I've gone to several salons on the area (both the harbor and Tacoma) - I usually just get a trim (around 2" cut) in a straight line (ie no layers or framing)... sounds simple right? Well, every salon I've gone to prior to A Prima has taken it upon themselves to either cut more than I asked for, layered or framed the cut or cut unevenly. I had Lucia today and she first sat me down to ask what I wanted - I explained that I actually wanted a good amount cut off (approximately 6" as my hair was damaged 6 months ago from excessive bleaching - done at a different salon) and I just wanted a good amount cut to make it look and feel healthy again. She then went and washed my hair, using the perfect amount of pressure while scrubbing. Then she cut my hair wet and said she wanted to straighten it to ensure that there were no uneven pieces. She used a Dyson air straight, which is a combination straightener and hairdryer as well as product to keep my hair smooth. The heating tool she used did not cause any damage to my hair and left my hair silky straight. Once my hair was dry, she meticulously fixed any pieces that went to her satisfaction. Overall, I'm greatly satisfied with the haircut and appreciate Lucia's attention to detail.

As I was getting my hair shampooed I mentioned to Anna that I was getting my hair colored the next day, that girl that colors my hair doesn't cut it. Anna told me that she's also a colorist and that she was available to color my hair right then. I haven't been happy with my other colorist the last few times noticing my hair color has been very brassy so I decided to give Anna a try and let her color and cut my hair. Anna is amazing she corrected the damage and did a terrific job with my highlights my all over color and my cut. I'm very happy and totally satisfied with service at this salon, I've already booked my next color and cut appointment I'm coming here for all my hair care needs from now on.

My hair has an odd texture, wavy in most places, but super curly right by my ears. Most stylists I've had find this frustrating and have difficulty giving me an even cut, but not Kim. I also have issues with my hair reacting to humidity (frizzling out, etc) but Kim gave me a glaze which has made such a difference with how my hair handles the constantly changing PNW humidity levels. I trust Kim to take my loose description of what I am looking for as an end result (even though I know nothing about the terminology of hair styling) and translate it into reality. Kim is also super cool and fun to talk to, which just adds to her charm! I'm excited to go see her again in a few weeks to maintain the short hairstyle she gave me, which is still getting complements weeks after she cut it.

So... you won't give me my refund but offer to fix my hair which will use up more time and product when you can give me my refund and it'll SAVE BOTH our time and more of your damn product-- which wasn't even that much considering I only literally had like 4 blonde pieces in my hair. You offering to fix my hair is not enough because what makes you think I will trust you to touch my hair again after the first time around? I let her know literally the same week that I don't like my hair so she offered to fix it. She never hits me up to schedule me, instead she posts her last minute availability on IG instead of asking me first if I was available to come in to fix my hair. There was NO effort whatsoever to try to fix my hair. I asked about that availability and she says it's been filled so I tell her to just lmk her soonest. I get NO reply for going on TWO WEEKS and at that point I would rather find someone else who knows what they're doing and could do what I ask for so that's why I asked for my damn refund. After a little heated conversation, she just stops replying-- how professional right? She should've gotten it right the first time or at least close to it. The shampoo alone was so painful I had tears in the corners of my eyes and had to clench my teeth. She rushed through the foil job (using way less than I have ever had from other hair stylists) and the comb out was further insult on my already sore scalp. The hair "bleach" dissolved chunks of my hair. She tried to blame it on my previous cut (which I had four months ago and NEVER noticed before). Upon checkout I had to remind her that SHE was running a special for first time clients. I am sure if I did not mention it, I would have been charged the extra cost. Bad experience all around. I felt like I was an inconvenience for her and she had to rush through doing my hair. Waiting for my damaged and badly cut hair to grow out to find a new place. And it only cost me $138 for the privilege!
