Attempted to eat dinner with spouse and 3 kids on 4/6/2024. Arrived around 5:30, 45 minute wait. We were seated around 50 minutes. Ordered 2 sodas, 1 burger and okra, 1 chicken wrap with a side, 3 kids meals. Waited over 2 hours for food. Around 8:30 pm, 3 hours after arrival, told host to please ask server to make food to go, as kids waiting 3 hours becomes difficult. A different server brings bill totaling $96. Takes an additional 25 minutes to get food. Left parking lot at 9pm, 3.5 hours after arrival. Open boxes in hotel room at 9:15. Most of the food was inedible. Kids cheeseburger is rare and bloody. Okra is full of fiberous bits that were inedible. Chicken wrap is not a wrap, contents spilling everywhere from lack of care making it. Felt like we were owed a refund from horrible experience. Cannot in good conscience recommend any family to eat here. read more

Ok have been here several times and it is our go to when we are in a pinch and other places are crowded. Now for some of you don't read between the lines. The food (gourmet burgers) are great. I have had the fried egg burger each time with a craft beer and onion rings. Each time the meal is good. Almost hate to post a review because it could get more crowded but whatever. As far as the food ambiance and parking go the place earns five stars. Deducted one star for slower (not slow) service. Room for some improvement Now I am not vain enough to thinkk my review will cause hords of beer drinking carnavours to line up in the streets for a meal. Thank god. Each time Red Robin is crowded we go here for a same priced meal, better beer and ambiance. Even though a few miles from home. I'm with my daughter on vacation in Virginia Beach and she randomly chose Barrel 17 for dinner. The place has a relaxed vibe with many interesting drinks and draft beers. Our waitress was Erin and she is the coolest. She brought me some samples of beer and they were all good. So it turns out the barrel theme had nothing to do with whiskey. On the flip side, they do really good burgers. They advertise it as Wagyu, but I'm not sure if I believe them. Of course, I wouldn't know it unless I saw it raw and in front of me first. Got the meatballs and fried mozzarella plus their Goat burger. The meatballs were really good. Kept in a little pot, the meatballs are quite large. A solid appetizer. The mozzarella discs were tasty enough, but they sort of melted into the breading. The burger was really good. Just enough complexity, a touch of sweetness, on a rather toasty bun. Definitely worth getting. Their regular side is Baked Kale though, which is a definite skip. It's just baked with no seasoning whatsoever... and I have no idea why anyone would want it. I tried it knowing it would suck, so I won't count it against them. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised. The whiskey collection is not that great though, but otherwise this is a place worth checking out. read more

The family and I had lunch here today, the fries were cold and rubbery the iced tea was foul very bad taste. I had a Hawaiian burger although cooked right the taste was terrible the pineapple tasted like paint thinner and was a tiny piece not a whole slice. The onion straws also had a foul taste and were burned. There was little if any teriyaki sauce on the burger and the bun was fair. The service left a bit to be desired as well. I would pass on this place unless you like bad food and so so service. read more

We had a very good lunch today . We started with a very tasty hot dog topped with fried pimento cheese . We then had some awesome locally made lumpia and the were cooked perfectly . Then my beast of a salad came to the table . I got the bacon double cheese burger minus the bun . They were more than willing to put it on a salad for me . The Barrel sauce is a must to dip everything in !!! Shoot I used it as my salad dressing . Great service and the owner ( a fellow Green Run Alumni ) even greeted us and visited our table . As others have written, their pricing is closer to premium than discount. Five Guys has the consistency thing down, and I hope this place gets there, too. Also ordered the sweet potato waffle fries, but received non-waffled fries. No one said we wouldn't get them as they appear in photos here. So a bit of a disappointment. They were real sweet potato, though, to their credit. My onion rings and their accompanying sauce were excellent. If they did these exactly as mine were today, I'd highly recommend them! I got the whiskey burger and it was very very good but I was very disappointed that it did not come with fries and that fries cost $2.99 instead of a smaller up charge since I didn't get fries kale. I suggest they start asking guests how they want their burger cooked. The waitress did not know a lot about the menu and kept saying she would have to ask someone else which was disappointing. We've been coming here for sometime. Today when we arrived we were so surprised to see how slow the restaurant was & happy to see that there were sets at the bar! What a Great Sunday find and surprise!! The wife and I constantly complain that we cannot find a good burger in Virginia Beach. Today we ventured out again in search of something new and worth while. I have to say I am not sure how we have not stumbled upon this place before, but we are glad we found it today. So it's kind of a small almost dive bar, but just a little too nice to be a true dive. After looking over the menu even as good as the Hotdogs sounded and looked on line we both went with a burge. I had fresh cut fries she had hers with the sweet potato fries. For starters he had the fried pimento cheese and pickles. Everything was spot on and perfect and truly enjoyable. Service was great and the place looks like it would be a fun place to hang out during happy hour. An accurate review of the restaurant isn't possible since I ordered via GrubHub. And as I've learned in any city I've gone to, at any time, no matter the distance of the restaurant (0.3 miles or 13 miles), there is only one truth that shall forever remain the same: your food will arrive cold af. This was true for my dish. Thankfully, it wasn't bad considered I ordered a salad but my fries were lukewarm at best and missing the crunch I desired. The salad on the other hand (something Thai or Asian) with blackened chicken was actually very tasty. It had the added addition of brussel sprouts which is a change of pace from the normal toppings. The salad dressing was also good albeit a bit thicker than I am used to. Fries, although cold were okay but I'd save these for ordering at the restaurant. Came in at around 2:30 and was told to sit our party of 4 ourselves. We sat there for about 5-10 minutes when a purple/red haired waitress finally came over with menus. She put the menus and did not wanna look us in the eyes, she kept twirling her hair and offered no information on the menu. I asked what type of drinks they had since it was happy hour & she said "Pepsi Products". Literally offered no other information to me or our party, she also told me to look on the chalkboard. So VA Beach proper is really stepping up their restaurant game in the last year. Moving in more food options that don't involve pizza and fries. Although I love both, I also like a little greenery from time to time. Barrel 17 was very good and the food super fresh. I had the burger with fries and salad. All were made fresh to order. Absolutely amazing when a customer can share the good and make any suggestions and an owner actually listens to feedback. That is called perfecting your craft. Went on a Wednesday night in August, had about a 10 minute wait, even for a table of 6. Drinks and food came out quickly. The jumbo pretzel was -well, jumbo, and was the perfect appetizer for 6. We got wings and burgers. Wings were great and definitely below market price. Their fries are fantastic. But the real star of the show was the black and blue burger. OMG best burger I've had at the beach, and top three I've EVER had. The blue cheese dressing is warm and the perfect texture, and the flavor of the grilled onions was on point. The burger was crispy on the edges and greasy and flavorful in the middle, just how I like it. This is a good place for families, and it's a casual ambiance. Good noise level- not so loud that you can't hear, but loud enough that no one noticed my toddler whining. Bathroom was clean but out of paper towels. Good beer selection. ok so in town visiting friends and omg... all i can say! we went for dinner about 6:30 on a friday night and no wait! and the food was really amazing! if i lived here, this is kinda my kind of place. good sandwiches (at least we all ordered sandwiches but for my 12 year-old daughter, who chose chicken tenders and tots!) and everything was good! service was great, atmosphere was nice! and while yes, at full capacity, amd yes, they were packed, nobody was right up on us! which was pretty nice, i cannot lie! oh and four blocks to the water, soooo... location location location!
