Got a lunch special today (noon) and the place was busy. I was impressed with the # of pizzas that were ready (to purchase by the slice) and the speed of my service. Today's special was hot wing pizza. It was yummy!! The salad bar was a bit on the messy side, but it was busy as well. My only suggestion would be to tend to it a bit more frequently during the busy times. I'll be back! read more

Simply tried to order a delivery and after the employee had two failed attempts on the phone number, and two more failed attempts at confirming the address (which was already in the system), I asked for the manager. Paul had trouble accessing the record due to "her locking it up". After 5 failed attempts at the basics, it tells me I should consume food from somewhere else. I recommend you do the same. read more

We have been coming to the 40th St and Greenway location since we moved to the area in 2013. The service was great up until about a year ago. They seem to only hire stupid teenagers that have no idea what customer service is. The Management also don't seem to care that they hire immature teenagers and don't seem to want to fix the issues. Tonight was the last straw. A blonde teenager brings our pizza out and sets the super hot pan right in front of my 1 year old son and then after my one year old proceeds to reach for said pan the blonde tells us "Oh ya it's hot" and walks away. Well no shit! A fresh from the oven pizza is going to be hot and maybe she should have some common sense to NOT put the HOT pizza right in front of a baby. Then she brings out the rest of our food and my raviolis are cold and the sauce is lukewarm. I bring the bowl of raviolis up to the front counter and tell them the raviolis are cold and the only thing she says to me was "OK" and walked away. When they bring the new bowl of raviolis our she just sets it on the table and walks away. Now I've been in the customer service/ service industry for over 15 years. This is not how you treat paying customers. When I asked to speak to the manager the manager basically said, "What do you want me to do about it? Those are the only type of people who want to work here." I'm just appalled at the attitude of the management that works here. I left and said I would never return to that location. So my advice is to pick another establishment to spend your money at because this place just doesn't seem to care. read more

Well I must say the food here was great and the service excellent however I felt like I was victim of false advertising. I ordered the large spaghetti priced 5.99 on the wall menu board, apparently the price went up to 9.99 which was updated on the menu itself but not on the wall board. After the cashier rang me up she had to get an override and I didn't have time to wait around so I reluctantly paid 9.99 for my spaghetti and left. Brownie points docked to whomever manages this restaurant. If your going to make a price change and you can't update it on the wall board right away at least take it down or something. Very bad service. I ordered 3 combos (2 slices of pizza a salad and a drink) I asked for 2 Koni, 2 pepperoni and 2 sausage. I got 5 of my slices immediately and was given a number to put at the edge of my table for the last slice of pizza (sausage) we spent 25-30 minutes eating and talking. As it came time to leave we realized we never received the last slice. I went up to the counter, thinking that the sausage pizza just wasn't ready yet. I told the girl I was leaving and asked for a different slice to go. I look over and to my surprise there's 2 slices of sausage left. The pizza had been there and was almost gone again. Well, I've eaten here several times, and for the most part it's average, nothing to write home about and nothing that would make Gordon Ramsey salivate at the opportunity to taste it's food. Given that, there ordering system is a total disaster. I've learned when ordering from here, no matter what time they tell you, add 15 minutes to it, and well finally, I've had enough of that and will never go back to this location as they tell you one time, when you get there well after your allotted time, guess what, your food still isn't ready. It gets old. Again, it's not the best pizza in the world and waiting over an hour and 15 minutes for it, sure is hell not going to happen. If I'm told 45 min on web or via phone, it better be 45 min. Tired of the lame excuses they give. I know no one will care or be concerned at the restaurant that they've lost one customer over repeated time failures, but someone should stand up and say something since management and ownership doesn't appear to care or want to do anything about it. read more

I actually *worked* at this Barro's when I was 16. That was 18 years ago. From the current reviews I can see it hasn't changed much, down to the beige plates and 80's rec room decor. I miss the pizza so so much. It's chewy and crunchy and cheesy and saucy and perfect. read more

I have eaten here more then a few times. boy its a really good place to get some pizza the crust is nice, its warm and soft, if you want a good pizza then get the Kona Pizza its so delicious. I love Barro's Pizza although I had never been to this location before. A previous reviewer commented on the bad smell and, unfortunately, the intensity of that smell was understated. It was so bad that I found myself gagging after we walked in and we had to leave. There is clearly a mold or sewer problem that needs to be addressed. read more

Watch out people, stand back, there is a compliment coming. This pizza is not bad. It is not NY style pizza, the crust is way too thick and puffy for that. It is just a pizza, but the flavor of the sauce and the sweet, slightly creamy texture of the cheese, make this an okay pizza. It is better than the Streets of NY or NYPD, which try to be something they are not. I don't think Barros pretends to be anything but a pizzeria, making their own pizza. Worst Barros I have been to. First of all, the online ordering process is outdated. I heard at least 2 different customers complain about this to the employees (not their fault). When you place your order it said 25 min then when you get the email confirmation it said 45 min The last time I waited the full 45 min my pizza was so cold that I decided to come in earlier and thought I would just wait 15 min or so max. I placed my order at 6:20 and did not leave Barros until 8pm (food was still cold - how does that happen?!). During this wait I was told it would only be "10 minutes" at the beginning. There were plenty of people in front of me that seemed to be waiting longer and even got their orders wrong. I overheard that people were placing online orders and told it would take 75 min so they also called in and their wait time changed to 45min...Only 1 girl was really doing anything as the others talked/joked loudly/on their phones/completely messing around (other reviewers mentioned this too). When pizzas finally did come out of the kitchen, a girl would put them in the hot box and walk away instead of checking if those were for anyone waiting (I mention this bc multiple times it was for someone that was waiting and they had to wait longer bc no one was paying attention). While waiting they kept getting numerous calls that they continued to take even though there were people physically waiting to order in front of them and 10+ people waiting too long for their food. This makes it clear that they only cared to continue to take orders ($) without regard for how backed up they were/how many people were upset. One thing that really bothered me is that they did not tell walk-ins that the wait would be over an hour until AFTER they ordered their food (they told most phone orders before). In the end my food was cold, had a hair in it, and I wasted my Friday evening waiting with other pissed off customers. The entire wait I did not see a single manager or anyone trying to help the situation. At the end of the day it was a busy Friday and while most employees did absolutely nothing there were 1-2 that seemed very stressed and overwhelmed and trying to handle everything. They were getting a lot of complaints and frustration thrown at them when I really think management is to blame. The workers here are all appeared very young/high-school-aged and a lot of things are outside of their control so at the end of the day this is management's failure. Save your time, money, and energy and go anywhere else. 0/10. read more

Worst Barro's ever!! The service was horrible, the two girls working were rude and unfriendly. When we got there they said there wasn't going to be room for us but we found plenty of tables...they weren't that busy! The salad bar was pitiful...there was hardly any lettuce left in the bowl. The lettuce that was left was sitting in a puddle of water. Many of the items to put in your salad were empty or almost empty. And they only allowed one trip to the salad bar. With the tiny bowl they gave you it was an absolute waste of money! We love Barro's and go to one down the street from us all the time. We went to this location for a small group gathering and will not go back! Still can't believe how bad it was! I would avoid going to this location unless they get some new, friendlier people to work there! read more

I grew up on Barros and it never fails to hit the spot! The sauce and dough are just so tasty to me, it's simplistically classic and flavorful. Their customer service is wonderful all around. We even received candy canes from our delivery driver around Christmas as an added treat. Feels like family. read more

Do yourself a favor and have your pizza delivered. The location is sketchy at best, but they have decent pizza and excellent prices. Barro's doesn't skimp on sauce or toppings. I like Barro's Pizza. They offer really fast service (take out) and good service in restaurant. Their pizza is a good sturdy kind, lots of crust, plenty of sauce and fresh items. Not 100% original, but if you like combination or pepperoni and sausage, they do a decent job of it. Price wise, they are fair market. You can download a reusable coupon from their website and get a large pizza (any kind of specialty) for $12.99. This beats the competition, and frankly, is worth the inexpensive dining-in experience. Good for families and large groups. Call ahead and typically pick up your pizza on time -- two thumbs up! Beware of Friday nights during Football season -- the line is very long, and often you have to wait to pick up your pizza. Oh yes, good hot wings and cheesy bread. read more

So so, I visited this pizzeria on Super Bowl Sunday. They were quite busy as everyone had the same idea to order pizza and wings for pickup. The staff seemed to be doing a million things at once and we're getting confused about which order was mine. The wings were delightful however I thought the pozza was just average. I will have to try back again on another day when I have access to red pepper. I believe the red pepper would have made that pizza much better. read more

I used to go to Barro's in Tempe all the time 15 years ago. I moved away from the valley for over 10 years and have been back for 3. Just decided to try this location for the first time since I've been back, and it was better than I even remembered. Food was delicious, service was awesome. It's definitely a family oriented place with lots of kids, but it's really good quality pizza and wings. It tastes great and you don't feel gross after eating it like you do at a lot of other pizza places that are super greasy and use low quality ingredients. My husband and daughter loved it too. I'm so glad we came back to Barro's and we will definitely be back to this location. I can't say enough about how nice and pleasant the staff was. read more

Love barros pizza generally but this store smells like sewage. Ordered two slices. They were not even hot.

Food is decent, but whenever I go the place is dirty (plates on so many tables, tables not washed etc.), and the staff is about as animated as drying paint. At least they aren't rude, but I've never seen them go above and beyond their job to assist customers or even interact with the customers. It's almost like you are bothering them from talking to one another. I will go if it is a last resort, but there are plenty of other places I feel deserve my money. read more
