    Breakfast menu 1/12/25
    Kandice T.

My husband and I decided to try out this little diner for breakfast today. After locking the address into our GPS, we still managed to miss it once we had arrived. It's really small and inconspicuous. Once we found it, we saw that the parking lot was nearly full and there were 3 open tables and space at the counter available. The young woman who served us was very nice and checked in with us often. The food came out fast and was decent. My husband and I both ordered a Short Breakfast plate, which came with 2 eggs cooked your way, your choice of sausage or bacon, and your choice of toast. We also ordered 2 slices of French toast, a la carte. The eggs were cooked right and the toast was buttery. No complaints there. My issue was with the cleanliness of the place. There was food on the floor beneath our booth and cobwebs covering the dollar bills that decorated the ceiling. As a matter of fact, all of the 1950's memorabilia was dusty and dirty. Also, we were given a huge bottle of creamer that sat on our table the entire time while we ate. This practice doesn't seem very sanitary to me, and it's just a bit unconventional. Sadly, at the end of my meal, I noticed a hair stuck to the inside of my soda cup. Ugh...barf! Despite all of that, this place seems to be a neighborhood favorite, as it was full to capacity when we left with a party that had just walked in sitting down at the table we'd just gotten up from before it could even be cleaned! My husband loves diners and we're on the hunt for a good one, but we won't be making the drive out to this one again...ever. Sidenote: all of the menu pricing has been marked out with nothing displayed or supplied to replace it, so either verbally ask for pricing or order at your own risk!

This is mom and pop diner. The theme is right on. We got a table right away, the waitress was nice. The menu has all prices blacked out so we didn't know what we were paying. We ordered steak and eggs and the Sampler. The steak was cooked well and flavorful. The sampler was so much food. The bacon was delicious

Stepping into Rock-Cola Café is like falling through a glittery chrome wormhole straight into the 1950s -- but with better Wi-Fi and more ranch dressing options. The jukebox vibes hit before the food even does, and suddenly you're rethinking every life choice that doesn't involve owning a pink Cadillac. Now, let's talk food. The Philly Steak & Cheese was so cheesy it should've been paying rent. The grilled onions and peppers were doing a perfect little tango under that golden hoagie bun. And the Reuben? A work of edible art -- crispy rye hugging tender corned beef like it was saying "don't ever leave me." Spoiler: I didn't. We also tackled a basket of fried glory -- fries, jalapeño poppers, mushrooms, probably some hush puppies sent from heaven. Each bite whispered, "You'll need a nap after this," and I listened. The sauces? Four tiny cups of personality. BBQ sauce with swagger, honey mustard with attitude, ranch that knew its worth, and ketchup just happy to be here. By the end, I was full, nostalgic, and considering buying a leather jacket I don't need. The staff was friendly, the décor was pure Americana joy, and the menu had enough puns to make even your dad proud. If calories didn't count at diners with checkerboard plates, I'd move in permanently.

Adorable diner! It's small, so get there early! Food was great! Our omelettes were filled with all the deliciousness Service was great. Our waitress was kind and attentive. The decor in this place is great! Lots of interesting posters, signs and random decor to look at. We went during lunch hours but we're still able to enjoy breakfast

First time visiting this place, and we were quite pleased! It's a cute diner paying homage to the 50's with its aesthetic. The food was really good. It's exactly what you want with diner food. I got the smoked sausage sandwich and onion rings. The sausage was cooked perfectly, it was juicy and flavorful and had a nice snap when biting into it. The onion rings were delicious and stayed nice and crispy. My partner got the omelette with 4 eggs. It was quite big, and it was also really good. The people were friendly and service was great. Our food came out pretty fast and it was hot and fresh. This diner is located in Irvington, in a less visited area, but definitely deserves a visit. Parking was on the side of the building. Highly recommend Rock-Cola 50s Cafe if you're looking for classic diner food and ambiance!

If you blink while trying to find this spot, you'll miss it but trust me, do not pass it by! This is a greasy spoon, locals only type of spot tucked away on the east side of the 465. There's only a handful of parking spots and tables to match. The decor is what you'd expect given the name. The staff is friendly and the food was quality. We did not try the choc-ola but I hear it's tasty and nostalgic. My mom and I ordered some sandwiches while the kids got chicken and burgers. My mom stated it was one of the better Rubens that she's had and trust me when I say, she's an aficionado. I ordered the mile high club and some fries. I definitely did not need the fries. The sandwich lived up to its moniker. The kids liked their food but adored their milkshakes. So much so they were put down for the count for a bit! Give this place a try if you're looking for some down home, old school eats.

We finally made it over to this nostalgic establishment this morning to enjoy Sunday breakfast. We knew this place was going to be good when we pulled into the lot and there were no parking spots available. Plus they look like they haven't had a renovation in 50 years so any place that looks like they're not trying to impress anyone with bells and whistles must be a master of their griddle! Boy, were we right! With only three friendly and welcoming staff coordinating the customer service of the whole restaurant, these folks crank out top notch diner cuisine! Offering such old timey plates as fried bologna sandwiches, malts, and Choc-Cola, they definitely have something for everyone. I opted for the Short Breakfast which was only $6.99! As soon as my plate arrived, I could smell the stick of butter in my Texas toast, and I immediately fell in love with the place! I stole a nibble of my boyfriend's Philly cheesesteak which was a total game changer! This tiny but mighty diner has it figured out! The only snag we could foresee is that the place is very popular and has extremely limited seating so it wouldn't take much to cause a wait, but the neighborhood locals who frequent the place seem to move in and out with precision. Plus the kitchen cranks out plates so fast your head will spin! We'll definitely be back to try about 20 more items on the menu. Highly recommend!

Rock-Cola is a kitschy, retro diner filled with vintage decor and a typical diner menu. We stopped in around 10am on Mother's Day. My mom picked this restaurant since they are the only ones who have Chocola and that is what she wanted. We have been before a few years ago so this was our second visit. It's a small building, with just about 5 or 6 tables, plus barstools at the counter. There were a few single diners and another family when we were there. Since it's so small, you seat yourself and often the servers were just calling out from behind the counter to get your drink order. I saw one gentleman get up and get his own drink, but he may have just been a regular who felt comfortable doing so since I didn't see anyone else who did that. My mom and brother had Chocola but I opted for coffee. The servers refilled my cup several times throughout our visit. We had a few different servers but overall they were friendly. We ordered right away and it took about 10 minutes to get our food. I had the biscuits and gravy. I ordered the full but a half would've been plenty. My brother had the lumberjack omelette and my mom had the short breakfast. Everything was delicious. The hashbrowns were the best I've ever had, they were super crunchy and greasy. The only issue we had was one of our servers was more than a little peeved when we attempted to order something to go after we ate. She was fine when we cleared up that we only wanted a piece of pie to go, nothing that needed to be cooked.

I was really pleased with the service that I received. The menu had a mixture of American comfort food as well as classic Southern dishes. I took several glances at the food other were ordering and they all looked so appealing and appetizing. I decided to order something that I haven't tried anywhere else, so I ordered the Southern Shakshuka, which is their own unique spin-off to the original. Same great staff, same cool space, same open kitchen where a party of one like me can grab a counter seat and watch the chefs do their thing. I've honestly always enjoyed that part of the experience. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. And as someone who normally isn't much of a slaw person, I was surprised by how much I loved it. They also tried to tempt me with the roast beef special, which honestly looked great, but at 10:30 in the morning I just couldn't fully commit to roast beef yet. Maybe next time. The new name is a nice tribute to the owner's mother, Arleen, but thankfully it still feels like the Milktooth so many of us have come to enjoy over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in awhile.

I will cut some slack on the service, however - I arrives after what seems to have been a very atypical rush of Journey fans who inundated the place before heading to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. I waited a bit long before I was greeted with a menu, waited awhile with an empty glass, waited with my food pushed away before it was cleared. No one asked if everything was okay even though most of my food was untouched. The food... my salad (house greens) was a great little salad! I say this despite finding a hair on the plate when I was about 2/3 through. My mussels and fries were not great. The fries were mid - they tasted kind of overdone or as if the oil were old. The mussels were actively bad. The portion (an app) was pretty small. There was hardly any broth/wine and they weren't piping hot. Also, they were actually not tasty and the texture was rubbery. They remained in front of me, uncleared, even after I closed my tab. They did not smell good. I don't anticipate being sick but I do anticipate being hungry.

The seating? Intimate. The lighting? Soft. The whole space feels like a quiet luxury moment tucked right into the city. Now let's talk about what REALLY matters, the food. The shrimp & grits??? Listen... this wasn't just a dish, this was an EXPERIENCE. The grits were creamy, smooth, and perfectly rich, but that sauce layered on top?? Whew. Flavor on flavor on flavor. You've got that deep, savory, slightly smoky profile with juicy shrimp, sausage, and those pickled onions cutting through everything with the perfect tang. Every bite felt intentional. Like somebody knew what they were doing in that kitchen. And can we talk about how beautiful it was plated?? Because yes, I absolutely appreciated the aesthetics before I even picked up my fork. Paired it with a simple coffee moment, sitting by the window, and honestly... it felt like a reset. Not rushed, not loud, just good food, good atmosphere, and a chance to actually enjoy it. If you're looking for a brunch spot that feels a little more elevated, a little more intentional, and delivers on both flavor and experience. This is it. 10/10. I'll absolutely be back!!!

FLAVORFUL RESTAURANT IN A HIP PART OF INDY…read more======================================== My daughter-in-law recommended Bluebeard for dinner on Monday, June 22, 2026. I would have to say this restaurant is my favorite in Indy right now after one meal. Most of the things we shared were amazing and for a complete description please refer to my photo of the menu. We ordered the following: Burrata with Amelia's bread as an appetizer which was delicious. Gem Salad - This was amazing and I could eat it every day of the week. Stacci house made pasta - This was a big hit and I would order this every time. Hanger Steak - My husband, aka the picky eater, loved it. I didn't try it, but everyone seemed to like it. Chicken with a few dumplings - We all loved this. Three desserts to share: a cheesecake with fruit on top, one a bread pudding and a chocolate crisp. I ordered a delicious Monsoon Season cocktail with song cai vietnamese gin, cocchi americano, st. george thai basil eau de vie, elderflower, lemon and basil oil. My son and I also ordered glasses of Port after dinner. The service was great and I loved that they were playing really good rock music like Soundgarden and others. There are lots of antique typewriters above the bar and a cool print of Kurt Vonnegut by the bathrooms. I am looking forward to going again the next time my husband and I are in Indy visiting my son and daughter-in-law unless they move out of state.

Themed around Indy native Kurt Vonnegut, you'll see old typewriters, books, and names of menu items paying tribute to the famous author. The menu feels high class but the atmosphere and wait staff are friendly and welcoming. You could dress up for a special occasion or come in casual every day wear and either fit in just fine. Their ever changing menu featuring local produce and meats is always unique, inventive, and most importantly, delicious. Their cocktail list is one of the best and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an extensive mocktail list as well. Their sodas and syrups are all house-made which means every drink is full of fresh flavors. I had a lemon pasta dish an my husband ordered the hanger steak. Both were cooked perfectly and composed of flavors and textures that complimented each other perfectly. There's nothing that wouldn't be good on their menu because you can tell the chefs are exceptional as well as the ingredients they choose. I really can't say enough good things about this place, it remains one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal and no matter what I choose, I'm never disappointed.

Met up with two friends for brunch at Love Handle and it absolutely delivered. Great location at…read morethe end of Mass Ave near Bottleworks--and pro tip: parking directly in front on the same side of the street is free. The space is big and fun, with a large dining room, an old-school video arcade game, interesting art, and a big screen playing movies, which adds to the laid-back, quirky vibe. It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Self-serve coffee with all the fixings is a nice touch, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Fun atmosphere, great food, solid portions--definitely will be back.

My husband and I had never been here before and the lady at the counter was less than friendly. She did tell us the menu was on the other wall. My husband got a Diet Coke that came in a can and we both got a classic plate minus the toast. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties... nothing special including the presentation. The price for each plate was $18 plus a $2 can of coke and a tip they didn't deserve brought our total to a little over $40. The eggs were flavorless and literally had no seasoning. I did appreciate that the sausage patties weren't greasy. That was about the only good thing. The decor looked like they took whatever thrift stores couldn't sell with no particular theme. Funny enough, we went out for breakfast a few days later to a DIFFERENT PLACE and for the SAME PRICE got way more food, better quality food, better presentation, full table service, friendly service, great atmosphere, and an overall wonderful experience. Overall, I would not recommend this place. We left feeling like we got ripped off and I could have made the same thing better at home.
