    Cherry Limeade Cocktail

We happened upon this spot after while visiting in VAB for Labor Day weekend and WOW!!! The food was amazing! I ordered the Steak with a salad and Large pretzel for the road. My wife ordered a burger on a GF Bun with Fries and the Cherry Limeade Cocktail. Fantastic! My wife has Gluten intolerance so sometimes it's hard for us to find accommodations when we travel so this was very much appreciated and everything tasted so good. Hat's off to the Service, Chef, and staff here. All of the awards and accomplishments are the Real Deal and well-deserved! Highly Recommend, and if we're back around the area in the near or not to distant future, we will certainly be back. Thank you for the wonderful experience!!! -FROM JCARAL in PA

Chill place. Casual setting. Staff with personality and friendly regulars at the bar. Generous happy hour. Fried flounder sandwich checked all the boxes.

Erin, our server, was so cool, fun, and efficient. This was our second visit in almost as many days and didn't disappoint. The burgers here are so juicy! (Wagyu!) The fries are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and fresh, not frozen. The onion rings are unique and crispy. I really like this place!

Admittedly i don't go down to the Oceanfront often; at least not often enough to know when new things pop up. So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

Flavor Wins Again. But Service Could Use a Boost Back again at Barrel 17, and as always, the food did not disappoint! There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, so we decided to grab a margarita at the bar while waiting for our table a relaxing way to kick off the day. Once seated, we started with a couple of apps. The nachos with Wagyu beef are a personal favorite simple, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. Definitely one of my go-to starters here. We also tried the two cheese baked mac & cheese, which was pretty good creamy, warm, and comforting. For my main dish, I went with the Barrel 17 Burger -- a true winner every time. Made with Wagyu beef and topped with their signature barrel sauce, it's hands-down one of the best burgers around. I added a side of onion rings and used that same barrel sauce for dipping. Perfection. The only downside this visit was the slow service. It was a little busy, so I understand the pressure, but it seemed like they may have been understaffed. Our server was kind and doing their best, but the wait between drinks, apps, and mains was definitely noticeable. Still, Barrel 17 remains one of my favorite spots for burgers and chill bites. I'll absolutely be back -- especially for that burger and barrel sauce combo!

My friend and I decided to grab a bite to eat at Barrel 17 since their burgers are all the rave. We arrived a little before 6pm on a Saturday and since there was a small wait, we grabbed a drink at the bar until our table was ready. Since Happy Hour was going on until 6pm, we were hoping our drinks were included in Happy Hour but the Spicy Margarita that I chose unfortunately wasn't. We were able to be seated after about 10 minutes and were quickly greeted by our server. My friend mentioned how good the Wagyu Nachos were so we started with those and the 2-Cheese Baked Mac n' Cheese. The Beast Burger sounded amazing, it consisted of wagyu beef, elk, wild boar and bison with Swiss cheese and a garlic aioli so I decided on that. I also added bacon to mine as well. My friend ordered the Barrel Burger. The Wagyu Nachos were amazing! The Wagyu beef was seasoned perfectly and paired well with the queso and nachos. The Mac 'n Cheese was pretty good but it was very cheesy and could've used a bit more flavor. Unfortunately, when we received our burgers, our orders were completely wrong. Not only did the server give my friend The Beast (what I ordered) but it included veggies and no bacon. I was given my friend's burger, the Barrel, without veggies and bacon. I'm not sure if the server wrote our order wrong or if the cooks read it wrong. Either way, our server let us keep the burgers while she corrected the issue with the cooks. Once our server brought out our new burgers, they were finally correct. My burger was very good, especially when I added the Barrel sauce (definitely get the Barrel sauce)! My friend enjoyed her burger as well but she had to remind them of her onion rings, which our server had forgotten. Overall, I can definitely understand why this place is popular because the burgers are outstanding and I might be back if I'm in the area but be sure to check your order to be sure it's correct.

Decided to grab some burger & drinks during a weeknight, when there was finally no line! Promptly got seated and ordered a mango cider, golden ale, Wagyu Patty Melt + Pepper burger. Wish the beer list was a big longer, but gosh so many good burgers to try. The Pepper was definitely spicy and the Patty Melt blew me away! Probably the best one I've ever had. Tried the regular fries, which were also pretty decent. Topped everything with a new dessert, hot honey peach cheesecake. It was if an Amish peach pie and cheesecake had a baby, extremely yummy. I'll definitely have to come back for the other burgers & hotdogs!

In town for our daughters track meet, we decided on a whim to swing by Barrel 17 for something to eat. I got the specialty burger of the night, The Vibe Burger - cooked perfectly medium, with caramelized onions and fried mozzarella on top. It was delicious. I got a side of onion rings that were good as well and casually dipped them in their burger sauce. . Being greedy, I also ordered the Wagyu meatballs & fried mozzarella. From what I tasted, it was good, but I was so full off the burger that I couldn't enjoy it like I should've, nor could I come remotely close to finishing my meal. My daughter got chicken tenders & fries that she liked a lot, and my Wife got a steak salad that she raved about, not only because it was cooked at the perfect temperature, but because it came with so much steak, and was so filling. That on top of really good service from the bartender, who was attentive to our needs despite the crowd - they were very busy - I just didn't feel it because everyone from the wait staff, to the cooks, to the bartenders seemed to be working in unison. Did I mention my Wife left happy? Happy Wife, happy Jamar. 5 Stars.

The ambiance was nice, the open kitchen with the wood fire hearth right at the entrance added a warm cozy feel from the onset. The restaurant was warmly lit but not dark. We were seated immediately in the far left dining area in an elevated booth. After reviewing the menu we settled on the fried deviled eggs and wood fire oysters for starters and the Vincent Vega pizza for dinner. Fried deviled eggs was a first for us and it was so good! The egg white was breaded very lightly and fried and the egg yolk was piped on top with a piece of smoky delicious bacon goodness. It had a nice smoky, bacon-y taste and we devoured them. I only wish you got more than 2 pieces. I think 4 pieces would be better for the price considering it's essentially one egg but I'm not complaining. The wood fire oysters was another hit for us, the serving came with 6 half shell oysters topped with breadcrumbs (light), swimming in butter and fire roasted. I think we ate these even faster than the deviled eggs lol! Would definitely get these again. The pizza also did not disappoint. If you like bacon, mushrooms and creamy Boursin cheese, you'll love this pizza. We added crushed red pepper flakes which added a nice kick. The crust is the star of the show; thin, crispy but still has body and slightly chewy. Yum! That wood fire hearth definitely makes a difference. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back! The staff were also very nice and friendly.

The pickled garlic was an excellent addition to the board and the elk salami was fantastic. I had the steak sammy, which was a Sunday Special. It should be on the menu all the time. It was excellent. The fries were crisp and perfectly seasoned. My wife had the pork chop. It was perfectly cooked. Pork can be dry. This was not. Just well done and seasoned to perfection. My son had the steak sammy (like father like son) and his wife had the half chicken. It was all spectacular. So very good. For dessert we shared the cheesecake and the tiramisu bread pudding between the four of us. Everyone was happy. The portions were large so to go boxes were had by all. Special shoutout to Reagan our server. She was exceptional. Made the right recommendations on all things. Timed our orders perfectly and we had just an amazing time Thank you Hearth Wood Fired Cuisine and thank you Reagan for making my Father's day. Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV
