Zero stars. Heather continued to walk past my table and the lady next to my table to serve 3 other tables that walked in after us. Mind you all this happened after we sat at the bar for 15mins just to get ignored. I finally asked for menus and directions. Heather said to go sit at a table for service. I'm shocked how rude the workers are here. The worst service in all Indy. After being ignored for 45mins and watching Heather argue with another server bc neither of them wanted to take our table or the one next to us. It's the worst experience ever!!! This place is fantastic! Food and service were both top notch. Pricing is very reasonable. I had their cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger is hand pattied from fresh beef. The fries are cut in house from fresh potatoes. The menu is only two pages, but there are a lot of options. I'll definitely be back. I don't drink alcohol anymore, but they do have a large stocked bar and lots of beers on tap, most of which seemed to be from local breweries. read more

I've been coming in as of late due to my boyfriends love for dive bars. Barringer's has a feel to it that makes you believe you are walking into a place of comfort. A nice place near Garfield Park, which has been doing business for 140 years. Has both bar and family dining areas. Menu consists of sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Came in on a Monday evening. Service was a bit slow, but friendly and courteous. Food was good and reasonably priced. Decor and atmosphere was your standard neighborhood bar/diner. Great bar on the Southside that has been given a fresh new lease on life. It's a nice open bar inside with plenty of seating and tables. The original bar is still in use and pretty cool! They definitely embraced the historic past of the place while making it fresh and new as well. Typically they have a daily special on food, and their prices are very very reasonable. We enjoyed the fact that they have a "Touch Tunes" jukebox so we can play music from our phones using the app. I had a tenderloin with chips and a bloody mary for $14.00 out the door. The tenderloin was perfect in size, breading was on point and it was hand-pounded in house and not too thin or thick, but just right! Delicious! I will be back for sure. read more

After a long day, we decided to head to Barringer's for dinner. We had good service from the two people behind the bar. They were about to start Singo so the crowd was starting to build. Even with the crowd they didn't miss a beat. It's good bar food. I had a chili cheese dog and Deb had their sausage and cheese with a balsamic drizzle. Both meals were very good and you can't beat the price. Two rounds of drinks, two meals, and a bowl of chex mix all for under $40. It's super easy to get to, and there is a decent amount of parking. Three words: Beer. Cheese. Soup. It isn't on the menu but it should be! It was the special today when my husband and I went in to try Barringer's Tavern. This turned out to be a great place to watch college football and have a really good meal. I had The Meridian with breaded chicken (I had to bring one piece of chicken home because it was so much) and hubby had the Double Barringer's Bar Burger. Both had fries. We loved checking out all the old license plates and beer cans. (Can you say Hamms and Olympia with pull tabs?!?) Reading about the long history was interesting and to read Copone and Dillinger were there is fascinating. Loved supporting an Indy institution and looking forward to going back for live music on the back patio! This is the second time I have visited Barringer's Tavern with friends. This tavern has excellent food choices, and the atmosphere is like no other. Great service, and the owner was in as well always checking on customers. The Fish is perfect, paired with the homemade tartar, really set it off. Sunday nights they have Songo (song bingo) and it was fun! Will definitely be trying to make this a weekly trip, as it really makes for a fun time, with amazing music. The other perk, is this tavern has so much history, that it's fun to think of how many good times has been had here. Highly recommended! read more

This place was great. Went here one other time and it was great then too. Got the tenderloin this past time along with onion rings. Overall really good. Tenderloin wasn't like the others around. Not as pounded out flat but really good. Onion rings were terrific and had some ranch with them that I believe was homemade. The place is great as there are a bunch of games in the back (pin ball, shuffle board, pool, darts, along with a video game station. Most of these items were free too so that was a great bonus. Visited this place for the first time last night with my grandparents and mom as they were very excited to try it. They remember probably everything that this place use to be and went to the old place before it had shut down. They have been reopen for about a year now. When you enter, you sit yourself and there was a good amount of tables. Our waiter, Quinn, came up pretty quickly and got us our drinks- he was friendly and helpful. He seemed to be the only waiter so he came back from serving another table to take our order. My grandparents got the tenderloin and hot dog and my mom got the tenderloin. I ordered the ham and cheese. The food was delicious! Only downside is they up charge for fries so most sandwiches come with chips. I would have preferred fries but didn't want the up charge. They have some games behind the seating area and even an outside section. They also have a collection of license plates and beer/soda cans to look at. They have trivia on Tuesdays and looks like other events through the week. Very cool place to come for a nice dinner. read more

Came for the Tuesday steak special, good deal for the money, pay the upcharge for the bigger steak!

Ordered brunch near the end of the time it is served. The coffee was lukewarm and the food was at 50% quality. The server and cook were passive aggressive for no reason. I'm baffled. I'll try it again when the staffing situation is better. I think Barringer's is suffering from effects of the pandemic. Established in 1879, this neighborhood tavern has racked up a lot of history. "Barringer 2.0" plans to continue and improve that legacy. The tavern is current divided into a bar area and a family area with plenty of seating, including outdoor seating. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of beers and sandwiches. The Hoosier Sandwich is the staple of every good bar in Indiana...the tenderloin. The breaded version was not pounded flat and wide but rather fit on the bun. I like that! It was not greasy and tasted very good. The Chili Cheese Dog was also reported to be very good. The dog was large and well appointed. Too big not to eat with a knife & fork. While the current menu is somewhat limited, the word is that there is "more to come". Almost hidden in a back alcove is an arcade area with a pool table, ski ball, pinball, and (believe it!) Pac-Man. The tavern features trivia and karaoke nights as well as live entertainment on the weekends. The service was great! Both bartenders (shift change) were personable and attentive to everyone. Overall, it was a nice lunch and fun afternoon. We'll be back. I recommend giving this old tavern a new try. You'll like it. read more

And I said "no that's the full carb beer" She just shook her head and said "I don't know what you want' So, I asked what low-carb beer do you have in general and she said "I don't know". Oh Barringers. My neighborhood bar. For being 1.5 miles from downtown, you would honestly think you were in a small town in rural Indiana the moment you step into Barringers. The first thing that drew me to Barringers was the history of it. It was basically been around for over 120 years as multiple different things. Even Al Capone visited here back in the 1920's! They have obviously changed things since then; however, it still has a Super fun environment. They have live music some nights, games in the back and the beers are reasonably priced. From what I understand, there are multiple owners and usually one is there everyday. One time when we were there, one of the owners bought the place a round and they announced this by ringing a giant bell that is behind the bar. My boyfriend and I are always the youngest people there when we go but we love it so we keep coming back. Last time we went, we did order food. It's typical bar food but yummy nonetheless and very cheap. read more

While the menu may read like what you would expect to be "typical pub-grub" you are in for a surprise. There is real craftsmanship here. The pork tenderloin (fried obviously) was one of the best I ever had. My wife had a burger and likened it to five guys- I don't know a better endorsement. Couple the food with a spotless, fun environment with wait staff that appears to really want to be there and take pride and you have a place you will want to go back to.
