This listing says the name is Z!Eats but their sign says Zoupa. We weren't sure we had the right place but we did. It was delicious! It is set up like a fast food restaurant but the caliber of the food was much better. We both had sandwiches. Everything was fresh. The bread was flavorful and a good texture. The options for food are upscale without the high cost. It has a clean and relaxing dining atmosphere. The service was very friendly and helpful. They do have menus with calorie counts for those counting calories. We'll be going back the next time we are in the area and looking for a satisfying fresh lunch. read more

I've only had the ancient grains bowl (with chicken, beans, corn, mushrooms, etc) and not the soup (which obviously is their speciality. I really liked it! It had a good flavor - I couldn't quite figure out what it was, but it was great. You can order off their website for pick-up and I did a build your own. I will say - it was $10 for chicken and several toppings...is it worth $10? Maybe. It did taste good. It did fill me up (but that doesn't take much). But while it had great options to add, it wasn't as much ingredients as I'd have thought with that price (comparing it to Bibimbap bowls). So I started ordering it with extra bacon, and extra aioli sauce (costs $2 for the bacon). Now I understand reducing portion sizes to cut down on cogs and what not, but I paid $2 for extra bacon, and this is what I got. My family was passing through on a cold December day. Yelp provided what I refer to as "meal radar" for the local area. This place won the vote for a late lunch. It was certainly a good visit. They listed 12 daily soups, along with a planned sandwich menu, as well as sides. It was a pleasant surprise to find out they offered free taster samples of the soups, so you knew exactly what to expect. Loved that. While I sampled at least 5-6 different flavors, I landed on loaded baked potato. It was a tough decision over a wonderful lobster bisque, a creamy Wisconsin cheese soup and a delightful French onion. Believe me, it was a tough choice. I paired that with an Italian sandwich for the meal. All smiles when it came down to flavor! My family thoroughly enjoyed all they had as well. The only drawback for not awarding this 5 stars for our visit was pricing. It was pretty spendy. The portions were good. The food was good. The price...not so good. 4 meals and drinks...a tad over $78. (Included taxes) It's tough as a small business owner to make ends meet and still stay competitive in the market. Hopefully this location continues to prosper in today's restaurant realm. Now again, I'm not disappointed in what I got. Service was friendly and helpful. Really my only gripe about this place is the fact they dont accept Android or Apply pay. Other than that, they are pretty average for a fast food restaurant. The store is clean and well laid out. The staff is, in a word, ok. They seem kind of standoffish and aren't always welcoming. I've been here several times and have tried only a couple of soups but during my most recent trip I elected to try one of their sandwiches and now it will be the only thing I order from there because it was that good. I decided to opt for the ham and cheese sandwich. It was freshly prepared, hot and delicious! The condiment was a maple syrup topping that complimented the sandwich extremely well. It pains me to write a bad review for Zoup, as it's been a favorite for many years, but this location is subpar at best. There has clearly been a change in ownership in the last several months. We walked in at noon to a completely empty restaurant. So much so that my sister and I thought it may be closed. No employees in sight. After a few moments a gentleman came from the back but did not greet us or offer samples. All of the soups had lids on and there was no identifying tags. He clearly didn't want us sampling anything. We both ordered the Mediterranean chickpea Broth Bowl. The man quickly told us if we wanted that it would be about a 15 minute wait bc they were out of broccoli. They were also out of all other menu items containing broccoli "because the old broccoli went bad and had to be thrown away." It seems other reviewers have mentioned they are consistently out of broccoli oddly? My sister ended up ordering chicken noodle soup and I the salad. My salad was fine but the soup was Luke warm at best and definitely not up to previous standards. Sadly we both agreed this would be our last visit to the Maumee location. I would think Zoup headquarters would hold franchisees to higher standards. read more

I've visited Zoup! up in Ann Arbor, and here in Maumee, as well. The soups are very good at both locations! Both do many free samples. I've gone with the chicken pot pie in a bread bowl, and the tomato bisque, too. Service was very friendly, and the interior was nice. I've also gotten a Take-out order, as well. Granted I hadn't been there for about a year because their prices are really high for just a bowl of soup, but my hubby was sick so I wanted to treat him since I haven't made any soup lately. I should have just gone across the street to GFS and bought the frozen soup and taken it home. Which is what they did. Their Italian Wedding Soup is Gordon's, made with less water and enough red pepper flakes added that so I thought I was eating red pepper soup. Since I an allergic to peppers I'm not a pretty site. Then I ordered the curly chicken soup and chicken pot pie soup for my husband. When I got home I had two chicken pot pies even though my receipt said my correct order. I was going to drive back 6 miles just for what my husband called average soup. The employees were very nice and friendly and give samples, and since you always eat with your eyes first I looked over the soups and all looked delicious. Of course GFS always does have good soups. After reading some of the reviews here, I was a little afraid to go to Zoup! because it seemed to be quite hit or miss. I have to say that my experience was most definitely a hit! I love the concept of a soup restaurant, and a restaurant that mixes up its menu daily. There is something for everyone here and I can't wait to bring my family and friends to Zoup!. The workers were incredibly helpful and I love that you can sample as many of the soups as you want. I enjoyed the lobster bisque very much and my fiance had the zesty 3 pepper with chicken soup. The idea of offering soup in 12 varieties that change every day is pretty original, and each one I tasted was good. I am not even a soup fan, so this says a lot. After my dentist appointment yesterday, I decided to stop in at Zoup to get some soup to go. I was in Maumee at the time so I went to the location on Dussel Drive. Everytime I'm there I taste every soup then decide which two I want. Out of nowhere this middle aged guy comes up to me and says "Hi, I'm so and so the owner and you can buy something or get out because you're not getting one more free smaple." I tried explaining that I was just about to buy something and he snapped "You've had almost a free cup of soup and your not getting one more drop without buying something." ....I have never been more insulted at a restaurant. Zoup is a Panera wanna-be, with very disappointing results. I spent nearly $10 on a lunch combo that was far inferior to a Panera meal in every way. Allow me to enumerate my displeasure. First, the soup, sandwich, and side of bread were all much smaller than what you would get at Panera. Second, the quality of the food was so-so. The "chicken with roasted garlic" soup was weak and watery while my hastily thrown together sandwich left much to be desired. And finally, third, I spent one or two dollars more than I usually do at Panera. So we have expensive, small portions, and so-so food: a trifecta that means I'm not going back. read more

I want to start off by saying Zoup! is excellent if you don't try to make it something that it isn't. It isn't Panera. It's a nice alternative, but if soup isn't your priority you should go elsewhere. Anyway, this particular location seems to be clean, busy, and well-run. The manager always invites you to try soups as soon as you walk in, if he's around, and the employees call out their regulars often. I love the soup varieties and I've tried many. They are always hot and have a good texture every time I've been in. The sandwiches won't blow your mind. They're good, but then again I'm not that picky. I have not had a chance to sample any salads. I must say this place is a bit too expensive. I love eating there but I can't justify $7 for a bowl of (delicious) soup and a chunk of bread when I can get a quart of soup from Bob Evans nearby for $5.
