I wasn't sure what to expect so I just appeared right at 8 AM opening one morning with my voucher in hand (Americas Tire footed the bill for the repair). Armando took me in and said it would take about half a day. I appreciated him squeezing me in with no appointment! Although the car ended up taking longer (it was done around 3 PM) and I had to call for status, the whole process was quick and easy and painless. I had a brief interaction with the owner/manager Peter and he was very pleasant. I went to them to get a wheel alignment on my Ford. I strongly advise against going there because Peter is a fraud. First, he took a long time to give me an invoice for the work done and insisted on payment first. After I paid, he gave me an invoice with a diagram of the wheels. I saw that the wheel was still crooked as it was before. When I asked why the wheel was still crooked, he started making excuses. I strongly advise against going there as he did nothing. He just checked and did not fix anything. read more

I received a price quote from Peter: that it would cost $100 to wire an additional off road light that already was mounted on my car. I provided the harness: wiring with wires, relay and on/off switch and explained everything that needed to be done to Peter's technician. After that, Peter changed his quote to $175. I agreed if his technician would try to find a broken wire for the back camera on my car. Peter called me in a few hours and told me that his tech found the broken wire to the back camera and work with the wiring light was done. I was very happy to hear that good news. Of course at that point Peter asked for a higher price of $200 to which I agreed. I came to pick up my car, paid $200 and got into the car. To my shocking surprise there was no on/off switch for the new light. His tech put new wiring to the old switch for another set of lights and I can have only four lights on together. It was nonsense: not what I needed and not what I asked for and not what I paid for. Peter's tech said it would take him 10 min to fix this. In reality it took more than 2 hrs and I wasted my time waiting instead of picking up a ready car. Again, Peter says that I have to pay more, because his tech spends more time. I asked him why he is never concerned about my time and I have to keep waiting. At this point, his reaction was crazy! He started to yell at me, saliva splattering about as he shouted curse words. He did not wear a mask and stood very close to me. His behavior was crazy and sick. He definitely needs to see a psychiatrist and can't run a business that serves people. He yelled that his tech was supposed to stop the job and throw away my car and me. Why? Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and long wait am I supposed to deal with all that? read more

I called Dean's Automotive this past week because I heard a strange sound coming from my fairly new car. Peter was very friendly and invited me to come in so it can be assessed. I told him it might be my brakes, but of course they needed to see the car. He had Armando drive in the car with me so he could try to figure out what the sound was. When Armando got my car up so he could see what was going on underneath, he saw a piece had been scraped from the bottom which was making all that noise. I guess normally it's made of plastic but what was used for my car was much harder material. Peter explained this was more of a cosmetic issue and they could cut off the piece or remove the whole thing. I really appreciate Peter explaining everything thoroughly to me. Absolute scumbags. They want to charge you right away a $178 "diagnosis fee" even if you already know that's wrong with your car. Then they'll tell you that they can waive the fee if you get it repaired there or if the mechanic takes less than 1.5 hours to diagnose it. But none of that is in the contract and they refuse to actually put it in the contract. When I told them I didn't want to pay that, they got really aggressive and went on some weird rant about how they can't treat me well because I'm a new customer and they only treat their old customers well and they're not a cheap shop, they're super expensive and all mechanics are booked right now, so you just have to deal with it. It was incredibly unprofessional and only confirmed my choice to not deal with them was 100% correct. Steer clear of these scumbags. read more

So... the good news and bad news of having a customer like me are that I am a snarky, picky sunovabitch. I am a natural skeptic and don't particularly like automobiles, knowing little beyond the functional basics. For Dean's Automotive, there is no downside to that. Last Friday, I spoke with Peter about getting a quote. He gave me a general ballpark quote of $500 for my problem but stressed that until they could run diagnostics, the quote was almost meaningless, and he only gave me the ballpark soft quote because I insisted. he was quite polite and clear. I made an appointment for Tuesday. So, Tuesday rolls around. They run the diagnostics and inform me that my description of the problem was accurate, but the causation of the symptom was something quite different. From an estimated $500, the actual quote dropped to $141. Dennis starte4d work, and finished 90-ish minutes later. They also found an unrelated problem and fixed it for the cost of the replacement part (no labor, as it was excruciatingly simple). The diagnostic turned up a few other things related to misfires. As my 90K service is overdue (which they quoted for me), I went ahead and scheduled that for next week. The true hallmark of customer satisfaction is when a customer books repeat business! read more

My sister works near your shop I'm her brother in SoCal trying to find a decent auto shop that can fix her 05 Ford Escape, the thing had computer issues, needed 6 coils plugs, and more for this old 150+k Mile suv. Well I looked for yelp ratings and Deans Automotive was up there so I called talk to Peter and he took care of my sis and her car exceptionally well! All fixed and the price .. well if you need repairs on ford escapes go here. He will be more than reasonable. If I lived up there I would take my BMW 5-Series there hands down but I'm 400 miles away but at least my sister has a great shop, great people, and excellent service to take her vehicle for any repairs. My car was dead due to my neglect. I had no idea what was wrong with it and could have easily racked up a giant bill to get it fixed. I called Dean's Automotive and Peter was straight forward with me. He said that he'd start with the battery and go from there. Sounded good to me, so I got my car towed there. Peter called and let me know my car got to the shop and he was realistic with when he would get to my car. A few days later he called me, said the battery replacement did the trick and that I was good to go. When I went to pay, Peter was there and happy and friendly. On my way to work Friday I managed to knock out my alignment driving over some rough roads. Pulled into Dean's Automotive hoping for a drop in appointment as they were close by work. Spoke with Peter and explained that I had some modifications on my car and wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to accommodate. Explained my issues and was told I'd get an update later in the day - perfect. Call to check in around 3:30pm for an update and was told the car was almost put back together. Seems like just the alignment was knocked out then - perfect. I show up at 4pm expecting a simple pick up, but upon arrival I see that their technician was having trouble re-installing my front splitter. Not a big deal I thought, I know how painful it can be as I had originally installed it myself. Left a few pointers and was on my way to meet Peter at the service desk. Alignment tech dropped off the spec sheet and it was SO off that I had to convince myself that the word ACTUAL actually said ACTUAL because those specs were what I expected from "BEFORE" (Red flag #1). So I ask Peter what's going on as this is stating that the alignment is now even further out of spec than when I brought it in. Turns out the technician had "turned the wheel when printing the sheet". Weird, but fine - just print me a new one then. They made it seem like it'd be a huge deal and waste of time "oh it's not that big of a deal, the alignment should be fine", but having managed my own shop in the Bay Area, kinda chose the wrong guy to pull a fast one on. (Red flag #2) I figured, it's hot outside, end of the day, just get me a new printout and I'll be on my way. I come out to see what's taking so long and the alignment tech is redoing my alignment... That tells me they must not have performed the alignment to the designated specs in the beginning, (Red flag #3). On top of that, the alignment tech was asking me to help monitor the live readouts of my camber and toe and many mistakes were being made (incorrect adjustments, lots of repeat work, sloppy) (Red flag #4). After the tech finally gets things into "Okay" status, as in I've had enough waiting and it's been over half an hour picking up my car, Peter decides to charge me the full price for the alignment totaling $175. Now, if it had been a smooth and uneventful pickup, I would have no problem paying full price+ for this job (taking into account my modified undertray). However, I had to basically argue for proper documentation (and get blamed for it at the end - I don't understand how it would be my fault?), hold your technician's hand while I cringed at their workmanship, and accept a sub-optimal alignment job. On top of that, I expected an inspection of my suspension/subframe while the car was up in the air (they needed to remove my splitter this way due to their alignment rack situation), and am now left with a shaky car. The car is currently at a (trusted) shop being inspected. read more

My girlfriend's BMW had a seat that would no longer go forward and back. The local BMW dealership would not work on it because it was more than 10 years old. They recommended that i contact Dean's Automotive to resolve the problem. We contacted Dean's and spoke with Earl , the shop manager. He scheduled us an appt to drop the car off. We got a call the same day. It seems that a cable driving the seat had gone bad. They had to take the seat out of the vehicle but the part was cheap. Now the seat works perfect. This is an outstanding auto shop. I went there for years and they serviced my 1996 Neon regularly, and kept it going despite multiple problems over the years. After I traded it in for a 2012 Focus, they didn't see me for several years because I had a service contract with the dealer. But when that expired, I came right back, and they did my usual maintenance in record time - I was in and out in about an hour. They recommended two tires and referred me to the manager at America's Tire, who also gave me great service. Except for a canister purge valve recall that has to be fixed by the dealer, I'll be back every time I need service. Thanks especially to Peter Khoury, what a great manager! read more

I took my car in to Dean's for them to find and fix a fuel leak. I was referred by a friend who used to work here, so I took that as a pretty good sign that it was a good shop (I can't think of how many of my former employers that I'd recommend...). Anyway, I dropped off my car the day after I called them, they dropped me off at work, and did a great job of calling me to keep me informed (when they found the problem and when they were finishing up the work on the car). They were able to get the parts and install them the same day, but didn't finish it until just before closing. I wasn't able to get back to the shop before they closed, so I arranged to pick it up the next morning when they opened. Everyone I worked with at Dean's was great, and they took care to answer all of my questions and keep me informed and help me out however they could, and I would have given them 5 stars, EXCEPT that they were OVER AN HOUR LATE opening up the shop the next day when all I needed to do was pay for the repair and pick up my car, and meanwhile my kid was literally bored to tears waiting so long. read more

I have Ford Escape SEL 2013, about a month back, there was some issue with Oil leakage & Wiring harness. Car was not in running condition, I hit the car Sunnyvale Ford for repair, they were not able to find out whats wrong with the car, asked me to pay thousands of $ on the diagnosis & repire, convinced for Trade-In in very low cost (thats their main Business). I was just mad!, when I searched, I found Dean's Automotive, I spoke to Peter about the issue, This guy is amazing, while discussion, he tried to understand the issue, then I towed my car to his shop, he worked on the car, he replaced the parts, he was informing about the issues and parts that he is changing, overall communication was very transparent, open and helpful to me understand the issue. finally my car was ready... and that too almost in half cost compare to Ford service center quoted !! I think this shop is the best shop I found in bay area as of now, these guy's are intelligent and knowledgeable about the car issues and their fixes, replacement of wiring harness on complete censored car is not an easy job. these guys addressed it perfectly. I think working on complex job and fixed it is a passion for Peter who worked on this task. Ford should learn from this shop that how to do business. I will 100% recommend you this shop, no doubt!! The guy who at the front explained to me details about his concern, like worn out tires... so super helpful for me who doesn't know anything about car. One day, one of my Prius tail light went out. I called Dean's Automotive in the morning. I could bring in my car same day afternoon. The nice guy at the front (sorry, don't remember his name) fixed it in a few minutes and then he said it's on him, since the bulb coast almost nothing. Wow... Dean's Automotive totally made my day!
