I'll start with they have delicious beers. My husband LOVED his stout and I had the Zinfandel sour and the beer slushie. So good! We LOVED the live music. And the outdoor seating was very enjoyable. We had our two children with us. And they were fine. But we were originally with a group of 8 other people who had children as well. Some more energetic than ours. We drove 45 minutes for what we thought was a brewery that had its own grassy area that you can sit and drink. From the pictures it seems there's a "children's area" so your kids can run around/burn off energy while you enjoy a delicious adult beverage. The fact you can bring your OWN food is great too especially if you have picky little ones they could have their own picnic! However, that was not the case. The beer, live music, and ambiance is great. Bringing in your own food--also great! BUT there is no grassy area that belongs to the establishment. It is a public green area that you CANNOT bring your drink out to. The bouncy house, and live music pictured is probably a special event but I imagine you'd still not be able to bring your beverages out to. Again we loved this place for us and our kids but it wasn't what we thought it was and was not a good fit for our entire group. Just didn't want any other families, who happen to love a good beer AND have a family, to be disappointed. read more

Today my sister and I had a very disappointing experience at BarrelHouse in the RiverPark plaza. A waiter named Donald, who later identified himself as an assistant manager, approached us and accused us of drinking outside liquor. When we explained that we had not consumed anything, he became verbally rude and even used profanity toward us. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and despite us remaining calm, he called security. We asked to speak with a manager, and while most of the staff behind the bar were not helpful in deescalating the situation, one (male) bartender did inform us that the manager was arriving. When she did, she handled everything professionally--she quickly recognized we were not being confrontational and asked security to leave. She was calm, understanding, and respectful, which we truly appreciated. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we will not be returning. Date night on a Friday night and we manage to grab a high top table as it's a first come first serve bases after ordering at the counter for your drinks. Lots of variety of beer on tap. No liquor. We ordered the Big Sur double IPA & Hazy IPA and can't go wrong with IPAs. The ambiance and vibe is just awesome and chill with some shuffleboard game available to play with friends too. We sat in front of the live music I guess happens on the fri & weekends assuming? Not bad & they're funny too. BH doesn't serve food but like free nuts to snack with your drinks BUT...... on the table there's a QR code to order for delivery from Yardhouse?!? WHAT! How awesome bc 1. We don't have to wait over there to grab food! 2. We were alrdy craving to grab food there! & how awesome is it to get it deliver to you right at the table?! Win! We decided to eat at Barrel House since there was a character meet and greet that night at River Park and it was close by. Note that Barrel House does not actually serve food; they simply encourage bringing food from a nearby restaurant and enjoying it here withe their beer. I would say the ambiance is so/so; Riverpark is definitely a family friendly shopping area, but Barrel House could do more to appeal to families (such has having more games for kids, more kid-friendly seating and tables, etc). My server was fairly lackluster and really didn't seem like he wanted to be working that day: he did not want to answer questions about the beer (I can't have dairy and had questions about added lactose, he simply said "I really don't know" when I asked which beers have lactose in them", which is bad customer service), and he took forever to pour my beer, disappearing for a long time after I ordered. The beer itself was also just ok, there are definitely better breweries in Fresno. All in all, this is an ok place to have a beer if you are already at Riverpark, but I would not make a special trip here. read more

Came to listen to live music by the Restless Collective! Barrelhouse Brewing is such an open space, you can hear the music no matter where you sit, even if you can't find a spot nearby the stage. Thank you to the bartender for letting us have that last encore song :) For a beverage, I got the seasonal Holly Daze Cranberry Spiced Sour. There was a very quick wait, and I got my drink pretty fast. It was definitely an interesting flavor combo- I was expecting a taste similar to spiced wine but the sour came through much more than the spice. It also comes with a cinnamon stick. read more

Came to this spot on a "mini honeymoon" on our way back to SoCal. As our first stop we were immensely disappointed. Not only was their website beyond not having up to date (I really wanted to try their DP beer & my husband wanted the N.A. Pale ale); The beertender was beyond rude and seemed to have minimal customer service skills. We had been there first (literally waited for her to open the door at 2pm) and she assisted two other couples who quite possibly may have been her regulars. I get it. It's a guaranteed tip from someone you know. We got a flight - with minimal help and recommendations from the beertender, the beer is where the stars come from for my review. The passion fruit hazy was SUPER good ! Wow !! I think I may have gotten the bottom of the keg for the strawberry blonde as it tasted a little more "fermented" than a blonde traditionally would; but it was still good. The key lager was AMAZING. A traditional lager infused with lime. The lime was present but not overpowering. Apple pie sour - just skip. Horrible. 10/10 do not recommend but it was intriguing for sure. We were on our way out the door and my husband wanted a sticker and we went over to check them out. The same girl quickly came over to us and said " I can't sell merch" We ended up leaving. I just took the coasters for our scrapbook. Overall the beer was great but likely will not be back. read more

The best thing about BarrelHouse in my opinion is the location. Located at River Park, this brewery is the perfect place to visit before or after dinner, shopping, or a movie. The location makes it super accessible and convenient. The inside is spacious, with ample seating inside and outside by the patio. On some days there's live music played at night time. Service is straightforward. I've had times where staff members were friendly and other times where they weren't. The beer itself is good, some better, but haven't tried anything amazing. There's plenty of options so I will continue to try until I find my go to beer. They also have free pretzels which I appreciate since I like to snack on something while I drink my beer. read more

Great selection of beers and tons of seating both inside and outside. I tried their beer slushy and was not disappointed. They allow outside food which is great since there's lots of places near by. Only downside was they weren't showing football games on their tvs on Sunday...they had 3 huge tvs with horse races on, and when we asked if a game could be put on they said maybe but never did it. It was also super hot inside which made it impossible to sit in there, luckily it was a nice day so being outside was fine. I've been there before and temperatures inside weren't an issue so maybe it was just whoever was in charge of the thermostat that shift. read more

Located in the River Park mall, it provides a great space to wind down with plenty of seating , both outdoors and indoors. I went with a friend on a Thursday night and they had trivia - the sound was very loud though and we sat outside. They have a wide range of selection for beer so I would want to come back to try the other varieties. They don't have food/snacks though so make sure to bring something (if that's ok with them) or eat before hand! read more

The atmosphere is very laid back and open. There is a stage so I know live music must be here on certain days. There is also a shuffleboard table as well. Went Saturday just before they opened at 11am and there was already a line and went Wednesday around 7pm and the patio/ outside seating was full. Love the open concept and location. The customer service was great, the workers are very friendly. They have a great selection of beers. My fiancé and ordered the tasting flight, you choose from 5 beers for only $16. So far my favorites has been the Big Sur and the Juicy IPA. I'm not much of a beer drinker but these two drinks has me coming back. Seating can be very limited on busy days, they also have outdoor heaters. Each table has a OR code for The Hanger if you want a bite to eat and the food is delivered to you. This brewery is an awesome addition to River Park. It's replaced the SBI Boardshop and they're really making the most of their location and outdoor space. Since they've opened during covid times, you go inside to order your beer/flights + $1 cup noddle as your food item (if you don't want it, they have a donation bin you can drop the cup noodle in--great idea!) you seat yourself at an open table outdoors and there's a QR code at each table that you can scan with your phone for food options from the Hanger, the food provider that the brewery has partnered with for some good beer food options. Save your cup noodle for later ;) We got chicken wings and tater tots and they were so good and crispy. Perfect pairing with my flight. I got 4 sours and 1 holiday-season peppermint stout on my beer flight. Each beer being $4, the flight was $20. Water is self-serve and they also had complimentary small pretzels snacks in zip lock bags next to the water. I'm guessing these are for if you're starting to feel a little bit tipsy off the beers and just want some pretzels to help line your stomach for more beer :) read more

COVID-19 is not going to keep BH in Riverpark down! I love the spacious interior - so sad it cant be used right now. But BH has our backs with a patio and takeover of a big outdoor area. They are all about the beers and i love that. The menu is extensive. I wanted to taste several so i went with a flight. The fruited beers were a little too sour for me but i LOVED the IPAs. Big Sur is a total winner, love it. For food, you can bring over food from any of the many Riverpark options. Or you can order straight from The Hangar via an app. Perfect! Yay!!! I'm so excited Fresno has a barrelhouse now!! I've been looking forward to this brewery to open for a long time. Start with the beers, they're good. There's a ton to choose from, and if you can't decide get a flight of beers! You choose 5 - 4 ounce beers and they give it to you on this long paddle board. This is the best way to choose before committing to a pint. Need some help? Go for the mango ipa. It's pretty popular and for good reason. It's damn delicious and drinkable. Bathrooms are beautiful and they smell good. The soap smells like watermelon bubbalucious. There is a also a ledge around the bathroom, which I appreciate for phones or other small items. Nice details. However, there are only three stalls for the women's bathroom. Fine for right now, but this is going to get packed quick when it's fully open. There's even a spot for bands to play. It is very open with a large area patio area or you can choose indoor drinking. There are options to have The Hangar deliver food to your table!!! You just have to scan the QR cod and place your order!! Such a great idea How are they functioning as a brewery during Covid? You pay for a cup of noodles with your drinks! You can heat up your noodle cup, or donate it. Also, they're cleaning like crazy after each patron. And of course, you have to wear your mask. This place is definitely going to blow up and be fun. I did not enjoy the beer that they use for Micheladas because it had a fruity flavor. It is made with their juicy beer. The place is very clean and open with lots of seating. A SLO based brewery right in the busiest shopping area of Fresno? Cool. Love the layout that's indoor space that opens to their outdoor seating right outside the brewery. They have a small stage for local artists/bands that play on some nights like Farmers Market on Tuesdays. I like how they're super chill about eating food from food trucks while ordering brews from them. My favorite brews are the mango and the michelada. I get they were enforcing some sort of crowd limits... but NO ONE TOLD ME AND NO SIGNS WERE POSTED WHEN I LEFT! Terrible PR! I can't find anything wrong this place. I went for the first time on a Friday night and it was great! Of course and most importantly the beer has to be great! And it is! From their Juicy to Hazy to Seltzer, I enjoyed every beer I had. Granted I'm not much into Double IPA's and Stouts so can't comment on that. They also have water and self serve bar mix. The vibe was cool. Good crowd, do get a very mixed age but for the most part everyone seemed mature and chill. Staff and security were all nice and helpful and quick.
