My wife's parents were the first to mention this place to us. They had been in the area a little while back for an event and stopped here, later telling us how much they enjoyed it. Based on their recommendation, we decided to make it one of the stops on our exploration of the area. Parking was easy to find--we were able to grab a spot right on the street close to the front entrance. From the moment we walked inside, the atmosphere pulled us in. The decor immediately stood out with its forest and nature-inspired theme. It has a rustic, almost park-like charm, with accents that give a nod to the outdoors and even a touch of mountain biking or adventure culture woven into the details. It felt cozy yet lively, the kind of space that makes you want to linger for a while. We chose a table near the front window, which gave us a nice view and plenty of natural light. Menus and waters were brought over quickly, and the service throughout our visit was attentive without being rushed. As we looked over the menu, we were impressed by the variety--there seemed to be something for everyone, from hearty comfort food to lighter, creative dishes. My wife decided on the pear and blue cheese salad topped with steak bites, while I went for the bacon burger, opting to skip the garlic aioli and tomato. While we waited, we enjoyed talking about the rest of our day's plans, but it wasn't long before our meals arrived. The presentation was spot-on--everything looked fresh and inviting. My wife's salad was colorful and beautifully put together, with generous pieces of steak that paired perfectly with the sweet pear and tangy blue cheese. My burger was just as good as it looked: juicy, flavorful, and well-balanced with the smoky bacon. Each bite was satisfying, and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. We left feeling very happy with our choice. It was a great stop, and while the food alone was enough to make the visit worthwhile, we also noticed the large selection of beers on tap that we didn't get a chance to try this time. That just gives us another reason to return. Next time, we'll definitely pair the meal with a beer flight or two. Overall, this place checked all the boxes: welcoming atmosphere, great service, delicious food, and plenty left to explore on the menu. A spot worth coming back to for sure.

Ive been here over a few dozen times and no matter what it's been phenomenal. In the middle of COVID with only one worker working. Currently at full staff. The food is always aolid solid. There's been no point we were dissatisfied. The Inside is freaking adorable. We've had everything on the menu it's been amazing.

Hailey is the best waitress and very sweet as well. $18.00 for the burger and $3.50 for the the fries. So $21.50 total. The burger there on the buns are very thin. I had not been there in about a year. They burgers seemed to be thinner and smaller and the price is higher than when I was there last time. I ordered the burger medium and it came out well done. Oh well. They were really nice to cut the burger in half for us since we said we were splitting it. I guess my question is if the chef knows the burger is supposed to be medium and he/she cut it in half wouldn't you think the chef would notice that it's well done as opposed to way I ordered it as medium. The burger was so sloppy with all the lettuce, onion and the sauce they put on it that I could not eat it as my hands were covered in drippy watery sauce. So I just took the meat off of the bun and ate the meat and left the bun and veggies on the plate. The wings were not as good as I remember either. I was really craving their wings too. But I was disappointed with the mango and kung pao wings. It seems like they have been going with a different supplier for their wings. Just not as great as I was hoping or nearly as good as they used to be. The beers were good tho. Happy hour is 2-4 so we just missed it. The place was packed too. I might give this place another try on another year. The double burger at Wendy's is a better deal for half the price.

The beer was pretty good! The space is casual and comfortable. The service was good if a bit harried. That said, it was super busy. The food took forever and the coating on my fish and chips was burnt tasting. The pub platter was good but the cheese sauce was broken. We might go back for the beer but not the fish and chips.

Barrel Mountain Brewing has an old wooden rustic vibe inside. It feels kind of dark and has vintage decor. There's bar seating, regular and hightop tables, and outdoor patio tables. We went at dinner time and were seated immediately. We ordered the shaved Brussel sprouts, the bacon burger, the kids Mac n cheese, and the luv ya lager. The shaved Brussel sprouts are not something I would order again. They were drenched in oil and lacked flavor. The bacon burger was delicious. The garlic aioli added a nice flavor. I would have liked the burger a little less cooked so that it would be more juicy. The brioche bun was soft and fresh. The Mac n cheese was creamy. The flavor was great and I would get this again too. The luv ya lager was a nice refreshing light beer. Service at Barrel Mountain was great too. I enjoyed my visit here and would return!

Battle Ground WA. M and I ride through here on our Harleys almost every sunny day. Today trying out the grub spots and the reviews on this place were pretty good. M had the Elk burger but subbed the veggie patty and I had the Kung Pao wings. I liked the wings and her,the burger. Glad they had a real beer on tap at 9% and the cider for M. All in all pretty good except our server we never really saw and had to ask other people to get boxes, cash us out, etc. Other than that pretty positive experience.

I have been tasting fish and chips around the Pacific Northwest for a few years as part of a project to find the best of the best. Way back in the late 1990's is I had some salmon fish and chips at a place called the Malahat Mountain Inn near Victoria, British Columbia, that knocked my socks off. That place is sadly no longer with us, but I have been trying to find some that rise to that standard. A few notable entries in the best of list: Trillium Cafe in Hood River: They used to have dreamy albacore tuna fish and chips. Their new version is still very good, but the albacore was slightly better. I still recommend them. The Salt Hotel and Pub in Ilwaco, Washington: Tender, flaky, and crispy with killer fries. Gracie's Sea Hag in Depoe Bay, Oregon: A little more pedestrian, but still yummy. My favorite used to be the Rose and Thistle in Portland, but new ownership and a different recipe dethroned them as the kings of the craft. Enter Barrel Mountain Brewing in Battle Ground, Washington, with its woodsmoke tinged dining room, and friendly staff. Barrel Mountain Brewing takes fish and chips to a higher level than I've tasted since Malahat Mountain. They use steelhead trout, which is like salmon, but milder. The batter was crispy, not doughy, and with no oil flavor. It stayed crispy through the meal, which is very important. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and flaky. While the steelhead is slightly less flavorful than salmon, they were not afraid to let is taste like fish. There is nothing worse than fish and chips that have no fish flavor. The tartar sauce was savory and herbal, not cloying and sweet. I did not have to doctor it with lemon, salt and pepper like at some places. I've had excellent fish ruined by a sugary tartar sauce. The coleslaw was not too sweet. It had an unusual flavor, but not in a bad way. I liked it, but it was the weak part of the meal. The fries were thin and crispy with lots of crunchy bits to savor. They pass the salt test (needing only salt as a flavoring, even as they cool down). Many fries get soggy, need ketchup to mask diminishing flavor. I added nothing that did not come on the plate, not even salt. That's a first. The foundations of my fish and chips edifice have been shaken. A new order has emerged. These were the best I've had. Give them a try. Make a pilgrimage if you have to.

Steelhead Tacos and Steelhead Fish & Chips

OMG. One of the best meals we've had in a long time. We split the Steelhead Tacos and Fish & Chips. I honestly can't decide which was more delicious! The Fish & Chips had the most perfect batter ever. It was thin and crispy with amazing flavor from the beer and spices used that elevated the fish without overpowering. The fish itself was juicy and tender easily breaking apart with just a slight push down of the fork. The tartar sauce was sooo unique; it had a hint of heat from the peppers but still hit all the relish notes you'd want and expect. The fries were shoestring style and amazing. Crispy shell with a soft center and super salty and not greasy at all. I've never eaten so many fries from a single dish in my life. We got the garlic aioli on the side for the fries and it was dynamite! Finally, the tacos were so delightful. Again, the fish was cooked perfectly with a nice blackened sear from Cajun seasoning which had just the right amount of heat. It is paired with creamy, sweet, and tangy toppings including a pineapple salsa, slaw, and a crema of some sort that left my mouth watering for more! Oh, and their beer is great. lol But that shouldn't be a surprise. I love the No Bad Days IPA which is widely available in the PNW. Tonight I tried the Unplug IPA which was a West Coast style with big hoppy and fruity flavors. Our waitress was so sweet and very attentive. The inside of the restaurant is very kitschy and cute. They have a dog-friendly patio, but it was raining, so he stayed in the camper tonight and took a nap to recover from hiking. But in sunny weather, the patio looks so relaxing to sit in. Can't wait to come back.

Honestly I was hesitant to try this place. It's small it's quaint but the food outshined all my thoughts and expectations. We tried the bacon cheese burger and the prairie burger. We also had the chili pineapple wings and a beer flight. It was $67 before tip but honestly the quality made it so worth it. The wings were perfection. Coated in sauce but still crispy. The heat level was great and the pineapple really added to it. Also they were some of the meatiest wings I've had. The burgers were cooked perfectly with actually crispy bacon!? Amazing! Their house kettle chips are great too. My dude got the salad and it was fantastic - I'd eat an entree size in a heartbeat. It's small, it's cute, make sure to get their at a decent time as tables fill up fast. Highly recommend!!!

Always a delicious experience at Barrel Mountain Brewing. The food is very good, and well prepared. Local ingredients and a good variety on the menu. The beers are all delicious. The service has been very good as well. We have been regulars there for ever. The decorations are based on the surrounding National Parks and cycling, which was an inspiration of the people that started it. I recommend the Imperial IPA. read more

I can say this because my wife doesn't read my Yelp reviews - It's been a long long time since I felt satisfied. We've been touring burger joints since we moved to Vancouver over a year ago. Nothing was a home run. Till now. BMB manages that fine line of gourmet and greasy spoon. I was dubious when I ordered. Shoestring fries that aren't crispy tend to be a disappointment. Not these. The garlic cheesy fries are bangers. Not great date food, but, again, I was so satisfied it didn't matter that we had breath that would knock us over. My wife is more discerning than I am, and we had to roll each other to bed, we'd eaten so many fries. Of course, the main focus is the burger. I kept it simple with the bacon cheeseburger. If it's a good burger, you don't need a lot of extras. Perfect bacon. Wonderfully cooked burger. Delicious bun. Snuck a little of the cheese from the fries under the bun for added oomf. My wife has the shrimp and grits and loved it. It's a lot of food so we had leftovers to boot. Happy to have found my new regular burger joint. Buuuut if I had a negative it would be - no dessert. I mean... we had no room left, but still, it's not a meal out without dessert imo. The only knock on this great place. read more

The food here is just...unreasonably good. I don't go to breweries expecting upscale food. I certainly don't go to breweries expecting seafood stew and sunflower romesco. Yet everything my family has ever tried here is delicious. The stinky rose frites, steak bites, beet salad, and anything with steelhead are particular go-tos. Frankly, despite our efforts to test them, we've found you simply can't go wrong on this menu. Oh, and the beer is good, too. Service is solid, ambiance is rustic/cozy and family-friendly, and location is convenient on Main Street. We've never had a problem finding street parking nearby. Overall, I definitely recommend it here. read more

What a gem!! Unpretentiousness and mellow with absolutely fantastic food and great beer. Super accommodating staff w/ menu alteration requests. Steelhead tacos were phenomenal and the burger and fries were outstanding. Kid said better than In-n-out and Five Guys which are our San Diego go to's. The IPA was perfectly balanced and refreshing. Kudos! Will be back anytime we visit for sure!! read more

Hidden little Gem! This place was great! The atmosphere was wonderful. I brought my sister out for her birthday to have a few drinks and get some grub. They have 7 beers out tap that they brew of course! We tried them all! They also carried a Cider and some wines! Everyone there was so nice. You can tell that the people enjoy working there. So we tried Brussels sprouts, steak bites and a BLT! It was good! The Sprouts were delicious and cooked how I like them. The steak bite were cooked medium and came with a BBQ horseradish sauce yum! The BLT man this guy came on a nice thick sourdough or something like nice full strips of bacon cooked to perfection! It came with a garlic aioli which was superb! This place is great for family night, girls night, bromance night lol. Whoever they will make you feel at home. There is a patio in the back with some nice outside seating. Keep it up you guys are doing great. I'll spread the word. The beer is great . The food is great and the service is even better! read more

It was my first time at this place and my last. Barrel Mountain Brewing at Battle Ground looks like a nice place with good beer and food. We went there with a big group and I ordered a SW Burger and Stinkfry on a side. I found a hair in my dish. I showed it to the worker and she said, okay, I'll show it to our kitchen. After that, I received a receipt that included my burger. No apologies. I understand that no one is perfect and anything can happen, but including a dish with a hair on the receipt is a disgusting attitude towards your customers. Will not come here again and will not recommend to my friends. ( I didn't take a photo of the hair because I wasn't planning on a review) read more

Probably the best food in all of Battleground! The plates of food were like works of art! The service was great, we were immediately greeted as we walked in the door & taken to a table. We tried 3 of their beers, the Luv Ya Lager, No Bad Days IPA & the Ash Cloud Amber, all were well balanced & super tasty. The place has a great ambiance and there is even a nice patio out back. I will go out of my way on my way to or from Portland to stop in again. read more

Really love the vibe of this restaurant. Food was above average and service was a bit slow. Typically I wouldn't mind this but we had 3 little ones with us which makes it tricky to have a slow paced dining experience. Highly recommend the frites. They were bomb. Would definitely come back but knowing to bring extra snacks/toys for the kiddos. read more

Finally made it over to Barrel Mountain Brewery for dinner/drinks last night, having recently had their "No Bad Days" - IPA over at Hockinson Market. What a great beer... easily one of my top 3 IPA's:) The brewery did not disappoint either... we were greeted by friendly staff who quickly put our drink orders in while answering questions about the menu. My wife and I split a large blue cheese salad and house specialty fish & chips. This was easily the best fish & chips I've ever had... they use local steelhead which has unbelievable flavor and their homemade fries were amazing!! I can't say enough about this place... definitely going back for the burgers. read more

Passing through town and decided to stop in here for lunch. Had a fiercely sharp amber ale but the brussels sprouts were carpeted in many layers of sauce that completely overpowered the vegetables. This a dish for people who hate vegetables but need fiber. Most powerful was a cloying balsamic vinegar that made the dish more like a dessert than an appetizer. Service was weak: I had to repeatedly work to get anyone's attention, but the young staff were nice enough. read more

Favorite brew pub in all of Battle Ground. Has a smallish menu but each dish they do extremely well. Burgers are massive so be prepared to unhinge your jaw like an anaconda to eat one. Portions are great. If in a group of 4 don't get the family size of the amazing stinky fries. The regular is enough for a family. Steak bites are my go to and I swear you get at least two cloves of roasted garlic in them. My only gripe would be they change their non classic wings so when you find one that you are like OMG these are amazing you get a little sad. Looking at you flying pig wings... was a mustard bacon based wing sauce :(. Then they had a maple bacon wing. Beer was good. Just be careful with the trail builder as it's a delicious high bpa beer. Their 6 beer sampler is enough to might need an Uber they are so generous with how much they give you. On a nice day their outdoor seating is like a nice picnic and sometimes have live music in the evenings. Even have merchandise and love their shirts. Fit nice and are simple. Growlers available and very inexpensive to get filled. Atmosphere is great. Lots of rustic looking seats and tables and decorations. Feels like your at a lodge that your uncle just put together what he had for chairs and repurposed kegs. Service has always been fantastic and never have any complaints. Has it all in my opinion. read more

Very cute and the food was amazing. We got a beet salad and the steak sub. The steak is in chunks which I quit enjoyed but my husband thought the chunks were too big. The beets in the salad were perfect texture and the taste was on point. The only downside is it was Friday night and twice there was a crowd waiting at the door. Our server was super nice but it started to feel like we were being pushed out. We still had food and full drinks and he came repeatedly to see if we were ready for boxes. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Barrel Mountain Brewing on our drive back from Oregon. It was a little out of the way from our regular route of I5 but it was worth it! I was tempted by all of the great photos I saw on Yelp and BMB lived up to the photos! We got the steak bites to start and they were incredible. Then I got the lettuce wraps with shrimp and my fiancé got a burger. Both of those were great but the steak bites were the star of the show. The atmosphere was also really great - chill and cozy. You can also make reservations online, which is great for large parties. As others have mentioned, it is located in an odd industrial area set back from the main road. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). People complain about the lack of parking which is not an issue when you show up on a motorcycle. But there are LOTS of places to park although you may have to walk a few yards... you poor darlings. Staff is less than amazing but they are always courteous towards me. I suppose I am no more their dream customer than they are my dream hangout. But Bikers tend to be very generous tippers so they might want to keep that in mind. There's one long-established watering hole in Cathlamet but it's a dark, indoor venue. I like it there and it's more of a dive bar with very good food. The thing about Cathlamet is that if you are just an occasional visitor you have many options of where to stop for a meal and/or drink and never get bored. There's also a few good places at the other end of the ferry ride in Westport, Oregon. Hard to say how long RM38 will stay in business. I'm actually surprised that they lasted in their original location for so long considering that they were only open for a few hours during the weekend. It would be great if they quit pretending to be an upscale eatery and instead focused on providing a good value, tasty, filling meal for the money. Again, no minus stars for that but until new management comes along and makes some changes it will just be a pint or two for me and i'm on my way. Of course as always YMMV.

Menu offers some non standard pub fare. Food is usually very good. Seating is uncomfortable. Right in town, so parking may be a little bit of a walk. We do recommend it for its slightly more adventurous pub fare. read more

I got a side of peanut sauce that I saw came with vegan potstickers. I was curious about the potstickers, but stuck with the salad. My friends got tofu tacos, spring rolls and potstickers. They generously offered me a potsticker to satisfy my curiosity. It was good! The parking lot was small and full. I parked next door and asked a wait staff if it was ok, I was told yes.
