We came to the Barrel Bar and Grill to wait for our show at the Louisville Comedy Club to start. It's really great for the wait because it's attached. The food and service were both okay. My husband's fries didn't come out hot. The hummus plate came with veggies and chips, the chips were wet from the veggies. Found this spot late night on a Sunday and have to say it was my favorite bar of our holiday weekend. I enjoyed a Stagg pour for $20! That was a welcome sight, but the prices here were all over the place. I for one happened to benefit from that and got a great deal! We just popped in for a round of drinks. The "special" on the tent card was an Old Fashioned with some kind of Canadian whiskey. Some folks went with that, others ordered Old Fashioneds with mid-range call brands of bourbon. I ordered a rye Manhattan with well rye. The prices for the Old Fashioneds ranged from the "special" at $15 to call brands at $25. My well-rye Manhattan was $35. That was utterly ridiculous. On this particular Sunday night, my wife received a call that some of her old friends were in town enjoying the bourbon trail, and they asked us to join them for dinner and drinks. Once I had impressed my wife with my parallel parking skills, we happily walked in while hearing several voices calling my Wife's name. As my wife caught up; we reviewed the bourbon selection. They have all the standards. From Pappy's all the way down. My wife settled on Knob Creek 9, neat. Me, my eyes caught the mixed drink menu that listed a Cherry Old Fashion. So that is what I ordered. Ashley, our server was more than happy to fix our drinks and open a tab. After awhile and another round, it was decided that we were hungry. I ordered the buffalo boneless wings from the Appetizer side of the menu and my selected the Buffalo Chicken wrap. The wings were most excellent, as well as the Old Fashions and my wife enjoyed her wrap and fires. We stayed awhile longer as my wife enjoyed reminiscing. But at last, our time was up... Outstanding service. I actually came here twice today because Hell or High Water did us dirty. The bartender, Ashley, was actually still there nearly 12 hours later, and was just as bubbly and friendly as when I had initially come in earlier. The food is good--actually really good (my wings came out as i was writing this and they are no joke some of the best I've ever had. We went to the Old Forester thinking about going on a tour. We realized that we hadn't a proper breakfast so we decided to eat. The service was good. However the food was horrible. We had the bacon cheese burger, fries and onion rings. All horrible. the burger meat appeared to had been microwaved. The fries and onion rings were overly greasy.
