Adis from Barrington Motors is absolutely amazing! He saved me over $12,000! If you are looking for a mechanic you can trust, let me introduce you to Adis. My 8 year old Volvo, with a mere 58,000 miles on it, was asking for oil every month. I took it into Volvo Culver City where it had been serviced for its entire life. They told me, "That's odd, we can do this test, but it will cost you $1,000." I decided to get a second opinion. Adis took one look at it and said this is a major engine issue and Volvo should pay for it. He quickly researched & came up with Volvo's own internal document issuing an extended warranty for this exact oil consumption issue. Adis advised me to take this document back to Volvo and warned me that I'd have to fight for it. Volvo Culver City (remember how earlier they pretended not to know what the problem was?) now said, "Oh, wow, you're hired." They now offered to pay for this $1,000 test but not the $10,000+ it would cost to fix the engine. After waiting Volvo out 7 months, Volvo agreed to pay for their manufacturing error. Without Adis' candid honesty, integrity, knowledge and research, I would have been up a creek. In Los Angeles it is tough to find an outstanding mechanic. Well, I found him. I was burned by Adis Behesnilian who runs Barrington Motors. He basically stole my money and made my car eventually unusable. He took cash in advance and would not return it when he found that my engine block was cracked , He wanted an extra $2,500 to wield it and did not do a proper job for what he agreed to do for me. He instead put a bondo agent on the crack that eventually cracked open and was leaking from the start. He tried to get extra money from me to fix what he supposedly didn't know about until he put oil in the car (which was the cracked block). He lied to me and took cash only and would not even write me a receipt for installing headlights front and taillights rear on my V.W. saying he gave me a cash deal and that he didn't need to give me a receipt. I am taking him to small claims court. Do not do business with him or Barrington Motors. I have notified the Bureau of Automotive Repair and found out that Barrington Motors has been working without a state license for the past 6-7 years. The people on the DBA are not the people involved with the business from what I have gathered. In fact Harry Mezian who owns Mezian Motors said he wasn't involved with Barrington Motors even though his name is listed on the DBA from years ago. Adis previously worked on my car and I trusted him but he burned me on this job. My car was a salvage from an accident, and I should have never trusted him. I should have known when he insisted on half the cash up front to bring my car back to operation and an all cash payment to finish it. He took a total of over $4,500 for the work and another $1 ,600 for the lights. I barely got him to write and hand written receipt for the original pre work. and he would not give me a receipt for the lights. The Bureau of Automotive Repair agreed with me as well and their report will be entered into evidence in court. read more

I've always heard people rave about their amazing mechanic, and after 15+ years of searching with no luck, I've been blessed to stumble across Adis at Barrington Motors. I can't recommend him enough. There's a reason why he's 5 stars on Yelp. A mechanic with 5 stars? with 15+ years in business? Enough said. I bought a 2010 VW GTI with 140k miles on it, and a week later it started making all sorts of random noises. First gear felt like the clutch was slipping, the car shook heavily when I put it in reverse, my gas mileage plummeted, check engline light went on with something about my o2 sensor, just to name a few. I took it to my regular mechanic, who simply recommended replacing part after part. First the o2 upstream sensor, then the o2 downstream sensor, then the thermostat, all of which didn't solve the issue (and cost me tons of money). I decided to take it to another mechanic to get a second opinion. The 2nd mechanic said he didn't want to take on this car because he wasn't confident in what the issue was. The 3rd mechanic had me turn on the car, and after hearing it run for 10 seconds, insisted that I needed to swap my transmission and quoted me $3k to swap it out. (I almost went thru with this, but my gut told me to get a 4th opinion). **Enter Adis at Barrington Motors** From the moment I stepped into his office, I felt comfortable and taken care of. He explained to me that most mechanics simply look at the check engine code and recommend replacing parts, rather than diagnosing the issue and figuring out what's wrong with. He said that he'd need a couple days to thoroughly check out the car. When I received his call, he told me to take a seat (lol, not the news you want to hear, but it was also necessary). My GTI was completely messed up. Cracked intercooler, which messed up the airflow and explained the poor gas mileage. Cheap aftermarket clutch was installed and was completely worn, screws were missing. Huge bend/crack in the exhaust. Fuel filter was never replaced. Needed a new starter. Wrong coolant was used. Oversized battery installed without a bracket. Random zipties holding things together. You get the picture. Adis was confident that he could fix all of this, but didn't pressure me at all to fix it. I was grateful that he was able to diagnose the issue, and ultimately decided to fix the car instead of selling it. Adis went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable with the whole process. He provided me with an estimate (very reasonable prices), followed up with me by sending pictures of what he was working on, and ultimately delivered the car back to me in AMAZING shape. We even test drove it together to make sure I didn't have any issues. The top qualities anyone should look for from a mechanic is someone who can fix your problem and some you can TRUST. I highly, highly recommend Adis from Barrington motors, and will be taking all my cars to for a long, long time. Cheers! read more

Adis took the time to show me what was going on with my car before making some major repairs- timing belt, oil leak, suspension, brakes. Adys did an EXCELLENT job on my 2006 vw gti. Turns out my previous mechanic (Bugsville in Northridge) screwed me over by putting a poorly designed blow-off valve in my car, which caused a leak in my breather valve, a broken turbo boost controller valve, misfiring cylinders, and 2 broken coils. Adys is very communicative and will call you throughout the day to give you updates. He doesn't pressure or upsell you. He knows German cars, and was able to diagnose the problem w/ my engine (Jomag in Silverlake had my car for 5 hours and couldn't find the problem). Though I loved taking my car to Jomag (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jomag-auto-repair-los-angeles), I think I've finally found my mechanic w/ Barrington Motors. Mauricio at Jomag was less communicative and his shop is super tiny. I'm $650 short and hella broke now, but my car runs like NEW. After visiting these guys for the first time, I'm compelled to write a review based on my recent experience. My VW had been leaking oil and coolant and the dealer quoted me an outrageous amount to get it fixed. After a little bit of research on Yelp, I called Barrington Motors and got a quote that was 30% lower than the dealer. Score!! I brought in my car and the guys at Barrington determined that some of the repairs the dealer recommended weren't even necessary!! My car is running great and I ended up paying about half of what I would've paid with the dealer. They know all the quirks and issues of Audis (and VWs) and have always been spot on in either diagnosing and repairing any problems I've had. They're consistently reliable and honest. Before I started going to Barrington Motors exclusively, I used to go to multiple shops and have them diagnose the same problem, research the issue, and get multiple quotes. Adis and the mechanics at Barrington, always came up with the right diagnoses and fixed or serviced at very reasonable prices, and saved me money by not doing unnecessary repairs (as some shops suggested). They also are good at explaining why and when things need attention. They're so good, I know I no longer have to spend all that time researching and just take my car there for services or repairs now. Despite moving from the West side recently, I nevertheless continue to take my car for all major repairs and services. My girlfriend and I went to Volvo of Santa Monica for an electrical issue on the her S40. Volvo of SM diagnosed that the problem was due to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and the cost to fix would be about $2,000. I did not like to the idea of shelling out $2000 for a 10 year old car with over 100K miles. So I took the Volvo S40 to Barrington Motors for a second opinion. Barrington diagnosed the Volvo and found a short on the connections. The cost about $160. I asked them to double check the CPU and the found no issue with the CPU.
