Our skid plate had started dragging, and when we went down a sloped parking lot it got crinkled and made the car undriveable. We were able to remove it ourselves, but didn't feel safe driving all the way back to Sacramento without having it looked at. Even though they were about to close, Sunny and his assistant still took the time to help us out. They were able to fix things up temporarily so we could safely drive home, which gave us so much peace of mind. Sunny was also super knowledgeable and took the time to explain what likely happened and what to watch for next time--especially making sure during future oil changes that all screws and bolts are properly reinstalled on the skid plate. Really appreciate the honesty, kindness, and willingness to help us out in a stressful situation. Highly recommend!

Went in for an oil change at the local Honda dealership and they recommended I change the steering rack on my car. The estimate was $4k+. Called several different shops to get quotes. Saw Tran's Auto Repair and read through some reviews and thought I'd give it a shot. Not only did Sy take his time to check on an estimate for me--which was very reasonable for the work required to replace a steering rack--he also suggested I bring the car in to double check to see whether I actually need the replacement. I was able to take the car in a few days later and after checking, turns out the rack was seeping just a bit of fluid, but not a major leak (what seems common for a car with 150k miles). Recommended we don't change it now and continue to check on it every oil change until it becomes an actual leak (if that ever happens). That recommendation checks out with how the car drives. Before my visit to the dealership I didn't notice any major issues with the steering--the car seemed to still have firm, controlled steering even at highway speeds. Mind you, I understand the business nature of auto shops. It is advantageous to recommend and do work on vehicles. But the fact that Tran's recommended not to get the steering rack replaced right now should speak to how honest they are with their customers (even a new one). I'll be back, and would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of service/repairs.
