Excellent bagel. Almost as good as a New York bagel.

The food was good but the customer service was poor. The coffee in large pumps from Biggby was ice cold and when we complained, the manager smirked and laughed. I took a cup from the back pump and it was just as bad. Went next store to Biggby and they said people come in all the time with that same complaint. Got Lattes and cappuccino at Biggby instead. read more

How do they get the bagels so doughy?? Easily the best bagels in the area, n matter the Barry's you go to. From experience, this one gets decently busy around lunch but the crew keeps the line moving nicely. Friendly staff and always a good variety of bagels/cream cheeses on deck. Sandwiches are very well portioned too; usually places like this throw on a few slices of meat and call it a day, Barry's slices everything fresh and piles it high! Don't let the decor fool you. This place has the most delicious bagels! There's usually a line when I've been here but they move through people pretty quick and like I said the bagels are yum! Always loved Barry's growing up so I thought I'd give them some business while in town. Decent bagel but definitely ran in to one of my pet peeves- undercooked bagels. I like a bagel that's actually got some brown on the outside and doesn't taste like yeast and undercooked dough on the inside. Crazy me I also like some browning to happen when I ask for it toasted. read more

Great tasting bagels and cream cheese. You have to get knives and napkins yourself so don't forget, and you have to ask for them to be sliced, but very good bagels and cream cheese. A great local institution. read more

Barry's is the bagel monopoly of Toledo. Other than Panera, a chain, I can't think of one place that serves bagel sandwiches. As a Toledoan, I have been to Barry's plenty of times. There are multiple locations. This location, however, falls short of the others. The food here is just as good as any of the other locations, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I get off work at 5:30, like most people, and by the time I get home and am ready to go get dinner it is 6:00. I usually get there by 6:15 (it closes at 7:00). Every time I've been there, they have treated me like I am a nuisance. They already have everything wrapped up and put away even though they are open for 45 more minutes. I realize this is primarily a lunch location, but if they are open until 7:00, someone getting two sandwiches to go at 6:15 should not be a problem. Heaven for bid you get corned beef or something that needs sliced, because the machines are already sanitized. Once I saw an employee texting a friend about people coming in "right before" closing time. I've worked in the restaurant industry and understand the desire to get out and home, but customer service should not suffer because of it. However, the food is top notch and affordable. I highly recommend getting any sandwich you desire on an "everything" bagel - they are delicious. I've tried many different sandwiches and they have all been good. So if you are trying this place for lunch, you will certainly enjoy it. If you are trying it for dinner, you will enjoy the food, but be prepared for downward glances and short remarks. read more

Experienced Barry's for the first time yesterday and was very disappointed with my experience. First off, the food is okay. Think cheap store bought vegetable cream cheese with a packet of Kraft ranch dip mixed in and you have their 'Ranch Veggie' cream cheese. Spread on top of a Lenders bagel and you have Barry's. Despite the food, my review is largely due to the service. The workers are unpleasant and rude, which probably has to do with the environment. One worker, who was on his break, had a large timer in front of him counting down the seconds until he had to return to work. If you're traveling from the east to Midwest and happen to get a real itch for some gnarly carbs, hang right off of I-80 and go to Barry's. This has been a regular morning stop on the way back from MI to PA for so many years I can hardly remember. The bagels rock, the coffee is hot and wonderful (according to the hubby - not being a coffee drinker myself), and the service is prompt and friendly. Everything you want in a quick morning stop between Michigan and PA...or anywhere. Bagels are exact ly what they should be...crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside and HOT! Barry's has the best bagels in town, no question. I really love the salt bagels, although the sodium will probably end up killing me. While a bit pricey, the sandwiches are as good as deli sandwiches get. Fresh vegetables and meats combined with those awesome bagels yield one serious sandwich. You can get various breads instead of the bagels, but why would you want to do that? Stop hating the bagel. Give in to the bagel. Eat the bagel. You'll thank me. Also, the macaroni salad, potato salad, and soup are all great ways to round out a lunch. I have never had a bad experience with any of them. read more

The line was long but moved quickly thanks to the great staff. They were out of sausage for my eggel (bummer), but the ham was okay. Everything bagel was super super salty. Coffee pretty good. We needed something quick and nearby & this fit the bill- if I'm ever in the area again I'd be interested in exploring different kinds of bagels/spreads! read more

Being my first time going here I was as green as they come. I ordered the peppered turkey on an onion bagel. The bagel was really good. Just the right amount of chew to it, also really fresh. I also ordered a side of mac n cheese which was very good. I was suprised how good it was. Service was above average. I was really happy with this place and would definently go back again. read more

The peppermint & kale holiday bagels are great. I have mine double toasted (really charred) with pasteurized, processed, cheese food substitute and gummy bears melted on top, then a dollop of Cool Whip - it's an amazing way to start the day! Bagels are great! The only bagels I've had which were better was in New York. Price is reasonable and they serve customers quickly.

I absolutely love the baked potatoes here. Very generous sized potatoes. I would have given a higher rating but I have noticed that the service has gone down as of late. The last few times I have been there, the employees have been doing other things while there is a long line of people waiting to order. The last time I was there I got to witness one employee complaining to another on how dirty the place was when she arrived in the morning. Her comment was even she didn't want to eat there. She said this while I was waiting to be served. Dear Barry Bagels, please educate your employees on how to act professional in front of the customers. Customer Service needs to be a higher priority. read more

This was my first time ever eating at this location. I was super excited to try something new. Before I had even had the chance to order, employees were arguing with each other about who was going to make my bagel. When someone finally did come make it, she asked me what all I wanted and I told her. I said I wanted my bagel toasted and she didn't listen. So she put Mayo on it. And then I repeated that I wanted it toasted and she got mad. She picked the bagel up with an attitude and threw my entire bagel in the trash. While huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. There was also a new kid (his first day) trying to watch her make my bagel. She proceeds to yell at him telling him he's in the way and needs to go stand somewhere else. Even though he was just trying to learn. But hopefully he learned what NOT to do. I believe her name was Alexia if I can recall from the previous arguing. The food was okay and I understand these are hard times for many businesses. But I don't believe that they should be giving customers a hard time. Because I am supporting the business and I wasn't rude when I asked for things. read more

Yummy, fresh bagels. Coffee is probably the best around. The line is usually long but moves very fast. The menu is nice here. You can get a bagel with butter or a custom sandwich. Workers are friendly and always wiping tables off to keep the place clean. read more

Highly dissatisfied with the service at this location. I was there around 2pm on a weekday...the place was completely dead and there were 7 people working. One girl was very friendly and helpful the other 6 were incredibly rude and stood around the cashier blabbing not acknowledging the fact that they were at work and there were customers in the store. They got 2 stars because of the one girl that was very friendly and pleasant and in my opinion the food is great. I don't know that I would ever go back though because the poor service made a terrible first impression. read more

I love Barry's bagels they have great food but I must say they are too pricey for a bagel place!unfortunately they are the only bagel place left in Toledo so when I'm in the mood for a bagel I have no choice but to go to Barry's and I also wish they stayed open later.now on to the good news Barry's bagels are delicious I love their garlic,everything,onion,and plain bagels and their potato salad is the BEST it tastes homemade and fresh.their chicken salad is also excellent along with their macaroni salad and soups.i would recommend Barry's to a friend and I will continue to occasionally pick up food or dine in but I still say their prices are steep for a bagel joint. read more

Service is quick, the food is always good albeit somewhat pricey and it is a local institution who support the community, what is there not to like? Only place in town that I have found that has a Lox and Cream Cheese on an everything bagel. (although they don't have capers which is the one thing I wish I could add to their menu) The Bagels are not as good as some you can find in a bigger city but they are still dense and have excellent flavor. Been a Barry's addict since they first came to town many years ago. I go there at least once a week and lately it's been more then that. I love the food but there are a few issues that are ongoing and I'm getting tired of it but if I want my favorite roast beef on everything bagel I guess I have to deal with it. I also get there many days between 6:00 and 6:30 pm and everything is all wrapped up even though they close at 7. Sometimes they're rude sometimes they aren't. I could understand if I was walking in right at closing time but I don't. Also when I get the cream cheese in either the 1/4 or 1/2 pound container, depending on who fills it, most of the time it's not even half full. I am paying for it and getting severely shorted not just a little bit. Also there is always a garbage can overflowing every single time I go in there and the windows haven't been washed in years. It makes me nuts to see such dirty windows and they have enough employees there daily just standing around and talking about what's happening after work......well let them talk while they wash the stupid windows ! ! ! read more
