Barrel House was good. Tons of menu choices for all. Some have a better value then others. I had quesadillas which were very flavorful but it didn't come with a side ... quarter pound burger and fries would have cost the same. Chose wisely. Service was slow. Poor service! My husband asked for a beer to buy for a relative that was there with another friend (apart from his group) and the response the bartender gave was"you need it right away?" Strange response and yes he wanted it right away. Well the relative never received her beer!! It also was not very busy... the place less than half full!! After my husband's group of 5 group was seated and placed their food order, the waitress said it was busy and their order "may their take awhile", so they ordered a round of drinks. Those drinks never came so they did at least "comp" them for the drinks. After they ate, they went elsewhere for drinks! read more

We came in for Sunday brunch buffet which was delicious. The bottomless mimosa and bloody Mary's were a hit with our group. There is variety of mimosas to pick from and same with bloody Mary's. The buffet had omelette bar and most delicious hash browns. Our waitress was super on top of refills and extremely friendly. The owner even stopped b table thank us for coming in. Went here on a trip to Dubuque with my boyfriend. We both ordered burgers and they were very good about making mine keto(no bun and vegetables as side). Our burgers came out cold. Our waitress immediately had the kitchen make us new burgers, a Manager came to apologize and they knocked 50% off our bill. Great service. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dubuque! The service is great the food is awesome and it's an overall beautiful place to eat and have cocktails! The GM Mike is a super nice guy! My husband and I came to get dinner a few nights ago. We waited a very long time to get seated. We ordered some appetizers and it took over 35 minutes to get them. It took about an hour to get our food. When we did get the food our order was made incorrectly and I had a hair in my burger!! Our waitress Claudia, was very attentive and apologetic about the food being wrong and our food was discounted. When we go the bill, our order was rang in correctly, but it came out wrong? Phenomenal Sunday brunch! I think I'd be here a couple of times a month if I lived in Dubuque. Prime rib, made to order omelettes, plus a very flavorful spread including some of the best smoked bacon I've had in awhile. Our server, Marcel, and the omelette chef were great. This place needs more time and staff more training. First off we were given wrong beers. No big deal. Server brought a stout and an IPA, asked me which is a stout. Ah, young girl, you have some learning to do. We laughed. Next the correct beer is brought, no glass. Ok, ain't no thing, we have secured beer! Taking awhile for food, but we are cool we have beer! Went there with a group of 6 people. Drinks were tasty and the appetizers were pretty good. However, if you are expecting the pub burger to actually be a real burger you will be disappointed. Their pub burgers are about the size of a McDonald's hamburger. Also, the toppings are almost nonexistent. The bacon burger had 2 small pieces of bacon. The burger with Mac-n-cheese had a couple pieces of Mac-n-cheese, almost couldn't find any. We had decided to split the burgers before we realized how small they were. The waitress didn't warn us about how small they were, and when we complained she didn't seem to care at all. We had suggested that she should have warned us when we ordered them. Over all the service was terrible. No refills offered for the designated driver drinking soda. Very apathetic at best. Took forever to be served. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't really suggest this place to others. read more

CRAPPY RUDE BARTENDER!!! My wife and I stopped in for appetizers because we had been told that they were half price after 9:00. The bar wasn't terribly crowded and it seemed to have a nice atmosphere. We sat down at the bar and waited for the bartender to take our drink order. After some time she finally came over and asked us what we wanted. She acted as though she could really care less whether we were there or not. She grudgingly handed us menus and walked off. She finally returned to get our order and took our order without even looking at us. We had to "flag" her down to get anything and her answers were very kirt and short. My wife spoke to the manager to let her know that the bartender sucked and of course she defended her by saying she was understaffed, overworked, had a long day, blah blah blah. Afterward the bartender did finally decide to speak to my wife by chastising her for speaking to the manager instead of her. WELL WE HAD BEEN TRYING TO GET HER TO SPEAK TO US FOR OVER AN HOUR AND SHE ALL BUT REFUSED. After losing our reservation we waited about 25 minutes. No apology from the hostess. Our waitress was not very pleasant. She never came back to see if we needed anything. Had to ask for her so we could get drinks. Our service was so bad that we didn't even get our food at the same time. One meal was served after we all were done eating. No apology from the waitress. This was my 3rd visit to this location and my 3rd strike. My first visit was my first mistake I ordered the boom boom chicken enchiladas. Why would I order mex. food in a burger joint. My second visit I shared a pizza and It was just an ok pizza. But then I went in for the Monday night special advertised on their website, $6.00 tacos or quesadillas. Well guess what ? They didn't honor it and I had it on my phone for our waitress. Plus they went up $5 on the menu but they offer $3 off. read more

My wife, son and I spent the afternoon hiking at the Mines. We had decided that we wanted to get pizza before we went home, this was at 3:45. We drove to Pusateri's only to find out they would not open until 5:00. Not wanting to wait, we decided to give the Pizza at Barrel House a try. We arrived at about 4:15 and the place as about 1/3 full. We were seated and given menus. About 5 minutes later our waiter came over and took our drink order with an order of Pretzels for appetizers. We then watched a couple get seated two tables over from us. They received their drinks and waitress took their order before our order was placed, which was a little frustrating. But we finally placed our order after our drinks and apps arrived. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We watched the other couple receive their food and eat it. When our waiter finally came over we expressed a little frustration to which he said the manager would come over to talk with us. And we waited longer until another waiter brought out my sons pepperoni kids meal and our half and half extra cheese pizza.........but no pepperoni and the half and half extra cheese was just buffalo with no extra cheese. Waiter apologized and said they were making another pizza for us. We again expressed dissatisfaction and he said the manager would be over (second time). We went with it until we realized just how cold the pizza was. Must have been sitting in the back room for a good 20 minutes. We then flagged our waiter down (who did a good job of ignoring us as he knew what was going on) and he asked if the manager had been over to see us yet. No we replied and we wanted our bill for the app and drinks, we were leaving since it had been over an hour and still no edible food. He said he would get the bill for us. He came back and said no bill and he was sorry for everything. We told him it was ridiculous and he said "what else do you want me to do give you money". We then walked out and went to Pusateri's...........should have just waited. Never did hear from the manager. We will not return. read more

I went with three others for lunch. We were seated right away, but our waitress wasn't very attentive. It took 15 minutes to get menus and drinks. We all ordered sandwiches (chicken, wrap, or burgers) and waited 45 minutes for the food. Our waitress didn't check on us or offer more drinks. A table near us had similar issues, but their orders got delivered in two shifts 30 minutes apart - 1/2 the orders first and the 30 minutes later the rest. Horrible! The table behind us got their tab comped because the service/food was so bad. A guy came to our table finally with two plates. He shoved it at me. I asked what it was and he barked back that he didn't know. Everyone's homemade chips were stale. Waitress walked off when we told her. When we were finished eating she came back and asked if we wanted anything in place of the bad chips. We were done. We already had to go out and feed the street meter more money because this quick lunch was taking 1 1/2 hours. We weren't about to wait around for more poor service and bad food. We stopped by on Saturday afternoon, March 25,2017 about 3:00 p.m. The restaurant wasn't too busy - which at that time is why we went. We waited a good 5 minutes to get seated and there was a couple ahead of us also waiting to be seated. I saw two people that were seated walk out as it looks like they weren't getting waited on. Well, one of the managers Mike finally came over and offered to set us. As we saw the kind of service (or lack of it) we decided just to sit and eat at the bar. We sat down and the female bartender was too busy talking with her friend next to us to take our order. I finally gave her the "eye" and she came over. Which was literally two steps. She never returned after serving our drinks. Then there was another bartender that came over and asked if we would like to order food. I felt that we were putting him out by ordering - not friendly in manner at all.
