Staying at the Marriott for NYEs and was a little hungry, so I headed across the street to Arbuckle's for some wings. No way you could mess up wings right? WRONG! These were probably the worst buffalo wings I've ever had in my life. I'd rather eat wings from little Caesars. First they had no crispness and little to no buffalo sauce. Arbuckle's is at the new Embassy Suites over at the Cavalier complex. This is the least expensive hotel of the three so Arbuckle's is the least fancy I feel. Still, it's new, nice, and has a clean bar area and expansive windows. We've been eyeing it for a while bc they have a Gameday menu for football and sports games (only on Sunday) with cheap drinks and a few eats - burger for $8, nachos, tacos, etc. We met a few friends here for dinner at 6pm on a Saturday - parking here is bit of a challenge because there is only the garage attached to the Marriott and if there is a large event being hosted by the Cavalier hotel - you're probably out of luck bc they will turn you away. In this case, you have to basically find parking in a neighborhood nearby and walk - we now have a baby in a stroller so every trip I'm hoping there isn't an event. We were lucky and easily found parking. They don't do the Gameday menu on Saturday (although the college playoffs were happening) so we ordered from their normal menu and they do have a lot of options which is nice. Pasta, burgers, salads, etc. Our waitress was very busy - the lone bartender covering the bar and the bar seating (of which there are probably 25 seats) so she was very busy but she did a pretty good job all things considered and she was very sweet. We tried some burgers, a wedge add salmon, fries, and the loaded tots. Apps were out quickly but the burgers took forever. Burgers were a bit overcooked, the wedge didn't have fresh blue cheese and the dressing tasted like Hidden Valley from Kroger... not the best. The star of the show was the tots. I think a nice spot for drinks and apps but the entrees I can't recommend. read more

The excuse they gave us was that there was a large party that had arrived, and the kitchen couldn't handle additional load, even though they continued letting in parties of two and made our party of five wait it out. Dope spot, its part of the resort area where you and pop over to Marriott or Caviler. Hilton breakfasts always hit, but evening HH offering two free drinks was a hit. I got a bacon burger and it was legit. Bartenders were super nice. Coming here you should definitely get a room, multiple indoor and outdoor pools access. Night time vibes are poppin also. read more

Arbuckle's Bar & Grill is located inside the Embassy Suites across the street from the Cavalier Hotel along Atlantic Avenue. The GPS didn't give the right parking area. They don't have their own parking, so you'll need to park in the parking garage by the hotel. There is an hourly fee for parking there. My visit here was on January 24, 2025. I had seen several reviews all over that the place has been pretty good. This was during the 2025 Restaurant Week and so I figured this would be a good time to try them out with one of the items on that menu. There is an entrance across the drop off area from the parking garage. Once you go in, the restaurant is to the right and the hotel itself (Embassy Suites) is to the left. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is casual. There is room in there for larger parties too. However, it does tend to be noisy in there because of the way the building is designed. After a moment or so, a hostess came over and got us seated. However, it would take a good five to ten minutes for our server to finally come over. I think they were short staffed, as our server was also the only one working the bar that was further back. Once she came over, we were finally able to get something to drink. I did stick with water with lemon, while my mom went with Pepsi (now you know they have Pepsi products here). After she came back from the drinks, we were ready to order. We both went with the Restaurant Week Lunch menu. I went with the Tomato Bisque as the first course and "The Perfect Burger: The Mobley Cheeseburger" as the second course. My mom had the same second course, but she had the Garden Salad for the first course. It would take just a few minutes to have the first course come to the table. The second course would come about ten minutes after that. The tomato bisque was good, but it was just lukewarm in terms of temperature. My mom said the salad she had was good though. The timing was pretty good for when the second course came out since it wasn't too long after finishing the first course. The food looked good and our server left to go back to the bar area. The burger overall was okay, but it wasn't hot. I wonder if it was sitting for a while before coming to the table, which I had the same thought about the tomato bisque as well. The fries were okay, as they were lukewarm at best too. We would try to get a server to come over, but we were unsuccessful. When she was finally able to come back over, we were pretty much done with what we were eating. It would take another 10-15 minutes to get the check and such. Overall, this was not the experience I would have expected here based on other reviews and such I have seen. I do think a staff shortage is probably part of the issue, but it shouldn't affect the guest experience like it did for us on this visit. We never saw a manager come around either, which I normally find at most restaurants. Maybe this was an off day there, but I feel they should always be on their game. I don't plan to make a trip back very quickly. I live in the southern end of the city, so it's quite the trip just to get there, plus having to pay additional for parking. For now, I'll stick to some other local places for burgers and such. read more

I'm a big fan of Arbuckle's! I usually come here for burgers but I've enjoyed their oysters too, which have always been fresh and served with 2 types of sauce. I understand that they are locally sourced too! They've got great burger deals including lower prices during football games in the fall. They also have a free snack/happy hour in the late afternoon/early evening for folks staying at the hotel. The location is great too, right by the ocean and Marriott/Embassy Suites/Cavalier Hotel. I like the decor for the restaurant too, which has a bit of an old time feel with the dark wood and black and white pictures of famous people from the 20s. read more

We frequent Embassy Suites in Virginia Beach often since they opened, and we always make several visits to Article's Bar and Grill. The only reason this post isn't a 1star review is because of Christian and Tripp both went above and beyond with their customer service. They were kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They are a true asset behind the bar and know how to make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, we did have a very awkward and unpleasant encounter with another bartender (Lori) on two separate visits. We weren't the only ones who noticed, her attitude came across as rude and unhappy to be there, which made customers uncomfortable. The first time, we let it go because everyone can have an off day. But the second time, her energy was even worse. I did bring it up to a manager on site, and I truly hope it gets addressed because that type of experience can easily drive customers away. Aside from that, the wings were delicious, and the drinks that Christian and Tripp prepared were great. Until next time. we're hoping for a better experience overall. read more

The food he was ok. I wasn't completely blown away because my food arrived a little too cold for my liking. I was surprised that I even tried this entrée. I believe that if it was a little warmer, I would probably like it more. I think that's at the tone for my visit so I really wasn't too pleased. However the taste is there. The seasoning is exceptional. I just couldn't get over the cold food. The staff was very friendly however it was busy on this day so I really didn't wanna bother anyone. The ambience is OK. The restaurant could've used a little cleaning. But for the most part, it was somewhat enjoyable. I would definitely give this place another try hopefully with a warm plate of food. read more

Arbuckle's is definitely a good choice for group dining if you're staying at the Cavalier resort, especially with kids. It's American fare, so you'll see burgers/sandwiches and similar entrees on the menu. I went for dinner one day and got the risotto with a side of broccolini. My sibling had the chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries and enjoyed. I will say the portion size was huge though the risotto wasn't my favorite dish. I think the cheese threw me off. Deep down, I probably wanted fish and chips or the fried shrimp (which looked amazing) but perhaps another time. My sangria was fantastic, though! That was a 5 star for sure. If you're staying at the Embassy Suites, this is the hotel restaurant and their breakfast buffet is included! I actually was staying elsewhere but due to a fail at a nearby restaurant (sigh), we ended up at Arbuckles. The breakfast spread is pretty standard in that there's variety. Oatmeal,eggs (scrambled or made-to-order omelet station), pastries (similar to continental), waffle maker, etc. It reminds me of the layout in Hampton Inn (and yes I know all these are under the Hilton brand!) I would give 0 stars if I could. I tried for days to call to get a reservation, but could not get anyone to answer the phone. I tried to inquire online twice, and got no answers. I finally called again tonight to ask, they told me they were going to place me on hold so I could speak to manager (large group). The phone was just set down on the counter (I could still hear people talking in the background and equipment moving) and finally decided I had enough after waiting for 20 minutes. The staff was friendly and courteous but the food was somewhere between bad & awful for lunch today 12/23/2025. My grilled Chicken breast sandwich was somewhere between bad and extremely tough, it almost pulled my teeth out and her supposedly medium well hamburger was overdone and tough as leather. I'm not sure who they have in the kitchen but they must make a commitment to do better if they want an uptick in business. As a Hilton Honors Member we were sorely disappointed and dissatisfied. We came here for dinner and drinks not knowing much about the place but my wife did hear they had good burgers. As we walk in, you can feel a sense of relaxation with how things were setup. We got seated at first but then wanted to watch the event that was on tv and the only place you could do that was at the bar. That is probably the only real negative about the place which was the lack of TV's, the size of the ones they had and the limitations at the bar. Despite that, not all want a place that feels like a "sports bar" so I get it. It felt more like a hotel restaurant which...it was! The view at the bar was looking across at the Cavalier's activities in their lawn. The drinks were solid, bartender was cool/attentive and the food was awesome! I had the Salmon which was cooked to perfection as the wife felt the same for her chicken. My friend had their burger and I tell you, I really wanted to take a bit of it as it had that char smell and was so juicy. The food really surprised me as all three dishes could be a hit or miss at other establishments. In summary, if you want a spot that is a bit more low key, modern, and relaxing with some great food, this place won't disappoint. If you are looking for that "bar" type feel or loud and younger crowds, this may not be the place for you although you could still hang out and be very social. I took a group here yesterday and they were very attentive to us and with a large group they still moved rather quickly. It was a phone free meal so I couldn't grab photos, but we tried the buffacue wings, buffalo wings, crab dip, chicken Alfredo, crab cake, sirloin, fish and chips, and I'm probably missing more items. The crowd favorite was the crab dip by far. They made adjustments as needed and it was an overall great experience. We put in our orders and the drinks a long too long to come out. Most of us ordered burgers or sandwiches. We thought they were good but overpriced. They weren't special burgers too with crazy toppings. The chips and dip was my fave because it came with fresh homemade chips. The ambiance was nice tv's around and the hotel itself is really nice. We did come back here as hotel guests and during the morning this restaurant is where they serve the complementary breakfast which is fantastic. They seat you and you are welcome to get a plate and put your order in for an omelette which they will then bring to you at your table once it's ready. So for hotel guests coming here for breakfast is great but for dinner it can be really pricey for these burgers. read more

We stopped in for drinks one evening before dinner elsewhere and Shelby was working the bar. From the moment we walked up, she was very engaging and helpful. She talked us into a couple of cocktails, which she freshly muddled up for us and they were excellent! Her service and the drinks were so nice that we decided to order a bottle of wine and sit there a lot longer and enjoy that wine before dinner. This is a great spot for families specifically those with kids. They have a very basic kid menu that allows kids to have their classic favorites and the prices on the kids menu are very reasonable. They also have all types of burgers, but nothing to write home about. I asked for my burger to be a little pink and it came out well. It was a classic burger that was not seasoned and tested like the condiments that it came with. I thoroughly enjoyed my wedge salad which was extremely fresh and large. So we decided to give it a try for dinner. The menu is pretty simple American style food. Dessert options are limited. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. For appetizers We ordered lemon pepper wings. They were fresh and seasoned well. We also got the crab dip. Yum! It came with fresh pita bread for dipping. Before I begin, let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone! So with that being said let's go! My wife and I checked into the place we were staying and we didn't want to go back and get our vehicle just after the valet parked it. So we decided on a restaurant located right inside the establishment. We were kind of weary at first because some of the restaurants located inside hotel resorts are not that good food wise. But let me be the first to tell you, this restaurant knocked us down because we didn't have high expectations at all. We sat down not knowing we had to be seated but quickly realized the table we sat at was reserved. So we got up and asked to be seated at the same reserved table which was quite comfortable and cozy located in the corner of the restaurant conveniently positioned close to the bar, that is always a win in my book!. The waitress brought out menus and gave us a breakdown of the specials, once again we were skeptical about this choice. My wife ordered beef tacos and crab dip, and I ordered a burger ( once again the name escaped me, sorry about that )! But let me tell you when the waitress brought the food out, everything was well seasoned and tasted great! The crab dip was delicious as well as the beef tacos, not to mention the burger was flame broiled to perfection, it's been a while since I had a burger like that that I didn't make myself at home!. The food was amazing and the service was amazing as well, we will be returning before we check out!.
