We were excited to check out the New Mexican restaurant we passed coming into town. Parking was difficult. We pulled in and parked, but ended up moving our car because we were worried we weren't parked in a true spot and might get towed. We wanted to sit on the roof top patio but they told us it wasn't open, which was a bummer because it was a beautiful evening. The restaurant inside is cool, very eclectic and fun. We were sat at a table in the back and ordered a round Margaritas and Chips with a trio of Guac, Queso, and Salsa. Our server never told us they bring complimentary Chips and Salsa or we probably wouldn't have ordered the trio, but it was good. Now comes what we call the "Scantron" ordering portion. We call it a "Scantron" because it looked like a test we took in high school or college with the little bubbles you fill in. It's a build your own taco menu that has a ton of options (almost too many) but it's very difficult to figure out. None of us could figure out how to order multiple tacos with different ingredients on the same "Scantron." We thought it was some kind of joke it was so difficult. Our waitress wasn't much help as she was new and agreed with us the ordering process was difficult. That being said all our tacos were delicious! I did two fish and one shrimp, all with different toppings and sauces. Everyone enjoyed their food, but we couldn't get over the ordering process. They weren't super busy and I can't imagine if it was packed and everyone was ordering that way. Just seems like there has to be a better, easier way. I think Barrio is a great addition to South Haven, I just hope they streamline the ordering process. read more

New place off the main drag in South Haven. The tacos were great and the servers were friendly. The art on the walls was fantastic. They didn't offer outdoor seating even though it was a hot summer day and the patio was set up. And they were more nervous about their "Choose Your Own Adventure" menu than we were. Barrio is a chain of restaurants in the eastern US from Florida to New Hampshire to Michigan. This location is the fourth attempt to make a restaurant successful; limited parking is a challenge. The interior features a new wall mural. Roof top and patio seating is available with good weather. They offer a wide selection of appetizers; specials; build-your-own tacos with choices of tortillas, protein, sauces, toppings, cheese and salsa. Bar has several types of margaritas, unique cocktails and draft beers. Brunch has breakfast tacos, cocktails, breakfast plates with Mexican and southern US takes. The ability to create a customized taco is unique and fun. Pleasant, knowledgeable service. Their ability to handle summer crowds will be a bit of a challenge - I hope they pull it off. read more

Tequila and tacos that's what I am saying!!! This place is so cool!!! I love the way it is decorated. It is a really cool look. But that's not why you would come here..... the drink's are amazing I had their house margarita and oh how I wish I wasn't driving because one just wasn't enough!!! Now for the tacos oh the tacos we have tried some we created and some of their specialty's the were all AMAZING!!! But I must say the best part of this whole place was the service!!! The best customer service I have ever had hands down!!! The manager was amazing I wish I new his name he is the reason for such and amazing staff I am sure !!!! Now the star of the show was Ash!!! He is one of the best servers ever!!! If I owned a restaurant I would be stealing him!!! His demeanor was infectious and his smile just made you feel welcome!!! Met some friends there for drinks. They ate, food looked great and they said it tasted good. My friend asked for a knife to cut her meat and they said they don't have any, not even a plastic one. The parking sucks and for the busy summer season they are still figuring out how to balance their busy weekend nights. Don't go with a big group. I'm hopeful that in the future they'll be able to take on their busy weekends a bit better because I'd love to come back. The ordering is confusing at first, and I wish the servers would take a bit of time to explain how it works if you've never visited before, but it's simpler than you think once you aren't so overwhelmed with all the options. All that being said, the food is amazing! Everyone in our party agreed and thought it was delicious. I'd love to come back and try again once they've been running awhile and hopefully have a smoother system down. read more

This place is a pathetic excuse for "Mexican" food. Worst tacos, and customer service of all time. Cold, falling apart corn tortillas, no chips, and about the amount of blackened cod the size of a chapstick tube. Cod was served cold as well. Their Facebook page shows food that is nothing similar to the garbage they serve. Even worse, their management is completely absent to have any reasonable conversation about any of it. read more

Nothing is enjoyable. The ordering is over complicated. The service is slow. The food is worse than chipotle fast food but costs more. They add 20% tip to your bill then don't tell you but let you add more when you checkout. Also the automatic tip options are 20%, 27%, 30%. read more

One star just for the absolutely insane way you order. This is aimed squarely at corporate, as the employees were nice. You need a cryptography degree to figure this menu out. I asked AI how to build a taco and it gave up. Seriously, if you're going to offer 300 options, at least provide some suggestions if you're not interested in pulling out the Rosetta Stone to order some friggin tacos. Oh, also, if you want a drink menu, it's ONLY digital on a QR code, where the other TWO food menus are printed on paper in SAT test format. JFC I haven't even ordered my food yet. If you've made it this far and still want to visit, buckle up, bring a compass, some snacks, and steely resolve because you'll need it. Staff is doing their best but whoever came up with this restaurant concept is actively torturing any poor employee who dares to apply here. This could be season three of The Rehearsal. read more
