Jimmy knows all his regulars by name. And if you're new to his little diner, he'll make the effort to talk to you and ask you where you're from. That's just the way he is. This charming classic diner was busy when we arrived around 11 am. Our server told us to sit anywhere at one of the booths or tables. The place has about 16 tables. The grill is open to the dining room and Jimmy was busy frying eggs and dishing up grits. Vintage local photos hang in the wall. Our server recommended the pork tenderloin or the BLT sandwich. Specials were listed on a blackboard. The menu offers a broad selection of breakfast and sandwich items. Beverages came out quickly. Our server was friendly, engaging and a super 5 star. My husband tried the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich with fries. Jimmy batters and fries the tenderloin right before your eyes. The sandwich is hearty and juicy. I had the fried chicken lunch special which comes with mashed potatoes, green beans and toast. The plate was huge. I'm a connoisseur of mashed potatoes and these mashed potatoes were made fresh with bits of red skin and topped with a creamy gravy. The chicken was moist inside with a crispy coating. The green beans were ok. I was too full to try the desserts, but the blueberry shortcake sounded awesome. Another day. Restrooms are clean. A parking lot is available behind the building. Was looking for a locally owned diner and found this place. All the reviews were saying the staff and everyone is friendly and that the food is delicious. And I have to say, all the reviews were correct! As I walked in, the gentleman who was cooking behind the counter, greeted me by saying hello with a big inviting smile that immediately made me feel welcome and told me I can sit anywhere I'd like. The lovely lady who waited on me was super friendly and nice. And then my food came out and it was delicious! I will definitely be back!! My wife and I are at a Lock Show in Indianapolis. We saw this restaurant on yelp. We stopped in for breakfast all good the waitress very nice cook stopped over and talked to us about our breakfast at hamburger steak and eggs. It was all very good. I had a great time. It's a little neighborhood hole in the wall. Service is very good, and informative. The food was good. I ordered the country fried steak not the best option. However the rest of the meal, eggs, hash browns and sausages were fine. My husbands omelet was cooked beautifully. This is a small mom and pop dinner located off the beaten path, just down the street from UIndy. It was fun how I found this place. I was just driving down the street looking for a place to eat lunch and I passed this place and it had a sign out front that said Sloppy Joes. I was like, I don't mind if I do. This place has a small dining area with a few booths and tables. They definitely have their regulars because I was the only person there that was not on a first name basis with the staff there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Luckily, I caught them just before they closed and was able to sit and eat in. They have you typical dinner food with daily specials. The special, the day I was there, was, yep, you guessed it, sloppy joes. Their food is very reasonably priced. I ordered a sloppy joes, which came with fries. I took about 5 minutes for them to prepare it and it was fresh and hot. There was so much 'sloppy' on my joe that I could not really make it a sandwich and had to did in with a knife and fork. It was one of the best sloppy joes I have had. The meat was very flavorful. I am still thinking about it. I highly recommend checking this place out. My potatoes were perfect, eggs exactly like I ordered, bacon delicious and crispy. They have Rye toast! I spilled my water and they were so gracious. So, my hubby and mother in law & myself went here today! It's a cozy neighborhood diner and I'm here for it! I got breakfast and the hubby got a burger and tater tots my mother in law got French toast. It is truly comfort food and a comfort setting! Service was in the great words of JJ Evans "dynomite." I went to Jimmy's Diner on a whim while I was near the U Indy campus for breakfast. It's a no-frills restaurant, but the food was good. Our waitress was really nice as well. I had the corned beef hash. It came with large home fry style potatoes, so next time I would probably order hashbrowns instead. My husband got an omelette and the eggs were cooked very nicely. I've driven by this place dozens of times and didn't even know it was there even though this tiny neighborhood diner sits on the corner. I came on recommendation from my brother who raves about Jimmy's. Parking is a little limited but sufficient for the amount of tables. Once inside, if you don't look outside, you're transported to a small town diner with old school country vibes. We came in for breakfast around 10 AM on a Saturday. They were pretty busy but there was a table near the door so we sat ourselves. The menu is pretty extensive for a small place with a one man griddle station. We settled on biscuits and gravy and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit with hash browns for the each of us. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. The gravy is well seasoned and the biscuits were homemade. Hubby's breakfast sandwich was perfectly cooked with an over medium egg. Our entire bill was under $20.
