $10/night. You have your very own private parking spot that is literally right next to the cottage. Once parked, you will find a little gate about a yard in front of your car; the gate leads right to the front of the cottage. In addition to the usuals that are provided at a hotel, the cottage is also supplied with dishes, silverware, and wine openers. Just check the drawers around the kitchen sink. Towels and extra toiletries are located under the bathroom sinks, and there is a step stool located underneath the (very high) bed. If you're short, use it. If you've been drinking wine all day, use it. When in doubt, use it. You're not actually served breakfast in bed here. Instead, you're given $10 vouchers (one for each guest) that can be used at several popular brunch spots in Fredericksburg. If Carriage House had a cheesy slogan, I would imagine it to be something along the lines of, "Carriage House: Drink Wine and Fall in Love." So friends, drink wine, fall in love, and check this place out. But don't try to book on my birthday weekend. Because it'll be mine.

Do not book through their website or another like hotels.com without first calling the hotel's phone number at (830) 997-3330 and confirming with someone they are back open and accepting reservations! What an awful experience it would be to arrive and find you have no place to stay! As I said, we have lovely memories of coming here. My husband and I first visited in the summer of 2002 and last visited in the winter of 2010. We stayed there a few times and our families stayed there once while we were planning our wedding in the area. It's an extremely reasonable price, just on the outskirts of town so you can avoid a lot of tourist traffic and still get around, clean, quaint and best of all, they are pet friendly! It's the best way to keep cost of a visit to the area down, while still staying in a safe and clean area. However, I have to dock a star (would've been 2 but I decided on 1 in case it was out of managements control due to health issues) because of the poor communication that is affecting others. We were in Fredericksburg for our anniversary at the end of August 2020. We were driving around, nostalgically stopping at places we used to visit and pulled in here. The place reflects they've been closed for months, especially with the covered pool and the gazebo that needs a power washing. It was sad to see, but not as sad as going to google to find out if it was a permanent or temporary closure and finding that there were several reviews of people booking rooms and showing up to a closed location! Unacceptable! Your website should reflect the closure on the first page and hopefully an ETA for reopening, but at least a message about the closure- those poor would be guests! I genuinely hope they reopen again in the future and if they do, they are worth a visit because Fredericksburg has continued to increase prices at all other accommodations, including RV parks, restaurants and shops and this is really the best way to reduce the cost of your trip.
